[Q] Lumia 900 Alarm Volume? - Nokia Lumia 900

Is it me or does there only appear to be one volume setting for the Lumia 900; foghorn.
Try as I might I cannot appear to turn it down. Pressing the volume down whilst it's going off does nothing (unlike my HD7 where it goes up and down accordingly).
Anyone any ideas?

i think the alarm goes off at what ever volume you have the phone set at, or at least it seems to be that way for me, it just never seems loud enough, but i usually have my phone set between 15-20 cause everything else is damn loud

Is this your experience on a Lumia 900? Is it a UK model or an import?
regardless of what volume setting the phone is on the alarm always goes off at MEGA LOUD THE SKY IS FALLING level.
Apprently it's a known bug that was also on the 800 and promptly fixed.

Alarm volume
I also have the same issue with regards to the volume of the alarm being mega loud. One way around this is to pick the quitest alarm sound.
I also read else were that alarm apps do not have this issue. I know we shouldnt have to look for a work around, but hopefully this is only a temp solution.
Apart from this issue it is an excelent phone

[Q] Max Volume Issue - not the usual one

I've noticed that sometimes the max volume of the ringer isn't what is normally the max volume.
I think there is something on the phone that is altering the volume, then when you exit that app, the phone thinks that the lower volume is now the maximum volume.
For example,
I boot the phone and volume is ok.
I run the FM radio, and lower the volume.
I then turn off the radio, and return the phone to max volume.
The max volume is now nowhere near where it used to be, and doesn't go back to normal until I do a reboot of the phone.
I'm not suggesting it is the radio doing this, its just an example, I need to try all my apps to see what might be doing it.
Anyone else experienced this? Maybe its an easy fix, or am doing something wrong myself.
Edited to add:
This is something to do with the radio. Phone on max volume, plugged in the headphones and launched the radio. Lowered the volume using the rocker. Unplugged the headphones and went back to the home screen. Tried increasing the volume and already as max, but much lower than it was before launching the radio.
I had a similar experience last week, the volume on the notifications was so low I could barely hear it sitting at my desk with the phone in front of me. But I rebooted and never saw the issue again. I do use the radio, so maybe it's related.
i to have knoticed this, ive turned the volume down for something then its also turned the ringtone volume down
I mailed support about it.
Also managed to crash the phone just by maxing out the ringer, plugging in the headphones, then lowering the ringer. The volume adjustment window just stayed on screen and didnt respond to pressing the rocker, even though I could see the sound profile widget changing in the background to vibrate and silent when i reached those points. Removing the headphones didnt do anything, with headphone icon still showing in notifcations bar.
Tried to reboot, but wouldn't even respond to that. Had to remove battery.
I have also experienced this issue. Being one of those who had the DHD from 18th October, I have noticed that the audio volume does indeed get affected when using the FM radio or the HTC Music app. Also Vplayer app caused this issue as well as actually 'crashing' my audio all together - sometimes after using Vplayer I had no audio at all unil I restarted.
I now solely use Car Tunes app for my audio and have had no problems at all. Also using Quick settings with everything turned up to Max I think the audio isnt too bad. Previously I thought there was a serious issue with audio, but Im starting to think it maybe just down to specific apps - I now use CoPilot also and have to turn the volume down as it so loud (in another thread I noted that SatNav was unusable because of not being able to hear anything)
Got a response from HTC, although it reads like a default 'do a hard reset' reply, which I'm not happy about doing.
What the hell is this problem now? Will problems about DHD not end one day?
I've had this problem once.. and come to think of it, it happened when I just got the phone, and I did use fm radio just to play around with it.. not another bug surely?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Also got this issue. Dont even need to lower the volume during radio playing. Just on/off radio and the main volume is "set" low. Quotes because the volume control didnt changed...
Reboot is working but its not the best solution :/
I'm having a similar problem.
Yesterday i putted my volume to zero while i was eating with my mom.
After increased it to max, the sound while typing an sms is very low.
Rebooting doesn't help, all volume settings are set to max, but the sms sound while typing is lower then it was before.
The tricks in this topic also couldn't solve the problem.
Sorry for my bad English
I know of this issue. Dolby/srs has been enabled on your phone. It should disable when you unplug your headphones but for done reason it doesn't always disable. It can be disabled manually but can't for the life of me remember the menu path for this.
Sent from my Desire HD by magic.
i got the same problem today, had to put rockplayer into mute (lowest media volume) but then somehow (after several hours till i noticed) , notifications (sms, emails) went mute too
anyone found a solution to this yet ? cos this is annoying tbh
Why don't you use tasker to automatically set the volume to max after exiting said music applications? Should work as a short term fix anyway.
This issue happened with me as well. I set the volume to max when playing angry birds but noticed it was nowhere near as loud as i remember it being before. Rebooted the phone and fixed. This is a strange issue. I wonder when HTC will roll out a fix.
Hi All,
I had kind of a similar problem, i noticed that the keypad tones was very low and the screen lock 'click' was almost silent. However, sound settings were at Max.
I downloaded Quick Settings from Android Market and found that System Volume was at 2 of 7. I increased this to 7 of 7 and all is ok now.
Maybe this will work for some.

Randomly Increasing Audio Volume

I don't know why this is, but it's frustrating beyond explanation: Every once in a while the volume of my device changes. This is not an "official" change, as I always have this thing at the lowest volume possible, but every once in a while after a reboot or just out of nowhere, that lowest volume most definitely becomes louder. I'm accustomed to a low volume, so for my notification and ringtone to suddenly be louder always startles the hell out of me.
I cannot figure out why this is, and I realize the number of things that could be causing this is dependent on what apps I have which are far too numerous to list, so I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and knows the solution.
Thank you all in advance
Cm12 has a setting in sounds and notification that gradually increases volume over time. If you're on sense there is a setting that increases the volume if the phone is in your pocket or turned face down.

Unfortunately this isn't it - I have "Pocket mode" and "Quiet ring on pickup" both unchecked (unrooted, stock). I also thought it might be somehow tied to Media volume, as the app I notice this primarily in is Google Hangouts (that's about the only sound-notification I get outside phone calls), but that's at a vol of 1 along with everything else.

I have no idea then. I had volume issue with hangouts in particular in the past but it was from the volume being to quiet. Maybe try a different ringtone for it. I'm not sure what else to suggest.

[Q] Separate volume controls over bluetooth

Alright, so my issue is that I use my phone to play music at night, and as my alarm in the morning. Having the music low enough to be peaceful while sleeping means my alarm also goes off that peacefully. Using a really loud alarm sound isn't enough.
What I'd like to be able to do is somehow separate the two. Whether Bluetooth volume gets ignored completely (and instead having it use my separate media and alarm volumes), having Bluetooth volume be a master where it still also uses the other two, or anything else that lets my alarm volume be louder over Bluetooth than my media volume.
Has anybody seen any app or trick that can do anything like this? I wouldn't even care if the music plays over Bluetooth as normal and the alarm goes off at its proper volume right out of the phone, ignoring the Bluetooth. Just anything to get my heavy sleeping self up in the morning while enjoying my music throughout the night (I sleep quite poorly).

[Q]Fine volume adjustment

So, i recently got the D855, put MM stock rom on with root and TWRP, it's a pretty sweet upgrade from my galaxy s3, however I cannot seem to find fine adjustment for volume, even with 3rd party apps rom seems to reset volume to the set increments that volume buttons sit in. Now I'm cool with it being like this for media/notifications but with alarm... its either no volume or HEY JUMP OUT THE WINDOW END IS ENDING volume and up. utterly shocked me in the morning by surprise. wondering if there's any simple way to patch this, or whether if i get CM13 rom it'd let me fine adjust it and just keep the alarm volume lower (i tried stock google alarm too which is enough to wake me up tbh), i just want a quiet soothing tune to wake me up not a call to world war 3...
Other option is to learn to edit sound files to make ringtones quieter for the alarm, which seems like a lot of bother :/

Speaker Volume very low after update.

Did OTA 2.0 yesterday. about an hour before, had a preset alarm on watch go off with normal speaker volume. Completed update and a second alarm set for later last evening was too low to her unless you had your ear to the watch. Checked the settings and all three notification volume settings at max. Same extremely low volume on all three notifications. Anyone else experience this.
Is no one else having this issue, or just haven't checked. Other than no volume AW2.0 is working well
My volume is fine/the same on 2.0.
Hi, could you solved your problem? I have same problem
No. First one was replace when speaker died after 11 months, Same thing happened to the replacement after 12 months. May have something to do with being on charge when alarm sounds but nit sure. Never wet. Speaker slowly gets weaker until it stops completely. No diagnosis from return just received a replacement not paperwork or anything.
