[Q] My phone crashed, need advices please. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

My un-rooted phone crashed. I pulled the battery out to restart. After putting the battery back in, the phone vibrated with black screen. I googled online to how to reset my phone. Following the instruction to reset, I applied the wipe reset. Afterward, the triangle behind the android appeared. Then the phone rebooted. Does anyone experience this type of problem or has solutions to this nightmare?
Thanks

Try cleaning the battery. Happened to a couple of people. Just need to charge the sucker.

Not saying it is a user error. It could be hardware issue. But, what apps did you download? Some of these could crash your phone. If the phone was working fine for a period, what changed? You should look into those as well. Changing phone may or may not solve your problem if you have a bad app that is messing things up. Just my $0.02 on this.

Phone goes into random boot loops and vibrates? Any help

Okay so ive been running jmt v8 for about a week on my phone and everything was running great. Then yesterday morning my phone became very slow and unusable. Then i started getting the error message acore system has stopped working and the phone would randomly restart and then it would start vibrating then stop then vibrate again and so on. So i insalled a new rom and i stopped getting the core system has stopped error but i am still getting the random reboots. And the screen also wakes up by itself. Please any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just had this fixed. There's something wrong with the power sensor, especially if it tries to boot the second you put the battery in without touching the power button.
Unfortunately you've been rooted now and because of the issues, you can't flash stock and reset the root count. So you can't sent to your carrier.
Fortunately, http://www.mobiletechvideos.com fixes EXACTLY this for $35 minus shipping it to them. I got my phone back today and it's just the way it was ROM wise and all my files are there and the issue is fixed.
This is a pretty common T989 issue.

And yes, I was sceptical too. Josh, the owner, is reachable by email and answers pretty quickly and did an amazing job repairing my phone.

I can boot into recovery but its tricky because I have to press the buttons perfect or it'll just reboot. I believe the problem is with the power button and ill probably get it replaced.

For anyone with key issues and need to get into recovery or download mode there are adb commands that do this. We get too comfortable with apps and forget about the manual way of achieving a lot of the same tasks that apps provide for us.
From a command prompt:
adb reboot recovery
adb reboot download

hey guys. after the ics update my phone started to lock up and its not rooted. now all of a sudden when i put the battery in it it vibrates once then starts to load and gets about half way and stops. then it turns off and just vibrates a few seconds and vibrates but the screen never shows anything. tryed using just a usb with the battery out and it skips the load screen and automatically starts vibrate looping. the power button seems stuck but i dont think i can fix it any ideas?
Hey everyone! I have a similar (but not quite the same) problem. Every now and then my phone "tells" me to restart it for maximum performance. Every time I restart or just turn on my phone it goes through the boot cycle, including a message that says "android is upgrading" (I got the ICS upgrade from Kies prior to rooting my phone). Then, all of a sudden, the phone doesn't work, and it starts the boot cycle all over again. This happens several times in a row, which for me is a safety issue because I'm not able to call Big Jon (my husband) to get me from the train late at night. Any fixes for that? Thanks.

Damn! Just found this thread...sounds like what my phone started doing today!!
I was clicking around on gmail, then back to home screen, the camera FLASHED all by itself without me doing anything, then started the boot loop thing. Clicking the power button only made it worse. Finally was able to get into recovery via TWRP...but that was weird too. I did a factory reset/wipe and was going to reinstall The Sith ROM that I was running, but it just rebooted and loaded up The Sith anyway and it should have been cleared. I then tried to restore back to Beastmade ROM, restore was very quick and said successful but it booted back to Sith.
Now the power button is hyper sensitive! All I have to do is brush the power button and it will light up the screen. Touch it too long and it will bring up the boot menu. I'm afraid to actually CLICK the button as it might go haywire again.
WTF is going on!? This all seems really odd that it's going down with some of these new ROMs being released. I wasn't even touching the power button when all this started. The weird clicks and flashes didn't sound good when it was all going on.
Has anyone tried flashing back to and OLD rom to see if it will fix it?
change settings to interactive/deadline

Q: Is my device defective?

Ok here's the deal, I have my device about 3 months and never had a problem. Since last week my phone kept turning off when I'm on the home screen, restarts when screen is off. So I was advice to try and hard reset my device which I did bunch of times and problems still continues. I did not install any apps when I hard reset it and I don't know what to do????

Random restarting can happen with custom ROMs. It's happened to me with CM a while back. With you being on a custom ROM, that may be what is causing your issue.
Only way to really determine the cause is to view your logcat, which is tricky because it is cleared on a reboot. This app: aLogcat (free) might be useful. You can set it to save your logcats to your sdcard in intervals, that way it is persistant through a reboot.
You can monitor that and see what exactly is causing your issue.
You can also flash back to stock and see if the issue persists.
If you are running stock rom then your main board might be going bad. Someone sent me an article the other day about this happening to people. Apparently Samsung fixes it for free.

com.android.phone crashing

Last night something made my screen turn on and stay on until my battery died. Now if this wasn't strange enough, when I finally got enough charge in it to boot it up, com.android.phone started crashing which means I haven't had service all day. Google calendar has been crashing as well if it helps, but everything else has been fine including wifi. I've restarted my phone several times throughout the day and even reflashed the radios, all to no avail. Does anybody know a fix? I'm running lifeless v12 rooted and unlocked, let me know if you need to know more and I'll gladly provide it.
p.s. ever since this morning my battery percentage has been going up by a couple % every little while before it goes back down. Not sure if it's related in anyway but I'm not really complaining.
Hard reset would be the best option. Then just leave it for like a day to make sure it is working.

Sorry but what is a hard reset in terms of android? Is it just a Factory data reset? Thanks for the response btw.
Well I did the factory reset and that fixed it. I had to do that from recovery though since settings crashed when ever I tried applying the reset.... Thanks again for the help!

Bricked Note II, Help/Suggestions/Ideas?

I have a unusual brick situation. It's 100% bricked and not even boot looping. So let me explain how it went: I started to get no sound feedback on phone calls, even on speaker. I restarted the phone several times and even removed the battery and still got no solution to my problem... So I then went into recovery to see if I could clear some caches to see if it would help whatsoever.
I proceeded to clear cache just fine. I went to clear dalvik and it failed. I attempted to clear dalvik maybe 5 or so times. I figured it wasn't going to budge so from TWERP I selected reboot system and figured I would tinker around in the software.
Now it shuts off and never wakes up again and that was the last of it. I've tried all the recovery buttons and resets, removed the battery, and tried to charge. Absolutely no response from it other than the IR sensor will blink a red as if booting. The IR sensor will only blink when I try to boot or go into any recovery. Odin doesn't even pick up the phone at all and usually that is my last resort. It shut off with at least 60-70% battery.
So the most the phone reacts is a slight red blink on the IR sensor but nothing more. Does anyone have ANY ideas or suggestions or some sort of help? I am really upset and sad over this because it was my perfect phone running a great ROM, or not so great after this haha. I would appreciate any type of help guys.
I don't know much but I do know a little bit about briking phones. And from found out is that if you can't get your computer to see it your kinda (sorry to say) [email protected]#&. Can your computer see it at all. Not so much the program Odin but computer it self. Been a long time but it should be some where in the Device manager somewhere

Hrmmm, Odin can't see it?? Comp won't see it??? Any luck getting into recovery/download mode?

Freezing at initial android set up?

I just got my brand new OP3, opened it and turned it on to start setting it up, it freezes inside the android set up and then restarts itself after a few seconds of being frozen.
Any solutions? I really don't want to return it, I find it a bit stupid it doesn't even work out of the box
Might be a dud. They happen. RMA it.

I don't own this phone, but this happened to me with a Nexus, I turned it off, was able to get into recovery mode with button combinations, then I factory reset, cleared cache, and rebooted, it was fine.
I hope you can give it a try

Tried doing the Factory reset thing, no luck. Talked to OP support and the guy told me to submit a ticket with my issues, and that a "level 2 technician" would help me.
So I got home and plugged it into my PC, turns out the phone doesn't freeze when plugged in via USB. But on the included charger, and without being plugged into anything, it freezes and reboots itself in a continuous loop.
Keep us informed I'd like to hear what the problem/solution is

I also had my Oneplus 3 in a bootloop and freezing while showing either the 1+ square or the rotating red dots.
After I tried to get it repaired by talking with support and had been using my old phone for a few days and reflashing the ROM and recovery many times. I got it working again (ish) now it only freezes ones a day.
Support is a pain, I'm waiting for a level 2 techician for almost a week now.
So I any of you know a solution or have a confirmation that it is a hardware failure, I think we all would like to hear about it.
