Hello,
We purchased a used GN the other day from someone on Craigslist. I checked the phone out (or I thought I did). Went through camera, speakphone, wifi, gps, no water damage and so on.
But after activation when using the internal headset we get a static noise that you hear through out the call and the other party does too. If you change to speakerphone all is clear and sounds great. Switch back to headset and the noise is there again. You can press mute and the other party no longer hears the static.
Is this a mic issue?
If you press mute the other party will no longer hear anything. It does sound like a front mic issue to me.

Hello,
I do not use the phone feature very often, but recently I had to take some calls while driving and could hardly understand what the other person is saying, because the speaker phone volume is really low.
Now, of course I set the volume to max and checked every setting I could find related to phone calls. I even went into the service menu and did the speaker tests. There I realized that the speaker phone is using a different speaker as the one that is used to play back music or other sounds. The same sound sample is used in the tests and it is much softer in the speaker phone test compared to the mono or stereo speaker tests.
Is there any hack, setting or configuration file change I can do to use the mono or stereo speaker for the speaker phone feature?
Please help, this is the only gripe with this fine phone I have.
Same problem here.
Solutions, anyone?

Just wondering if anyone has tried Skype, Google Hangouts or the like where you have the call volume set to max?
I can hear the other party just fine, but they tell me that from my end the sound is very muffled. I finally figured out that I can solve this by turning the volume down 2 or 3 notches, but then I can only make the call in a quiet room or else I can't hear them properly!
I reckon what must be happening is that the phone is trying to compensate for the speaker and mic being so close together (stopping feedback) that at loud volume it just aggressively cancels too much out which then includes my own voice.
So now I think I also know why normal speakerphone/handsfree phone calls are so soft in volume - Sony have deliberately knobbled it as a workaround rather than fixing the core issue. But other apps are allowed to use a higher speaker volume and so run into this issue if using the microphone as well.
hi everyone, my lg g pro came briefly in contact of water, after quickly drying it, every thing was working normally as of before except during calls when i'm using headset, i hear a background static noise and i still hear the person at the other end but mixed with whistling and cracking, the thing is the static noise disappears when i use it normally without headset or when on speaker, also no noise when i listen to music or surfing the net though headset.
what i did i opened it, cleaned the inside including the motherboard with isopropyl, still the same problem.
please any help of any kind will be appreciated, as you all know the headset use is crucial and it's getting really annoying.
Hello,
have a problem with my HTC 10 when I make standard call there is no any problems, but when I switch call to loudspeaker people tell that they can't hear me, phone usually lie on the desk during this calls.
Is this hardware issue, or software? I use Viper ROM. This phone have two microphones right, which one is used with loud speaker call?
Hello, the same speaker like without Loudspeakermode. Try another ROM at first Stockrom, shouldn't help this i recommend to contact your seller.
speaker no matter if phone is at the ear or call is in "speaker" mode works without any problem,
my problem is with microphone but only on "speaker" mode because then other side can't hear me.
to resolve it, I've bored out the microphone hole on the bottom of the case enough to make sure the mic is fully exposed and that appears to have done the trick.
Hi, there.
I've using my S9 for a couple of weeks now and I noticed a very annoying problem.
If I'm on a call (phone call, video call, regardless the app), using the speakerphone completely ruins it. On a video call it's easier to feel the problem: you can still see me talking, but you can't hear anything. The voice keeps fading out and back in and out again, like the volume was lowered and put back to normal. It's basically impossible to understand anything. Quality of the image is fine, it's smooth, not pixelated, but the voice is just terrible.
If I use the earpiece or wired phones (have not tried with BT yet) this problem doesn't happen.
I have the feeling that this has to do with the noise cancelling trying to filter out the noise.
When calling my wife (Xiaomi Mi A1), it also happens from her side to the point where we can't do video calls anymore. If I call my sister (iPhone 7), the audio is just fine for the same app and on a video call.
I have the feeling that this is a known issue, but I couldn't find a post about it.
