Please help me... I unlocked bootloader, it wiped all my phone, then rooted hoping to get some sort of backup. No luck. Can you please help? Lost my 2 week old's baby photos due to stupidity.
David
try this: http://www.wondershare.com/disk-utility/recover-deleted-photos-from-nexus-s-and-galaxy-nexus.html
if that doesnt work, you might be out of luck.
Thanks Zep... unfortunately this doesn't work with the Galaxy Nexus, as it doesn't have an SD card and isn't recognized by the program.
there are some apps that have require root access that i have heard you can use to restore deleted files

Sorry dude that sucks. Even though some people may hate it that is the benefits of the cloud.
Google+ uses an instant upload function that automatically uploads pictures taken from your phone into Google Photo's. DropBox has a similar feature which also syncs your photos into the cloud storage. Google+ edges dropbox out because it allows you to view photos sitting in the cloud Google Photos/Picasa directly in your gallery.
I am consistently wiping and changing ROMS on my phone so I opted to not have anything major physically stored on it. All my albums are store in Google+ Photos and are not shared, they are private and only visible to me. So if I ever have to wipe..say I am on vacation and my phone gets stolen and I have to do a remote wipe before transferring the pictures I snapped over, I know they were probably uploaded to Google Photos and I won't lose any candids.
Thanks Zep.,
These progs. unfortunately aren't working with ICS. I really appreciate your advice. Thanks again.
Dave
I'm sorry to hear you lost your photos, but every post about unlocking your bootloader states that it will wipe your phone.
Per the previous post, think about using Google+, Drive, or Dropbox.
I hope you are able to recover the photos.
Thanks for the advice. I'll try to somehow backdoor install "undelete for root users" on my phone and see if it'll work with ics.

U should post/ask this in the actually Google / android forums, yes sounds crazy since ur basically hacking ur phone but if they didn't want us to do it they wouldn't give us stock images and way to relock bootloader, its worth a try ... if anyone would no its them
Currently there is no android app that can restore files deleted off an ext4 partition (which is what the GNex uses). Not sure if there is anything available in Linux, but if so, you should theoretically be able to find some way to mount the /sdcard and use the Linux program. Haven't looked into it myself though.

Hi guys.
So I've been using Instant upload for a long time now and I like the option to have extra copies of my images stored in the cloud in case something happens to my phone or something like that. Everything works great except one thing.
From time to time I get new folders in gallery, albums of pictures that are already in the main "Instant Upload" album are showing up alone. Sorted in the Y/M/D format (usually). That wasn't a big deal, I downloaded Perfect Tool for Picasa and dealt with it by deleting extra albums, and only leaving album "Instant Upload" undeleted. And for a few days everything is good again. And a few weeks back problems started, by problems I mean something that Google changed. New captured pictures are uploaded but put into the separate folders and again, sorted by date. That just looks ugly in the Gallery.
So my question is next.
Is it possible to keep the option for Instant Upload but make it not visible in the Gallery ? I'd really like that.
If there's the need to use a different Pictures Viewer, let it be.
Please, someone answer.
Thank you for reading.
I think you have to uncheck the synchronization with Instant Upload and Google Photos in accounts' settings, then clear gallery's cache if needed.
But won't that disable uploading photos to the cloud ?
Still need help with this, if anyone knows anything about how this works, please help out.
I'm having the exact same experience. Apparently it's a known issue and Google is already working on a resolution.

P.S. This is not a Gnex specific issue... it's happening on all phones.
hey all,
recently my friend had an update(4.3) on his phone from samsung, after which he lost all his picture. Is there any way, he can get all his picture?
i checked his google+ photos but it stored only the recent ones !! would be glad if anyone could help me out find a way to get his picture
thanks
Just got the M8 and love it as I knew I would. I had the M7
But the galleries for HTC are so different than any other makers. Samsung mainly
Samsung's gallery is straightforward. HTC? Not so much. I never used 100Media, didn't know what it was and my camera/videos/wallpaper folders worked fine
Now I have the Gallery on HTC. I know how to use the basics of it, hide files etc, and I see the Zoe's up top. My question for this gallery is: is there a way to isolate simply the pictures you have taken with a camera, not the videos with it, and not any other pics like my wallpapers. It seems like I get all of them or my vids and camera pics
What is more confusing is the fact that I don't need to use that. I started using Quikpic for the purpose of fixing the date, enabling sorting from date etc. I was told and experienced Android is very inconsistent with that. I love Quik Pik
But with the HTC it is a little confusing
I was told that HTC created the 100Media? ...by the app creator. Yet I could swear that I saw it on previous phones. Nexus, Samsung, etc.
In any case, the Zoe's are supposed to go there. I can answer my own question. They don't appear there because just as another phone that doesn't do Zoe's can't play a Zoe, nor can an app, correct
Help me understand if I changed things to be the way they should be, for this app, and for this phone
I just moved all my camera pics to 100Media I believe it works perfect. New camera pics show there. BUT there are about 5 or 6 files that I delete, could restart the phone and they come back.
Any ideas would be appreciated

Hi,
Just got my XL today. Trying to see if the Lens app is active and working.
Anyone have it working and how to get at it??????
Sorry for the basic questions,
Ken
It works for me. Take a picture, view it and then press the press the square icon at the bottom. It will search and give results.
It only works while viewing the picture in Google photos right now though. Supposedly future updates will integrate it in directly in the camera and other apps.
Ok,
Thanks guys, didn't know you had to take picture first then look.
I was trying to just put the camera on a subject.
