I guess they didn't make one so I don't think you will have any luck finding one at the moment

I'm using the verizon extended battery with my sprint gnex. I had to trim some of the tabs for the battery cover to fit correctly and it says verizon but I have a ringke slim case on anyway so you don't see that. Not that it would matter.

I just picked this up. It fits under the sprint cover pretty well. I little bulge but it went right back into my case mate pop case so I'm not worried. The Verizon back just needs to have 2 of the tabs trimmed down. They clearly made 2 of the tabs not line up between the two phones, but that's the only difference. Anyone know of a good way to remove the vzw logo without messing up the finish?

A month or two ago, I went into a Sprint store in Chicago and asked the guy what could be causing my battery to overheat and die so quickly, and he said there was a defect with the battery that comes with the Galaxy Nexus, and that he had just read an internal memo that Sprint was going to be offering a FREE replacement extended battery, but wasn't sure when. So I called customer care, and after hounding them for 30 min, they ended up calling the Sprint store I went to and the guy I had talked to helped them find the memo he was talking about. They made a note on my account and told me to call back in a couple weeks because it was going to be issued mid-August.
I chatted with a Sprint customer care agent today, and here's what he said about it:
Customer: I do have one more quick question for you
Vincent W.: OK.
Customer: I had called a couple weeks ago, a Sprint employee at a sprint store told me that Sprint was going to be issuing free extended batteries for the galaxy nexus since there was some defect with the battery, they made a note on my account after they had found the memo that the employee was referring to, do you know what the status is on that?
Vincent W.: Let me check this for you.
Customer: Cool thanks!
Vincent W.: Yes. There is an account note.
Vincent W.: The offer will be available on Aug 19, 2012.
Vincent W.: As per previous account notes on your account.
Customer: Oh wow, so Sunday? Do I call in to get it, or do I go to a local Sprint store?
Vincent W.: Yes, please visit the local store.
Vincent W.: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
So I guess they're offering the free replacement extended batteries in store on Sunday.

I just spoke to a chat lady about this myself. I was curious as I figured I'd be able to find one to at least buy online, but it looks like the website won't have link to it for a bit (unless they wait till the 19th to post it). She did confirm what you're saying and that the store's themselves do have them, so I guess the original way they said they were going to give them out (phone and website with a promo code) may have changed.
For all of you interested it may be worth a trek down to the Sprint store Sunday to check it out.

Hmmmm. A defect? Don't we use the same battery that Verizon uses? I hope these battery's Are free. And are available at most stores. So anyone hear any updates about ordering via telesales?

How many hours do you get on the extended battery. I've had mine in for 2 days now and I average like 6-7, and that's not cool, I would of hoped for at least 10 or so.. Maybe I didnt charge it correctly when I first got it?

Usage varies. Keep in mind its only 2100mah. 13% increase from stock. So do the math

Everyone keeps posting "promo code" but what is it? Does this free battery only avail for those who purchased an extended battery from sprint (didnt think they even had one) or will they give it to those with the stock Sprint battery? Thanx

VZW replacements are crap...should I switch to the Galaxy S3? UPDATE: VICTORY! BOOYA!

Long story short I have had three replacements and they have all been crap. They offered to send me a different phone, but I turned them down and said I would just send my phone to Samsung for repair, but I don't really want to do that anymore. So o have been thinking about calling them and getting it replaced with the Galaxy S3.
The only thing I am afraid of though is that they are going to tell me I can't get the S3 because it is more expensive than the nexus... I know I can fight the fact the specs on the RAZR are inferior to the Nexus, but how do I fight the specs on the Reazound if they try to offer that to me?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
UPDATE: After talking to multiple customer service reps, they told me the only thing that they could do for me was update me to the DROID RAZR...I told them that that is not a "comparable device" and all of the multiple service reps still wouldnt budge. They even went as far as to tell me that their system WILL NOT allow them to upgrade me to the Galaxy S3. Anyway, so I was fed up with the customer service B.S. and so I emailed their executive office. After about two days, I received an email from them asking for the account info and some contact info. They told me that under normal circumstances they wouldnt do this, but she told me the issue I was complaining about with my Galaxy Nexus was a know issue, but at the moment, they dont have a fix for it. She also told me that the customer service people were lying. That the system will let them do it, but it is just a little more difficult. The only thing that I am kind of knit picky about is that theyre sending me the blue one, because they dont have any white ones left, but its whatevs...at least I am getting a free phone and I won.
A couple people here and at Rootz have stated that after speaking with supervisors and pushing the specs that they have been offered CLNR S3's but I have had no such luck...The Razor Maxx was the end of the line
That's ridiculous... the RAZR Maxx has an older chipset and a smaller lower resolution screen

Gf will be going on her third gnex vzw replacement due to dropping signal losing data while mine is strong 4g. The third should be here tomorrow. If it doesn't work I'm pushing for an S3 and she wants my nexus and I'll take the s3 now that the bl's are unlocked.
They noted my account to state this is the last gnex they will send and after that they will try to negotiate a different phone. Helped that the current problem phone dropped data while I was on the phone with tech and they saw it happen. Also helps they screwed up on their end and sent a regular RAZR as a replacement the first time.
Think I may have a shot at getting one.

Wait a couple months and then activate it. I did that with a phone given to my aunt. It wouldn't work when I first tried then a couple months later I tried again and it worked and got activated. I guess after a certain period the esn gets cleared out the system. Hmm maybe when the account is sent to the credit collectors the phone gets cleared out.

Verizon hardly ever clears esn's. I lost a blackberry I had on vzw and swapped to a flip phone, found the blackberry and they still wouldn't clear the esn, even tho I was the original owner and it was only swapped, I never even officially reported it lost/stolen. I had just called and said I needed to swap phones cuz id misplaced the active one, never filed a claim or anything. That stupid blackberry is still blacklisted and that was like 5 yyears ago

Ok, for all the non believers, there are many people getting this,
see here:

I can confirm they won't honor a price match, but they DID move my upgrade eligibility date up to today for me out of courtesy (was originally eligible on 12/01) so now I can go to Sam's club and buy the phone. There was no charge for them moving my date up, but I'm sure it would vary depending on your date. She also said it might take a couple hours to go through and to check by sending "upgrade" to 1311.
Either way, I should have the GS3 by this evening! Woot!

Well guys. I would definitely try tomorrow. Trust me. The memo went out to all Sprint personnel yesterday. It worked without a hitch for me and many friends. And we all got the tip from inside.
Just scored my deal thanks to a post I saw over at SlickDeals.
As I mentioned on my other post here, earlier today I called 888-273-9460 and was told that they couldn't honor any price matches from 3rd party vendors, but the rep did move up my upgrade eligibility date from 12/01 to 11/01 so that I could go to Sam's Club (or where ever) to get a new phone.
Then tonight, I chatted up customer service and was told the same thing - they don't offer price matches.
Then I saw this post and decided to give it a try and man, I'm glad I did!
I took the *2 route and eventually got through to the cancellations department.
I simple informed the rep that I was calling to see how long it would take for them to release my phone number if I switched carriers because I was upset and was considering it. She gave me the info I asked for and then asked the million dollar question - why I wanted to switch?
I explained that I was upset about having to pay $10/month for this premium data when I live in a 3G area (middle of the midwest). And in addition, I was mad about them trying to force my hand into either paying $49.99 to upgrade through their website or dealing with the madness of Black Friday crowds in an attempt to go to Sam's Club and upgrade...
Immediately, she said that she is very glad I called because she was about to make my day. She then proceeded to tell me that they are the ONLY department authorized to do this and gave me the following:
* $25 bill credit for 6 months for the premium data charge to help offset the costs until they release 4G in my area.
* A new GS3 for $.99 cents (plus ~$3 for tax)
* Waived activation
* Free overnight shipping
* Duplicate everything for the wife's account.
This is precisely why I have been a Sprint customer for 15+ years. They may not have the "fastest speeds" (not that it matters to me because I'm on WiFi 95% of the time anyway), or some of the "perks" that other carriers may promise, but they have one thing that matters more than all of the above - they have awesome customer service and they do what it takes to retain their customers.
I hear all the time - people *****ing about Verizon, AT&T, etc. and how terrible their customer service is. But aside from maybe a few occasions when I had to make 1 or 2 attempts, Sprint has never let me down. And for that, I will remain a loyal customer of theirs and enjoy my shiny new GS3 until the next big thing comes along!

If the link above doesn't work, try sprint.com/freebattery and use code BATTERY1 at checkout. Just ordered mine.
will the sprint battery work in the verizon gn without the need of a new back door?

I have an International GSM GN and have used this Sprint battery in my phone without using the new back door. I am not sure about the Verizon version.
For those who are asking if this a US specific deal. The answer is yes, this is only for US. I am not a Sprint customer but I was still able to order online from them.
Thanks for the link. mine comes on Thursday. But I have a bunch of cases will any of then work or an I f*****?

I hit the lottery today....went to sprint and got the last otterbox defender on clearance for $19.00.
And now a battery for $6.50? The good life.

Do you have to be a sprint costumer in order to buy it?

I am not a Sprint customer but I still ordered online and received this battery.
I received mine on the 4th. No, you don't have to be a sprint consumer. Payment is through credit card.

OK cool, Will they work with VZGnex?
Yes it will, but it will have a sprint logo on the back cover.

Just ordered this, thought I couldn't before but you can in fact just make an account without being a Sprint customer.
Got the battery for $6.50 which was just the shipping price.
In Google Chrome for the Windows, the buy now key link was dead, so I had to do it in Internet Explorer.
I even got an annoying chat window from a sprint representative asking if I needed help ordering or if I wanted to start a Sprint contract. I'll post again once I receive the battery.
Anyone know if this will fit the gsm variants of the nexus?

What would you do?

As of August 1st I have been eligible for an upgrade. Also.. I am no longer in contract with sprint.
On a side note, I travel the world (primarily in the US though) for my career.
What phone would you get? S4? HTC One? Hold out for the Motorola X (I love that phone despite the somewhat mid tier specs)?
Would you switch carriers? Wait for the next nexus? Any other rumored phones on the horizon?
I feel like I do not want to renew my contract just yet and no device particularly stands out to me just yet (aside from my Motorola X curiosity).
As the title suggests.... What would you do? Hold out for nexus on a gsm and ditch? I'm SO TORN!

Also, with travelling the country... Are they known for good data in most major cities (sprint certainly is not)?
I primarily work in Seattle, Los Angeles, new York, Las Vegas, Hollywood, Florida, Atlanta (sometimes). The other countries I primarily work in are Germany, France, London and possibly soon will be in Japan more frequently.
Obviously gsm is a better choice if overseas trips continue to happen more often... Mostly concerned with coverage in the US though as I can get by (well enough) using Google voice and wifi in Europe... Although that has SCREWED me over few times...
I think I'm mostly hung up on devices at this point. I may just bite the bullet and buy the next lte nexus and attempt to be contract free...
So far away though and I am so tired of the sgsii...

The GSM S4 Google Edition (basically a Nexus) should be coming out really soon.

If only it had nexus pricing!

Do not do the new program that t-mobile and AT&T are doing. It is absolute BS. Not only do you pay the full amount over a 2 year contract, if you want to upgrade, you are required to give the device back. You are essentially renting the device from them for the full price. If you want to cancel your contract early , you are required to pay the rest of the full retail price of the device at the time of purchase and pay the ETF. Go with the original plan options if you go contract.

Yes, this goes along with the article I posted in response to my first responder. Those plans are garbage...
If only the Motorola X had been the cheap off contract phone everyone was waiting for

@EmperorX sounds like we may be in the same industry. I get great reception wherever I travel and I think I'll hold out for my S4 or HTC One or whatever awesome device that's out when I'm do for my upgrade in November. Plus the hotels give us free WiFi.

After doing more research and reading a ton of reviews... I may just go with the Motorola X phone
Not sure if I'm going to stick with sprint or not. Will decide next month.

Not to burst your bubble, but I feel it is a deal breaker for me, no sd card support on the Moto X
32 gigs is enough for me (when that variant comes to everyone). Only stuff I store locally is Spotify music. Everything else auto uploads to the cloud essentially.
We'll see though... Note 3 on the horizon... Too many choices!

I don't like relying on the cloud, I store everything locally, I guess 32 gb would be enough if we get one with that much memory. Just wanted you to be aware of that.

I like it. But I'm a removable battery and micro SD slot kinda guy. I'll wait for the next snapdragon 800 powered phone with the above options. Note 3? S5?

If you're looking into the HTC one look the the LG G2.

If I were you, I'd wait until Sprint releases a tri-band LTE phone first, whether it be the Note 3 or Galaxy S5. I'm personally gonna be renewing my contract for the S5.
Yeah the no SD card and non removable kinda annoying me too. The Korean version has both SD slot and removable battery. Let's hope sprint can get it in their variant ... I'm banking on that if they do I want to try something different than Samsung

New rumor from last night is that there will be TWO nexus variants in Q4. One from Lg (based off of (G2) and another nexus made by Motorola (NOT based on the moto X). If either of these is cdma (probably not) I'll buy on the play store and stay contract free.
Given that they will most likely be gsm only... I would most like the Motorola nexus, if true, and switch to tmobile. Contract free of course...
