I am looking for a light sensor solution like on the IPhone. If u get a call and you put the phone at your ear, the phone screen gets dark, thats normal,
but what is, if I want to turn on speaker or something during a call? I allways have to press the ON/OFF button.
At the Iphone, they got a better solution for that.
Can anayone manage a little plugin cab or does anyone know a registry solution?
you need Touch_InCall_Screen_Tweak, It can do what you want but it is not using the light sensor.
It uses the G-Sensor, when the device is not in vertical position (closed to your ear), phone will wake up automatically and sleeps again when you take it close to your ear to speak (vertical position).
thank u for your reply, but I want a light sensor app.
Am not sure
but there isnt a light sensor in the blackstone to start with

i think you'r wrong m8 ... From what i know there is a light sensor in blackstone
the blackstone has a light sensor next to the ear speaker. It is oossibble to turn it on. but wehen you remove it from your ear, the light does not turn back on
Search for "PocketShield", this program has the requested feature, and much more.
yes, 3.0 is very cool

Pocket Shield is not freeware and is definetly not what I want.
I just look for a solution auto-lock un-lock when you remove or taken to the ear.
Microsoft developers will read this thread and bring it into new builds.
Ok, try this one. It seems to be available for free or at least the minimum version ,the full version is around the 7 $. You can measure the Brightness at your workplace, in rooms, use it for Photography or to set up aquariums and terrariums. Works fine although I use it just like for fun maybe is useful for your work.

The software is called Kai's Luxmeter pro 1.2

I dont want a Luxmeter, if I want a Luxmeter than I take mToolbox.
I tried Pocket Shield and after uninstalling this program, the light sensor does not work anymore.
Try TICST
really, just try it.

This is what you want to adequately switch the screen off as it comes to your ear and then on again as it comes away from your ear.
I've been using it on a an HD since March/April and it works flawlessly. It even has intelligent options to handle bluetooth calls and control of the speakerphone.
hmmm sounds good but what happens if you get a call at night and there's no light?
Need a combination of light sensor and g-sensor I think.
Yes it has it - please just try it before finding problems with it. It will work for you!!!

Yes this is one of the biggest problems with lightsensor...
Tested the detection range with mToolbox and Lumos - and it shows "0" very early even if there's a bit light around - so the light sensor in-call-detection wont work very good.
How is it solved at iPhone?
BTW:
[APP]Touch InCall Screen Tweak v1.2.0 - Updated 3 Sep 09 - Battery Drain Fix
So it doesn't use the light sensor then?
From v1.0.6 it DOES use the light sense to detect if it is against your ear. This is really a double check to back up the orientation. It doesn't use it to determine if it's away from your ear because the sensor doesn't seem to work when the screen is off, so it's of no use for switching the screen back on.
so - what else you want?
The iPhone doesn't use the light sensor to toggle screen, it uses proximity sensor - it turns off the screen when something approaches the area near the speaker and turns it back on when there's nothing near it.
Light sensor can't work reliably because you can get a call in a dark room.
TICST is a workaround using both the light sensor and the g-sensor, it's rather good but not perfect.
A perfect solution requires hardware that's missing in Touch HD. HTC HD2 will have the proximity sensor so screen toggling will be working there, hopefully.
Hey there,
my screen was broken and i fixed it by myself (i had no warranty anymore, so...)
Screen is working well now, but the keys on the bottom won't light up.
Anyone has experience with that and could give me a tip, what i could do?
Thanks,
Prexx
I am using Miui, and there are settings to manually calibrate brightness levels and key light levels. You should check that out
My first guess is that you somehow accidentally might have disconnected a cable which leads to the lights. You might want to open it up again and recheck all connections.
check if its a hardware prob or software try several roms of the same results i suggest u fixe the light prob in any htc center
Hey, stupid question for devs out there.
In my original Froyo rom the proximity sensor broke when I dropped the phone (I have tried proximity calibrator its actual hardware failure)
The most annoying thing was that when I turned the screen off during a call it would turn on again when the call connected...
screen off, call... wait to connect...connect... screen on... turn screen off.. Talk
This problem was fixed in Rcmix3D 4.0 and ARHD 6.0 (not the proximity sensor) I could turn the screen off after pressing call and it wouldn't turn on again (unless I pressed the power button)
Now I'm in cm7 the problem is back.. My question is how hard would it be to change this... I know it's a very ad hoc request.. so if someone could just point me in the right direction that would be great. Is it a hidden setting? A driver? a massive job or something I could do myself?
Just to clarify this has nothing to do with the proximity sensor itself just the software turning the screen on when the call connects. Ty
In My Guess Its Related To Hardware Problem Same thing Happened When My Friend DHD Felt In The Snow So You Should Hit Htc Center And Let The Fix it for you. You Can Also Try Sense 3.0 Roms There is A Lot, If The Problem Persists Than Its Hardware.
Hope That Helped
i found something that is really irritating me. watching any movie or stream FULLSCREEN is very anoying due to the light of physical buttons-->the light (backround) is auto enabled when in dark and WHITE. so i cant concetrate on the screen because the white light is there!
i was wondering is there anyway to switch them off? i mean only d light. the buttons randomly apear and disapear, i would be extremly happy if anyone can help me.
i even tried different players, but the LIGHT is still there...
thanks - sorry for my english, writing in hurry and anger )

Anyone have some tips?
So recently my phone's screen had just been going black while I was receiving, making and mid phone calls. Including Skype Calls. So my search around the web came to the conclusion that it was the proximity sensor that caused this.
I'm rooted, running CM 12 and had been for 3 months until this issue arrived so I don't think it's from the ROM or the fact i'm rooted but if i'm to run a diagnostic on the sensor it always produces, "near"

I can't post images or links yet ;-; so you'll just have to edit that screenshot a little bit to view it.
so I have evidence to believe that it's 100% busted and I don't really feel safe with unscrewing the back of my phone to try and fix it, is there any way that I can just disable it? I have Hardware Disabler but I don't know the driver name. Also I cannot install Xposed also for this reason:

Just wanting to bump this.
I have exactly the same problem with my G3, and unfortunatly have not found a solution yet.
With roms based on the original G3 rom I can somehow answer a call, and then the screen goes black, but after that I cannot end the call. With roms like PA or CM I can't answer a call (the screen goes black as soon as it rings), but I can end the call with the power button when I call someone myself. In the beginning the proximity sensor sometimes did show a distance other than 0, but now it's just stuck to 0. I'm fairly certain the actual sensor is just broken, and I hope there is just a simple mod or something to disable it completely, or a way to anwser calls with the volume or power button.
I have also tried the Hardware DIsabler app, and googled all the drivers it showed, but I couldn't find the proximity sensor.

Yup. I'd really enjoy a solution, it's just a constant issue for me.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one though haha!
Is it possible to enter this device test?
