[Q] Rooted Stock Sense & Gingerbread ROM? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've had a search, but can't find a rooted stock Sense Gingerbread ROM?
Are there any?

Desire android development and scroll down. Its titled "rooted stock 2.3 rom"
Sent from my HTC Desire

Many thanks for that, but it's had bits and pieces removed etc. Anything more stock?

You cant put GB directly into the Desire, as update for the Desire GB is not ready yet, instead try GB port ROMS, like Oxygen or Ginger Villain
Here is the Desire Index, and go to links in Ginger Bread ROM section:

Ok Thank you for your answer
So, can you tell me, please, what about S-OFF, root and unlocking in case to put stock GB on my device (I found some ways how to put stock GB )?
And if I loose all of that, can I make it again as on Froyo?

S-Off information Here.
Root, unlock information Here
AdamG's DevNull rom is probably the closest thing to stock GB there is. To make it Froyo again you could Nandroid restore to your original Froyo rom, Flash on a froyo rom, or run an RUU and restore your device to an official Froyo build.

Its weird, that you have managed to do S-OFF and ROOT(ok, its not difficult) and then not sure how to do reflash of new ROM?
Anyway, if you reflash, your ROOT and S-OFF will stay, so not to worry

So, if I can have some suggestion, if you want clean, fast and most importantly stable Gingerbread, go for REDUX, its so far the best GB ROM I have tried.
But if you want Sense(I understand, I love Sense as well and it took me a while to get used on Sense free roms) then I'd recommend ReflexTSense, which unfortunately, still is 2.2, but its great HD rom, very nice, designed for big screen and everything looks smaller on original Desire(and better)

I can't say for certain that these will work with the stock ROM, but they are your best bet.
UnityV4
Virtuous Sense a7
Have you conisidered try a custom ROM? if you want to keep it as stock as possible I recommended Virtuous Sense 2.0
Try unity v4 kernel, its for all sense based runs. Let's you OC up to 1.7 ghz. Link is in my signature.

I don't actually want to try a custom ROM right now, as i really like the stock one as it is. I may well try that one though when im bored of it! Is that sense 2.1 or just 2.0?

It is sense 2.1, it is based off the official 2.3.3 DZ update, think of it as what you have all ready but with optimizations.
Oh and welcome to the DZ forums.

That is correct, download rom manager, flash CWM, boot in to CWM and flash .zip
Easy, but if you need anymore help, hop over to the Virtuous Rom IRC and I will be happy to talk you through it

There is a way but I'm very well versed in how to do it. If you read the DZ/G2 wiki it links you to a guide on to root 2.3.3.
if you need further help head to the 'G2ROOT IRC channel
I updated to the 2.3.3 OTA too, and I followed this guide here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
Worked perfectly well

[Q] how do i get 2.3.3 for desire without root.

Any way getting this without root. HTC posted 2.3.3 official and.i need to unlock bootloader. How can i do this

Dont do it official 2.3.3 sucks... and to downgrade to froyo in the future you will have to S-OFF and flash RUU which might be too hard for some people.
Either stay with Froyo or Root and use custom ROM's, trust me.

What is bullsh*t in what he is saying?
I have loads of people who wants to get away from the official gingerbread, because it s*cks on the danish android forum... Maybe some people thinks its fine, but most people who are trying it, thinks that it s*cks and they want to either go back to Froyo or get a custom ROM, which isn't easy with the official Gingerbread...
So please explain why you are saying stuff like that !!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Not easy eh, you just have to go to revolutionairy.io, click to download the program, fill in your desires serial number, you get code, run downloaded program, enable usb debugging on desire, fill in the code and the program does the rest for you.... Yeah really hard....

Didn't really wanna get into the argument but firstly, I have seen many people do the update.. and then their phone didn't even boot after it.. so well done HTC for releasing a possible phone bricker (since you can't do jack all if that happens with this RUU), You get less space on the GB update compared to Froyo (123mb vs 134mb) and there have been a few bugs reported..
HOWEVER...
You get improved battery life (by quite a margin apparently), The phone runs q lot smoother, you get the fastboot feature and better (stock) A2SD.

This argument is invalid, as you can move to SD card A LOT MORE apps and data.

[Q] Sense 3.0 on stock 2.3?

Hey Guys,
is it possible to install Sense 3.0 on a stock (rooted+s-off) HTC Desire 2.3? I didn't find anything.. I'm searching for a CWM flashable package without having to flash a whole rom..
Regards
nope, you can back up app data with many apps
stock you mean stock partitions layout or stock rom?
No you need an entire Rom. There is no generic sense patch to update only sense

I meant stock rom.. sorry.. It's a pity, that there is no patch for that.. I tried many roms and always something was there that I didn't like.. But one thing I liked very much is the sense 3.x interface.. Thanks for your answers!

Sense is basically an HTC version of Android. AOSP is stock Google android. You cannot flash anything for AOSP on a Sense rom.
