Did you modify the screen size of the ICS theme in this ROM? I tried to use it on my gio but when I rotate the screen I can't see the dock bar anymore.

Hmm... Porting of CyanogenMod is stupid idea - it's better to compile it by yourself.

I'm using it since yesterday and it work like a charm and is one of smoothest ROM I've tested.

Like add some features in cyanogenmod or make beautiful UI for Cyanogenmod
Or something for the ROM.
Each people are differents.
Need a time
Step by step.
Maybe port from now.
Build/compile several times ahead.
I am sure everyone can do it.

If he just gave an advice, he could say it more polite than that, not by saying "stupid" idea. I (maybe most people) think, that is not an advice, but it is consider as underestimate and it is not a kind of respecting people.

"Hmm, that's great!! Keep up the good work. but I think it will be better if you compile it from source. I can help you if you want. I know you can do it"
See the difference?
Which more polite?
@marcin I know you are a pro. Very pro
You and your team could bring Cm9 to our device, that's amazing. But dont just underestimate other people when you feel that you are better than him, or you feel that it is not a good idea. Respect him. So sorry that you may have to learn some manner, while you are developng android
Don't make other people hate you because of your manner.
Thanks. Sorry my bad english.

[ROM] VillainROM AOSP R2 (IML74K - 4.0.3) GSM ONLY [05 Jan] -incl Advanced Power Menu

Hasn't it been a while since I posted on here? As some of you know, I've been insanely busy with www.freeyourandroid.com (which is going immensely well, by the way), so haven't had much time to work on the custom ROM side of things. In addition, due to work obligations (conflicts of interest), I have been unable to work on certain handsets. Luckily, though, the Galaxy Nexus is my own, personal contract phone; and I am free to mod-away!
So, I present you with:
VillainROM-AOSP-R2
This is a ROM compiled directly from the Android source code repo (branch = android-4.0.3 (IML74K), with Google apps/permissions, etc added. It is of course not odexed, so first boot will take a while. Subsequent reboots will be much faster. Here are a few screenshots, as I know how many of you guys won't download a ROM unless there are screenshots in the OP :

To be honest, I have never used it. I assume so though, as I added all the missing NFC stuff.
Great to have a GS2 expert here!
Excellent, thanks for this
Is there any way to keep your data like just wiping everything but the data?
I tried a full wipe the other day and TiBackup didn't restore all my system settings like data usage n' stuff
Can't wait to try this out!!! Thanks

GREAT NEWS! Villain's ROM have always worked great, I've used it before on my GS2 and loved it.
There are plans to add a lot to this AOSP, so please feel free to post suggestions!
Any chance of a flashable ZIP for the APM? I like stock but do miss it so much!
Or just let me know which file(s) I need from this ROM to add to my handset?

I can't guarantee it'll work, but should just be android.policy.jar and framework-res.apk
Backup your ROM first as there's a good chance it'll bootloop.

Have / Could you add the custom light levels to your ROM?
The Power Controll Widget in the Taskbar, like in the SGS2 ROMS would be nice
Is it possible to modify the process priorities for the UI to give them a higher level?
Thanks
Fantastic news that this ROM has been released!
welcome and thank you!
A few of requests please:
1. % Battery Mod
2. and also the search button mod alongside the home button
3. Disable vibration on slide to unlock feature
4. View dBm option in status bar
I know some of these are available as add-ons but I am having problems in them causing the phone to freeze etc
thank you so much in advance!
Another vote for custom brightness levels, the standard ones are just too dim. The fix Paul @modaco has done works great, so something along those lines.

1. Shen keeps asking for this, so I think I will add the percentage mod and 100 images.
2. I don't personally like it, but it's a very easy mod, so I can make it a flashable option in the future!
3. Could be a good addition... will look into it
4. Don't like this one again personally, but will look into making it a flashable option
used to use a GingerVillain ROM on my Desire .... produced by RichardTrip ?
Are you part of the same developer group ? If so the GV ROM was superb and Im glad to see you on board with the Galaxy Nexus
if you could modify volume levels so we didnt need to use volume+ that would be great

We don't see much of Richard Trip any more, but yes. I set up VillainROM with Pulser in 2009.
On another note, I'll investigate the brightness mod (not actually looked into it yet), and look at adding it to the next release.

Tips / Tricks & Bugs:

+ KSM Memory Management :
Due to heavy memory load with OpenGL support, it is recommended to activate KSM to reduce the memory usage and avoid problems like random reboots. This is done by going to "Settings"->"Performance"->"Memory Management" and check "Kernel samepage merging"
You can also activate zRam if you still encounter low RAM issues
+ For all people (like me) missing some AOKP options in this ROM give Reloaded ICS 1.9b3-041012 a try ! it's great
+ + If you would like to check out the 'TabletUI' mod (check my signature for more info) I have made one for this ROM..Just dont forget to disable the navigation bar before using it : TabletUI_MOD_CM9_HD2_HWA.zip - mirror
!! Keep in mind that you can't use both of the above mods together !! Use one of them
Bugs
- When you need to reboot your phone for the first time using this rom please use the poweroff / on function
You can get stuck into a bootloop when using the reboot option and will need to pull battery..
- Black bar while using the camera (try lg camera of the market as alternative)
- Barcode scanner not working (try NeoReader of the market as alternative)

If you're not going to maintain this rom does that mean we dont need to take any logcats or report any bugs to you or will all the info we have be needed by the other developers?
Just wanna know how much those who decide to take the plunge need to put this rom to its paces.

I am by no means an expert but given that tytung is currently working off an old codebase he'll probably rebase his ROM on this. And if he won't, someone else will. Anyways, bug reports will not go amiss.

Yeah but looking at the desire thread their ICS rom had more bugs than our roms prior to HWA. I thought it was more likely that once they figured out the reason they could boot this as opposed to booting the AOKP or a direct CM9 from source they would either switch to those two more reliable sources.
But oh'well, I'm bored so I'll just switch my main number to my BB and abuse this rom through the night.

I wanted to change phone year ago, but there is always something new with HD2. Simply greatest phone ever.
Sorry HTC One X. You will have to wait

Hey.. no need to start that kind of 'drama' (sorry) already on the first page m8
I said : I won't be maintaining this for very long..
You know just as well as I do.. this is gonna be ground/base material for other devs/users to build on and make different ROMS/things out of it...
I am very busy maintaining the AOKP rom (which will need HWA also at some point) and these guys from Team Kang come with updates every week at least...
Our well respected CM9 rom maintainer tytung will probably take this over at some point and I don't think we need
3 different CM9 roms floating around (although.. I won't start counting the CM7 roms for that matter )
Besides CM9/AOKP/AOSP there are a lot of other nice ICS roms around (MIUI/SENSE) that could use some ICS love
Anyway... Post your logcats please !
I won't be around much the next couple of days, but there will probably be more people around helping out ( I hope )

Jelly Bean builds
Now Paranoid Android has their source up on Github i decided to get porting and here it is. Ok so we know Android 4.0 introduced Phone UI and Tablet UI and now in Android 4.1 Phablet UI too! but Paranoid Android gives option to chose which one you want to use for what application. For me being used to Phone UI back on Gingerbread and having a lower DPI is what i love but when i used ICS i loved the tablet apps but missed my Phone UI so i changed my DPI down to 240 didn't like it then 200 then 180 etc. and just couldn't find a sweet spot and still missed the tablet apps.
But now with Paranoid Android (based on CM10 so includes all of their features and more!) i can select Phone UI, Phablet and Tablet UI even if i go past the boundaries (Tablet UI:≥160dpi PhoneUI:≤240dpi) and still change it for it for each individual app. (look at the pics aboce and you will see )
This Rom is compiled by source by me. Use Settings > Paranoid Settings to edit all of your apps. now this edits the files located in /system/etc/paranoid/ please do not manually edit these on your device because this may cause the whole hybrid system to break and don't worry. if this happens use a file manager like es file manager and delete the 'paranoid' folder located in /system/etc/ and then flash one of the layout preferences located in the Downloads Section.
I used the Device and vendor files that THE TE4M have been kindly developing for months! Thank you for you hard work!!!

Any chance of adding clarification on which Galaxy Tab's this rom supports...
Considering the main bulk of remaining developers use the GSM tabs, people like me with CDMA tabs (P1C) are quite often left out due to compatibility!
I'm waiting on Paranoid Android to merge their framework base source into their tree. it shouldn't be to long as the rest builds except for the framework base. as soon as it is merged i will build then release it to you guys

I will support your tab when i have got the rom out on the p1. I only have to use a different kernel and and your device files and it should be as easy as that.

Ok , if you are using CM9 or AOKP rom you are on MTD .
Speaking of MTD and non-MTD. My tab is definitely non-MTD. I'm running the most recent AOKP rom before they converted to MTD.
Can someone give me a TL : DR version of converting to MTD without bricking the stupid thing?
Edit: HELL FREAKING YES PA ON MY TABLET! I can't say enough good things about this rom.

Nice... lucky you
That being said, I really wish I knew how to setup CM9 to be non-MTD... on all devices I have tried, I/O and RAW Read/Write have been faster with EXT4 then MTD setup (shining example is my TF101 or Asus Transformer, some things just became smooth as butta with all partitions as EXT4)
i can see its been asked already....but dont see an answer.
for which model is this for ?
maybe put model# in title so you dont get a bunch of spam in here.

copied "paranoidpreferences.apk" in rom before installing, it's there but i can't change in-app density, the slider stays at zero and doesn't react.
i used the .apk from Xylo's pacman 1.2
btw, all sliders don't work

you really shouldnt ask for help in here out of respect to the PA team who I'm sure have their good reasons for not wanting their software used.

I guess people will complain about this issue if it really exists and is unsolvable because without pa preferences working many of the apps will stay in tablet mode by default which i guess some user's don't like

Changelog V2:
* Deleted some unnecessary apps and also all ringtones/alarms/notification sounds (to have more free system memory)

Yes everything is clean, but the rom looks like stock cm11 for now, i only did some tweaks to improve the performance. :good:
By the way , you can download my own launcher at the download section in the first post... keep in your mind that it isn't finished yet and that it's only for performance so there are no widgets and additions for my launcher
I'm always looking to test new ROMs on my device so I'm going to install this one as soon as possible. I will get back here with a new post if I encounter any issues or have suggestions.

Finally, what about CodeRom on vibrantmtd ?
One day later, I have a bit of feedback:
The ROM is really, really smooth, much smoother than expected and smoother than other ROMs that I've tried recently. It almost never hangs up and it's a pleasure to use it. I truly enjoy this fact and I'm quite surprised that Subway Surfers runs quite nice with the 1000 MHz settings (I've just activated the Developer Options and upped the CPU to 1200 MHz, so I've yet to try the game under these settings). I usually see this game as a benchmark for a "fast" ROM and I haven't been disappointed.
Occasionally, I receive the "Exchange Services has closed" error - two moments that I remember were related to Gmail sync and to logging in on my Reddit account with the Reddit is fun app.
Also, is there a way to remove the Albert Einstein images from the contacts that do not have already a photo assigned?
Thanks and keep up the good work!
