When ever a friend see my galaxy nexus they always comment how massive it is.
Personally when I first got it I thought it was huge too the first day. Now it seems normal sized to me. I did notice how thin it was though.
What do you guys think?
coming from the S2 it felt slightly bigger, however i got used to it very quickly, feels really good using just one hand. once the One X came out and i held my friends one, it made the nexus feel slightly better in the hand
its got a very nice feel to it and it'll probably feel even smaller once i try out the S3
It's still too big, but it's the best phone choice currently, so I will be happy with it. Hopefully when Google fleshes out the Nexus line in November, there will be additional size choices.
I have fairly large hands, but when I hold the phone in my right hand, my thumb cannot reach the top-left portion of the screen without losing balance of the phone. Lack of one-handed operation is going to be a showstopper for most people.
Its a touch too big. I'd prefer if they could've either dropped the screen size to ~4.5" or reduced the physical dimensions by a couple mm each way.
Coming from the galaxy note it feels like a tic tac box. But I think it has the perfect form factor
Sent from rooted Jitterbug running ICS
One-handed, with a little effort, I can touch anywhere on the display. So it's not too big for me.
I think its a great size. I was a big fan of the 4.3" screens, but the extra .35" really makes a difference. Its a good difference.
My sister saw my GN today for the first time. She said "wow the screen looks so nice, but why is it so big?"
She has an iPhone and I responded with "why is yours so small?" Sibling rivalry never ends.

I can barely reach the far top left corner when holding it with only my right hand. I would much prefer a 4.4 inch which I think is a nice sweet spot to all this massive phone war.
Hopefully the next Nexus will either remain the same or drop it down a notch.
It seems normal sized now, coming from my OG epic 4g.. its a monster. Definetly difficult to handle with one hand but once you get the grip just right its pretty seamless.
Wish phones would go back to a 4in screen size. This phone is nice. But massive.

I have slightly smaller hands but I've adjusted to holding my nexus with one hand in some strange grip that seems to work lol... this adjustment just makes it so much easier for me and I can probably handle a bigger phone in the same way. I'll try with my brother's Note.
I guess the gnex is the perfect size for me, I quickly got used to it and now it feels so normal and everything else is tiny at times I feel like my screen isn't big enough lol
After trying the Note, the GNex is small.
Coming from an iPhone (Which I previously thought was the perfect size), this phone seemed huge at first. After a few days though, the size really grew on me. Now, I can't imagine ever going back to a phone with a smaller screen. I was playing around with my mom's iPhone yesterday, and it felt like a toy!
It's too small
That Note...that felt perfect in my hand...
The phone fits and feels perfect in my hand. Although I think anything bigger than this would be to big for my liking.

Same goes for me too. Every time I pick up my brothers iPhone it feels like a tiny toy to me and I have trouble pressing buttons on the screen since they're so small thanks to the screen.
If you've made it this far continue on with a straight face.

It's really weird, any time someone let's me use their iPhone (or similar sized screen), I always remark at how ridiculously small it looks. I don't see myself ever getting a phone that has a smaller screen.
I saw a phone coming soon (already out overseas) that has a 5.something screen. Thing is a beast, but looks fantastic.

it was probably the galaxy note. that thing is too big. i've seen people holding dell streaks up to their face and i had to run the other way i was laughing so hard. it was like they were talking to a book in public. all nonchalant and ****.
I don't really consider it a 4.65" since I rarely watch videos, which is the only time it actually uses it.
However, I don't think I can go back to hardware keys, these virtual keys are just gorgeous and makes the overall phone feel very futuristic and sleek.
Once you go big though, you can't go back , I was actually wanting the Note, too bad it didn't have pentaband (the ONE thing that is stopping me from getting the note ). Hopefully Note II will be just like Nexus - just bigger and has t-mobile radio.
Heh yah, I think that's the one. It looks totally ridiculous, but I want one in a weird way.
Quality sucks
For me, Galaxy Nexus quality sucks!
Day one the volume bug!
Then, my phone arrived and applied the fix. After that I'm getting reboots every time I get a missed call, and every time I try to make a call! I haven't installed any software on it. It is just faulty out-of-the-box!
I'm reminded of when I had my Galaxy S phone. After having its internal SD card fail, I had to go back to my HTC Touch while waiting for the replacement.... going to Windows Mobile 6.1 was bad enough.... but dropping down to a 2.8" display was even worse.
When I had my S II, I noticed how much smaller a 3.7" display was as well. Let's just say I hope my current phone doesn't die anytime soon.
My previous phone was a nexus s. The usb port died and Samsung said it would take 6 to 8 weeks to get it back repaired.
I went to my carrier to see what kind of phone I could get cheap and in the end I got an iphone 4s thinking I could sell it once I got my nexus back and make a little money. After a week with the iphone I was going nuts. Everything seemed to take twice as long to do, going in and out of apps. I guess I got used to real multitasking with ics on my nexus s.
Anyway, I sold the iphone and bought a galaxy nexus off someone for 480 CAD thinking I could sell the nexus s once I got it back. Now I have been using it for about a week now and for some reason it just doesn't feel quite right in my hands. I am still waiting for the case I ordered maybe that will make it feel a little better in the hand but right now it actually feels like my hand is getting tired from holding it. I find myself having to keep changing positions just to use the phone.
I love the massive screen, but I am wondering if this trend of making phones bigger and bigger is not the best idea or will I end up adjusting to it? I know when I was looking something up on my friends iphone today I kept thinking, Holy crap this thing is way too small.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I adjusted to it rather easily. Granted there are times when you realize that the phone is big, sometimes I find that it 'rests' on my pinky finger while I am holding it and making acrobatics to hit the top row or notification bar with my thumb, but once I used it for a while, I fell in love with the size.
You don't interact with your phone frequently, the most frequent activities that you are doing - like texting or answering calls - is still very easy despite the screen size. Other activities, like games and video content, is much better on that screen. And browsing benefits immensely.
So I think it's the right call. It's not the ideal size, I would not mind if it was slightly smaller, but I'm finding it difficult to use anything that's as small as my previous phone these days (I used HTC Desire).
Buying a case will only make it alittle bit bigger from my experience ...my hands are large...I love my phone...though a gel case will help from slipping from the rubber grip I suppose..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
At first I thought it would be too big, but after using it a little bit it felt perfect.
Sometimes I cant hit buttons on the other side of the screen when using one hand, but that isn't too often.
Other phones are too small for me now.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I didn't want to upgrade my NS when they announced GN because I think it's too big for a phone.
Last week I played with the live unit on a shop..and walked away with GN in my pocket, you'll get used to it. It's better for browsing and reading as you have additional screen estate.
There are of course times when you need to do "aerobatic thumbing" but you'll get over it eventually ^_^
Yeah, the G Nex is a bit too wide. Width-wise, I think the Rezound is perfect imo. Too bad it's too thick and runs Sense.

at least its not as wide as the galaxy s ii. That thing is ridiculous.....
I personally think the width of the nexus is perfect. I thought the phone was actually a little too light and nearly flew out of my hand several times. That changed once I got the extended battery.
Sent from my i9250 Prime using XDA App
Not as wide as the SGS2? It's at least as wide, if not wider, side by side.. I had one before this and the Nexus is bigger than SGS2.
As for Nexus, it's very big, but just about acceptable to me lol. Feels better in hand than SGS2 though
I came from a Thunderbolt so it wasn't a huge adjustment for me. I personally thought the size of Thunderbolt was great after being on Nexus One before that. Now with this phone, I feel THIS is now the perfect size
To each his/her own I guess.
To answer your thread title, it's just you
When I got my HD2 I came from a HTC Diamond, a very petite phone. I thought the HD2 was huge but I soon adjusted to it. Then after porting Android to it before flashing to NAND was 'the thing' I got a Desire, love, love, love that phone. I swapped it for a Desire HD when they were released and I realized the bulk of a 4.2" phone was a bit over the top, hated the DHD, sold it and kept the Desire for about 22 months.
I bought the Nexus Prime 3 weeks or so ago, and I am wondering now, if 4.65" is too small!
My Galaxy Nexus is small for me. Because I had been using an iPad as a temporary phone (Not that I make/receive calls anyway)when my HD2 was broken..
When i went from the Sensation to the G.Nexus the Nexus did feel a bit big in my hand as you say. To start with it tired my hand a bit too, you'll get used to it though, if you have big hands that is
The bigness is far less of a problem than the slipperyness!
This phone is very, very slippery. I have almost dropped it SEVERAL times. I am waiting on an Incipio Feather case to prevent this--my Nexus S was also very slippery, but being smaller was easier to hold onto. This phone is large enough that the combination of size and slipperiness makes it very hard to hold onto with one hand.
My hands aren't tiny, but they aren't large either. They're a bit larger than other women I know, but not near the big ol' paws a lot of my guy friends have. They have a lot easier time holding my phone, but they still tell me it's slippery and hard to hold onto.
The Feather doesn't really add much in the way of protection, but it doesn't add hardly any bulk at all and gives a much grippier surface to more easily hold the device.
Edit: This would be an even bigger problem if I didn't use ADW.Launcher EX. With my swipe-down gesture set to open the notification shade, having to contort my hand to reach across the 4.65" display is far less common.
Man i miss swipe down for notifications... I do love the ICS launcher though...so ill stick with it a little while longer.....

Coming from an iPhone 4, it was a tad awkward at first, however I got used to it fairly quickly. Sometimes have to jiggle the phone a little in my hand in order to get my thumb to the power button but I've gotten used to doing that. Feels natural to hold now and my case for the phone has excellent grip on it.
The only time I think to myself that it's too big is when I have to hit the back button at the top-left of an app (which is rarely, fortunately). I have small hands and reaching that spot is a real pain
I'm 14 with normal size hands for my age and I think its the perfect size, kinda wish it was bigger
It's just right.
By the way, there is a Galaxy Nexus Q&A forum for questions like this. To your defense, most of the topics in the general forum are questions even though posters rarely choose to use question marks or ask the question in the title.
Better yet most other phones now seem extremely small. Friend of mine has an iPhone 4s and I realized last night how much smaller the screen really is. I feel spoiled now and and do not feel like I would want to go back to a smaller phone. I use this thing as my Netflix device all the time too simply because of the enormous screen size. Truly a phone of its own kind in the marketplace today. Even better it's already picking up steam with support. I am now running the cmenard ROM with multi-window functionality among all the apps. Buttery smooth and battery life is awesome as expected. Sorry, just expressing my happiness with this phone. I paid full price like most everyone else but I feel it is totally worth it!! :good:
i noticed that too after about a week of having it. when i had a vibrant the sgs 2 and 3 seemed huge compared to it, but after having the note 2 you are completely right that it feels like a normal sized phone and just makes others seem overly small in comparison.
It's funny you say that cause when I first got it I was thinking about taking it back cause I thought it was too big. But now when I hold an S3 or something similar, which I thought was the perfect size now feels so small. Go figure. Next step I'll be holding a Nexus 7 to my ear. Lol.

I've been saying the same thing myself. The Note II feels normal to me now and every other phone seems tiny. I don't think I could go back to a smaller phone at this point honestly.
I do also like that the Note II is still somewhat slim in the width and (to me) shaped like a phone. The Note I looks a bit wider and more like a small tablet to me.
I ended up in a few Apple stores last week during a business trip to DC. In each store, my friend and I asked an Apple Genius to take our picture next to the iPhone 5. Both of the genius' were happy to snap the pics. My buddy and I both held our Note 2s next to the iPhone 5 and smiled... and watched the Genius grumble as he snapped the pic. *snicker*
Just wanna jump on the bandwagon and say that after playing with my Note 2 for a couple of week it now feels natural. The other day I went to open the casket of my GS 4G and I thought that the phone shrank, but it was actually still the same size as it was before. Haha! There is now way I'm going back to anything that is below 5.5.
Hell yea. I'll contribute. All I've ever had are relatively big phones. It started with the Motorola Droid. That was big for it's time. Then the Droid x which everyone knows was one of the first 4.3 inches of android. Then the galaxy nexus which I thought was big as hell opening the box. But now the note 2 is the biggest jump yet. 5.5 inches is a night and day difference to anything out there. I honestly feel like it's perfection. Watching movies, Playing 3d games, Drawing pictures, Browsing the web, and anything else is so much better on this phone. When the note 3 comes out I'm dropping 700 easy on the damn thing

I'm on the bandwagon too, I was initially worried about the size but liked the idea of not having to carry around two devices and a sketchbook. I can agree. Went from my Moto Photon to this and now it seems small. I compared it to my Samsung moment which was my first android device and I can't even use the screen on it anymore because it's so tiny.
Ive had my Note 2 for about a month and a half now. I got it for the screen size. Is it just me or is the phone starting to look smaller like a regular phone? Coming from the S II on t-mobile, I thought this phone was huge on week 1. Now on week 2 it doesn't seem that big until I hold the S II up to it and realize the entire phone fits inside the screen of the note 2.
My tab 2 will not fit in my pocket no matter how big the pants. Well maybe if I dig out some of my 90's raver pants from JNCO it would fit. Coming from an iPhone 4 this phone is simply mind blowing. I'm 6'3'' with very large hands and do everything one-handed. I was looking at my 4 today, it's like a kid's crackerjack box toy. The screen is a joke.

I'm at the point where my Note 2 feels very much the way my SIII used to feel and my Droid DNA just feels like a normal size phone. I also get confused when people say "How can you use that thing??" I'm like "What? It's normal. . . "
Just yesterday I was comparing it to a friends iPhone 4 and the first thing I said when I grabbed the iPhone 4 was "awww it's so cute!!". Later on my friend kept being amazed at the things I could do with my phone. Things like multiwindow, being able to select a part of the screen and copy it, writing with the SPen, writing notes on the back of pictures and a few other things, oddly enough he was much more impressed about the fact that there was a little dot that would follow the stylus around on the screen even though the stylus was not touching the screen.
By the end of the night I ended up selling him my Nexus 7 which I no longer needed because of the Note 2. I already have a Note 10.1 and the Note 2... oh yea and that droid DNA that I hardly use now.
I'm surprised how small every other phone feels after using the GN2 for just a few weeks. Maybe Huawei 6.1in screen will be my next device :cyclops:
http://bgr.com/2012/12/06/huawei-galaxy-note-ii-competitor/
It took a week, tops, for me to feel like all my other "big" phones (HTC One X, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Nexus) were small. The One X feels downright tiny to me, and the S3, which always felt big, now feels like the minimal size I'd be happy with.
I don't feel like the Note II is small, though. It's certainly the ideal size for me right now, 90% of the time, anyways. It does seem a little large in the hand to be using the device while driving, not that I ever do that...
I'm interested to play with a Droid DNA to see how it feels and looks.
How about a 6.3in Galaxy Note 3?

I have been using note since the original note cane out and people start mocking it's size. And I had this issue since the note.. I am just wondering whether anyone else feels the same..
When you are watching a movie, playing a game, browsing the Web, or taking notes. Thank god for the more then palm size phone.
When you are on the train standing trying to balance and text or browse or even temple run, when you are taking a picture with one hand or trying to text or make a call while holding groceries or shopping stuff. God the big screen is so damn retarded and hard to manoeuvre.. Take note my palm is quite huge. To use the phone one handed it rest on my fingers for my thumb to reach the end of the screen where q is on the keyboard. And this is always frustrating as I feel as though the phone would drop if anyone bangs into me which happens alot in singapore..

Regarding one handed use I think the problem is caused by pourly designed interfaces than the size of the phone. Developers imo are still stuck in the world of Windows and insist on putting most command icons at the top of the screen when they should all really be at the bottom. This is especially true now that the average phone is 5" It's even a chore to do a lot of browsing with two hands the way things look today. Compare browsing with many tabs on BoatBrowser, with customizable icons on the bottom, to Chrome where everthing is at the top. Tiring!!
One last rant. If you must use it with one hand. Get a good case. Phones are not cheap, nor is insurance.
If you need to type one handed I can warmly recommend "messagease" keyboard which makes writing with the thumb a breeze.
i get greif at work mostly all the time about its size ...BUT ive never had a bad call and when i watch video i can actually see it even if i want to have subtitles
the irony is i remember getting greif when i bought a t28 by erricsson cos it was so small ...times they are a changing!
as a side note ...when i have to borrow the handed down 4s that i gave the wife when i !upgraded! it seems so damn small and almost impossible to use now
There is two kinds of people..
1, people who have a Note 2
2, people who don't have a Note 2 but want a Note 2
Why do you care what other people think? The Galaxy Note 2 is by far, the best handset on the market for my needs. I don't need a tablet anymore, hell; I have a £1350 computer just collecting dust.
Movies, games, music, drawing, browsing the internet etc is significantly better with a larger screen.

I do not care what others think. I care how I can use my phone more efficiently. By efficient I mean using it without risk of dropping.
I'm outta here. You fan boys who just jumped the bandwagon are too much for me to handle.
Have a nice day

Wtf? Why ask for other people's opinions if you're just going to get angry when they disagree with you? Some people.

Are u serious? Fan boys? People are giving their opinions. And, by the way, ergonomics are great on Note 2. I'm 6'2'' and it fits me perfectly. Of course I owned a Note 1 before.

For my one year of using note 1 I have not seen someone with big enough hands to COMFORTABLY use the phone one handed on the train or even walking. Thus, I call you guys fan boys for claiming size of the phone is just nice.
Of course I live in singapore where the average height is 1. 7metres so there may well really be people who can comfortably use the phone in one hand without risk of dropping. But whenever I use mine one handed it would be quite taxing on the heart as it can easily drop, especially when using cases which are smooth to the touch.
I apologise for coming across as being angered but I assure you I am not.

I always thought it was ridiculously big for a phone but when the Note 1 became on sale and I needed a tablet anyway I thought wth I'll give it a try. Just of a couple of days with it and I can't imagine going back to anything smaller. I use MessagEase for one-handed texting btw. Now I have a Note 2 and it's great although sometimes I'm thinking of switching to an S3. Size has never been an issue for me but sometimes the weight is.
Coming from Dell streak 5, makes me not an early adaptor, I felt that the Note 2 was perfect for my hand, I had to skip the Note 1 bcs I found it not very comfortable in grip and did not look at it was a real upgrade. Note 2 was very different, I remember the first time I hold it and had the wow effect on me. As for the Note 3 I don't know if it will be a real upgrade compare to this device or not, hope they don't go crazy with this screen size wars, but if 3 will have the same size as 2 but with bigger screen and smaller bezel and no physical button I might go for it, as for 8 core, I don't really care much since for what I use the device even 4 core is overkill for me.
Oh I almost forgot, the only thing that might make me switch from Note 2 to 3 is , battery, if they manage to put a 6500 mA for the same thickness they got my money in advance.

After more than 1yr with note1, now after 5th day of use of n2 i must say it is not good for me. I hate the aspect ratio - screen is bad. N2 is fluid like water and i wish i could replace n2s motherboard into original n1 body.
I use tablet layout on n1 so swype notifications from bottom right corner is not a problem while holding one hand....ability to press back button while holding in left hand....
So i really need to find quick tablet ui for n2 and give it a try as first impressions from stock are negative - only to aspect ratio and too much over saturated screen. and feels blurry to me.

I much prefer the note 2 body. Slimmer more manoeuvrable although not by much. Tablet UI how about the famous hybrid rom? Cm10 though.
On note 1 the cm10 was much faster then the stock samsung skinned. However on the note 2 with jellybeans stock skinned.. Cm10 seemed slower to me.
On topic, do you guys who are comfortable with the size use the phone naked?

note1 naked....also looks like that right now...silver finish is worn out.
I have a slim cover for n2 and feels the same as n1 but higher. Without cover it is perfect but i am not sure if i am gonna keep n2. Maybe wait for s4, also xperia z in question only because of ip certification.
Also i feel uncomfortble not having the possibility view s notes from other sources like pc or something. This make spen for notes uselles and have to make notes on catch or evernote.
So spen nice feature but personally stopped using it much. So then s4 is smaller and 0,5 inches diff in screen not much.
