[Q] Huge difference between Samsung ICS & Sony ICS.. - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One of my frnds own Samsung Galaxy S2 & I have Xperia Arc.. Today I checked the ICS from Samsung & ICS from Sony.. The ICS version of Sony sucks big time. It lags and doesnt have proper functionality whereas Samsung ICS is way far better than Sony and is quite stable with great functionality... Why doesnt Sony learn something from Samsung? I have been a huge fan of Sony since the days of SE K750i handset but now I feel really sad the way Sony is releasing the softwares...

I hope that you was drunk or anything when you wrote this..
The ICS Sony / Sony Ericsson* version is superior to the Samsung one, in every way. Just look how good ICS works on Arc S and compare to S2 model and it's like day and night.

Could it be more a Hardware, then software thing?
Galaxy S2 is a dual core at 1.2Ghz, while Arc is single core at 1Ghz
and well that Super AMOLED+ screen...

Whilst it is most certainly true that different manufacturers have their own strengths and weaknesses, the fact that people are unwilling or unable to discuss this like adults means this thread has out-lived it's usefulness.

Should I continue the Sony (Ericsson) streak?

I have been using the Sony (Ericsson) phones since it wasn't running Android. I don't want to loose that streak but I also want to go for the Samsung GSIII or HTC One X. I love how Sony (Ericsson) designed their phones but I also want a good phone for gaming purposes. Games like Modern Combat 3 doesn't run smooth on my Xperia Arc S but it does on my mother's Samsung GSII. Please help. I'll be upgrading my phone in December.
Extra: My post is not the same as the one under mine.

It's up to YOU!
I'll be breaking it.. I'm an SE user since K700 days.. Now, they are not just up-to-date with the latest hardware. Anyways, a dual core phone with 480p display will run games smooth! Or if you're really want a gaming device, I'll suggest S 3..

Hmmm.. I'll think about it. I still accept suggestions.
if your a gamer and you want smooth gaming, i suggest you overclock your phone

Yes I thought of that. Problem is not all kernel provides overclocking while having a Battery Friendly tweak in it. I also, like most users, wants a good battery life. Plus, why are we talking about this? I thought it was about the next phone I am going to choose?
If you REALLY want gaming, get a 3DS/PSVita and a Sony Smartphone. But I assume that by December Sony will release a quad-core phone.

Yea. My parents won't buy me any gaming console. Not even a gameboy lol. If sony does release a quad-core phone, i'll buy it.

[Q] Xperia S (ICS) - poor audio quality compared to Omnia W

Hi folks,
I just got a new Xperia S, having already a Omnia W. I wanted to get a good music phone and considering gsmarena showing a better rating for Xperia S than Omnia W, I got this one. I am using Phone's speaker, not headphone for playing few songs. However my Xperia S does not sound great and cannot be compared to OMNIA W at all. I played the songs simultaneously and certainly Xperia S is no match. The Xperia S seems a little jarring and as a result the vocals aren't as crisp and clear as Omnia W. It isn't too bad, just that I find it hard after having a omnia w. I have turned on XLoud on and off, no difference.
My Question: Anyone else observed audio issues with Xperia S? I have already seen few folks complaining about ICS, but it does looks like an inherent issue rather than a software. Or is gsmarena wrong to give a high rating for Xperia S? Any thoughts?
If you remove the backplate, the audio will get MUCH better. It is awful, though... low-end phones like the Galaxy Ace have better speaker sound than the XS.
they use proper tests
ur better of trusting them than youre own hearing
i say get a doc involved
The Xperia X10 Mini and X8 had awesome speakers and I think thats what your looking for
But...you are referring to music and when they do those tests they are not done through the Phones speakers but through headphones
Thats where the confusion is, slap in some decent earphones and you'll see the difference compared to your Omnia W

Theres no difference in what sound the test the loudspeakers with. the fact is theyre still testing it
wither it be music or a ringtone on a loop

The stock codecs are also a factor. Try Nuetron MP. The UI takes a bit of getting used to but I always end up going back to it for external playback qualities. Nuetron relies on its own software instead of the stock Android build. It makes a difference to not only my seasoned ears but to the average listener as well.

What to keep Xperia S or Xperia P

I haver both Phones here and i can´t decide by my selfe whitch one to keep. I need a good Phone for Messeging, Sozial Networking and Camera.
I cant lose the feeling that the Xperia P makes mutch better pictures, and the Display for its 4" looks amazing eaven with smaller ppi.
But i dont wanna to change the phone in the next months.
Hope you can help me a bit out.
well xperia s is flagship so its better, its faster and better camera and more storage?

Faster yes, more storage yes but the camera is in my eyes definitly worse, eaven it has more MP. And the Display of the P looks also better than the S one.
I have used SXS and SXP.. There are a lot of differences.. It depends on the user though..
SXS:
Fast CPU, GPU.
Large storage space.
Cam 12MP.
Display is way better than P
SXP:
Ext SD supported.
And rest all very good as per the price tag..
But as far as i have seen, SXS cam cannot be compared to SXP... Even though SXP gives good results wit 8mp, SXS beats it with a huge margin.. I have seen it myself.. Same person taking same photo, same settings, but MP is different.. SXS is really good..
AW: What to keep Xperia S or Xperia P
I have both if you like I can post an comparison of the same picture.
And the xp has no ext_sd

definitely xperia S
It definetely useless to post this thread. Why?
Because you post in Xperia S forum and of course Xperia S user will choose S. If you post it in Xperia P forum, then people will say P. I myself own P, so I will choose P.
So ask your self which phone to keep coz you are using your phone.
Feel free to hit

In my opinion, the reason I choose XS over XP is solely because XS has a 1.3mp front camera compared to vga on XP. So if u like to take self portrait, then XS, else I think XP is more sexy or with the metallic back

Xperia ZL vs [new] Nexus 7

Just picked up a new Nexus 7 this morning to replace my old N7 and loving it so far, a huge [huge] improvement in performance. Loving the addition of a notification light, wireless charging (plz take note Sony) and a better screen resolution.
Decided to run some benchmarks against my Xperia ZL since they both share the same CPU, GPU and general specs and was surprised to see such a huge discrepancy in the results with Quadrant, but almost identical results with AnTuTu.
The Xperia ZL is running on JB 4.1.2, while the N7 is running JB 4.3. Something tells me the ZL would pull even higher numbers if it was on JB 4.2 and JB 4.3 still.

umm ...zl runs on 4.2 atm
maybe better with 4.3 :good:
one is a tablet n other a phone .. :\
Is it me, or is this like comparing 2 completely different entities for no obvious reason...?
Irrelevant.
The new Nexus 7 doesn't have the same Snapdragon as ZL. It uses a clocked down S600, it is build of Krait 300 not 200. Also memory is different, it's DDR300.

[MOD] Hardware of Xperia ZL

some people may think this is impossible and some maybe think it"s possible .
I only want to ask some suggestion from the community about this..
i owned a Sony Ericsson W580i and i'm thinking to transplant it's speaker to Xperia ZL (before this, i already succeed to transplant this speaker on my Allwinner A13 tab and now i want to take the speaker back and place it on Xperia ZL). The speaker better than stock Xperia ZL speaker i think so.
what did you think?
was it a good, great or a bad idea?

great idea if it succeeds! lol
while you're at it, do try a GPS antenna hack (just in case you can improve the already great GPS)
