Are Touch Wiz based tablet Roms possible. I noticed that touch wiz Rom get superior battery life and have better Rom tweaks but, I love the Tablet interface. I just wish I could have the best of both worlds. Click thank you if you think this is a great idea.

I really love the tablet interface but currently the AOKP tablet Roms are battery hogs. If you are luckly you might get 8 to 10 of battery life but with the touch wiz Roms you will get 24 to 30 hours almost 3 times the battery life. What is the reason for the difference in battery life?

Maybe because we don't have source yet? I also thought AOSP roms are battery hogs when I was running cm7 on the fascinate and Touchwiz was unbearably slow on that phone until jt1134 and team hacksung started to building ICS from source then AOKP came then battery rivaled Touchwiz but with speed. It change how I saw AOSP ROMs. I'm just patiently waiting for that to happen on this phone and I have a feeling it will, with our amazing devs now, I just hope none of them jump ship to another phone before it happens

I am currently running wanam's 1.1 version of his stock-based ROM. Been running it for 2 days and has felt much smoother and battery friendly than stock! ATT and Samsung apps are flashable later through CWM which like. LOVE this ROM. Only known issue that I have seen is the 1080p recording for the camera. It does record in 720p though. Thanks!

Same here wanam 1.0 although 1080 recording anything beside normal won't work
The only reason I ever want to flash my phone is to get aosp. So I say cm10 and aokp are the best. Don't really see a point in flashing stock based roms.

I ran CM !0 for a few days but I used a Mac and MTP doesn't work so its a bit of a deal breaker for me, but in all fairness its Extremely stable to be an Alpha build. My first android phone was the G1 and then on to the Nexus One so i'm a sucker for AOSP based android roms and for Cyanogen Mod in general so ill be running it when the MTP gets sorted out on my Mac.
I tried Wanams rom, I remember him from my SGS2, Hes a great Dev & its really stable as well.
The best all around so far for me is AndroidUser00110001's Rom linked below. I've found the wifi disconnect problem that i was having with the other TW Roms is gone and it has had the best over all balance of performance and stability.

When it comes to battery life there literally is none better, he did a fantastic job with his ROM. It takes a performance hit at times but its to be expected.
Overall, AOKP has everything I want, sans killer battery life

I have looked at it, and the one I have installed on my phone even has the Aurora designation I intend to use if I publicly release a rom for this phone, so we will see.
Also, son of a *****, godaddy didn't auto-renew my domain. Guess I will need a new one.
A buddy of mine just got the S3 and isn't into the touchwiz and nature theme. He just got the phone yesterday so I've been looking for the best custom rom with everything working. Any suggestions? I know it's early in the game and I might be asking too much. I've been searching and haven't been able to find much. Thank you for any suggestions.

I used Aura on my Atrix for the longest time. I like the stability of kyan's ROM. I just know the layout and I like the dandelion/water unlock screen LOL. I liked CM10 and had no issues. I plan on trying AOKP tonight. I like the drop down 15 toggles mainly because they are quick to get to and turn on and off like torch and brightness modes.

Definitely AOKP. Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean versions are awesome. I've yet to find any bugs that keep it from being a daily driver. In fact I've found none. But I haven't used it that in depth much, we shall see.
But I put my vote in for AOKP. By far the best, and I only flash for AOSP based ROMs anyways. :good:

I'm using and loving Wanam, but due to the poll, I really want to check out the AOKP.
My sister is annoyed with the battery life of her GS3 despite how good it as been next to her old iPhone and she wants to squeeze more juice out of it. She's not as tech-savvy as most people on this forum so I'm looking for something that is as stable as it gets.
Thanks in advance.

I've had both of these problems as well. So small that they hardly go noticed. I've minimized the black wake screen with the voltage control settings below.
Task650 AOKP 4.1.2 JB. 11/18 Build
Underwear kernel (Intellidemand/Deadline)
I wanted to solve the same problem for my wife. I installed wanam Rom. It still looks and feels the same but it more than doubled her battery life over stock Rom. She hasn't complained since.
Ps. I wouldn't recommend putting her on cm10, AOKP, or any Aosp Rom for two reasons, she will most likely miss touchwiz features she is used to, and she will probably run into more problems with some stuff not working.

Task's AOKP ROM is the ****
Really liking Liquid Smooth. Great battery life very customizable. Second choice would be Serenity.
Task's AOKP ROM for me. Though I did have battery life problem as my phone was awake all the time. I wiped it clean and had only a few widgets, and add juicedefender app and my battery life was much much better. Maybe it's not the ROM but what your sister has on her phone?
I've got a SGS 3 now and let my wife have the SGS 2. The first day I had it I got 4 hrs and 7 minutes of screen on time on the stock ROM. That was texting, checking email and surfing the web. I don't have a lot of apps installed such as facebook etc... and I don't keep it synced to google servers. I rooted it but am sticking with stock for now. Seems to be doing well.
I had Baked android 4.2 ROM and I was getting fairly decent battery life. I went to try out kobridges GA10 ROM and it seems like I am getting less battery. Most people use touchwiz for the battery. Is the battery better on aosp because its 4.2?

Same here. The battery life has been better on AOSP since 4.2 (still not better than TW though )
Seems to me that 4.2 gets better screen on time and TW gets way better sleep time.

I don't have a problem playing any game on any ROM. If you ever have lag issues, then changing governor to on demand should help.

I'd say go with some AOSP rom, they're a lot less resource intensive than Touchwiz roms, so there will be a lot fewer processes running in the background at the same time as your game
However we do not have any roms built specifically for gaming
i have never used aosp roms on this device befor. they we buggy buggy with the s2... but anyways are the realy faster roms? good fof fast graphics and showing off benchmark scores??

Although I can agree with this, it isn't that big of a difference on SOME aosp ROMs. Cm10 doesn't drain battery as badly as cm10.1 or any 4.2 based ROM.
Cm10 has treated me well so far.
I will say though, touchwiz does last a little bit longer, but sometimes by a hair.

You forgot to idiot proof that post.
Touchwiz roms typically do much better on battery if set up right. Flash md4 stock and cm10.1 stock they're pretty comparable in battery life.
And I don't mean to turn this into a big debate, but the anthrax aosp rom I ran for a while did far better on battery then I've ever gotten with touchwiz. I was getting 24hrs with 5+ hrs screen time no problem.
It reminded me of my set up on my og evo with decks aosp and savaged Zen oh hey look twenty hours in with twenty percent left.
