I've tried apps to move them batch but none are very successful. The only way I've found is to go to Settings - Applications - and click on the app you want to move and move.
No. What i sayin is they r goin on the usb storage and not the sdcard.. is that how is supposed to be??

I was trying to download an application from the market and it said that the app couldn't install on USB storage or sd card. I checked with ES file explorer and found the folder usbStorage is read only. How can I make it writable?

Via my phone as my computer is down right now

Are you rooted? I know in root explorer you can change to r/w easily, it's right on top of every screen within the app

I am rooted, I'll give root explorer a try thanks

It says that it's r/w but I'm still having the problem.

Your sd will be mounted under Emmc and that is a problem with aosp right now ....maybe remove your Sd and try to install to internal but several games won't work on aosp .....like NBA jam won't install on aosp or tw for me ....but will on GB
On tw it's sdcard/external_SD

What is Emmc and tw. I'm on venum ice not aosp if that matters. I also have the external_sd which is where everything on my sd card is. I think the usbStorage is a leftover from another rom

Unmount or remove your external sd card and try to install the app again. Might need to clear the stores data also.
Thank you epix4g and bigtoysrock. Taking out the sd card worked

I upgrade from the SGS4g to the SGS2 tmo and I'm kinda confused about the storage directories. I'm seeing emsc, ex-sd and internal memory. I did a nandroid, call log, and sms bakups before flashing and now I can't find any of them. Thanx in advance for your time and effort.

What did u use for back up? Cmw rom manager or what? Saved files should be in there. As if u did a nandro you have saved it to ur PC/lappie. That way u can pull it from there

And forgot to mention as long as you don't format your external SD card you won't loose any of the data saved on it. I d/l any zips into my external that way my internal is not all bloated with a lot of stuff and slows down my phone.

I am trying to move apps which can be moved to the SD card but I keep on getting message unable to move the app .
It seems like android only moves app to the internal storage not external storage . Any way to fix this issue ???

Can we get a screenshot of the error message at least?
What rom. This doesn't work on TW ICS with a stock kernel. Known issue.

See attached I am trying to move the apps to the external SD card not internal storage .
Isn't this a android limitation ?? ROM is cna jb

Have you tried using Gemini app manager?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Yes , I tried using that app but it moves it to internal storage but not to SD card which shows up as external storage .

It may be an issue with the rom itself. An early version of the rom I'm using did that, but was fixed in an update and using Gemini, I can pretty much move anything to the SD card

I am using CNA , wonder why it won't allow moving apps to the external sd card ..
I should have more storage space than I do. Is my sd card being doubled with the sdcard0 thing that happens when flashing ROMs?

I don't think so. you should always wipe the whole system before flashing a new Rom. Also if you have a lot of nandroids stored, that takes away a lot of space. I recommend do a full wipe, format system and then flash your new Rom just to make sure all of the old Rom its gone:good:
Gotcha. Forgot about the nandroid I'd made. That would explain the space issue. Thanks for the response.
Install "disk usage" from the market. It will analyze your storage usage and show you what is using your storage.

Here's a screenshot of what disk usage found. Seems to me like my media was doubled, but I could be wrong. Any idea?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
It's not doubled, you just have +4GB in your music folder and +2GB worth of CWM backups.

So i just switched from JediXX to pacman 4.2. And now my internal storage is damn near full. I deleted mostly everything and this is still all i have....
Any ideas how to fix this?

No problem sir. It might be because when you back up in recovery the backup goes to internal sdcard. If you have external sdcard move it there.
