[HELP] Defy MIUI 2.4.13 performance issiues - Defy General

Hi
I have a weird problem with my Defy running MIUI 2.4.13, everything that's hwa related (games, videos, internet browser) is laggy (frame skipping, jittery)
I've tried overclocking to 1.2GHz and installing Chainfire3D drivers and plugins - still nothing changes.
Is there a way to fix this - or is it just how this rom works ?
Thanks for any help.

That ROM run perfectly except GPS. Even on HTC desire GPS is not doing like on stock. Weird. But everything else must run even better then on stock. You did something wrong.
No need to overclock, something is going on that it should not.

Well.. what cloud I do wrong ?
I rooted the phone,
installed cwm,
cleared data, cache, davlink
installed miui zip from sd
Maybe the main thing is that I did not flash ?
I mean should I ?
I got my phone out of the box, right after closing the android welcome tips screen, I've rooted it and installed 2init.
On my previous defy I remember flashing an sbf before installing any roms... - could this be the case ?

No ,you don't have to flash an SBF unless you bricked your defy
I had your problem with GPS and i remember searching in market for gps state or fix
You have 2 solution you should try :
Recomended 1- Flash the newest rom from WajkIUI or Pikachu and i assure to you that you will enjoy your Defy like never before :
A- Pikachu : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498843
B- WajakIUI : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161110
2- You will find a GPS.config for most countries in Defy General forum but i don't remember where
I hope i helped even a little

thanks after flashing wiui - all my problems are gone

glad to see it solved

[Q] After UK 3.4.2-117 froyo phone is identified as nexus one

Hi
After installing the new ROM UK 3.4.2-117 froyo my phone is identified as a nexus one by the browser and when installing apps. Have installed the market uppdate and thought that this will mean the phone is signed so to say as a MB525 defy but maybe I understood that wrong?
Regards
thats odd mate running the same rom as you and mine still thinks it's a defy did you do a wipe after you flashed the rom?
Facebook app says mines a Glacier
Yes I have wiped before and after and now reinstalled the sbf once more... Hovewer maybe I am overeading this fact/issue as I with my second defy which has original ROM now I see sometimes neither is identified as a DEFY so I must assume that this is not really any issue...
The ROM otherwise works very good but just gives me some problems with some apps that earlier worked and now seems to quit/crash, but the main phone functions seems to work flawlessly otherwise so many thanks!
does about phone in the settings identify it as a mb525?
? Not sure if I understod you right but yes it say it is a defy in the about settings. My mainly concern is with Spotify (european version of pandora) that does seem to crash when trying to comunicate with the sd card.

[Q] Random freezes and lag

I have some issues with my Defy, it worked great for about 5 weeks with Quarx's CM7 the i started to get random lags, all apps crashing and freezes. I wiped the cache and dalvik cache, still not working.
After that i installed MIUI, worked pretty good for 2 days then got the same problem. Wiping the cache didn't worked here either so i decided to re-install CM7 (7.1.0-jordan) but still got the same problem.
I tried lowering the CPU settings to the default but it had no effect.
What else can i do?
I'm kinda new to this so please, have mercy.
Thanks in advance!
Could it be the RAM (not enough available)? Use an app like this or similar and see if there's any difference.
Also, if you like CM7, go for CM7.2 - it already has a RC version, and it's stable and fast (bug fixes included, tweaks, interface optimizations, etc). Regarding the CPU: it's not necessary to underclock to the stock 800mhz value, just be careful about the voltages (don't go too low suddenly, or you'll get freezes or random soft restarts - try to undervolt progressively).
Plus, it's a good habit to wipe Cache and Dalvik cache before and after flashing a ROM/nightly.
it's not the ram, i used netqin from the beginning which has a widget that shows available memory and a task manager and the lowest memory i ever had was 100MB. currently on cm7.1 i have 213mb available.
is there a way to completely revert all changes, like a factory reset?
Actually, task managers on Android don't fix any problems, they even cause problems - I would get rid of that if I were you.
Like a factory reset? Wiping data from custom recovery (but you'll lose all data, settings, apps, etc on the phone), but you keep your current ROM.
Give CM7.2 a shot, it might be better.
Edit: Did you have these problems before installing that task manager?
i really don't care about the current ROM, i would go for the stock android just to have a working defy. do i need to flash a sbf before installing 7.2?
could it be a hardware problem?
Don't flash a SBF!
If you are already on CM7 just flash a CM7.2 version like a nightly (wipe Cache and Dalvik cache, before and after flashing). When I used CM7.2, I was happy with a version by maniac103, from 27 February. Stable, fast, good battery life.
If you really don't care about all of your settings and apps and data and so on, you could try to wipe Data in custom recovery before installing CM7.2, it might solve that issue (but I'm not sure, and it's not really worth it to try it now, only as a last solution). But if you do that, remember to flash gapps too, after the ROM.
But first try CM7.2 and use your phone for a while without that task manager.
No, I don't think that it's a hardware problem, especially if it worked fine after you flashed MIUI.
just installed cm7.2, will update if problem still occurs.
Thanks!
You're welcome.
Great, I hope you'll get rid of those issues. Did you also remove that task manager?
Yes, kept just the basic stuff for now. i have a problem with the proximity sensor, after a call the screen stays off and i have to remove the battery. I tried loosing the back screw and several ways of disabling the sensor but none worked.
Any ideas?

[Q] Xperia S freezes randomly

Hi everyone.
I'm having a little problem with my Xperia S, it's kind of new (2 weeks of use).
When I'm using normally the cellphone, everything works great, but if don't use it for a long time and I grab it faster and unlocked it, sometimes the cellphone freezes! Well, not exactly freezing, it still works but VERY slowly, almost like freezing. I can't turn it off with power button, I had to user Power + Volume button to turn it off/restart it.
That happened in first week, so I unlocked bootloader and flash it another kernel (advanced stock kernel), and the problem was there.
Later I made a backup of the firmware (I updated to its last version with PC Companion, ICS btw) and flashed a custom ROM (XTXperience 4), and the problem was still there.
Yesterday I flashed a Generic ICS ROM downloaded from XDA Server using Flashtool, everything went normal until today, when the problem happened again.
I've been searching here in XDA and Google and still nothing seems clear of what is causing the problem, if it's the sim card or maybe a hardware problem. I'm going to relock the bootloader today, and I will try to repair the phone using SUS.
What is causing the cellphone to freeze? Hope someone help me with this. Thanks in advance!
btw, sorry about my english, hope you understand most of what I wrote
Well in my experience,
The phone freezes because it is too hot,
Or the RAM memory suddenly drops.
I mean sudden ur phone's RAM memory is 0.
I'm not sure too.
But I think reflashing the kernel, or flash other kernel will fix the problem
Try it
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
What ics firmware did you flash? And did you do a complete wipe when flashing?
Sent from my Jellybean Xperia S
I've flashed other kernel and yes, I do a complete wipe when I flash another ROM, via Flashtool or CWM.
I've been thinking of rolling back to GB to see what happens.
Yesterday my phone freezes like 2 or 3 times in less than 15 minutes. First time I reboot the phone and it was ok like 5 minutes, then it freezes. I reboot again the phone and happened again.
Its not even hot or using a lot of RAM, it always has like 250 or 200mb free
Did u play with CPU settings?

No, this is happening since the first boot of the phone. When I turned it on the first time it happened, and I had to search how to force a reboot because I didn't know how to do it LOL
It doesn't happen very often, but when it does is very frustrating!
Try flashing a new rom, but wipe the system partition too? I always do that to ensure a fully clean install.

I'm thinking in flashing a non based stock rom, like CM or MIUI, because I flashed XTXperience before and the freezing happened.
Oh, and the problem still exists. I believe Wi-Fi connection maybe it's the problem, I'm testing some things right now.
Had this too using Supercharger (by zep) but after few setting it's gone. Maybe you should try to run the script ?
It was with stock rom and advanced kernel v15/16.L
Well, I was on 6.1.A.2.45, I relocked the bootloader and an update changed the firmware to 6.1.A.2.55 using SUS without wiping data and the problem was still there, so I repaired the phone with SUS, it erased everything and the problem was gone for like 2 days. Today it happened again.

Well, I Supercharged my ROM now, which setting do you use to fix the problem? I'm still having it.
I even flashed a CM10 based ROM and its still happening! I think it's a hardware problem

[Q] Defy MB525 bug report MIG v2.02

Hi,
I've just installed the custom rom Moto Ice Gun v 2.02, i've founded an odd issue: in system's info the device is tagged as Motorola defy+ MB526 instead of MB525 (the real model type) and the system is using a wrong amount of RAM, 475 MB instead of 512.
Did Anyone get those same issues? Is it possible to resolve them?
I've know other issues on this ROM:
when go to system information >> find for update the preferences app crashes
Using Google Car-Home the app crashes when tapping on close button. This problem has been bybassed by using another laucher (tested on Nova and ADW) so it seems to be a std launcher problem.
Probably linked to the flashing of this ROM:
If i try to flash the stable CM 7.2 as nandroid (also installation from a zip file gets to the same result ) from recovery the phone seems to freeze at the Google Logo.
I've noticed that MIG rom has installed recovery 5.7.0 jellybean for jordan instead of previous version made for gingerbread (installed by CM 7.2) After this update the newest version works perfectly but the oldest, when re-installed, is unable to flash correctly any nandorid and it doesn't mount /cache, /data and several other folders. In this case if I flash from zip file the MIG the installation completes and after wiping data and caches from the new CWM (5.7.0) installed the phone is able to boot and run normally.
08/12/12
Wifi theter is not running, it last on the activation and it isn't able to start a wifi connection.
Does anyone has the same issues?
PS: I know that it would be better post this informations on the MIG thread but i can't...not enough posts!
Edoardo
Thank to [email protected] for all of his work

I also wiped cache and data and flash again.

Hi,
I installed JellyTime 4.2.2 R8 a few days ago and never tried to play a video file on it before seeing your message.
I just put an .mp4 (720p) on my DHD and opened it with the integrated Google video player. Everything seems to be fine for me on that point. I can go forward and backward without any lag.
I tested also 3gp files, recorded with the camera and it works fine as well.
If you do it another way, could you give more details about how you proceed? I'm interested in checking if it works. And it can be handy for people to help you find a solution.
By the way, do you have any issue with GPS on JellyTime R8? In any case, could you indicate which radio version you have and if your DHD is S-ON or S-OFF?
GPS is not working on mine (no notification-bar icon, no fix), my phone is S-ON and radio version is 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M.

Hi, I have your same configuration and same problem. I solved by installing an ICS ROM, but i'll be happy to go back to JB if there were a way to fix it...

Apparently, flashing the radio ROM can fix it. But need to be S-OFF and it is more risky than just flashing the OS.
The ICS ROM you talk about has Sense, right?

yes it does...i read about flashing a new radio too..but yes basically it must be s-off.
I'm still researching. I'll tell you if i have any news.
Ok I solved doing this:
- Install this ROM (full wipe first) from herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382235&highlight=zip full stock version.
- Then check that the gps works with gps status
- Go in recovery, do a wipe data/ factory reset
- INstall the JB R9 + gapps
Hope you can fix.

It really works? Amazing !
I saw a few posts talking about that procedure, but it looks so weird that I couldn't believe it! xD
I will try this week-end and let you know.
EDIT: And by the way, you still have the same radio ROM? It just flashes JB to Sense, activate the GPS from Sense and flash JB back?

Amazing !!
It fixed my GPS issue as well! But how it solved it is still a mystery.
I did it almost the same way as you did. I explain it behind in case it can be usefull for somebody else experiencing GPS issues:
Reminder: being S-ON, do not forget to flash boot.img from the ROM image using fastboot.exe !
- back up of JellyTime R8
- from Recovery:
-------->full wipe (data/factory resest + cache + dalvik)
-------->restore back up of my previous Sense ROM (the one that has been installed after using HTCDev-like tools to root/unlock/S-ON the phone)
- reboot on the Sense Rom and activate GPS and check status using GPS Status & Toolbox (can take several minutes before getting a fix signal)
- reboot in recovery:
-------->full wipe again
-------->restore backup of JellyTime R8
- reboot and finally activate GPS using the icon bar or going in parameters (the GPS icon should start blinking) and check the fix using again GPS Status & Toolbox (or whatever).
Thank you again Icifide !
Everything is working absolutely awesum....
Its fast but its draining the battery at a very high rate......is there a anyone who can solve this problem
