Bluetooth headset with Caller ID (Stereo) - HTC One X

I'm an avid mountain biker and I would like to find a good stereo bluetooth headset with caller id which is compatible with the One X. When I'm biking the phone is stored in a zipped pocket and I would like to see who is calling without taking the phone out. Any recommendations?

Your only option I can think of are the Sony Ericsson products, get them quick though as I suspect they are no longer in production, given the changes going on at that company.

Found the perfect one!
Sony, (without Ericsson) are about to release an amazing stereo bt headset with an OLED display which even allows you to read messages and email. Supposed to be released on the 30th. I'm pre-ordering now
Check it out:
http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/st...gId=-1&productId=8198552921666448402#features

I use Jabra Sport with my HOX! If sweat, dirt and dust is your concern go with Jabra Sport no callerid though and your phone has to be close to the earpiece...

@ozaghloul, Brilliant find thx mate. If those will be working as fine as the old MW600 this is going to be my next buy. although I would like to see some review first:S Perhaps if you get yours soon ?
[EDIT]
The UK Clove has committed short video of the pre-mentioned smart headset pro from Sony showing the full package contents and demonstrating its functionality and It can be found HERE
Mine has been delivered today morning and after the whole day of my playing with it, its been working flawlessly with my HOX and DHD (both phones running mike's roms) so Its a keeper for me and worthy replacement of the good old MW600

It's not the functionality of the phone that determines the called id part? I have the Plantronics Backbeat 903 stereo bluetooth headset (which is awesome, by the way, although I don't have any experience with other stereo bluetooth headsets to compare it with), but I've never tried to get it to read caller id.
If you can't get the caller id functionality you are looking for with the headset, what about adding a "smart watch"? Not ideal, but certainly better than stopping and taking your phone out of your pocket.

try the nokia bh-221 it has a oled display and also has nfc support.....so we can easily pair it with our phone by tapping it on the back..
here is the link
http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/accessories/headsets/stereo-bluetooth-headsets/nokia-bluetooth-stereo-headset-bh-221

Try Tasker,
You will be able to easily set up a profile that will read a caller ID and set it so that it's only active when connected to bluetooth or a headset!

I'm confused. There are several.

It's how I found this post, too. (I have a note, and it's too big for pulling out just to see who's calling,. I'm using a 5-year-old Jabra BT810, it vibrates on an incoming call, too, which is nasty if you have it in your ear, but I wanted to see what was new. I'm surprised there's nothing stellarly better, but there's enough. No, I'm not selling it.)
This one looks OK, but it looks pretty dim in the YouTube video I looked at.

This one look like you can use a decent wired pair of earbuds with it, but I don't see a clip or any way to attach it to yourself.
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/bluedio-w699-bluetooth-2-0-stereo-caller-id-headset-handsfree-3-hour-talk-time-50-hour-standby-34311 I've had pretty good luck with DealExtreme. It's one of those joints that'll sell anything, and you get what you pay for.

I've got the old MW600 and the only thing i really disliked about it was, the inability to listen while charging. does this new smart sony do the same thing?

Actually there is something weird about it, with old MW600 once connect to laptop or wall charger its stops everything and start charging only.
The new headset continues to play but it doesn't show the battery charging animation. i will try full discharge tonight and test again.
Its not a biggie for me as it never has been a problem for me with the old MW600 though and the headset with the app from playstore does everything it says it might do

Its called Liveware manager, through that you can set-up the supported devices, and applications (there is few more extras in the play store, but I'm using only gmail, missed calls and calendar)
Sony provides their own app to manage all their "smart" accessories. I think its mostly to assure that all functions remain available to you, regardless phone and rom you might be using. (it turns on and off automagically every time you trigger your Bluetooth)
Hope that help and address your question correctly

bluetooth stereo earphones??? Do they exist?

Hi,
I really hate having to detangle my earphones everytime I want to listen to something on my Exec.
I was hoping anyone of you would know whether there are any bluetooth stereo earphones/earbuds (not headphones) that will work with the Exec for music?
I dont want the type where I have to plug in some sort of transmitter... I was hoping to use the built in bluetooth.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Not sure if any exists becuase:
1. Where to put the transmitter?
2. Where to put the battery (if earbuds without wires, both should have batteries built in. this might be a problem)
Yes, bluetooth stereo headphones exist (the Motorola HT820, for instance). No they don't (currently) work with the JasJar.
We need to wait for a ROM upgrade which adds A2DP functionality. This is something that MicroSoft have nade available to the OEM's (i-mate, Q-Tek, O2, etc) but they're dragging their heels when it comes to actually releasing the upgraded ROMs.
Indeed, if i-mate support are to be believed, their imminent ROM upgrade will not include A2DP functionality, which probably means waiting another three months for the next round of ROMs....
Of course, I'm not at all annoyed that I have a useless pair of Bluetooth headphones.....especially considering the fact that other i-mate phones have A2DP already.......
HOT FROM THE PRESS!!!
Just read the press article from Sony Ericsson
And another one...
I have a set from HP that work OK with my ipaq and hacked blueangel rom. You need A2DP support on your device to be able to use them.
I got mine in New York from Compusa last May, Expansys sell them in the UK for about £60, as well as other models.

Actually Guys,
Back to the topic, the guy who started this post is looking for stereo bluetooth EARPHONES. not headphones like the HT820.
And also WITHOUT wires.... so he doesn't have to "detangle" them everytime.
Tall order. Anyone know of a WIRELESS EARPHONE/EARBUD STEREO bluetooth headst? I think that's what he was looking for.
well said!

ong with taiwanese 'tribute' versions ( it's not a copy, it's a tribute to the original....) - you get a dangly reciever bit to wear around your neck and earbuds into your ears.

The second point was NO WIRES so no "detangling" . Sony Erricson are also releasing a similar bluetooth thing, but both of them HAVE wires.
Close, 1 for 2.
Any 2 for 2 devices?
Smallest ones i know of are the iPhone Mini

I had the same problem - My Sony EX71 earbuds were fantastic quality, but detangling was a pain in the ass. While I'd prefer earbuds too, and looked at those above first, I went for a pair of HT820's and don't regret it for a second. They're not earbuds of course, but are pretty goddamn stylish to use and the quality is lovely. They also use AVRCP for remote contol and have a mic so I can replace my bluetooth headset too.
EDIT: OK, so I'm a little like Princess Liea, but I'm secure enough in my sexuality to not care.
Hi,
I just bought this one: http://www.pdashop.nl/product/23366. Works fine with my MDA Pro. I use it in combination with PocketMusic Bundle. You can also skip tracks, pause/play music. The only thing is that it won't show the track title/artist. In the manual it says it reads the id tags, but not in my case. (Maybe it's an issue of PocketMusic).
It's also nice that it comes with a cord to hang it around your neck.

I just returned mine. I can't seem to get it working without any problems. The quality of the sound just doesn't compare the sound of the standard headset.

Is it possible to use a headset and phone's mic for talking on phone?

Hi,
I used to use a Nokia 5310. With it, I could take a call by pressing any button, listenlng via headset and talking to phone's mic, while I was listening to music. Once I hang up the call, the music resumes. All this was done with 5310 phone and a normal 3.5mm headset (without any mic in its line).
Now with SSGS, when I was listening to music via a headset and taking a call with the headset plugged in, voice on the line wouldn't come through the headset. Instead, I had to remove the earpiece and talk to the phone as if the headset wasn't there.
It seems good prople here are able to play with alsa, and I think audio redirecting might be possible.
Could someone point me to the right direction?

I was just thinking about this the other day. I was in town listening to music and a call came through. It would be nice not having to faff around taking out the earphones to answer a call.

In this case galaxy isnt a "smart"phone its from stoneage, have never hade a phone that behave like this..Is it a huge bug in Android?? or maybe the engineers in samsung need a brain transplant.
I'd like to be able to use the cassette adapter in my car for music and hands free

I too would like to see a fix for this problem.
In the meantime I use my old Nokia hands free adapter with an inline mic and a 3.5mm headphone jack inside the car / when using my own headphones

I'm sharing the same dilemma. dunno if there is a software fix for this. I've read a few threads mentioning that Samsung had the mic rigged differently to enable video output thru the 3.5mm jack.
Same problem here. Looking for a solution.

Haven't got this phone yet but are you saying when the wired headset is plugged into the Galaxy S phone you cannot take a call through the headset?
I currently use a Nokia with a headset same as PhoenixFx pic, I listen to music > call comes in > hit inline remote and take call > finish call by hitting inline remote > goes back to music.....
Don't tell me this cant be done????

This is true, and I cannot begin to tell you how pissed I was to discover my Skullcandy headset neither works as headphones or as a headset. IIRC one of the speaker pins and the mic pin are the other way round on the SGS so its not compatible with normal 3-pole 3.5 jacks.
Instead of getting new headphones, I'm going to run with a Jabra BT stereo thing that lets you plug your own headset in. I love my earbuds, and I'm damned if samsung is going to stop me using them, particularly when they don't even have a non-stock set of headphones on sale themselves.
I doubt that this is the cause of the headphones/phonecall thing tho. I guess they just didn't even think of it when they were coding. I don't see why this is impossible, and especially with stuff like Cyanogen just over the horizon, could see it soon.

You can use one of the Nokia hands free adapters like I do (if you want a cheaper solution then get a 3rd party Nokia compatible one from eBay), however you won't be able to plugin your own mic, but at least the in line mic and your own headphones will work. Built in mic of the Nokia HS-45 is pretty sensitive and can be used even from a distance (especially handy inside a car)
I have no idea why Samsung didn't give the option of using the built in mic of the phone with a headset, or at least provide their bundled headset with a detachable earphone cable like Nokia does.
@Lostalone:
I Just managed to buy a samsung jack adaptor today. Samsung does sell one here in singapore. You can plug any third party headphones with the mic adapter. Works like a charm.

My Captivate worked fine but using the same headset on my Bell Vibrant does not work on calls. Where can I find said adaptor or is there a specific headset for the Bell Vibrant/Galaxy S international that works?
It should not be hard if we can see/edit the source of the phone app and recompile it.
I will be looking for the source and how to recompile.
I am aware that using a nokia adapter solved the problem. I am using one myself. Though, There are still Times when such adapter is not suitable, such as jogging.

Headphones for Sony Xperia S

Hi all,
Some of you know, that new Sony Xperia (2012) line phones use CTIA 3.5mm standard (basically same as Apple's iPhone). I have seen some phone reviews and noticed, that standard headset is in one piece, you cannot disconnect headphones. I am looking for headset, where you can unplug headphones and connect better ones, and of course it has to work with new Xperia S.
Something like we had with Xperia X10:

You realize the mw600 won't work right on the xperia s if you just plug it in?
Sony changed the headset standard, to be compatible with the more widely used ctia standard (same as iphone). The pins are connected differently:
You can offcourse buy an adapter cable so that it will work.

you cant plug the MW600 into anything, its a stand alone bluetooth device that you can plug your headphones into. Unless you mean the headphones that might come with the Xperia, which I never use anyways.

Yea, it's a really nice little gadget I highly recommend it if you don't like all the wires. I always have my phone in my pocket or in a case on my side, because I am horrible with dropping phones.
I was on the Sony site looking at the new BT device, and apparently it has a seperate SD card for music and such, which could be big downside to owning that device if you are like me, and keeps a rather large music collection on your phone. With the small LED it would also make it a bit hard to dig through your music collection :/
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/smart-wireless-headset-pro/specifications/
Or it can go the other way....
Putting all the music to the BT devices SD storage would free up the space on the Xperia S :/ though with that space it's not really necessary to hold back...
meh, I dunno, I will see where this goes...It's over a week til I get even the phone anyways (I need to send in for the BT device apparently) we'll see from there how it goes.
I think the new headset can play music from the phone as well. And besides that it can act as a stand-alone mp3 player with the music on the headset itself.
So you could actually stick some extra music on the headset, it can take up to 32gb sd cards (a 2gb card is in the box).

iphone comp. headsets
Would be dealbreaker for me too...
At least my htc can use the mic en headphone part...
With headsets app I use the play button for play/pause/volume up etc etc...

sony xperia s......
I emailed Sony, hopefully they have a reasonable explanation. Cause if they don't know why I am going to be pissed.
"oh yes it is the standard 3.5mm jack" then they whisper "only works with some headsets", FAIL.
Have any of you compared the included headphones plug with one of the non working ones to see if they look similar or not?
I'm starting to get worried and thinking of canceling my preorder that is supposed to ship tomorrow...
Edit: Although after rethinking my question, that won't make a difference, both standards look similar... Hmm, I don't like the idea of having headaches when using different headsets...
They look the same. I had a buddy with a SGSII and his Samsung headphones work in the S AND he can use the sennheisers. Lame.
Headsets
HK being the crazy place that it is has a whole bunch of the headphones shops in the computer center, so I went around trying out a whole bunch of the headsets to see which ones work (HMV also does this too).
My testing included playing music and making phone calls and seeing if the button on the headset works.
Not an exhaustive list:
Sennheisers/Adidas are out (sucks cuz I want a pair of running ones)
Sony's are out (friggin' annoying)
Most that are iphone compatible are out
Jays One+ work (These are specific for Android) I got this pair
Marshall Minor FX work - I should have got this pair

[Q] Which wireless headphones should I get?

So as my title states, which wireless headphones should I buy? Keep in mind, my price range only goes up to £66. And also I would be really happy if it was in the UK!
Thanks.
I bought the Sony Ericsson MW-600 and love them. The dongle has a 3.5mm jack so you can use your own headphones easily.
I also use the Sony Ericsson MW-600 headset.

Hiya,
Have a look in here. I have SoundWear SD10 and Im very happy with them. Good sound quality and the bass for its price. Very good connection and range as well. Calls quality is also good. I also had Moor (the thin ones) which were very good. Dont buy Plantronics or Jabra Sport, too expensive and they dont work as good as these above.
What they said!
I love my MW-600s, depending on what music player you use it sends track info to the OLED screen on the dongle (Works with stock player, not poweramp )
You can pair up to 3 devices to it, I have my PC, phone and Laptop paired up.
Sound quality is great but I had some driver issues with Windows but that was resolved.
It's my second pair after my first pair were stolen as soon as the police said
they couldn't do anything I ordered a new pair right away £30 I paid.
They also work great for a home audio set up, plug that into the AUX port on your stereo
and you can control your music from the phone without getting up.
9/10 I give them, they lose a point because the ear buds that came with them have started to get a minute crackle in the right driver.
How is battery life when using a bluetooth headset or earphones?
I use these ones
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-HS3...I998/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1331676330&sr=8-1
Work perfect with all bt devices, good sound and radius. And you can use your own headphones as well. Also the clip is quite handy.
Havent noticed any great battery eating by bt so far. The battery doesnt make more than one day anyway but one day was no problem with normal usage und bt for 2 or 3 hours.
I really do appreciate all the suggestions and responses. But, what part of "headphones" did you guys not understand xD?
Still thanks a lot!
Wireless = bluetooth.
Headphones = Objects inserted into ears that produce noise.
Everyone seems fairly on-topic IMO.
My personal suggestion though, Plantronics Backbeat 903 or 903+. Wearing my pair as I type this. Beyond comfortable, durable, great battery life, good sound.

I use the Philips SHB6110
Very good headphone.
If you listen about 8 h/day, the battery should last for 2 days.

There is a huge difference between "earphones" and "headphones" mate...
thanks for the suggestions..help me decide what to buy. will try one of these
Thanks to this thread I got some Sony Ericsson MW-600s. After a few days I'm really pleased with them, using my own phones. Has all the features I want - volume/skip/stop/call, easy to clip on anywhere and works flawlessly.
I got those a few days ago:
LG Tone (HBS-700)
What shall I say? Awsome!
I use Sennheiser MM100's, picked them up cheap (£60) when O2 were selling them off as end of stock.
Battery life is good, 7+ hours continual use, charge from USB (one of the rarer USB types too, replacement cables are a nuicance to get but not impossible and not expensive either). They can charge from PC/Laptop or a 5v adapter same as most phones use.
Not sure if you could get them as cheap elsewhere, I lucked out with O2, but worth hunting around for!

I actually ended up on settling on the Sony MDR-RF865RK
It gets me 25 hours of battery life, 100m distance and charging to full takes 3.5 hours .
It only set me back £65, so I'm not so fussed about it ;P
have u tried the 100m distance? as far as i know, bluetooth is best indoors, but even then for only 10m.

Well, I think the 100m distance is for people with backyards that they need to mow every week And luckily I do not have a backyard
But still the feature is pretty cool ^^ The only bad thing is that I don't know how to connect these headphones to my TV -.-

Anyone tried the HTC Car Stereoclip?

I was planning to buy a belkin BT to AUX adapter in my car + holder so I can enjoy GPS and music without wires, though I found by accident this HTC Car Stereoclip on the official HTC website.
I want to know i someone tried it and if it's reliable
+1
What I've read about it is that it sound is supposed to stream through it in very high quality
Would be interesting to know how practical it is.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I wonder where we can buy it now in Paris?
I'm planning to get one of these Belkin Gizmos and report back: http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=525857
I was going to buy the same Belkin, but the cables and 12v charger are uglier than the ''nude'' stereoclip.
I received an answer from HTC support, the stereoclip should stream all audio from the One X,included videos
Instead of buying a 600$ Pioneer to have video clips and concerts in your car(and lose wheel controls) I will get the stereoclip + official stand.
The bad news is that HTC will not release them in Europe/Asia before June, even mid June
Still nobody?
I want to know if it's good in playing videos and streaming the sound over the car's speaker?

I'll be getting mine in the next week. I can test and let you know!
So the carclip works well. It honestly sounds just as good as a wired connection. Also, all media will play through the receiver, meaning anything that normally is controlled by "media volume" will play through the car stereo. However, when you receive a call, it will revert back to the phone's on earpiece. My phone is affected by the poor wifi/bluetooth connection issue so the range is fairly small ~1 foot. However, when I press down on the back of the phone the range improves to > 2 feet easily. Also, I can't get my phone to autopair, but that may be due to the weak connection.
I have had it for about 10 days now. It works very well. I have tried it with both my One X and my iPhone 4s. It will pair with up to 8 devices. The sound is awesome, just as good as a CD to my ears. It lasts about 5-6hrs on a charge. I have not had any problems with it cutting out. If you are interested in this....I would say "Buy it". I am VERY impressed with it! It works with video also.

Just curious, can the device be charged while being used at the same time?
What sort of prices are people paying? Full rrp of £50?

I paid a little less than that from here http://shop.htcpedia.com/htc-car-stereoclip-audio-bridge-a100.html
I heard that Sprint and AT&T stores here in the US will be selling them for even less than that. ~$50-60
Reviving the topic because we just got it in Lebanon!
Price: 120$
At this price I can buy both stereoclip and htc car holder in Europe!!!
So is it worth buying it after all?
Can you use GPS voice assisted app with it?
Also is it still better than the samsung HS3000?

I was thinking of using a big black feutre on the logo to hide sammy.
Did you call microage for the medialink?

no bro i don't have time, ill do this in the weekend
feutre haha better find something leathery and nice from a gift shop and glue it using uhu super gel (support leather and rubber)
Honestly get the hs3000, it sounds brilliant, no audio sync issues when watching videos
It works with phone calls, it also has a built in mic, had a few calls with it, I didn't ask how I sounded but they didn't complain at least
It has the play/pause, a phone button to either make calls, answer /hang up etc
Only cost me £30 as well, comes with some crappy head phones, I use the beats in ear ones I got with hox, sounds almost better than when plugged in
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The problem is that sammy Lebanon didn't bring it here!
So I must stick with HTC expensive solution...
Now I must choose between Stereoclip + stand = watching video clips,GPS...
Or add the factory Citroen USB Box which add USB plug to my car audio= control music with the wheel buttons + get mp3 tag on the car's screen.Though it will cost 350$.
The good thing of stereoclip is that I will be able to use it with most cars later and any BT device while the citroen usb box will only work with my actual car
