For the past few days now around 1 am - 2am PST, my phone keeps popping up with a warning saying the phone is going to download the 2.3.4 update. Is there a way to disable this with TB free on a verizon stock rom, that has the bloatware removed (with backups from TB free on ms)? Either by making a backup of Whatever has to be uninstalled.
Also, due to the fact that the bloatware isn't on the phone will the phone even accept the update, IF it was downloaded?
Most of the time I turn off wifi and wnable airplane mode before I go to sleep, but the msg pops up when I'm still awake.

Use TB to freeze the "Mobile Care" app, that will do it.

The thing is I only have the free version, and don't have enough to get the pro key yet...and I don't know when I will have enough to get it.
So can I just make a backup of it and uninstall it?

I have my dinc running skyraider vanilla 3.2, but my girlfriend is on the stock verizon pushed ota. No root (yet) but she got the update a little over a week ago. She just texted me and said theres another update trying to be pushed to her device as of today. I told her to hold off for now, as I haven't seen anything about it. Anyone seen this yet?

Can you pull it off the phone and upload it?
???
+1 vote for "Google Maps"
Someone reported on AndroidForums that Verizon and HTC confirmed there was a problem with the battery discharging quickly on 'some' phones running 2.2 and an update was forthcoming. Don't know if that's related or not.

Me, too, at 4:08 PDT today. I'm rooted though so nothing happened besides the txt msg.
Well my battery life still sucks on 2.2 so I for sure want that update. I assume I have to put back the stock recovery to get the OTA. Does anyone have a link to download it? Is it the same boot loader that 2.1 used?
Some easy instructions would be good also.
Thanks in advance.
So, I have noticed that even when I kill an app, it always starts back up like a minute later...this the reason the battery life is horrible?
She just got home so I will mess with the phone in a bit and see if I can get logcat to find the link and post it up. Thanks for the info everyone. Seems helpful.
Aww geez, never mind. It was just the "info" message.

Yes false alarm. That message is simply a recap of the 2.2 features.

Why are you "killing" said app in the first place?

Your battery life is horrible more likely because you are running an app killer....uninstall it and I bet your battery last longer....
I just donated for titanium backup which allows you to freeze some programs. I froze skype and other bloatware and now they dont start up randomly anymore

instead of freezing the bloatware, just use titanium to remove them. go to the backup/restore tab, and tap the app you want to remove, and there should be an uninstall button.
I've had this issue with the Android Market 3.1.5 (and lower) - stock 2.3.4, no root.
Usually if I get a notification that I have an app update and click on it, it takes me to the my apps section however there are only the paid apps i've bought sitting there. Not the other 90 apps that I've downloaded free.
I go and clear data and that works sometimes. And other times it doesn't. I've submitted the problem to Google but I was wondering if others see this behavior and if there are any work arounds???? It's real frustrating.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the Market. Rebooted phone, pulled battery. Even done a factory reset. This happens on my E4GT and my Evo4G.

If you restored a backup chances are market links were restored and you will have to wait for an update or unstall and reinstall the app

I have the same issue, I prefer the older market version (wich does show all my apps, and shows the updates better also), but it wont allow me to keep it from updating for some reason, even if I freeze market updater.
it always upgrades to 3.15 after a few times going into market
this has been happening to me since I got the phone. I rooted and then went back to stock kernel, which kept me rooted. I restored my titanium backup apps with data and I believe that may have something to do with it.
as soon as I see that I have updates I know I will have to go to applications and clear data and reopen and it will then show me all of my apps again.
I talked with Google's Market help today. They know about this and are trying to figure it out.

I live in Europe, so not using T-mobile, however, my phone is rooted and debloated but I still have this annoying service from t-mobile that tries to backup my contacts. Is there any way to disable this. I have tried removing this from my Accounts and sync, however could not even following data wipe. Is there a workaround this?
You should be able to go to Settings -> Accounts and Sync to disable the automatic backup.
Sync is disabled, still I have the process running form time to time

Or just remove it. Useless service. Google backs up our contacts.

I had the same problem. I moved to the Cayman Islands and brought my SGSII with me (unlocked it with the code from tmo customer service).
Even though I was on a different carrier with a different sim card and turned off the sync for that it would still pop up frequently in my notifications bar.
I decided to root my phone and install a custom rom ( went with Juggernaut V4.1 which is awesome). I also used the bloater to remove all tmobile apps. This did the trick.
Not sure if there is a different way but this worked for me, hope it helps.
Hi everyone!
Can we make a list of all the bloatware that we can safely remove / Titanium freeze without ruin your OGP.
I've stopped this with the Task Manager
- AT&T Messages
- myAT&T
- YPmobile
Thanks!

You can delete some of them directly from your app drawer. Just open your app drawer hit the plus/minus sign in the top right corner and delete. I froze the rest of mine with titanium.
When the f*ck did we get ice cream??

Thanks for the reply.
I did that, but the real reason is the upcoming roms that people will custom and I think they gonna need this info for cleaning/debloating them and stuff.
=)
You won't ruin your phone, you will just have to find the stock ROM (on one of the threads here) and flash it back with LGFlash tool. The obvious ones to remove would be anything AT&T Related using Root Uninstaller if rooted. Also any obvious apps that are preinstalled such as Polaris and Kindle can be removed if chosen too. I also removed all Tests (Bluetooth Test, Wifi Test, etc) Its pretty simple to know what to remove and not to.

I froze everything I don't use with TB. No issues at all.
Yes, they hang low

I've had issues with those apps and I dint know why. Whenever I removed the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi test apps, my phone freezes for 5-10 minutes on boot. Whenever I put them back, its fine again.
Happened on the original firmware and the new one. I've went all the way back to stock too.

Freezing apps with Titanium has worked great for me... for what its worth
It is driving me nuts!

If you have Root, use a Root-Level file explorer (I like Root Browser) to do the following:
Navigate to /system
Open /app
Find aab.apk
Long press on aab.apk and select rename
Rename to aab.bak
Reboot
So I've seen several people complaining about the AT&T address book, what is it doing,I froze all my bloat with titanium backup, So I never had any issues with it.
Just curious???

I did the same, frozen with Titanium Backup and never had any issues.
You can also call in to cust care & have them take the feature off your account. If you hit cancel the first 2 times it pops up it'll go away, but if you enable it even once, you have to either freeze it or call in for the feature change.
I rooted and froze it.
Its OVER!
