Language - HTC One X

Hello guys.
I have finally received my third X, but this one brought an HTC UK charger and another one for Portugal, similar to HTC own one but it says expansys.
No problem here so far.
The issue I have encountered is that due to the phone being destined to the UK, the Portuguese language isn't included... I have update to 1.29.401.11, and also flashed the ruu file directly but still the Portuguese language won't show (not even after a hard reset).
Any ideas of what could be causing this? Could the phone cid code have anything to do with it?
Thanks guys.

Nevermind... Downloaded the app "set locale and location" and...success!
The ruu has all the languages but probably it only shows the ones the cid code refers to. Don't really know...
Tks anyway

What does it have different? Is there a Romanian T9? And, BTW, I still get the "old" 1.93 ROM from the HTC site...

I never had a 1.93 ROM so i cant tell the difference.. no T9. Weather cities were from eastern europe i guess that is the only difference ). No romanian T9.
It might be a serial number issue on the HTC site. PM with you yahoo ID if you want the eastern europe ROM.

the only thing about this rom
RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE_EastEurope_1.93.479.3_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe(i am living in a eastern europeean country Romania got it from there )the operator said it is ok and recomended to do the upgrade from the site wich i did i am not a novice in windows mobilebut had to ask (warranty reasons)
SO i have upgraded today and my phone since then is overheating and it keeps restarting even when is plugged in the power cord .i have to say the phone is kinda new ,has about 2 week max of kind use
it was verry hard to copy back my data wich has 2.few gigabytes it was just keeping restarting(every 3 minutes i disable the charging when connected to pc and i managed to keepit alive for 20 minutes)) i dunno why but is annoying i will take it to the warranty
tried other roms not working(because it is network locked vodafone and i want to keepit like that at least 6 months warranty reasons)reflashed it 2 times hard resseted before flashing no result the same and the second time i have flashed it it was giving me a blurry image with no info on the display 20%...etc nothing at the end it 100% the image camed back
The major thing important in a name of the rom is the first 2 groupe of letters like 1.93 that is the real rom version and the last one are (operator countries extended rom versions etc)

[Q] date format wrong after ota 2.2

hi there,
i've got a little problem with the date format in android since the update.
in several apps (agenda widget, astrid tasks) the date is not shown as in android's preferences anymore: instead of "Mon, 31 Dec 2010", it shows something like "2, 2010 12 31" where the first 2 is supposed to mean monday.
i would blame the app for it, but since it appears in 2 apps and before the update everything was fine, i wonder why it shows this now.
i've got a little suspicion: before the update i installed the wwe rom version to unbrand my phone (t-mobile germany), maybe it's because of that? no chance to change the rom now (maybe to the europe edition of the rom), as the bootloader doesn't let me install any other rom, it seems.
anyone else with this problem? any ideas? it's not the biggest problem in the world, but every day it annoys me more and more... :-(
thanks!
I've also noticed this with the following apps:
Deluxe Moon
wetter.info
Since not all apps have this problem I would say it is a problem of the app and not of the ROM or Froyo itself.
And we are not alone:

I've just noticed that it seems to be a language problem. After switching from German to English (UK) and restarting the device it seems to be fixed...
I have the same problem but i'm french. I made the manip but it did not work. when the phone is in english it works but when I will return to French it does not work anymore even by rebooting the phone.
Some here,
after updating my HTC Desire with the official distribution of Android 2.2 by HTC.
with the italian setting language.
I have the same problem and I think it affects all apps. They may appear to be fine in some apps though until you do something that causes them to be redrawn/updated.
I've noticed it in the following apps: Springpad and Shazam. This problem didn't occur until I upgraded to 2.2.
It happens with my native language (Norwegian) as well as Swedish and Danish. Setting it to English seems to resolve it for now.
Sent an email to HTC support a few minutes ago explaining the problem.
Same here, Czech language. Every 3rd party software was affected. But for example Jorte got updated and it is again showing correct day name instead of its number.

Received a response from HTC today. They claim that it's a problem with the app itself, and that it's up to the app developers to fix it so that it works properly on 2.2.
I'm sure its not an application issue, every app that uses SimpleDateFormat for formatting dates is broken, in an froyo emulator all is fine, on the desire it only works if English language is selected.

And what is with Froyo on the Nexus One. I've never heard from a date problem from the N1 people.
Does anybody here have access to a N1 with Froyo and can test it?

[Q] Telstra HTC Mozart and multiple keyboard languages

Hi,
I got the HTC Mozart from Telstra, which seems to be running only the English UK Keyboard.
I would like to add German as a second language.
Does anyone have a clue how you can do it.
Is there a language pack or sth I can download?
Has anyone been through this scenario already?
Alex

Cant change to UK locale on 2.3 HTC Rom.

I have run the HTC development ruu on my unbranded desire and I can't change the locale to UK. It shows on date and time that I am in the correct time zone but under languages and keyboard its still set to English US. Is there any way of changing this?
Now that you mention it I remember that before installing the Scandinavian keyboard and the Swedish dictionary from the market, the default keyboard AND dictionary was US English.
I didnĀ“t pay too much attention because there are no Scandinavian keyboards in the earlier versions and so I always install this from market. The difference is that in Froyo there was at least a Swedish dictionary, even if it was a bit rudimentary.
Perhaps this is one of the things cut down to save space. There must be some keyboards and dictionaries you can install from the market I suppose.
The problem that i have is weird, i am set to UK time and location but for some reason as the language is set too US English i cant access the UK Android Market or the UK Amazon MP3 market. I would have thought that as my location was set to UK i would get UK based stores/apps?
Does anyone know how i would go about changing it to UK?
Any help is much appreciated.

Hi - hope you're still getting notifications of this, but can you confirm that sorted out your issues with the UK Android Market? I've just done pretty much the same thing with the Gingerbread update and noticed it didn't have English (United Kingdom) so Play Store is saying some apps can't be installed in my country, when they were installed fine before flashing.
Thanks
John

a new trick without downloading any programs.
go to settings>apps>All> scroll down and click on "customization settings provider" and choose force stop
then go back to languages and you'll find all the languages you may think of showing now. Choose any language you want.
Thx all
