could you give some more info about what you did?
you say you unlocked bootloader,
did u install xrecovery? did u wipe user settings? did u return to factory default? wich rom did u install after unlocking?
you also should have at least read the next page:
[How-To] Safely test custom kernels / custom ROMs and get back to stock SE 2.3 ROM
after that you might want to try to fix your device by following the [Tutorial] Fix FOTA bricked (unlocked bootloader) Phones
after you have tried those steps let me know if it worked for you

Just post if it works or not here!
Hey @ all
i'm a new SE Arc S user and saw my friend using a custom rom on his galaxy s so i decided to give it a try myself ^^
reading the FAQ i got to the thread Read BEFORE flashing!!
it says before flashing i got to test if i can get into the download mode.
so i tried all three methods but i can't.
then i went through many other threads and saw that it actually works on an arc s.
so my question is how do i do it?
i already rooted my phone and i have installed the android sdk including platform-tools and the adb drivers.
additionally i tried to get into recovery mode using the button combination but it doesn't work as well.
Information to the phone:
Arc S (LT18i)
Android-Version: 2.3.4
Build: 4.0.2.A.0.42
Kernel-Version: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected]#1
if there are any more questions just ask and i will try my best answering them ^^
hope someone can help me
stiil
You have to unlock your bootloader, push a kernel via adb, and install a custom ROM via CWM recovery.

EDIT:
Your guide is for the Samsung Captivate.
Start here.
Thx for your replay.
The guide you linked in your post is for an arc.
Does it work on my arc s too?
Of course, I own the Arc S too and about 95 % of the kernel/ROMs/MODs/themes/etc. works for our device too.
heey
i just unlocked my bootloader.
now i would like to back up everything so that i can switch back to the actual state of the phone.
but recovery is only described with changing the kernel.
is there a different option for a backup?
Flash this on stock kernel, go in recovery and take a backup.
Then you can push kernels, flash custom ROMs, etc.
that means if i make a backup using cwm i bavk up the kernel too?
No, you just push kernels via adb, but you can when ever you want push the stock kernel again.

Download Flashtool and ICS (4.1.B.0.587) or GB 4.0.2.A.0.62 Generic firmware, which is a FTF file, and flash it in. Will install fully stock firmware on your phone.
i did somethin stupid :crying: i flashed a relock bootloader ftf on from xperia s by accident. Now phone is bricked wont turn on however still works in flash and fastboot mode, PC companion won't repair.
is there an overall img that i can flash in fastboot that will wipe this ftf and fully restore phone?
LOL...what were you thinking? seriously...
download 4.0.4 ftf for "ARC S" if you have an arc s and flash it in flashmode

Yep, reflash everything and hope for the best. You may have damaged the trim area if the reflash doesn't resolve the issue I would go in the general section and look for a thread for remote support - they should be able to sort you out

thanks for your help. i didin't think a simple ftf flash would fix it but it did.

Uhm, such thing doesn't exist. I use Flashtool 8.5 and I have no problems with flashing GB or ICS firmwares on both Arc S or Live.

If you want to root, then you have to downgrade to .58 or older firmware(lower than 58). If you want to unlock bootloader, then firmware doesn't matter, bootloader is not in the ROM.
If you unlock bootloader and you need root and recovery, you can install a custom kernel(most of them already include autoroot and recovery), your ROM gets automatically rooted and you already have recovery aswell.
I Should hold the BACK button before turning on handphone OR hold BACK button after turning on handphone and then connect OR just hold the BACK button without turning on phone?
Confusing. Anyone can give some guide :crying:

Turn off the phone, hold down the Back button and connect the cable. Do not use the power button at all. When its ready, disconnect the cable and turn it on.

Fastboot is for flashing kernel. You need unlocked bootloader for this process.
Flashmode is for flashing the stock rom.
If you had bootloop just flashing the stock rom again.
