OEM extended battery for sprint GNEX?? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have the sprint galaxy nexus and was wondering if there is an OEM extended one like the Verizon one but for the sprint version I know Verizon's would most likely work but I want a back cover with sprint logo on it and same texture

Who knows if Sprint will release its own extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus.. i would figure so if VZW has it..
But i would recommend just buying a 3800mAh battery from a 3rd party.. if your going to pay $50 at least make it worth it and have a battery that goes 1 day straight and not a extended battery that just going give you 2 extra hours..

I've read a couple of posts here that the Verizon extended battery will work with the Sprint standard battery cover. Might wanna read up on that a bit.

Well the 3800mAh batteries are gigantic and ugly. Sometimes you just want that little bump without a perceptible difference in size. And last time I checked, VZW is still selling the Samsung extended battery for $25.

Verizon extended battery (2100mAH) + cover [Will it work for GSM version?]

hey guys,
I just read an article about the Verizon extended battery + cover for the Nexus (it's OEM - i dont think i'd ever buy a 3rd party battery)
http://www.androidcentral.com/close-look-verizon-galaxy-nexus-extended-battery
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...s-extended-battery-2100mah-battery-cover.html
The 2100mAH seems like a good upgrade from our 1750mAH battery, but im more curious if this would fit in the GSM version? But then again, we would also need a cover as well, because i know the LTE dimensions are slightly different...
or has anyone heard of OEM extended battery coming to the GSM version?
If its a small sacrifice in thickness i'd probably jump on it
as long as it isn't a hunchback cover i will most likely get it. i'm all about extending battery life but those covers make the device very uncomfortable.
if its anything like the OEM extended battery for the Galaxy S2 , it should be very minimal difference in the back cover
You know the tiny "hump' at the bottom of your phone on the back?
I think the extended battery basically makes that uniform with the cover+battery, so there's no longer a hump but just a straight back
it might even feel better to grip
I will definitely be buying this. I was interested in the 2000mah one from Korea but this is even better. Hurry up and get announced for UK/EU!
Be aware that the i515 battery (VZW) is _wider_ than the i9250 (GSM) battery. In other words, you cannot interchange batteries between the Verizon LTE phone and GSM phones. It will not fit.
So that Verizon extended battery is only for the i515.

Thank you for the information; saves us a lot of hassle and speculation.
May I ask however, what is this based on?
Are there any pictures or other way to quell doubts?

I stopped by the Verizon corporate store and was going to buy another battery, but it doesn't fit (not even close) I can confirm that it's a good bit shorter and wider than the gsm battery.
Posted images for you in a separate thread:

Now we need the Korean version, 2000 mAH Galaxy Nexus battery.
I hope that would be compatible with gsm version and available to purchase.
Keep in mind that the NFC is built into the battery. So if the extended batteries don't have NFC then your GN won't either while the extended battery is in it.

That should not be a concern. All of these batteries are factory Samsung batteries and clearly marked with NFC on them.

Most are, yes. But extended batteries tend to be third party and not something Samsung and other manufacturers tend to release. Just something extra to check before buying a new battery.

If it's an official extended battery from Samsung (like the 2000mAh for Galaxy SII), then it'll have NFC as the Galaxy Nexus has the NFC in the battery. Extended batteries from MUGEN is another thing but the announced 2000mAh (Korea) and the 2100 (Verizon) will be official Samsung stuff.

My opinion about a 4000 mAh mugen battery

Hello guys, I would like to tell you my opinion about a battery that I had the chance to try. I'm talking about a battery produced by Mugen for Samsung Galaxy Nexus, with a capacity of 4000 mAh (more than double of normal rate).
Usually I'm used to use the smartphone with many apps in the background (WhatsApp, Dropbox, Beautiful widget and many other) and i often run games, especially in down time of the day. Im also linked to a carrier that has only 3G. Before attempting the battery I used to utilize three batteries so i can change eachother when the current one is downloaded.
With the Mugen's 4000 mAh battery i have found no problems to arrive safely at the end of the day, even when I spend hours playing.
In addition, the cover included in the package greatly improves the grip (im serius!).
I've tried it for 5-6 days but if you want to get more details, statistics and screenshots you can view this video review (in Italian)
You can buy it from www.mugen-power-batteries.com
Does this battery maintain NFC ability? I've seen some extended batteries that don't and some that do.
Thanks.

Glad to see you got through the day. I bought a cheap 3800mah battery off ebay for my nexus and I don't think it did any better than the 2100mah extended battery. :-/
That pop out stand seems useful too.

bah...i just did the same thing, though i still dont have either the battery or the phone yet. i'll report back when i get both.
I have used the Seidio extended batteries since my Dinc days and I love them. The 3800 monster for gnex does have nfc and it'll last for days with my SlimICS rom.highly recommended. The casing leaves a lot to be desired but its totally worth it for me for battery life.

sometimes you get better than what you pay for . I recall getting a cheap 1800mah battery for my i9000 and it definitely lasted longer than the OEM one.

The Mugen Power 4000 Mah supports NFC. A larger backcover is included.
The back cover has a kick-stand, this is great for watching video's.
The only disadvantage with the new backcover is that you cannot change backcovers too often. This is due to the vurnable "holding pins"
I have my 4000 Mah for about a month now, and it is awesome! The battery lasts 2,5 day's with heavy usage. Now I just have to find a way to cut out the back of my cardock in a proper way to fit the larger backcover.
Sorry for late reply! The battery is NFC compatible, i've tested it with another phone and it works!
It can totally replace the original battery

Anyone buy an extended battery for their gsm sgn?

I mean from say the verizon corporate store? Or maybe best buy?
How many hours does it add overall?
Yes of course people have bought Extended batteries for their GSM model. But you are not going to find them in a Verizon store or Best Buy.....or any physical store really. You will have to order from a third-party such as on Ebay or Expansys (Though after waiting a month for mine, I don't recommend them) I use my phone regularly, but not crazy like some users here and I can easily get a day and a half of use before having to plug in.

Thanks, but I see alot of those rated as just being 2000mah? Thats only 250mah more than the stock battery. I'll probably get 10 extra minutes with that? I dont mean to carry as a spare but to use as a replacement.

That is the OEM extended battery. I'll say you'll get 15-20% more life.
If you want to go crazy you can get something like Seido's or Qcells.

I have the gsm 2000 mAh and I initially thought it wouldn't last much longer than the stock one but instead you really do, in my opinion, get that 15-20% extra battery time! I am very satisfied with it. With normal use (checking emails, sms, whatspp, rss reader) I was able to get 3 and a half hours of screen on time!

I'm sure some have tried. Imagine their disappointment when they learned the hard way that a battery meant for the lte phone will not fit a gsm model.

I have the 2000mAh extended battery and it's pretty good. You get about 15% more battery life which is not too shabby for the price and the very small amount of bulk and weight it adds to your phone. It actually feels better in my hands with the extended battery.
If you're using a case, you may have some issue fitting it with the extended battery. Some cases are made for the extended battery but they're not as common as the standard cases. It's a non-issue if you roll with a naked GNex like me.
Vzw and Sprint extended batteries do not fit into gsm GNs.
Ebay has a lot of sellers from Korea selling the real oem version for the gsm model.

I would agree with this. The extended battery and cover just makes it a little thicker and fits nicely in your hands.

Who else is waiting for the extended battery?

All,
I just got back from thailand where I bought my note 2. I had my trusty note 1 with me and of all the 7 extra batterys I bought my best friend was the 5000ma extended battery. It was ultimate freedom.
I am waiting for a supersonic 7000-10000ma extended battery for the sgn2. Anyone else?

To be honeat, given battery life so far, I dont see the need.
I've already purchased couple of batteries from eBay for N2 which won't be here until Tuesday.
I probably will not get extended battery because I would like keep my N2 slim and sexy.
Who knows? I may change my mine later on. It will be depending on how I use it.
I may not even need a extra battery.
Personally, I don't think the bulkiness of the extended battery is worth it for the note 2. The stock one is enough to last me the whole day

No way, I will buy a dock to charge phone and a extra battery and if I see that one day I could need it, I will carry the extra battery, but Im not going to convert the note2 in a horrible monster.

lol i used to think the same but i loved my sexy monster with bulky battery.. I think they can pack a 8000ma one into this puppy when they finally release them
I wouldn't mind an extra battery, I got large hands and as it is a bit thicker would not be a problem to me. It's really all about getting used too and getting less dependable. I would like a dock also.

Where can I get an extended battery door for Verizon?

Anyone know where I can find just battery door for the extended 2100mah battery? Looked on Ebay and googled it but I could only find the battery + door bundles.
Or does anyone have an extra one lying around that you would sell?
Just buy the battery + door. It's only $9 at Tmart.com
You never know when you need an extra battery.
My battery crapped out and I had to wait like 5 days without a cell phone while I wait for the thing to ship to me.
Worst 5 days of my life.
I'm actually buying another one so I don't have to live a day without a cell phone.

Link? I don't see it on Tmart.com. I see an aftermarket 3800mah battery & door. I'm looking for the Verizon OEM 2100mah extended battery door.
Terribly sorry. I guess I need to go back to elementary school and learn to read. I just read the title and automatically assumed "extended battery" to be 3800 mAh. There is none in Tmart. 2100 mAh... Is that common? And I think for accessories it doesn't matter if it's GSM or Verizon, but I could be wrong.

The GSM, Verizon and Sprint doors are all different. I actually have the extended Sprint door for my Verizon GNex but even after modifying the door by taking off one of the clips, it still doesn't fit quite right. There's some gap around the camera that's bugging me and that's why I'm looking for the OEM Verizon extended door.
My goodness! I have always thought that verizon GSM and sprint phones just differed by band or whatever, but I had no idea that they would actually manufacture the phones a little differently to prevent cross usage! That is SO lame!
Yea, overall, the Verizon and Sprint versions are a little thicker than the GSM one.
