Hey guys I'm really desperate right now...
I don't know what to to, I can't boot my Desire, I can't get into recovery, just fastboot is working. I'm always stuck on the splashscreen.
To begin with the story, I rooted my Desire months ago, flashed a new rom from time to time and everything worked fine. So yesterday I wanted to try out RCMix S CM7 where the FAQ said i need S-OFF.
So this also worked quite fine. But then I got problems partitioning my SDCard (dont know what why or so, my Desire didnt recognize it anymore)
Today I tried again but I made it even worse, now I can't boot my Rom anymore and I can't get into Recovery. So what should I do? I searched the internet for hours now and tried nearly everything.
I tried to flash an official RUU, in fact this one: RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
Becaus the others were too "old". But when I tried starting this one it couldnt detect my desire. USB connecion error.
But still it seems it flashed a new hboot because now I am S-ON again.
Then I tried to flash a Stock ROM via fastboot, which first failed because it wasn't signed and the second one failed because android-info.txt and android-product.txt were missing.
I tried to flash the recovery again but it's still stuck on the splashcreen.
I don't know what to do anymore... could you PLS help me? Or is my Desire now bricked??
What can I do, or try...?
greets patrick

If fastboot is working you should be pretty much safe. It seems like you got an usb brick. Try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691187
My Suggestion ... Create a Goldcard beofre doing anything.. once done you can put PB99IMG.zip into ur SD card and it will flash automatic once you goto fastboot... but Goldcard is a must for this.. if you dont knw search how to create goldcard.
For Goldcard
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...gold-card-for-htc-desire-without-hex-editing/
or
http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/
Pat, is your phone branded ?
Flash the correct RUU for your phone (one that came with your phone originally), it does not really matter how old it is. after you done that your should get back to stock you can re-root it and then load the firmware you want.
if you don't know what your phone came with originally. then you will need a goldcard to get back to stock
@paul.c: nope it isn't branded
@dennis.l: I can't! I tried some of this list: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
The old ones with 1.15 and 1.21 started, but didn't work because it said they are too old or something like that.
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122704.exe
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
Then I tried the newer one with FroYo, but this one throw and error saying it can't even find or connect to my phone.
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release
So what I've read so far I definitely need a goldcard right?
But all those manuals say I have to boot up and activate USB Debugging Mode... but I cant boot up a rom. The only thing that is working right now is fastboot.
Is it possible to make a goldcard without booting up? Or do I have to get a working Desire to make the goldcard?
I haven't got a cardreader either but seems I've got to get one.
Right now I'm not at home so can just try it in the evening.

You don't need goldcard for unbranded phones.
Even Unbranded phone requires goldcard to be able to flash any RUU...
So I prefer you create goldcard.. and yehs you can create goldcard without booting..
If you have anyone with android mobile.. goto market and search for goldcard helper.. and insert you memory card in that phone.. and run the goldcard helper.. it will give you the reverse CID .. whcih you can use to create goldcard... but you will require a card reader for sure..... just try your luck with your current phone.. just plug in the phone and run the Goldcard tool.. and check if your phone is detecting
THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!
You saved my life! xD
I made a goldcard as you said with the help of a friend and his desire. Then I put it my phone and suddenly I could flash the newest Stock ROM
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release
So everything went great, I've got root again, a working stock rom and I'm able to start recovery mode again.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Anytime Bro
I recently experienced a similar problem. And all the stuff you described wrong with your phone is the same on mine.
What I want to know is how to get back to stock and all that? A step by step guide would be very much apreciated..
I tried following this guide:http: //forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639
but as I try to enable my sdcard it get an error:
"The program can't start because AdbWinApi.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem".
I recently installed the JDK and just downloaded the newest android SDK to work with.
Besides I'm considering whether I'm doing this right. I do have to use the CMDprompt right? and direct it to my androidsdk/tools directory?
I'm pretty much new to messing around with my phone through the CMD though. Please be gentle when you describe any methods that might work..?
Regards,
Me

Adbwinapi.dll was moved to the platform-tools dir in the android sdk and the sdk path in Windows hasn't be updated. In win xp right click my computer, go to system then click the system variables button. Find "path" and change it to point in to the "platform-tools" folder... Note I'm not at my pc so I can't remember 100% what tab the system variables button is on

Stumbled into the same problem. Just download it from the internet.
hi,
rage is right, better declare environnement variable, right click comupter - select properties - windows select advanced and you should see variable environnement. just add the path where adb is installed... mine is the following defaut path(C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\tools) + (C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools) should add the in the user environ... name = path variable= the 2 path separated by a ;
Well I got desperate and I think that I've totally bricked my phone. I was going to a family arrangement and I didn't know the way so I was hoping that flashing the original RUU, would make me able to use the phone and the navigation in it, while starting the phone in fastboot would help. Seems it didn't. The RUU I tried to install seems it was a wrong one (here to say that I tried flashing it through the installer on my pc), but this was stated pretty late in the installation process.. where the guide told me to install a proper one.
My phone is now totally unresponsive. It won't even charge. When I hold the power button it just vibrates once and then nothing else happens.
Is it bricked? If so, does anyone know what my chances are with my warranty? Now that I've had it rooted and stuff, does my warrenty then expire and can they "track" the rooting part if I hand in it to their support?
Best of regards,
Me.

only guessing but if NOTHING turns on or boots, as in you just see a black screen then there is not going to be a way for any one to know the phone was rooted
try taking it back on warranty
I thought the same thing myself. Since it's unable to boot into the "recovery" menu by holding down "power + volume down" I guess it's not rooted anymore anyhow. During the RUU installation I noticed that it was installing a new "image-something" which I'm guessing means that it was writing over the root and recovery after which the installation failed.
Anyhow I'll try that and hope for the best. Thanks

Are you able to recognise the phone in adb at all?
From what I know it's very rare to completely brick unless you are flashing hboots or radios.

You need to reflash with the original RUU, you can find some RUUs from here: http://www.filefactory.com/f/7cc7b2fbdd03c031/
THIS PROCESS NEEDS A RELOCKED PHONE. (fastboot oem lock).
edit: the RUU for your version isnt published already. You need to wait for the RUU, Why can you use an older version? You can't because the DOWNGRADE isn't posible with S-ON.
If you know what file you modified, maybe extract it from a similar ROM and adb push it?
if youve edited the build.prop without backing it up first then quite simply youre asking for trouble....
ALWAYS Nandroid and back up anything before altering it.
If you can access download mode then your safe, just connect up usb for fastboot and run a downloaded RUU, if youre not sure what rom to get then id try HTC EUROPE ones they first, these are probably the most common ones.

i will backup the file to PC in next time when i edit any system file...... i have learn a lesson
Yer try not to mess with the build.prop, i know its fun to tinker and see what can be achieved, but there is also a serious risk that comes with it, unfortunatley the file will stop your phone dead if you mess it up, if you save a backup to your pc then worst case you can push it to your phone via adb and overwrite the damaged one.
What CID are u on, eg, htc--001 ??, cidgetter works from market but not much use if you cant boot up, also what firmware are you running now, release, radio and release keys, that way you could extract the boot, recovery and system from the file and just flash them in bootloader.
YOU must relock your bootlock first, the above command in other post was the one to do that, if not, have u tried to flash CWM 5.8.3.1, and install from the recovery youll get both the super su and a custom rom, like android revolution, this way youll be back up and running on a custom rom based on the latest 1.29, you could then download the 1.29 ruu and run it, again after relocking the bootloader and for good measure download and install htcsync, the program delivers a much better driver for the one x, that should get you back to factory, unrooted, stock boot and firmware.
if the ruu isnt avail, find out what your latest ruu is and look for a custom rom based on that.
Keep us informed how you get on, im sorry you learnt the lesson the hard way, i would not wish this to happen to anyone, except for maybe Bill Gates lmao, but then he would just throw it in the bin and go buy another one ha ha.
I hope you get it sorted and remember, before you tinker, READ the guides on XDA, they are good and will really help you and always make a backup of anything you wish to experiment with.
Good luck.
If you still remember the file, try to get it from someone with the same version as you and push it through adb or recovery (if you can go to hboot, surely you can flash cwm again).

I had the same problem... and before.. i just flash the RUU again, but after i upgraded to 1.29.. that didn't work...(The RUU I had was 1.26) so with ALOT of searching on the internet.. i found the below Chinese site.. and luckily i can read chinese too...
anyway hope it helps.
Basically what i did was force the recovery to be install on my phone.. but there is a down side.. me alarm doesn't work.. everytime i try to change the alarm sound it just reboot... i am still trying to find a way to fix it... and maybe flash the 1.28 RUU to see if that will work.... but that will have to wait until tonite.
http://bbs.xda.cn/thread-11018720-1-1.html
last night , i had make a fake RUU(basic on 1.28.708.10 HongKong Version RUU,included recovery.img,boot.img,system.img) and flash it ,the result is my phone is recovered , all function is normal and i can get OTA now !!
Hi guys,
This is my first thread here in XDA, so, forgive me by a possible mistake.
I recently bought a HOX, the seller said that is the international version.
I'm in 4.0.3, with software version 1.29.707.11 (already checked for updates, but phone says its up to date)
So, sometimes when i turn my wifi on, he doesn't connect in my network (already saved), i go to wifi settings, put to scan, and, aparently, the phone don't scan the networks and doesn't found my network too.
Obviously, im on the range of the network, and don't have that factory problem with bad wifi signal.
And, sometimes too, phone takes a lot of time to get carrier signal, so i turn on plane mode, then turn off, and finally get carrier signal.
My question is: is this normal? What can i try to fix it? (Thinked on a factory reset)
I don't tried anything yet.
If anyone could help, i'll appreciate and if the thread is on the wrong place, please move it
Just try flashing the RUU, which will delete everything and return it to stock.

I am VERY noob in HTC tools, can you say me what exactly is this "RUU", and where i can get it?
Its basically, a factory reset right? What is the difference from normal FR to this RUU tool?

The difference is that it will reflash the ROM from scratch, it's the first thing HTC do when you take your phone for repair. It's very safe (when flashed with decent remaining battery) and very thorough.
Check the Shipped ROM sticky in the development section.
I am searching about the Rom Update Utility, but i'm not finding a good tutorial to follow, explaining the whole process.
If anyone could help me in the process
Edit:
Thanks again Pope! I'll look in dev section
You just have to charge the phone, put the phone in fastboot mode (hold down the volume down key when switching on the phone, then navigate from there), plug phone into Windows PC and double click RUU.
You may want to do an "adb backup" (you'll have search for this) beforehand, flash RUU, test and then restore.

This "restore" you mean in the end, its the factory reset in the phone? Or another restore?
Don't need a backup, i got the phone 2 days ago hehehe
My HOX is totally clean.
No unlocked bootloader, no root.
This will not be a problem doing the flash with the stock RUU right?

No, that's perfect, you don't need anything other than stock, and it will remain stock.

Ben sorry for tons of questions hehe
I'm reading a tutorial, and on it said that i need my CID number, in order to download the correct RUU file for the correct region of my HOX. How can i know if this RUU you posted is the correct for my HOX?
I've tried to get my CID number (downloaded the fastboot flasher tool) but when i put the cid command he returns: CID > None lol
I Know that my HOX is from Shangai (has a SH in serial number) and got my MID number.
So, i just need to know which file i need to download, the right one of course hehehe
If i will need the CID to know, i'll ask for the files for fastboot commands (i don't found them)
If not, just confirm the link you posted ealier if its the correct RUU for my case.
PS.: This link posted is only for premium users, and i don't have a premium acc, can you provide in another mirror?
You can't flash the wrong RUU, the phone won't let you.
You don't need your CID as you are not unlocked, knowing that you are 1.29.707.x is enough. It's the right RUU.
I'm sure you don't need me to hold your hand whilst you use google to find that file somewhere else. The sticky dev thread I previously mentioned will likely have a ton of mirrors for the file.
So.. i'll look fot the file in other places.
Today, i've connected in my wifi network, and the phone says there's an update...
It's the same update announced days ago, but in my case with a different update number...
Phone has been upgraded to ICS 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1.
If the problems persist, i will flash the RUU anyway, but, because of this update, nothing changes right? The RUU file you posted still valid for my HOX?
Not any more, you've updated your hboot, so you'll need an updated RUU (you can't install on older hboot, packaged with an older RUU).

Same here man...
In a network that once stood in 40% signal, now i'm getting almost 100%!

Hi,
I've managed to mess up my HTC One X quite badly.
From poking around with fastboot I've got the following information from it;
PJ4610000
Main Version 1.26.401.2
Cid - none
Radio 1.1204.90.13
0.43.0000
I know how I messed it up. I'd not realised you couldn't install Jellybeam roms onto 0.43.000. One Cyanogenmod (cm-10.2.0-endeavoru) later and bingo, bootloop.
Didn't help that I had less than 30% battery life.
Anyway, I've now used a script to get the battery life up - but I haven't been able to run any RUU's on this - I downloaded two;
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_O2_UK_1.26.206.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251230_signed
and
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_S_Vodafone_UK_2.17.161.4_Radio_2.1204.137D1.21_release_280390_signed
I'm thinking now that I cant do these either because I'm on 0.43.000 or because I need generic.
Ideally I want it to be latest Android and generic stock. It's for my wife, so she doesn't need superuser - but I'd like it so If I can get there too, great.
i've read through the main sticky's, but can't work out what the steps are I should be taking to get it out of the bootloop it's in and onto stock
What do I download? Do I need to do this;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660807
Or this;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904
whilst I do it?
Help much appreciated, as I seem to be stuck at this stage.
Download a 1.26.401 Ruu or a 1.29.401 Ruu. You are trying to install the wrong ruu because the main number is different !
My advice :
Download the 1.29.401 ruu and relock the bootloader, put the phone in fastboot usb mode. Then install the ruu with admin rights and let it install. Reboot the phone and go to settings-about-software updates and check for ota....if they are there install all of them you can get !
If there are no ota's available you look for the 2.17.401 ruu and install that the same way as the 1.29 and then do the ota........still no ota, download the 3.14.401 ruu and install that too. After that you can install any rom out here.

Right so;
1 - Download a 1.29.401 Ruu.
Ok, so like -
RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.12_Radio _2.1204.127.19_release_271851_signed.exe?
Having real problems finding a rom download, these all seem to be on bugsylawson.com which my ISP blocks, or Hotfile which is down, but I'll look into that.
So I run that, with the device in Fastboot and enough battery life, which I use my batch script for?
2. Then 'relock the bootloader'. Is that running fastboot oem lock, when in fastboot, using the .exe in the folder and a command line?
Any special to do 'admin rights'? Or is that my local Windows account you mean?
I'm a bit worried about running OTA as apparently, some of these RUU's for the One X the OTA updates don't work - 401.6, I think?
Not sure if this affects the one I suggested?
3. Then run another RUU to upgrade if OTA doesn't work?
Is that about right (and thanks for the help, obviously!)
1 correct, try this thread for download links
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094113
2: fastboot command is correct, leave the phone in the bootloader and start the ruu.exe from the pc, right click the file and select run as administrator
Ota should be there unless HTC/carrier has took them from the server, hence the advise that if it doesn't work to install a higher ruu after you tried.
3: correct

No joy with that site, I get;
This website has been reported as unsafe
www.androidruu.com
Then if I proceed;
"Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/ruu/public_html/admin/dbconnect.php on line 11
Could not connect: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)" when I try to download any RUU.
Site works fine here, sorry
See
Maybe Google the whole ruu name, there a couple of them on hotfile hosting.
I was planning to put a small selection to nu dev host. Nut thats of no use now. Not earlier than tonight
Actually I don't know the programing language, it may be PC or network security something like that.
We can do download at this site no problem.

The site works to the page you showed, I got that SQL issue from any rom link.
But luckily I've found RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.29.401.12_Radio_2.1204.127.19_release_271851_signed
elsewhere.
Running it now and it failed.
So now I'm showing;
Radio as 2.1204.127.19
And bootloader as 0.43.
Oh no, hang on, I've not locked the bootlader, maybe that's why. I'll try again.
Yep try again, it must be locked

I get an error when unlocking. It says "status read failed, too many links"
But on reboot, I get "Reloocked" at the top, so I've tried again and it seemed to work, well enough to get me to an OS!
Only thing is, my home buttons etc don't work.
Hmm that's weird. Rerun the ruu. And in OS try to update
Ow or look for the 2.17.401 ruu and install that also !
And do not unlock it until you are updated high enough ! You need at least a hboot of 1.36/1.39 which is common in 401 software numbers.

at the moment.

and fixed now
Awesome thant, although the 2.17.401 ruu there is messed up. It's only 80 Mb and that's way to little !
OK, got it up to the latest official version and the screen was broken, so had that replaced.
Now need to get Cyanogenmod on it.
First thing - relocking, right?
First thing is reading and understand the things you need to do. If you start by saying to relock it we are off for a bad start !
Read the stickies and guides first on what you need to do before messing around !

Sorry, didn't mean to cause concern - I meant, now my screen is repaired and I'd got a stock rom onto it- then upgraded the stock rom several times, the first thing I needed to do was unlock the bootloader again.
I went off, read up on rooting again and followed several guides. Rooted, unlocked bootloader and I've got it to the stage now where we're on a decent level of bootloader, Cyanogenmod 10.2 (stable) is running and the phone works.
So thank you very much for that.
Only issue I have now is the battery life has nose dived. It's barely doing 12 hours.
Screen seems to be mostly responsible according to the stats, 52%.
Might just try replacing the Kernel before I go stomping back to Fonedoctors about the replacement screen.
I've made so many changes to os, bootloader etc during this process I may well have missed a step with wiping the caches or similar.
I made a full backup of the stock os before I went to Cyanogenmod, so I can drop back to that now to check it's not the os if I need.
Any thoughts on a good Kernel? Or advice on how to most easily change kernel with minmal risk? I really don't want to dabble anymore, so it's tempting to go back to stock 4.2.2 and just strip out sense 5 - which I disliked.
Hi
Please can anyone help please?
Got a HTC One M8 on o2. I installed a custom rom (Viper One) and used it fine for over a year.
I've since changed to a S6 edge and wanted to revert my old phone back to stock rom unrooted.
In doing so I messed up!!!
I'm now stuck with a handset, everything wiped (including the operating system and backups)
I have TWRP recovery and need to re-install stock rom.
Can anyone help?
Thank you
This section is absolutely filled with the same question.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you wiped the OS, not realizing it would cause your phone to be without . . . an operating system?
NO, the operating was wiped by accident

Well the easiest way without going through any hassle to fix your phone and make it Stock/Like Brand New is to run a RUU.
I will explain how to do this process with a PC and you should be good to go :good:
1. Download HTC drivers for your PC if you haven't already Here, install and uninstall HTC Sync Manager while KEEPING "HTC Driver Installer".
2. Download the RUU that best matches your phone Here, you can possibly find a O2 RUU on xda but I did not find one my self for you unfortunately, otherwise if your phone is a GSM variant phone you can flash the international RUU from Here (Instructions would be different in this case)
3. Get your phone into bootloader by TWRP or if your phone is off then hold down VOL DOWN and POWER BUTTON at the same time until HBOOT shows up.
4. Plug your device via USB into the computer and verify that you see "Fastboot USB" on your phone's screen.
5. Run the RUU .exe file, I recommend you "Run as Administrator".
6. Follow the on screen instructions and sit back 10-20 minutes as your phone becomes brand new, do not interupt the process or you could have a permanent phone brick.

Is your problem fixed ? Do you still need a RUU for this ? Or the TWRP backup that you found in that link is good enough ?
Sorry not had time to try yet but hoping to in the next day or two
Thanks for the help guys, will let you know how i get on

Seems (from the vague description) that a few things went wrong:
1) You may have been proceeding without the proper knowledge of how to return to stock, and at least somewhat, "making it up" as you went along or "experimenting". This is not the proper way to go about things when modding (or in this case "unmodding") a phone. Stick to specific instructions and guides, as already pointed out the process to return to stock is well documented.
2) No degree of wiping or factory resets is going to restore a stock ROM, if you have a custom ROM installed (if that is what you were trying to do); which is a somewhat common misconception. Also, wiping things without understanding the result is a bad idea. The Wipe options are called "Advanced" for a reason. If you don't understand what it is (or the results of wiping it) than don't do it.
The process to return to working stock has been outlined by others. But if you want more specific help, you will need to do a getvar all and post the output (being sure to delete your IMEI and serial number, as those are personal info) so we can better determine the way forward. But in summary, you have 2 choices:
a) Relock the bootloader and run the proper RUU, of one exists for your CID version.
b) Restore the stock nandroid that corresponds to your CID and main version (firmware), then flash the correct corresponding stock recovery.

What did you do ?
Do you have right RUU ? Can you give the RUU name that you are using ?
I saw you use a ROM.zip .. AFAIK your O2 RUU is an exe file.
You also need USB 2.0 and latest HTC USB Drivers installed.
Do i need to re lock the bootloader first?
