[Q] Enable 2G mode? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've finally found a toggle program (Toggle2G) that will keep the phone in 3g only when screen is off. And goes back to 4g when it is on. But, I'd like to be able to have it go into 2G mode. Is there an option to enable 2G as a selection/option?
All I have listed is:
WCDMA
GSM
WCDMA
GSM auto
CDMA auto
CDMA Only
EvDo Only
GSM/CDMA auto
So, any way to get 2G as a selection and save some battery when device screen is off?

Verizon is a CDMA carrier, no GSM sir.
I had the same selections on my GSM Nexus, which obviously do not have EvDo and CDMA.

3G/2G Switch Button

hi, is there a hidden button for fast switching between 3g and 2g like in the comm manager of HTC hd2.
thx

The only thing I've found is this
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-curvefish-widgets-network2g3gonoff-jCzF.aspx
it lets you do it in 2 key strokes instead of 4.
On the Desire (at least mine), the options I see are GSM only, WCDMA only, and GSM/WCDMA auto.
Am I correct in inferring that GSM only is 2G?

Correct. Whenever I set mine to GSM only I can only get a 2G signal, even though I live in a strong 3G area. As soon as I switch to GSM/WCDMA or WCDMA only the signal switches to 3G.

i was reading this battery saving guide and i wanna make sure i did this right

well i was reading this guide and came across tip #22.
well that guide was made for the evo which is a cdma phone but when i checked my preferred network settings it was on wcdma preferred. since my G2 is a gsm phone,i changed it to "gsm auto (prl)".
was this the correct choice or should i have it set to wcdma?
thanks for any help!

Depends on what you are trying to achieve. GSM Auto (Prl) will switch between 2G and 3G based off what the tower is telling it to be on and the strength of the signal. From my experience this is the best setting for use and don't worry. Personally, I usually put my phone on 2G only, and only switch to 3G when I am going to be using the data.
WCDMA Preffered and WCDMA Only is telling the phone to hold 3G as long as possible, and if there is any 3G coverage to switch to it, or in the case of Only it will never switch off 3G, even when there is no 3G coverage available.
If you are trying to save battery GSM auto or GSM Only are your best bets, if trying to preserve a weak 3G signal for data WCDMA only, and if you are somewhere that gets decent 3G but the phone loves to switch to 2G for some odd reason, WCDMA Preferred.

[Q] How to Keep LTE and HSPA while Disabling 2G/Edge?

How to keep LTE and HSPA while disabling GSM/2G/Edge?
I keep randomly getting the "No Service" problem with Telus, and I'm assuming it's a very similar problem with the original S1.
I know you can set it to HSPA mode only, but I'm assuming this means no LTE.
I've gone to the phone codes > debug mode, but there's no option for LTE and HSPA... (not unexpected)

Settings>Wireless and Networks, Select "More...">MobileNetwork>NetworkMode>HSPA/LTE. This will ensure you connect to LTE while in LTE capable zones. You can also stay on only HSPA to save battery. Cheers.

Thanks, but that isn't an option.
There is no HSPA/LTE option, only GSM/HSPA/LTE (auto). I want to lock it out from ever getting to GSM (2G).
And no, I do not want to stay in HSPA mode, or I might as well have bought an international galaxy s3

How To Force 3G?

I've tried *#*#4636#*#* but the code doesn't work. As soon as I type that, my phone dialer just goes blank. So how do I force 3G?
Do you mean basically shut off LTE (force only use of 3G and GSM/2G/EDGE)? Since GSM is the often used fall-back from 3G, and it's not currently a great idea to only have 3G. At least not until carrier start shutting down the GSM networks (which is coming soon, from what I understand).
If that is what you mean, if you go into Settings>Mobile data, do you have the Preferred network type, with the option to force GSM and 3G? Or does it just change back, if you do have this option shown?
What carrier version of the M8 do you have? The network type is locked out (to always allow all three: GSM, 3G and LTE) on the US carrier versions. And this also affects the dialer codes to force the network mode.

Nah, nothing to do with 4G but my network keeps switching back and forth (3G/2G). I've noticed that this causes some battery drain
The code has worked previously with other ROMs but not quite so on Verizon 6.0. I wouldn't mind locking to 2G either since I don't use data

Switch GSM to LTE automatic

Hello guys.
I have a problem. I got my LG G3 F410S model so im new using 4g conection.
The problem is when a call is received my phone switch to GSM mode automatically, then when the call is finished my phone doesn't turn up to LTE automatically, so I need to activate airplane mode and turn off so my LTE signal is back again.
How can I configure my phone to switch automatically LTE after calls?
My carrier hasn't 3G band working on my phone model so I only have GSM AND LTE
Thanks.
