If it goes completely black, its a factory defect. Get it replaced.

Hi
Just got this phone as an insurance replacement and really like it except that the phone gets really hot when using mobile data and then won't wake from sleep. I'm assuming its a heat issue. Using the B112 version of the software. Initially I though it was because it was rooted but even after a reset and un-rooted it's still happening. Think I've pinned it down to it happening when mobile data is switched on but there maybe another issue. Any ideas or advice gratefully recieved. Thanks

Not an answer, but I use mine on full brightness with mobile data on whenever I'm outdoors and browsing, haven't had any issues. Running 116SP01 on O2 in the UK. You could try switching ROM versions and if it still does it flash back to 112 then return it as a faulty replacement?

Think I've pinned it down to screen brightness. Gamed for a good 2 hours last night on half brightness. The phone got hot but I was able to wake it from sleep as normal. Possible that the screen on full brightness generates too much heat when doing something intensive? May try the 117 rom this weekend. Thanks

You can find stock firmware here: http://www.huaweiblog.de/downloads/ascend-p6-downloads/
Try B119. You can flash this rom via update app in your phone.
Guys, please help . SM211 became randomly shut down . During charging and standby time is working properly , and during the active battery life it off. CPU-Z shows CPU temperature is constantly 80 °, but the body is cold. Tried different kernel and firmware , the result is the same. What could be the problem ?

Greetings aosaid, It sounds like battery problem. Can you tell me which part of the device is heating up?
If you look at the screen , the left side a little heated when I play , it has always been . The battery temperature is normal. Now charging, temperature is 29°.
I did calibrate the battery . The charge keeps well .
If you are rooted, you can download cpu control app to decrease the cpu frequency. See if its working.
Yes, rooted. I limited the CPU frequency up to 1 GHz, it has not helped
Try the following link:
http://androidforums.com/threads/guide-over-heating-fix-working.767904/
http://supportz.com/prevent-your-android-device-from-overheating/
Thanks for the info. But it does not help. The fact that any program displays temperature of processor 80°, always, it is not changed. No matter what I play or tablet is just lying on the table with a minimum of running applications. Even when during the game heats processor that is felt on the case, cpu temperature shows 80 °. It seems that the temperature sensor is not working properly. And the battery is always normal temperature, and shows adequate. I'm not sure that the temperature does matter at all. Yesterday the whole evening I run different applications, played a lot, the tablet never turned off. I want to check there is a dependence on the Connect to the network, wi-fi or 3G.
sounds right, sometime sensor might fail.
Forget about the temperature . I noticed exactly convinced that it is switched off only when I use the data transfer via 3G. When I connected to wi-fi, everything works fine and without chrarging.
sorry for my English, I'm ukrainian
Alright then,
So, nobody can't help?

I have a theory but idk if its proven. If the device got heat up and the sensor tell the system to force shutdown to prevent further damage. Thats what i have thought of. I think if you can get a new battery and see if it works.
still, I carried the phone for repair. the problem was in the connector on the battery. only. repair cost the $ 5. I thank you for your help

Hi all, i have experienced something strange with my Z5P. When i take a walk on bright sunny day, the screen got bright for about 2-3 minutes, but then it would go down to the dimmest state without any info. I tried to push it up manually but it won't do. so i decided to pocket it for a while and when i'm in shade, i turn it on again and it goes back to normal.. So my question is, is this normal due to 4K display? Or is it a bug in Marshmallow? Because it really makes me hard to read at outdoor after a while. The screen surface sure is hot though.. Anybody have the same experience?
I am still on Lollipop and have the same issue

I think this was happening in the other z series like the z1 too. But I think this because the phone would heat up and thus, the phone tries to cool down by doing that. I think there was a fix in the z1 phones but I'm not sure.

Hmm well my first XZU doesn't have any issue like that, but then again it's a big screen though.. So it's a shame if such issue happens due to heat..
Same thing has been happening to me too. Very very disappointed.
How can we fix it?

I only go into bright sunlight during lunch time when i enjoy the movie while having my meal.
The display is almost black. My previous phones LG G4, ZUK Z1, Moto X Style, even Note 4 or 3 has no issues.
I paid SGD835 for the phone and it sucks.
Enjoy man since you don't have that problem.
Still no fix for this annoying issue?

All phones from any manufactures with snapdragon 810 have an overheating problem (you can thank Qualcomm for that)...since the Z5p uses that SoC as well, this is a protection implemented by Sony so the processor doesn't fry your phone, your phone will get hot already watching a movie as you do under normal conditions, the situation will get even more steamy in full sun (on a hot day, it's fine when it's cooler outside)...the screen brightness is reduced to cool down the phone when it becomes too hot...
With that said there is a way change the value of the minium screen brightness (if you're rooted) to a higher number... If you search there is a thread about this in the Z5p forum already where someone posted where to find what to change...never tried myself by the way as you permanently change that value to some higher so it will be too bright the rest of the time and frankly I think that it will do more harm than good anyway...
Just let your phone cool down and you're good to go again...

Thanks for the tip.
Because of those pros and cons, sony lacks behind. Sadly I am already using iphone 7 plus and there is no such a problem on camera and display.
Still keep my Z Ultra for fun though

Whatever floats your boat
If anyone have issue with this(Eveyone should), I have file that let you use 100% of screen brightness, of cause it's adjustable.
Basically let you have full control without Thermal limit kicks in.
Only thing is that the file can not be modified without ROOT...
Let me know
It's call thermal-engine.conf, all you have to do is change all the numbers under "backlight" to 255(Max value).
It works great, I've been using it as is for more than one year.
It's located Root/system/etc/thermal-engine.conf

Had the same problem, at least think so since I was never able to recover by cooling the Z5 so I am not sure.
Then, I installed Lux Auto Brightness.
The last 72 hours are much better and I was in the sun though not sure if the phone was overheating.
In settings I set Min brightness to 40%, linked ambient light of 0 lux to 60% brightness and let the app do its thing.
So far so good.
Let me know what you think.

never tried Lux Auto Brightness...I'll give it a try, but the screen dimming only happens to me on rare occasions while outside under a hot sun, I'll install that app and see next time around when I meet those conditions
Recently, my screen starts to have some narrow trapezoid dark marks along the left and right sides when the screen brightness drops below 40% (like 28% set by Auto Brightness). Sometimes there is also some color bleeding (from the icons and background below) at the top edge when the dark marks appear. When the brightness is 40% or above, they disappear. I suspect it has something to do with the PWM that controls the brightness. Does anyone has similar experience and any suggested ways to fix it? I am considering to send it to LG warranty repair. Thanks.
It's unrooted and on stock ROM, right ?
you could try a factory reset and see if it changes anything ...
Was the phone particularly hot at the point in time ?
Are you gaming ... like a lot ?

It is a T-Mobile, so no root and stock rom.
I may try a factory reset and see how it goes.
No, it was not very hot when it happened. It was at normal operating temperature.
No gaming. I don't even have any games installed. Those are not burn-in, as they are not in a fixed position. If I adjust the brightness, the dark marks will shift their location with the brightness %, so I suspect it is the PWM that causes it.

Could very well be, I'm however also thinking about SoC and Die (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_(integrated_circuit)) issues [hardware defect]

I agree with you. I did a factory reset and the issue remains, so it is likely hardware failure. I sent it to LG Warranty repair and see what they say.
LG diagnostic finding is "Display screen is discolored", so it appears to be the OLED screen that is defective and is covered by warranty. The "LCD (Main,Sub)" is replaced. I didn't know there is a "sub" LCD.
I received my phone back, and it seems I get a new phone. It is wrapped in plastic film. Thumbs up for LG warranty.
Hey,
Since some weeks I have a very annoying Problem with my Redmi Note 5 (global) always shut down (completely off, no restart) as soon when I am out side or the ambient temperature is getting low like for example -4°c / 24,8 Fahrenheit. It completely turns off and sometimes doesn't want to turn on again for quite a while and also don't take a charge. The temperature should normally not be a big deal for a phone and my girlfriend also owns a rn 5 global and she never had such a problem. I already did a reflash of miui and also now did a clean flash of Xiaomi EU rom as both didn't fixed it I also tried a different kernel now (basickernel by sgspluss) in combination with Xiaomi EU rom (phone was always rooted with magisk) but nothing helps. There is no massive battery drain and when I use a app to read CPU / battery temperature they seem also be okay. I have really no idea what could cause it I really hope someone here has an idea.
There are no Xiaomi service centers in my country.

All phones are not meant to be use under low temperature, that's written on their papers, that no one's read, kkkk. So under very low temperature and high temperature, the phones shut down, so be cool, that's not a problem related to phone, is related to temperature. Just keep him warm, and will not shut down.

Between +2 and -4°c is not really a temperature for a phone to trigger temperature protection. Also non of my coworkers and even the phone from my girlfriend which is also a Redmi note 5 shut down at this temperature.

Then it seems I'm the lucky one without any ghost effect issues, I'm in the 4th month of use now and I not had any serious issue yet (Including not any image retention/ghost effect)
