Disassembly / cracking open HTC One x - HTC One X

Hello
some videos showing how to open the HOX
this site has a nice photos how to: http://kamolinsh.com/instrukciya-kak-razobrat-htc-one-x-foto
other site with photos: http://fashion.pconline.com.cn/mobile/1204/2754053.html

I don't know if it's just me, but I for sure wouldn't dare to crack open my HOX using brute force like that.

The back cover, cames with out the SPEAKER.
you need to remove the speaker from original back cover, and put it on the new back cover

Would not want to open mine up! either by force or with a tool! but nice to know it can be done if absolutely necessary!! Nice post thanks

I tried to open a faulty one i got from eBay, after removing the back case its such a pain to even remove the motherboard, and even harder to put it back
+when re-assembling you have to plug connectors to both sides of the motherboard
Oh and if anybody opens it up...as soon as you open the back case, the power button and volume button will fall out. Dont loose them! (Also note the power button has a certain orientation)

Hello, it looks like there is some tools to do it more gently ...
Here is one, a "sucker" to remove the screen easily :
http://www.maisondugsm.com/a/produi...ventouse_ecran_et_tactile_pour_htc_one_x.html
Good thing to know that it's possible to open the One X and change case or even the battery ...

i didnt but the 2 videos and the photos,
you can do it, be gentle

Worries me a bit with how easy it was to pop it open! Will have to be more careful...

i'm thinking of switching covers from black to a white one.
a couple of questions;
1) The camera lens glass, is that sticking out of the ring? or is the ring around the glass higher than the glass? (Sorry, i know exactly how to explain this in dutch, not in english)
At the moment my camera-lens glass is sticking out a little bit and it allready is getting scratched up.
2) Do you get the volume / power buttons with the new cover or do you have to re-use the old buttons?

Hi Bro,
would like to know whether do you need to apply any adhesive or glue when assembling th HOX? is it lose without gluing? as what I understand is that there are some use of glue to hold the HOX tighly. Please advise.
Cheers!

ok after more than an hour of taking pictures and editing im finally ready to upload them and be done with this. geeze you cooks must have some patience! my hats off to ya...so here we go...hope this helps atleast one person out there to make it worth my time.
ok to start we are going to need a t6 screwdriver, a prying tool a percision phillips screwdriver. (I ADVISE YOU USE A ANTI-STATIC WRISTBAND TOO)

so flip your dash over, remove the battery cover, take the battery out, and set off to the side. locate the rubber pieces from the picture below and remove them with your prying tool.
this next part is VERY important. note the void sticker over the top of the right screw. by opening your case you void any warrenty that may be active. just use you t6 to remove both of the screw (note they are silver)
now we only have four more screws to remove to get the back panel off, they are circled in red below, use your t6 again here. these screws are black
with all the screws out of the back panel you now need to take your prying tool and put in between the back panel and the chrome piece on the dash, if this is your first time it will be tight. dont be afraid to use a little force. (on the real tight spots is where it latches, that where you need to pry)
now comes the part i found a little different between my two dash's. the one made in china is the one i used in this guide (i have included a picture of the other one to show the differences). go ahead and remove the back panel. on my china dash the wire to the battery thing was NOT connected to the back panel and on my other dash it WAS connected to the back panel.
i didnt circle it but in the second picture you can see a wire going to the back panel and in the first picture you dont see that. in the next step you can see it nice and snug under the connector.
now locate the connection from the picture below and lift it out of the socket. easy to do just use your nail on the end and lift up.
the circled red connector below holds that cabel on, just use your nails and lift straight up on this and set it off to the side. i sat it in the spot on the back panel that it was on with my other dash
with thoes done we move on to the next spot, with again is circled in red below. use your prying tool, as pictured, to open the latch up.
here i used my nails and removed the "cable" by using the two tiny tabs on the side
the next thing we need to disconnect is below. again use your prying tool to open the latch like you did before.
once you have it open use remove the "cable" by using the circled tab
now the we almost have the mobo off. soo use the t6 to remove the screw, this is also a silver screw but, as noted, their is a difference in size.
the last thing holding the mobo on is two clips, and guess what? their pictured below...
\
i just used my nail to hold one back a little and lifted the mobo out and set it aside. ( the picture shows the "front" of it)
the antenna just lifts off, but you dont need to remove it
and this is what you should see now
were now ready to remove that chrome piece, note that the two circled "cables" go THROUGH the chrome piece.
i used the prying tool to remove the chrome piece, it came off really easy. hopefully it does the same for you
and heres a picture showing the "cables" that go through the chrome piece
set the chrome piece off to the side, and were almost done here
now its time to remove that lcd, which is so easly broken for most people. see the circled peice on the back? that grounds it out, just peel it off. and remove the lcd. i just put my hand over it and flipped the phone over. it came right out and i set it off to the side
now we can see the finish line
their are 3 screws to remove to get the keyboard pcb board off. use a percision phillips screwdriver (the one pictured in my first post is just a small phillips, it worked just fine)
set it off to the side and the keypads will just fall out if you turn the phone over
and thats it. i did not include how to remove the jogger bar, i have not done soo, no need to. if you do please take pictures to add to the guide.
please let me know what you think. i have included all the pictures in a zip file, they are a little better quality.
Thanks xDD

can i replace the len of the camera?

Hi exists any way of remove, replace the len of the camera and put other? because my len is scratched and i dont know what to do!!
Ty
firstly: what device are you using?
i know you are using xperia ion because you stated that in another question
possible but my question to you:
are you good enough of a user to actually replace the lens itself?
there is a very detailed unveiling of the xperia internals that was created near the beginning of this device
but will you risk buying the separate lens and replacing it? or will you send it to the sony and if they mess up you get a new phone ?
(not doubting your skills or anything, simply asking you to rethink your process)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798192
the thread i was talking about in case you do wish to do it yourself but you need to find the exact lens yourself ( too lazy too find it for you xD)

I had this problem myself and i fixed it using a lens from another phone(I wasn't using my N95 so i took it from that one), the best solution is to buy the MIDDLE plate(it can be seen on the link 424aca posted, picture 4) The middle plate has the lens, they don't sell them separately(I looked, couldn't find it). The process itself is very easy, you can follow the ion dissasembly video somebody posted(look it up). All you need is torx t5(or t6 cant remember exactly) and phillips screwdrivers, plus a prying tool(I used an old credit card) to remove the top and bottom covers and remove the back plate. The middle plate has several screws you need to take out before removing.

The back cover doesn't have the plastic lens, the middle plate does, and that is what got scratched. you can test it yourself, remove the back and middle plates and take a picture, if you get a clear image then the plastic lens on the middle plate is the one that's scratched.

Open it again. At this point no one here can tell you what exactly went wrong. May be you forgot to remove the plastic peel that comes with the new lenses. By the way, why did you do it all yourself ? HTC could have replaced it for no charge ! All I suggest is to open the device again, and check whether you removed the plastic peel for both the lenses. Without closing the rear housing/panel, launch the camera app and check whether the issue persists. 220 fahrenheit is okay for a short timeframe. Can you send some snaps of your device along with the camera module ? It would be helpful to the people who visit the thread. After all this fails, try flashing the stock rom if you're running a custom rom. :good:

HTC said since i HTC dev unlocked no go and it would cost 130+ and i would have my soff removed. So i said screw that and got the housing and the grills. I am pretty sure the plastic was removed as the camera app now shutters and glitches out as it never did that before and i doubt a plastic color lense would cause that. I will detail pics when i crack it open again to check if i just might ave pulled back the cameras connection cable just looked on ebay 25 bucks for a new oem i may snag it. The front cam works fine i just should have used a micro cloth to polish the old one vs dremel ha my lesson

It's black yes, but they have different textures. On the Obsidian Black version, it has the White OPO's Baby Skin texture.
Also if I was hallucinating then I would be seeing fingerprints on the Sandstone black...
...which is technically impossible on basic usage.
The texturing on that looks exactly like the sandstone black. At an angle, you can see oily smudges on the sandstone black cover.
I ordered it just now, hope it's legit!

Oh right. possibly, we'll,see.
Ordered it from user Just4U aliexpress on Dec 5th, and got it today on the 22nd. Not bad. It feels super smooth, buttons work just like the stock back, has no added thickness and the fit is perfect. Installation is simple, just followed the included instructions: remove SIM card tray, use a 3.5mm jack as leverage, use the blue tool to slide along the sides (except the SIM card side since it's fragile), pull it off, pop the new one back in and you're good to go. It comes with smooth side nano and micro SIM card trays as well. Buttons and NFC are attached to the back.
Visually it looks 99% the same. I thought they sent me the wrong one at first. I attached some pictures and tried a few times to get differing shots, but in the end it's futile. I'll let you figure out which one is which in the pictures although the markings on the back will give it away.
Is it worth the $30? For most probably not, but I work in a hospital and I want to be able to wipe it clean after every shift. The sandstone back did not allow that, so it's worth it to me.

Bumper case advice to keep phone's screen attached

http://imgur.com/a/fe2JV
My phone has a screen problem which you can see in the image. The screen is not attached to body. When I push that side of screen with my hand it goes normal, so I think it is a adhesive problem. I need screen to stay steady because back button is hard to press in this condition.
So is there any bumper case which can hold screen attached to body so I can use it without any problem?
If nothing else, this case should hold your phone together. Other cases may work too, though it is difficult to tell if the small lip they have over the screen would be enough.

Dang brother, that looks bad. Very sorry to see this. Can I ask is this the result of dropping the device or this happened on its own? It doesn't look like it has any damage to it, have you tried contacting hTC?
As for cases, I prefer the thinner ones.
The Spigen Thin Fit has treated me very well on my hTC M9, and then now on my hTC 10. They do a good job I think with providing a nice thin product that actually does prevent small dings and what not (my 10 is still brand new looking and has been in this case with no screen protector since release day, but everyone's use is different). Color choice I wish they had black but the gunmetal looks great.
If I may recommend this:

Send it in with UhOh protection, get a new one
That's pretty bad.. Why haven't you RMA'd your device or at the very least contacted HTC?
As far as I can see from that picture, no clear signs of a drop either so...it should be a clear case of manufacturing defect.
Try tech 21, it has a lip around the phone. Good case too
I have seen a video about "disassembling?" on youtube. They just warmed the display up with some device, in order to reattach it. Maybe you want to have a look at such video to get an idea.
+1 for RMA before it gets wrecked fully.
Especially since i think it has some very nice degree of water resistance and dust resistance, when put together properly. You should let a professional take care of, to get the best result.

That'll be a heat gun mate, it'll also ruin most the glue sticking it down.. Probably not a good idea to do this yourself, if someone else has changed the screen out then RMA might not be allowed. If it's just gone this way by itself then Yea RMA for sure.

True words from this angle
I would not hesitate to send it in. I would rather send it to HTC instantly. Probably i would not even ask a forum about such

Thought you called me an angel for a moment there
Definitely send it in mate, if this has happened on it's own it's obviously a terrible defect, more than likely the battery has swollen, or the glue has come away or the phone has bent, or a combination of either.
Either way, not your fault and not a good sign, bearing in mind that this lump is a £600 phone! Not cheap and certainly not something i'd go dabbling with unless it was a last resort.
I stripped down a One X to do a replacement screen swap, ended up snapping a flex, and i'm a careful guy
So if you ask me send it back.

Oh sorry, this is lack of english skill. I thought in my mother language while translating. I was already told to better stop this. Anyhow, intentionally i wanted to agree on your point of view.
Yeah, better do not void the warranty by manually trying to repair it.
