boost in call volume so you can hear people louder? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hi, what is the best way to go about increasing the speaker volume when on a phone call? i can harldley hear anyone with max volume..thanks

There is an app called volume+ on the market. We had this issue back on the Mesmerize with CM7. That made it alot better to deal with. It can boost speaker and headphone volume as well as incall volume. There is a paid and free version. Try the free first.

i tried volume +, but the in call settings only allow you to change the volume increments, not actually boost the volume....as far as I know of..

Ringer Volume OK, System Sound NOT OK

I'm on 4.0.1, build ITL41F . My ringer volume/notification volume is ok. But my system sound (screen clicks, keyboard clicks, lock/unlock clicks) can barely be heard. I've tried 3rd party sound managers and increased system sound to the max, but still can hardly hear the sounds. Anyone with the same problem or know of a fix ?
I use the external speaker to listen to podcasts while doing work around the house... I swear the GN's speaker is half the volume of the Droid's.
It's a hardware thing. The speaker on all Samsung phones are weak.
I dont think thats true. The sgs2 has an extremely loud speaker.
My SGS2 too has very loud speakers. So i'm still having this system sound volume problem with my GN. Again, ringer/notification is ok, just system sound clicks..etc..

I dont know what volume managers youve used before, but you need to root and use volume+ to set it to +8 or +9

You don't need root for volume +

I think the system sounds are meant to be faint in ICS,It makes sense,I wouldn't want the clicks & what not to be any louder although having control over the system sound would be nice so if you did want it louder that would be possible

Is there any app that would allow an un-rooted gnex to have louder volume over a wired headset for phone calls?
Very very very simple solution. Get the free Equalizer app from the market. Problem solved.

No you do not! You need root only to modify on call volume which on this phone is fine to begin with.

Equilizer app does increase the system volume ! Thx !
I looked thru the kernel code and could not find any audio driver to tweak the audio levels. On the nexus one you could tweak value in the kernel to boost all volumes. No such luck with this kernel though.
I'll stick with equalizer app for now I guess. I'll try volume+ too.

Galaxy Nexus Speaker Volume

Ok so I switched from S2 to Gnexus. And alot of things are lacking when it comes to hardware but the most significant is speaker volume. Is there a way to tweak or mod the speaker volume for notification and incoming call ringtones. Perhaps an app? Thanks.
volume+ in the market or visit the devs site for the free full version.
The free version from market doesn't work but the one on the devs site does.
Once installed change your volume to +9 or +10 and enjoy the speaker the way it should have come.

Is Google going to release a fix, or is it a hardware limitation of the speaker?
I read Volume+ does increase the volume but then the sound quality isn't that great.

Equalizer app is a superb option free in the market and doubles the speaker volume. Just max out all bands.

it works fine for me, no distortions whatsoever.

anyone been able to raise IN CALL volume?

so volume+ works great for me. i have it at +8 and sometimes up to +10 when i'm in the car, and i can hear the notifications just fine.
but the in call volume, even on the speaker, is still really low to the point where if i'm on the highway i can't hear someone even if they're on speaker unless i hold it to my ears.
probably going to get a bluetooth speaker for my car soon, but until then i want to just boost it.
i know volume+ has this boost incall volume by editing the build.prop but i have no idea what to do, and obviously don't want to screw anything up. so has anyone done that, or does anyone have another way of boosting the in call volume for both speakerphone and regular speaker.
Extremely interested in this myself.
I tried doing it with volume+ but it only ended up making it worse.
If anyone has done it successfully, please post how.

What did you set yours to? The choices are 0 - 100.
bumping this to hopefully get an answer.
bumping this again because i'd really love to actually be able to hear people when i'm not in a quiet room.
Did you try volume+ beta? It is a lot better than the one on the market. You can find it in the themes and apps section.

I have a low volume only in some calls, the other is strong and clear. It's as if the phone, sometimes, forget your volume settings and we must tap the volume keys for to remind it. I have fw XXKLA2 rooted and it's the same as XXKK1.
i wonder if theres a service code available like the i9000 has that you up the volume..
I used 2.3.6 I8150DXKL1 DXLA2, rooted.
Then installed volume+ (free on market) set to volume level +4, afterwards installed volume+ v1.7.4.1 (download from 4shared) set to volume level +15.
Yes, feel better
thanks mate ,i'll try that..

But Volume+ doesn't allow you to adjust the volume of the earpiece capsule. The "speaker" refers to the external speaker.
this app has 3 options , speaker, headset and bluetooth so the 'earpiece' isnt adjustable...
any other ideas anyone..
maybe amplified earphones?
well i've tried the app and it doesnt seem to do anything on my phone , the in call volume is still low...
surely someone knows the service code hack so i can adjust the volume ...
[btw the i9000 code does not work]
update...
i've tried a 2.3.5 rom and all the 2.3.6 roms and all the de-toxed roms and still the in call volume is low..tried all the apps on the market with no change..
can anyone help with a code or a method of increasing the volume otherwise my 'w' will have to be sold and an iphone brought..
You can try this, it now supports in call volume , its stil experimental, but it wont brick your phone
http://androidaudiohacks.com/?p=158#comments
And ofcourse take the Dropbox version its free
thanks gerard ,i'll try it..
app installed and not a lot of difference...i'm just wondering if when i had the phone unlocked [by a market stall] that this unlocking made the ear speaker low in volume, any thoughts?
does anyone have an update for this problem? I am still having the low in call volumes. are there any dialer codes for this phone to tinker the system settings?

[HOW TO] You don't need Volume+!

I turned my phone to full volume and played a sound in an application and noticed that it wasn't THAT loud.
So I opened the SETTINGS, Sound, Volumes, where there were three sliders, one of which is labelled "Music video, games & other media. The default postion of slider was about 33%. So I ramped it up to 100%, and guess what? The applications sounds were three times louder! The phone speakers are now LOUD.
Sorry if this has been reported before, but I hadn't noticed it so I thought others might benefit from reading this.
up all the way and too quiet for me without volume+
the default ringtones are far more quiet than the older ones btw, but volume+ helps.
All the 3 at max for me and still wasn't enough. volume+ did it for me!

The volume rocker by default only changes the phone (i.e. ringtone/notification) volume. When media is playing, the behavior of the volume rocker changes to control the media volume...
Ah, thanks for the replies with the more extensive explanations. So Volume+ is effective beyond the max volume.

Most of people's complaints about the speaker volume is in regards to notifications and ringers.
I made my own ringtone and amplified it using audacity. Its incredibly loud.
volume plus is the only thing that worked
now are most of you using volume+ with the stock rom or?

Stock rom here, but i and many others use equalizer by smarter apps, its excellent. Both apps though tie into the system audio api.
In most of my experiences volume is always an issue... in fact the only phone I know to be loud enough is the iPhone... Did Apple patent noise?
Same for me, not enough without Volume+
I cant get volume+ working With Codename rom and franco's kernel

I may be just bias, but my OG Droid put any and all iPhone's to shame regarding loudness of volume.
With volume+ my Gnex puts every other phone to shame

No noise patent I don't think - at least not yet. The iPhone was built from the iPod though, so they no doubt wanted to emphasize music from day 1.
That said, my Vibrant with Voodoo sound could get painfully loud. But only after installing voodoo.

I think so, but volume+ is not the only app you can use to get a louder speaker. I use a free and very basic equalizer with almost the same effect and with 1/6 of the size.
If you need more than that, volume+ is recommended and It's a very small app too (86k free version and 157k full).
One last thing: be careful. Start with a low volume or you can damage your speaker.
The iphone is far from being loud "enough." There are many phones that are louder, and can be made even louder with either voodoo or volume+
