[Q] Phone not ringing for some contacts - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

My phone is not ringing for some contacts. For instance, if I call my cell phone from my work phone, my cell phone will not ring IF I have my work phone number stored in my contact list. No vibrate, no missed call indication, no nothing. But, if I delete my work number from my contact list, the phones rings as it should. I can get calls from some other contacts in my contact list and the phone rings as it should. But not my work number. So, is there some app or something that I may have set to keep my work phone number from ringing through?

Google Voice

I have the option to pick 10 friends which I can call without burning up my minutes with Verizon. I wonder what would happen if I put my google voice number to the list, and start making/receiving calls from now on with my google voice number. Will I be able to call within the US and Canada for free?

If you google how to do it then it should work, but might only work incoming or outgoing calls, not both. Most likely incoming I think. When you USED to dial out, it would always dial the same number, but now, it dials a different number to dial out and isnt always the same. Google it and I am sure you can find a tutorial somewhere.
Add your GV# to FnF then get Flex Dialer Pro from the Market. Once setup it will call out using your GV#. That way all calls coming & going are free.

It works for outgoing calls if you have the old google voice apk. the new one on the market uses multiple numbers instead of connecting to the same server everytime. here you it is. this is the one I use it always dials out the same number http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7628419/com.google.android.apps.googlevoice.apk Do NOT UPDATE!

This is correct for outgoing calls.
For incoming calls, you can add your google voice number to your F&F and then set Settings -> Calls -> Caller ID (incoming) to "Display my google voice number."
You then lose caller ID, but the calls are free.
More hassle than its worth imo.
Using the older .apk you'll have to add 2 numbers to your FnF. One for outgoing calls & your GV#. The outgoing number does sometimes change depending on your location as far as I can tell. If you set it up as I suggested earlier you'll use only your GV# in FnF.

Call ID not showing up on incoming call

I am sure this is caused by an app but not sure when it started...
Has anyone experienced when a call comes in while on a call that the call id does not match to the contact on the phone?
If I am on a call and wife calls from "Home" it will not show HOME just the number...it happens about 4/5 times...
anyone???
I have been having this as well.
I think your description is a little off as well - the caller ID is working, but it is not matching the caller ID number to the phonebook entry. Mine is not happening very frequently, about 1 out of 10 calls, but it's still very annoying.
sometimes ur book has the +1 country code, but the incoming doesnt.
although my phone recognizes right either.

Too Many Rings Google Voice Voicemail on AT&T Phone

I installed Google Voice on my AT&T HTC One X and installed the Google Voice App. I disabled the AT&T Visual Voicemail and AT&T Messages apps.
I add the cell number to my Google Voice account. I went through the process to enter the code to forward voicemail on my phone to my Google Voice number.
** I selected the option in Advanced Settings for the cell number to "go directly to Voicemail" in Google voice **
However, when I call my cell, it rings 5 times, then forwards to Google Voice, then rings 5 times before the Voicemail picks up, so it takes 10 or 11 rings to get to my voicemail!
I used a separate phone and called my Google Voice number directly and it takes 5 rings before voicemail picks up.
It seems that Google Voice for some reason isn't recognizing my cell as a forwarded to voicemail call and is treating it like a normal call.
Help!
You might want to ask this in the AT&T One X forum, this one is for Tegra 3.

I think I figured it out. Since AT&T doesn't have "tight" GV integration, like Verizon, to activate you are essentially just forwarding the call. When the call comes in to GV, the number is not the number of the cell, but the number of the person calling, so GV doesn't know if this is a direct call or a forwarded call that was unanswered from the cell.
There's a simple solution but it only works because I'm not using my GV phone number for incoming calls. Just turn the Do Not Disturb feature on in GV and now all calls go direct to voicemail.
Moderator: You can move this to AT&T forum if you want.

This works alright but GV does not pick up voicemail when Do Not Disturbe is turned on....at least this is what I am finding.

Question Any way to disable incoming calls on LTE version?

I have my eSIM configured in my Pixel Watch LTE, and all is working fine so far. However, from time to time I'd look to have my little son wear the watch, when he is out and about alone by himself, so he can call me in case he gets lost, or I can find his location. Generally, this works, but the problem is that the watch also rings when I receive calls: The eSIM is a MultiSIM of my Vodafone contract, so it has the same number as mine in my main phone. Of course I don't want my son to receive my phone calls on the watch.
Is there any way of disabling incoming phone calls, or the the notifications / vibrations of them? Or, ideally, disabling the signaling of any incoming call except if it comes from a certain number (like my own landline)?

I haven't received the watch yet, but it should have Do Not Disturb settings which you should be able to configure as you wish. For instance, your son could receive calls from Starred contacts only, while all the others are blocked.
Edit: See here
" Do Not Disturb: Turn off all notifications and silence incoming calls. Press and hold to customize exceptions for priority and repeat callers, alarms, and media sounds. "
That's the perfect solution, thank you very much!

Question DND allow only phone calls

Just picked up the 11 and I am trying to set it up as my older phone (Note 10) regarding DND (do not disturb).
With my old setup, I could silence everything except phone calls. With the new phone, it seems that phone calls are tied to messages and filtered by all contacts, favorites or none.
Putting Phone and Phone calls as app exceptions will silence calls received if for the People section I select None, and selecting Contacts in People will permit group Whatsapp messages etc. which is really annoying.
Does anyone know how I can allow only phone calls (without regard to who's calling) and block everything else?
