On my default browser on my gn I constantly need to download things but it seems whenever I download things like .zip files pictures or anything off the default browser it tells me it was unsuccessful and I have to retry to download it about 8 times before it will work. Advice?

Clear data/cache from download manager. Try a different browser if that doesn't work.

Hello I'm sorry if this has already been brought up but I was unable to find it and the search button is not functioning on my old computer.
Everytime I attempt to download from XDA (of course I am signed in) I immediately get a download unsuccessful message. I have tried Opera Mini, Dolphin HD browser and also have cleaned all cache, history, and data from browsers.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks Jeremy
Get the app "Download all files"
It'll let you download the files

What I do is hit menu then more and then hit browser and select opera. It will open what u are looking at into the browser then u should be able to download what u need. I have the same problem.

That's only needed for the stock browser. He is using opera and dolphin.

Well I have this issue from all 3 browsers. I will try both suggestions anyhow. Just can't believe I need an app to download files that my evo did without blinking. Kinda BS.
Thanks guys

+1 for download all files. fixes the issue no matter what the browser is
I'm new to the galaxy section so give me a little break. My previous 2 devices never had this issue.
How to you enable the phone to download files(any files) through your 4g network or even wiring?
I cannot seem to be able to download ANYTHING to my phone regardless of wifi or 4g.
I can download from the market which works fine. Its only downloads.from like multi upload and stuff.

I've had the issue as well. I tried many different sites. Typically megaupload worked for me but not on this device. I have no workaround that I have found yet and can suggest.
Download Astro file manager from the market its free, then open it, go under file manager/ then scroll the top tabs right to "preferences" and put a check mark next to enable browser downloads. Works for me.

Thanks! I'll try this out!
I use "Download all files" from the market because astro didn't work for me. Give it a try if you find yourself in my situation.

Opera Mobile is also better about downloading files.
I noticed this issue with the browser too. I installed FireFox mobile and it works great for downloading from Multiupload!
yea i had the same problem. it has something to do with the browser, now i am using dolphin Browser HD and no problems i can download from any website i want. so just download another browser from market.
try dolphin HD. works amazing
Dolphin HD is much slower than Opera Mobile and has trouble with sites like fileserve.

I've been downloading files normally from mediafire with no problems. Since yesterday, whenever I open a link to mediafire, Chrome says that there was an error accessing the server, and the stock browser just doesn't load.
I tried immediately after with a laptop, and everything was fine with MF.
Any ideas to what might be causing this?
Thanks

With the stock browser. Hit the menu button in the action bar and select load desktop site. That works for me.

Adobe has stopped allowing downloads for Flash Player on all devices running Jelly Bean, including the Nexus 7. This APK has been tested and works great on the Nexus 7 so far with 4.2.1.
APK File: install_flash_player_ics (1).apk - 4.49 MB
Awesome. Thanks.

couple questions...
1. so will this allow flash to be used on chrome?
1a. if it doesnt work with chrome, what's the benefit of a standalone apk versus getting a browser that can use flash?
2. do you have to be rooted for this to work?
thanks!

1. No, chrome does not support flash.
2. You need the flash apk to be able to use flash in a browser that supports flash I.e. dolphin browser
3. No, you do not. Just make sure you go to setting, security, and click the unknown sources check box before you try to install the app.

You can't download it straight to your tablet. You have to extract it on a computer then transfer it to your Nexus.

Theres no default file browser installed so get something like Astro:
These are the instructions I followed, can't remember if I used the APK linked on that site or not, so to be safe use the one linked above.
PS : This five minute spam rule is annoying. (but can see why its here).
i installed the flash apk but when i try to view a flash movie it crashes the browser (opera mini, maxthon, and dolphin hd)
thanks works awesome on my nexus 7 and on my galaxy nexus
top notch
This worked great! Thank you

Thanks for the apk. You can download it straight to your tablet if it was not gziped and just install it with a file manager... On another note, I didn't really see the point of putting it back on my tablet after downloading it to my PC since I already had the sdk installed.
Code:
adb install -r com.adobe.flashplayer-3f0d57a34bf0204acb2f9b310aa37ac7.apk
did the trick and installed it just fine for me..
Worked like it should!

Thanks, OP!
Now if we could get a working AOSP Browser for the N7 because I'm not too fond of Dolphin and the other 3rd party browsers.
Cheers,
Kermee
If you are using Dolphin as a Flash solution Do Not update to 8.6 which just came out. It completely removes the ability to use Flash for Jelly Bean even if you have it side loaded. It gives a message that they will no longer be supporting it for Android 4.1+

A lot of times when i download things it downloads then normally. But when it finishes it will most of the time be unsuccessful so i have to repeatedly download things and it blows when it's a Rom or something. Anyone else having this issue? Way to fix this? Running aokp jb build 4

Provide some more information? Which browser or what other program do you use for downloading? I remember Chrome had problems in the past...

go to manage apps, download manager, now clear its data. that should fix it for you.
I did change browsers and it seems like it's not having the same problem. I also did the clear cache on download manager, thank ya all. I'll report if there are any more issues

I have this problem on chrome and stock, downloads always work perfectly from dolphin though.

Even i have this problem on chrome. I use firefox for downloads.
It is really painful after you wait for the timer to expire and enter the unreadable captha and then face unsuccessful download.
