I would assume you would get that error because the S3 isnt even out yet and their s-voice servers probably arent even fully operational yet, plus S-voice may rely on hardware that only the galaxy s3 has, so it may not work with our devices anyway. Kinda like siri and the iphone 4s
But this is just an assumption, i may be wrong and anyone feel free to correct me

Samsung has blocked the severs so it'll only work on the Galaxy S III.
What about the signed s voice.apk? I got that to install reading on the thread in the apps section but many fc's. It pretty much makes calls that's it. Any work arounds?
have you tried either editing your build.prop and changing your phone info to match the SG3 (GT-I9300) or trying the modded s voice apk both the instructions on how to mod the build prop and the modded s voice apk are available on here...
make sure you dont have any other version of it Vlingo, voice commands etc..
im running it and its not 100% smooth but it works.
also Samsung blocked the app for any phone that isnt the SGS3 after they found out of the leak (that info is posted all over) thats why u getting the network issue just do the above and it will work
how do i edit my build.prop, and what do i edit it to?

For starters, HOLY HELL does this forum have the mother of all 'search ya n00b' features built in! Dang impressive!!
Second, being a long time stalker, and due to those previously mentioned features, I do not have the rights to post in the thread for this ROM. Thus I am posting my question here. I just recently installed the Incredibly Re-Engineered ROM v2.20 on my Inc. Out of all of the hacking that I have done to this poor phone, this ROM has given it the biggest improvement. However, I can't figure out how to access voicemails on it. The dev said that he fixed something with voicemails in this release but my not-so-smart-phone doesn't seem to know that.
I know that the Inc uses a native app instead of VZ's visual app and I am guessing that it's the one named Visual VM 1.13 that Titanium is telling me I am missing (but doesn't give me an option to restore). Anyone know the secret to getting this to work?
I'm not quite sure what you mean... Are you looking for a Visual Voicemail app, or are you unable to get to your voicemail at all? Have you tried dialing *86
Yeah, I could just call to get my messages but that would be too easy.
The issue is that the native app that downloads voicemails and plays them appears to be awol. When I get a voicemail VZ sends me a text stating "You have 1 unheard Visual Voice Mail messages. Please select the Visual VM icon to reinstall." However, you can't just download VZ's app because it will tell you that your phone already has an app built in for handling voicemails... except for my phone which now appears to be missing it.
Oh and before anyone asks, yes I did wipe the phone before installing the new ROM with ROM Manager.
Have you tried changing the voicemail settings to what you want to use to handle your voicemails? Menu > Settings > Call Settings
If you already have then maybe try pushing the apk through adb?
There is a flashover to 2.2 that is supposed to fix the VM indicator.
Absent that, there is also a flashable zip posted in the ROM and IncReEng. mods thread.

I did not even know about that setting. I have now set it to 'My Carrier' since I am not using Google Voice but unfortunately that didn't fix it.

I did perform that flashover. Maybe I will wait until the updated ROM is posted tonight and see if that fixes it... otherwise I might have to go hunting for the zips you are referencing.

You can click on the little paperclip next to the rom thread title and see all the .zip attachments that have been posted in the thread. This way you don't have to go searching through the whole thread to find the files you are looking for.
I just wanted to update this in case anyone else is searching for an answer to this problem.
So I did an update to v2.3 of the Re-Engineered ROM and that didn't get my voicemail back. And I actually lost some more functionality. I'm not in any way diss'n this ROM though. The issue is just that it is a seriously customized piece of art and maybe a bit overkill for a phone that needs to occasionally be a phone!
Since I tried Skyraider in the past and had some syncing issues, I decided to load up Redemptive rEVOlution this time. So far everything is running smooth and it appears that my voicemail and everything else is working as it should.
BTW, I should mention that I work in the Quality field because I have a natural gift for breaking things. So my issues may not be typical for all users.
I believe the problem you are having with VVM is because re-ingeneered is 100% evo framework. Sprint does not use VVM and therefore not coded for it.
That being said, google voice offers the same features without the added fees from Verizon.
Hi - I am the dev for PhoneLeash ... and one of our I9000 users is getting the "your device is not compatible" error. PhoneLeash has gotten installed on most every device (including those SMS-but-no-telephony Galaxy Tabs, and even WiFi devices) so this is frustrating.
If any of you I9000 owners can please take a minute to try to install it, it'll be helpful to know if this is a device issue or app issue or market issue. Its a useful app too btw forwards SMS etc to email, you can reply, GPS location!
Thank you!
well it is possible for me...
Same here. I am able to use it on my Sgs I9000 rooted.
Thanks folks ... meanwhile the user who was having troubles got his issue resolved as well. I had sent him the APK for a previous PhoneLeash release (it just happened to be lying around in my Inbox), which installed fine, but now he was able to upgrade to the latest version directly from the Android Market! Huh! But whatever the reason, hope its another tool to conquer the "not compatible" problem.

Sorry to hear that ... if can spare a few mins to help me debug further, can you email me at support A T gearandroid DOT SEE OH EM I could try the same method (give you an APK to an earlier release and see if the market then lets you upgrade)?

I tried Jelly beans on my Galaxy Nexus couple of days and paired it with my BlueAnt S4 (Bluetooth speaker phone). Whenevr I tried to make calls after pairing it with BlueAnt, it will not use Voice dialer but was using Google speak tool. Which is very poor in understanding your commands. Where as voice dialer in ICS was very superior.

You can use cyberon voice commander from play store but you must first disable google voice. It will give you very reliable voice dialing but completely shuts down all of the google voice commands as well as google now. For me, I chose cyberon but voice dialing is a very high priority. I'm pretty sure that someone will come out with a fix that will let 3rd-party voice dialers coexist on jelly bean.
Would cyberon shut down the GPS voice too or take it over?
Thank you

Thats a good question. I haven't used nav yet. If it does you can always enable google search for your nav session. I'm anxious now to find out.
Please let us know, I truly appreciate your help.

No problem, apparently the voice does work with google voice disabled. You can't however use your voice to give it your destination.
Jawbone Voice Dialer
I am currently using a Jawbone Era on my Galaxy Nexus running stock rom of Jelly Bean 4.1. I am trying to get the physical button on the Jawbone to activate Google Now/Voice Assistant instead of Voice Dialers. I tried installing the app in my talk that is suppose to work but no luck. Is there a setting in the os to switch the default action or an apk to download. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

I've tried the 2 or 3 apps that would work to make these changes under ICS. I don't think any of them work under JB. Hopefully the new underlying is just different but still accessible. I think we will know fairly soon now that JB is getting out.

Thanks for responding. I'm no developer but I would think that this sort of thing should be in a settings menu somewhere. I'm surprised that it is not. Changing defaults like which apps to launch upon an action should be user level functions. Just out of curiosity which apps were you using in ICS?
Does anyone know where the defaults are stored to be reset or changed in Android any version?

Media Button Router and bluetooth launch. Actually I may have used them prior to ICS because I didn't need them. Must have been Gingerbread.
I think your going to have to be a developer this time to alter the defaults and I have a bad feeling that it may not be doable this time in a stock rom.

Thanks anyways. I will keep on trying. I said I was no developer...but still no stranger to programming Just never needed to mess around with Android OS usually it does everything i need no trouble. Symbian however was a different story. Hopefully someone will see this post who is much better than me a tweaking OS's and put an option into one of their Roms. (Hopefully android 4.1.2)

I'm on a GSM Nexus with EOS JB rom. My Voice Dialer seems to work fine except for the prompts not functioning, which I managed to fix.

Yes, I wanted voice dialer to work with bluetooth becuase Google search is a very poor tool. It does not understand even a single command where as voice dialer in ICS was great. I don't care about Google serach. Voice dialer merge with Google search is a step backward from Google.
Hello All,
I'm new to the forums, new to android, and new to rooting. I recently switched over from iphone, and it has been a bumpy yet fun ride.
I have an unlocked Galaxy SIII SGH-i747M running the Illusion ROM, android ver. 4.2.2 illusion ver. 4.2.2.2.1 beta
I really miss the stock email app and S-voice, I'm trying to get them back. I've tried the email app from this package:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28000240
as well as this modded app here, which installed OK but doesn't seem to be working as it will not sync any mail no matter what sync settings I choose.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28246860
I don't know what to do about the S-voice. So far what I've read says it cannot be done. Any ideas guys? Please go easy on me, as I am new to this stuff and yes, I did do my research on the forums and wasn't getting anywhere on my own. Thanks!

While I'm only 99 percent certain, I'd say this is not going to work for you. From what I know, both of these apps are integrated and reliant upon the Touchwiz interface to work correctly. May be a stupid question, but have you correctly set the incoming/outgoing servers in the email app?

Yes, I believe so. I used the same settings which did work when I had touchwiz. I could tell it was talking to the server because it still prompted to accept all the security settings, etc. it requires, just would never display anything in the inbox.
I did get the s voice to work last night, though (yay) a couple bugs but will work for me. If I cant use the stock email app, do you have any other suggestions? Something lightweight and clean?
Thank you.

When you installed the email APK, did you use a package installer or did you place it in system/apk? If you took the latter step, you may have needed to fix the permissions of the apk. If you used a package installer you may want to try the system apk method. Let me know if you don't fully understand and I will try to be of more help. BTW the permissions should read rw x r x r
. Another thing to look into would be to install the secemail.apk from the S4, as it may be an Android 4.2 thing.
Rooted and flashed over to the Cyanogenmod (unofficial) release over in the Dev forum here, but I can't find an apk that will install correctly and the play store says my phone is not compatible. The Marshmallow Visual Voicemail seems to be the only thing I've found in this release that isn't working for me, too.
I'm wondering if anyone can provide an APK from their phone or something? Might just be out of luck until the dev in charge of the Note 4 Cyanogen is back or Verizon releases 6.0.1 for the Note 4. All the APKs (and a flashable zip or two) have been kinda old. Most of them would install but force close if you tried to open them.

There's some promising stuff there. Frustratingly someone claims to have it working on AOSP, like CM, but the link 404s. I'll edit this post if I find something that works in case anyone else looks here. Thank you!
Edit: Nope, none of it seemed to work; it still just FCs when I open it. Oddly, I can't uninstall the app now even after undoing the build.prop changes. Oh well, if it causes problems I can wipe and reflash later.
