Disappointing SGP Neo Hybird Case: Common popping up issue of the back - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I bought 2 SGP Neo Hybird Cases 1 months ago.
1 for myself and another one for my girlfriend.
Mine is in silver color while my girlfriend's one is in red
Initially it fits well, look good.
The silver one has a different texture from the others, which is more slippery. So if you want a tight grip, then don't get silver.
But then bad thing occurs after 2 weeks.
The black silicon inner case deformed as you can see in the picture and no longer fit the back of the phone, which totally ruined the grip and texture of the case. The case popping is just annoying.
I then called the authorized dealer in Hong Kong and send them pictures of my case as you can see in this post.
They reply, saying that they are not providing any warranty for this case, and the silicon used is prone to deformed upon heating.
They asked
"Did you put your phone in pockets of your pants or charge your phone with the case on?"
I was shocked when the customer service asked me this. This is so ridiculous. It seems that these cases are really prone to getting out of shape. I never had a case that would deform just by putting the phone in pockets or charging the phone with case on.
I didn't do anything to overheat my phone. I did use customized ROM, the AOKP, and franco kernel. I only used milestone versions which should be stable. I never overclock my phone, but the case just deformed.
It does not seem to be a single issue.
My girlfriend's one is fine at 2 weeks, but now it starts to deform similarly to mine. Please be reminded that it is just 1 month since I purchased the cases.
I know that some people fancy about this case, yet I didn't see any review posted here.
This is what I experienced with 2 cases of the SGP Neo Hybird.
I think it does look good, but it doesn't last at all.
Oops, ya. The dealer promised to reflect my issue to SGP, but I got no reply after more than 1 week. So no good customer service and no warranty, and the case is easily deformed while the price is high. So I would discourage you guys from getting this.
It's one of the most regretful purchase I've had.

After looking at the replies, quite a number of people reported the same issue while a relatively few said theirs were fine.
OK I could be a little biased as mine have the problem. So see the replies here. Still take note that it's like a problem reporting thread so I might gathered more negative comments in this post.

Next time go with the Ultra Hybrid, which has a hard plastic backing that won't deform.

Yeah I recommend the Ultra Hybrid as well... I did a review on it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1659677
On my video I actually mentioned why I wouldn't recommend the Neo for that exact reason. I hope they refund you!

Where did you get the cases from? Are you sure they are not fakes?

i think the iPhone cases have also had a similar issue, i had the neo hybrid before selling it and getting the Ultra hybrid. it feels a tiny bit thinner around the edges and more grippy as the silicone is around the edges.

Pretty sure the looseness has been posted about. It does get worse with heat but mine is not nearly as bad, however I have the Verizon version with the extended battery. If you have the gsm version go with the ultra hybrid, it has better reviews.

yeah I've seen a few people mention this problem, which is why I went with the ultra hybrid rather than the neo.. even tho I liked the neo colours better.
My ultra hybrid has been all good so far, love it =)

Yes I'm sure they are not faked. The case packing have the authorized dealer's logo and SGP HK dealer have seen my recept and regarded it as real.
What I feel bad is not only the quality of the cases, it's how the company handle defect products.
They showed no eagerness to solve my problem.
A case that is known to be deformed easily is still selling on their website.
People complain and get no reply.
That's SGP.
Only if you have perfect confidence on a specific product from SGP or your have no similar choice, or else I would try products from other companies instead.
Hope all of your ultra hybrid continue to function as intended.

Why dont you do this? You said sgp got no reply.

Did you leave yours out in the sun or under a heat lamp? Just sayin..

Check out the Momax iCase. Cheap, and fits well.

Myself & one of my best friends have the same problem.
He has the extended battery & has done exactly the same as yours while myself I don't own the extended battery own & it has just bubbled in the centre.
It annoying because I adore this case (Just feels perfect) but this small problem is annoying :-/

I know there are pics on Ebay but would like pics not from sellers.
It looks kinda bulky and was wondering if it has the same slim form has the SGP cases.
I currently have been using the SGP neo hybrid ~ one month now and no "sagging" of the silicone part yet.....if it does start to sag I may go with the MoMax or just get the ultra hybrid.

I ended up getting another case from another manufacturer (more like an otterbox but not as thick and not as heavy) but the sagging has atleast enabled me to keep the battery cover on when using it now, before it worked nicely without the battery cover and the battery stayed tight.

Just cut the stupid rubber back off... Make it a bumper case, which is way better anyway

then again, I have the 2000 mAh battery, and it seems to fill out the back of the case a little bit more. I'd suspec that with the 1750 battery, it wouldn't fit as well.
i like the case though. my favorite so far.

Roocase Ultra Slim Leather Case for 10.1 Review - Pics Heavy

I received this today in mail from PC Micro. They had coupon for 20% off tablet accessories so ended up to be $26 shipped.
Here is my brief review, and I'll let pictures do the talking.
Build quality: Probably the best I have used for any case. I'm pretty frugal guy, I wouldn't pay an arm or leg for cases but this is one of the very best. It's genuine leather, thus it smells great and feels great. None of that cheap PU leather cases come even close.
Protection: I feel pretty safe with the Gtab 10.1 in this case. Obviously, it's less protection than the thicker cases but this is more than enough for most people's daily use.
Accessibility: All ports are cut out perfectly. Obviously you can't charge with the folio flap close, so you have to charge it with it open. It's also a thin case, so when you are trying to touch the lower borders of the tablet, the rim of the case wouldn't become obtrusive.
Others: There is a velcro flap to keep the tablet in the case so it wouldn't slide out with the case open. A very nice touch IMO. Also there is no magnet for closure. I purposely wanted a case without magnet, so this may be pro or con based on user preference.
Overall: 9.5/10 (I don't give 10/10s). This is as good a case you can get. Don't look any further.
Hi Gordec, thanks for your brief review.
Could you maybe expand it a bit more with your experience as far as using it as a stand? In both modes, for typing and vertical for viewing media or browsing?
Roocase
My friend had one for his Ipad(allple Suck)but the case was nice so I bought one for my galaxy and it was great ...love it made a great addition.
I just got the ultra slim case today and its amazing i dont like the leather one because it covers the bezel around the screen nd it kinda gets in the way with the screen but this case is amazing.. The ultra Slim one..
I just received this case yesterday and must say that I am pleasantly surprised. I was afraid that the advantages of a case would not outweigh the added thickness and weight. However, what makes this case so great is the stand feature. It is so easy to use and type on the tablet when it is perked up on your lap or on the table in front of you. If you are on the fence I'd recommend this case 100%.
Edit: I have the "multi-angle" one (search Amazon)
I have been using this for a few weeks now. It's is a nice little case. Workmanship is vastly better than the comparably priced Acase I returned when the stitching started unraveling.
I dunno if this has happened to any of you guys but after having this case for about 2 months now, I decided to take the tablet out and give it a clean. Lo and behold I noticed that the case has discolored the back of the tablet. I have tried using alcohol to clean it with a cloth but no dice. Anyone else got this?

OK, thanks. I just ordered this case from amazon:

Cool, looking forward to it
I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to add that I have this case and have been using it for about three months now. I just checked the back of my Tab and it's pristine. I have the metallic gray back though, not the white plastic. It's a really great case-if you have the metallic back, don't let the complaints scare you-it looks like the discoloration only happens to the white plastic ones.

HHI Clear flexible TPU case for $.99

So, I went on a limb and ordered this:
http://www.handhelditems.com/matte-back-clear-flexible-case-p-201349.html
I would say I hope I don't regret it, but it was $.99 + about $3 for shipping. It hasn't shipped yet, but they provided a tracking number last night.
It's clear, has a cutout for the power button it appears, and I hope it works well. Just worried about it stretching out like the silicone on my current phone did. I'm not that familiar with TPU, so hoping that's not an issue.
Edit: I just got this case. It shipped in about 5 days by ups. It very thin but also makes me unsure if it'll absorb any impact at all. The first thing I noticed I think back is frosted, not completely clear. It's also not curved, but flat all around. I'm curious how well this will fit. The frosted back has a subtle texture to I as well, make it comfortable to hold and not slippery. The power button and all ports are exposed, only the volume buttons are covered and they feel stiff.

The TPU case on my Galaxy S Captivate is still fine after almost 3 years. No stretching whatsoever. I don't take it on/off often though, so that may shorten the life. It is certainly not like the silicone I have seen on other cases (specifically a GS3 Defender case that a friend has) which is very loose and has already been replaced once or even twice.

This is encouraging. Could be a dollar well spent.
It's definitely not a bad purchase for $1. The only thing you need to be aware of with TPU cases like that is they retain heat, which can be really crappy if you're doing some hardcore gaming or have the phone sitting on your dash. As far as protection goes, my requirement is that the case has a lip that comes out a bit from the face of the phone. That way if I drop it face down my screen (hopefully) won't get scratched.
Does anyone know if AT&T stores have any HTC One cases / screen protectors yet.
OP - thanks for the case link. I picked one up also.
Now they gave me $1 store credit. I bought this case and only paid shipping if I decide to spend my 1 on something else.

This case came today, but I won't have time for a day or more to show it off or describe it.

I haven't been using this case much because I preferred my Speck clear case - well, the rubber/silicone trim around the volume buttons and usb port are streatching badly... so I put this $1 tpu case on instead finally. Dropped my phone on the asphalt last night from just below my shoulders. Phone landed on a corner and did a few flips. No damage what-so-ever. Not even a dent on a corner. Also have a Rhino Shield MK II on too, so if there would have been any screen damage, the shield did it's job well too.

I bought one back when they were branded TC for my Galaxy S2 as a holdover until Seidio started selling a case. It was one of the cheapest on Amazon at the time. A year and a half and many miraculous saves later I'm retiring the phone in near perfect condition. I'm definitely getting one for my One.

Yeah I'm scared to make the switch to HTC and sense since I've had stock since the gnex lte but I've never owned an HTC device and I always thought sense looked nice. I've heard so many bad things about it that it has me worried, but I guess I've gotten bored of pure stock for a bit and its time to try something new. Either way I can't wait to try it out. Hopefully its worth it!

I got my Diztronic Gray TPU case today, and since I've been using the HHI (purchased from that $0.99 sale last week) I figured I'd share the differences having them both in hand.
As I said above, I had a Diztronic TPU on a previous phone and enjoyed it although it had a few flaws (excess molding flash around buttons, missing NC mic hole). Being a tightass I jumped on the cheap HHI case deal, figuring I'd take a chance on other manufacturers matching that same quality.
And I was rewarded for my cheapness with a cheap case. The HHI case has two big problems as far as I'm concerned. The cutout for the power button is pill shaped, following the contour of the button and projecting upwards away from the case. It doesn't leave much room for a finger to press, especially when trying to use your index finger when one-handing it. I remedied this with an X-Acto and a soldering iron to smooth the cut, opening up the button hole towards the back of the case. More troubling though is the fit around the front of the case. HHI managed to get the back of the case to fit the curves of the One nicely. However they didn't account for the bevel around the One's bezel. The side effect of this is that the corners don't stretch the front portion enough, leaving the sides to bow out a couple of mm at the center of each side. I don't think this would affect the function of the case in an impact, but at best it ruins the straight line aesthetic of this phone. One lesser annoyance is the molding seam that runs the entire perimeter, which isn't distracting to the touch but is very obvious against the transparent side pieces.
The HHI seems like it would be a functional case from the aspect of being protective: it covers the corners with shock absorbing TPU and protects the bezel where it counts. It goes in and out of pockets easily and the matte clear blends well with the color of the silver phone.
Today the Diztronic came in and the extra $11.51 proved well worth it. The Diztronic case fixes both of the issues I had with the HHI: the power button cutout is nearly flush with the button at the front and back, making it easy to push, and the front fits snug and stays straight along the edges. Like the HHI, the cutouts all line up ok, and while it doesn't make a functional difference the camera cutout is centered maybe 1mm too low. Unlike the HHI, the molding seams are small and in the corners. My previous TPU case experience was with a black case, so time will tell if I'll see this one turn yellow after a few months. If that happens (and supposedly it's inevitable with clear TPU) I'll buy the black version without hesitation.
TL;DR: The HHI and Diztronic TPU cases both do their jobs, but the Diztronic is well worth the extra money for the fit and finish.

Haha 'tis is true but I remember I got my HTC One S case for approximately $7 or so but
nevertheless I am quite content with this case! I just recieved it today, so far so good. I was a little concerned that it would cover the camera a little as the cutout looks really tight and possibly even touches the lens but it actually doesn't affect the pictures which is fine for me!
Otherwise I'm liking it! I feel like it is definitely a little more protected than it would be naked but slim enough to not make much of a difference although I do miss the aluminum unibody feel a little..
Just to add, definitely not going to protect much from a crazy fall or anything but I already knew that when I decided to purchase it.
Purchased this case after seeing everyone's reviews here. Thanks everyone!

OtterBox Armor Review

Bought this case new from ebay knowing about its few problems being reported like the proximity sensor, call problems, and audio issues, but still preferred this over the lifeproof simply for its protection. When i first received it, my initial reaction was "wow, its here, and its HUGE!" But i carefully disassembled it and clean it out just in case, water tested it (passed), dried it off, and finally put my phone in its new suit of armor. It really made the phone huge, and i mean huge, but i honestly dont mind the added bulk because of its substantial protection and it still feels very comfy in hand and doesnt hinder the phones functionality at all. Speaker for music also plays very loudly and crystal clear unlike other reviewers have stated. I think its a great case to buy and kind of essential if you have a very physically active life. Now to the cons (although their aren't many): Unlike many other reviewers of the white version have stated, i dont have call proximity issues, only thing that happens related to proximity is when i turn the phone over to face down while playing music, it pauses, but thats expected because i had that motion option enabled. Next, phone calls work fine and i hear people just fine, but the caller on the other end may have a problem hearing you sometimes. But it rarely happens and most times they can hear you. Easy fixes are bluetooth and earphones. Lastly, the home button definitely requires more pressure to press and the menu/back "buttons" are a little harder to get to but you'll get used to it. Thats the only thing "wrong" with this case honestly and its still excellent to have. I would highly recommend it. If you dont mind a little bulk, get it. Again, great great case :good:
I have a brand new one in original packaging from otterbox if anyone wants, contact me through dm or 6785162209
Personally speaking, at that kind of bulk, I'd rather shove in a 7200mAh Anker. Protection is nice and all but severely handicaps the phone IMO. If you like bulk, might as well triple your battery life.
Furthermore, if it does get scratched/cracked/broken, it's fairly easy to replace (for most members here). For example, you can swap the camera lens for a few bucks if it does get scratched.
I've had my GS3 for almost two years now. Been completely nude the whole time. No screen protector, nothing. There are many surface scratches on the screen which you can only see if you look at it while the screen is off under a super, super bright light. Doesn't affect the image quality at all. Outside frame (the gray part) is a little cracked in few places. Not a big deal.
Runs flawless on CM 10.2.1. Undervolted almost 100mV across the board.
I used to be OCD, but decided to save my health instead.

I personally liked the armor series for my S3. I only stopped using mine due to needing to put my phone in my pocket and the armor didn't quite fit the bill. I use my lifeproof nud for daily use at work but when out playing around or working at the house I still use my armor series. And you definitely can't beat the otterbox warranty.

Fair enough. I suppose we don't always have ideal circumstances to our liking.

LOL...I love my phone being slim and I can live with scratches. But after a few near misses with my toddler son and getting soaked a couple of times on the job, I decided I would have to give in. Bring without my phone even for a day would screw up my schedule. Amazing how much I depend on it.

I've also bought this case and it turned out to be just what I was looking for. Before I've had Griffin survivor which would be good enough for me except two things, it was not that easy to remove (I prefer naked S3 while not in a hostile environment) and it scratched my S3. After the latter happened I've immediately sold it.
But the reason to post is for everyone with menu/back/home buttons problem. After a proper inspection I've found out that the back cover of the case doesn't give enough support for installed phone. If the phone is fully pushed into the case there is approximately 1.5mm gap between the phone and the back cover. So after first push on menu/back/home button even if the phone is inserted all the way in to the case, the phone backs up a little and that gap moves from the back to the front. In order to solve this problem I've ordered 1.5mm thick silicone sponge to fill the gap between the phone and the back cover. One thing that bothers me about this is that waterproofness of the case might be broken if 1.5mm thick sponge is too much and even bigger problem is how test waterproofness as I don't want to sacrifice my phone. I'll report any pros or cons about my modification. If it solves this problem I'll post some pictures of modification.
I've had the Acase Superleggera Pro Dual Protection Case on my S3 since I bought it and I love it. I've dropped it so many times and not noticed any difference in performance. And it's not super bulky like the other 2 layer cases. It's also less than $10 at Amazon these days.

I tested its waterproof function without phone first and then finally just did it repeatedly with the phone and it hasnt failed me yet, hopefully never. And also ive noticed this gap, i wouldnt recommend filling it because it may compromise as u stated

For everyday protection sure it may be good, but when it comes to 10ft drop, water, being hit, stomped on, and numerous other things, the armor case is the best.

As I've said if not in hostile environment in my case this is mostly dusty air and greasy surfaces, I prefer my S3 naked. So Otterbox Armor is needed.

I tried with 1.5 mm foam and it was just a little too much. Now I am waiting for 1mm which I think it should work. As I've already said, in my case waterproofness is not really needed but I wouldn't like to brake it. Will report again.

I finally got 2mm foam as 1mm is hard to get. 2mm foam goes into gaps between ribs on the rubber on the back cover of the case. So this just might do the trick as the case closes ok.
The for the review, I have an Otterbox Defender and love it to death, but I've been thinking of buying one of these.
i have the Acase Superleggera Pro Dual Protection Case on my S3 and it is great!
Just got my new otterbox armor today!! Love it so far! Any way to tell if it's legit and not a fake? Lol... Paranoid I guess?

RhinoShield CrashGuard Bumper Case worth it?

I've heard about the RhinoShield CrashGuard Bumper Cases. Apparently, they can withstand 11ft drops on concrete. Has anyone had any experience with them in the past? Do they hold up? I am deathly afraid of cracking my S8 Plus but also find the idea of covering up my GORGEOUS phone with a case to be stupid. Thoughts?

Mine just shipped today, hopefully it'll arrive by the weekend.
My 2¢
I like idea of a bumper frame, paired up with a clear or matte body skin on the backside.
Can I attest to the extremes of the protection, not even gonna try, but , from previous use on other devices, it should do the job as advertised.
They add a bit more width to the grip of the phone than one might imagine, but, I don't think that will be an issue with this phone, it has a relatively narrow grip as-is.
I'll post when it arrives & will decide whether it becomes my daily driver case (Other two are the OEM Clear Case & OEM Alcantara Case).

Waiting for it to come on to Amazon, still isn't on there:/
I have it, the power button is a little tough to push, but I like it a lot!! Skin looks great with it
^looks like the best bumper for us! Cool
I perorder mines (and one for me wife after she saw the videos she wanted it)
They said mines has been ship but no tracking number yet
I like the idea of not coving up your phone.
I went caseless back in the day with the plastic phones. But with the new all glass/metal phones its a bit different. The metal gets bend and the glass breaks.

That looks perfect, can't wait to get mine. Still no tracking number.
Looks good. Might get it with a skin as well.
Thanks.
Had one on my 6P. Dropped a number of times without any damage to the frame or screen. I will be getting one for my S8+ as well.
As for the power button being stiff...give it a week or so to break in. It gets easier to push.
My RhinoShield bumper arrived today & my 2¢:
Overall,it seems like a half-baked effort.
The sides do not cling to the phone well/gapping.
While I expected the case to add some width to the grip, they could have done a better job contouring the edges, the feel-in hand is akin to the S7 Edge, not good at all.
Buttons are extremely stiff to depress, should not be like this out of the box & require a "breaking-in" period.
For those that are planning on using a TGSP, the case may tighten up a bit,IDK,I don't use anything other than liquid sealers on my displays.
I may cut out the buttons & try using it like that. If it works out OK,I may use it on occasion, but, this case definitely falls in to the "occasional use only" category, I'll stick w/the OEM Samsung Clear hard case as a daily driver.
To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement, too bad Nillkin isn't making bumper cases anymore..........................

I'm really disappointed to hear this. I just ordered mine Monday since no one else seems to be making one. I've become fond of a good bumper and a cool skin.

I kind of agree with you. I was super excited for mine to come in, however, i was fairly disappointed when it arrived.
Exact same issues with it as you.
i also got one the other day and the fit is pretty bad, the sides of the bumper dont fit the phone well and for $25 i would have expected a lot better. I ordered a cheap spigen case off amazon for $11 and it fits much better then this does.

I've already boxed mine up,contacted EvoLutive Labs via e-mail & requested a refund.
I stated the reasons pretty much the same as we've experienced, hope to hear back in a day in a day or two.
I've been pleased w/their past efforts, but, this one is a fail. Perhaps those w/the S8 are having a better experience, probably not experiencing the loose fit as we are, chalk that up to the extra height of the S8+.
A tight fit is a challenge here, but,I feel it could have been better.
Forgot to post back.
I got my case a few days ago and been using it. It works for me so far.
The sides of the case does fit a little lose, but the phone doesnt slide around it. So all that is fine, its probably has something to do with the protection it offers.
The buttons are a bit on the hard side to push in.
The back have a nice lip so the camera and everything is lifted up. Same for the front.
The edges on the front are a bit exposed but it would have to be in order to use the phone. But it still seems like it would protect.
The phone feels great in this guard. there arent any sharp corners on the bumper.
I had a thin silicon case that had sharp corners on the ports and it would cut into my hand. This one doesnt do that which is great.
Also funny that my silicon case was suppose to be super thin but yet this bumper makes the phone seems alot thinner then the phone in the silicone case.
I got the black one and a blue on on the way for my wife. I doubt she will use it since i brought her a wallet case before she got her phone.
I'm still waiting on mine. I got an email with a tracking # finally, but it still says pre-shipment. So I guess it won't be showing up this week.

Yea therr shipping is weird.
Normally they email ypu saying your order is fulfilled.
Then a day or 2 later you get a tracking number.
It will say pershipment. Then a day or 2 later it will get pick up.
And then about 2-3days for it to make it to you.
