Hello,
This is my first post to EDA. I have an unlocked Galaxy Note 717 and was wondering is their any way to use the NFC feature?
I think this feature is locked on the phone.
This may be helpful.

Not sure if your version have or not the NFC chipset , but the simplest way is try to download any NFC related app, eventually try AirDroid as some app’s wont be installed thru the marketplay …
Hope that help
On the I777, it was possible to get NFC (minus Google Wallet) with some smali hacks in Settings and a permissions XML.
I believe the ICS leaks enable it.
This is better discussed in your device-specific forum.
Most of the roms I've tested have the option available to enable in settings. If not, you can check this thread

I have the Moto App installed and still get the unknown tag error message. If what else I've read is true, NFC has different profiles, sort of like how some of my BT headsets don't support A2DP even though it's Bluetooth.
I will try the Sony one in a bit though, thanks.
*EDIT* just tried the sony one, didn't work either.

interesting, what is exactly the model of your headset ….
Normally your H-Set should be AD2P …
I will try the Moto App’s and try to see what type of NFC code he his waiting ..
for the sony is normal it doesn’t work as what the app’s have to read is writing only in the sony accessories … i have made working the speaker Nokia 360 with the HOX i have and work like a charm … so i didn’t see why your H-Set Moto won’t work with your Note …
let me see that case

The model's the Elite Flip, maybe it doesn't work because I'm not sure if the NFC's offical, I'm running an ICS leak, and I know AT&T for whatever reason doesn't want NFC enabled in the i717. I don't have the international version if that makes any difference.

That don’t made any change, the biggest difference is you have the NFC enabled or not … in the other hand i have see the MotoSoftware is not that much open in AD2P like he must be. But let me figure out , how give a kick in the nuts to both ATT & Moto and made the things work like a Charm.
i will get back to you soon

No, I bought both Medias phone and GB-6900 finally.
It is not stable as I expected and the function is limited compare to MBW-150.
i think it could work with and bluetooth v4.0 phone if...
I have the gb-6900 bluetooth watch (i live in usa)
my galaxy s3 is rooted and i have the g-shock app but the bluetooth section doesnt show up cuz
the only phones that work with it are
1. MEDIAS PP N-01D
2. MEDIAS LTE N-04D
3. AU smartphone "IS series" MEDIAS CH softbank 101n
But for some reason they go on to tell you they recommend your device info be as such..
1. Andriod OS 2.3.1 or higher
2. Screen size (resolution) HD (720 x 1280 pixels) and WVGA (480 x 800 pixels)
as if they kinda made it for other phones they just put a little lock on it or something temporarly.
i know that the root wifi tether app can change the model of your phone to look like another phone
so is there and app that i can trick the gshock app to think its one of those phones so i can unlock the bluetooth secetion to my g-shock app so i can use my g-shock watch i have with my galaxy s3
and if not can someone plz make a way!!! PLZZZ
or take the apk file and play with it in virtual box and take what ever code out that block the bluetooth section for showing up

the reason i post this is because i think if you change your build prop to one of the phone's i listed above the bluetooth section of the gshock app might open on american phone's or others like the gs3! which means the watch would work with our american phone!!!
aka my dream come true!
the problem is what is the build prop name of the phone!?
does anyone have anyway of finding out what id write or have a way to get a hold of one of those build prop it would be greatly appreciated!!!

I tried the watch with note 2, but it didn't connect, it didn't see it at all !
later I tried it with iPhone 5 and again the same thing, it didn't see it at all!
I tried the Bluetooth scanner with the note 2 so it showed it only but it can't pair with it.
after searching Japanese sites .. i found out that the problem is the missing Bluetooth supported profiles in our phones, so even if the BT is version 4.0 it needs to have these profiles..
FMP Find Me Profile 1.0
PASP Phone Alert Status Profile 1.0
TIP Time Profile 1.0
ANP Alert Notification Profile 1.0
PXP Proximity Profile 1.0
So Casio made some NEC Casio Medias phones with these profiles in it specially to connect to the watch.
So If anyone with more knowledge on this matter can clarify how can we add these profiles to note 2 for example ? maybe a new rom already has it ..any suggestions ?
thanks guys

First, great work, man! I've been waiting for a tool like this for quite some time and I'll do extensive testing next week, so far everything looks good.
I can't confirm what Andy_S said I also use your App on a SGS3 i9300 rooted Stock-Firmware XXDLJ4 (Android 4.1.1) on Siyah Kernel and it runs stable.
Only Criticism is; Your App want's quite a lot of Permissions that are not necessary for Example your location on Startup, this is quickly taken care of with any Permission Manager like LBE Guard or similar but I still would be intrigued to know what the app is using the location for?
Thanks hope you will add new feature to find more keys
Great job !
unfortunately my phone have no NFC (sgs) !

This app is kinda outdated. And the features are limited. For what functionality are you looking?
I, for one, would need to find a key & unlock mifare desfire public transportation card so i could format it and use it as NDEF "container" - standard NFC tag...

This looks interesting. I have also seen a small Bluetooth device for your keys that works as a trusted connection to keep your phone unlocked which would be a better solution. Also using a Pebble watch or the like would work too.

As far as I know, the Ultra/Mini/Maxx cannot do NFC unlock like the Moto X can, so those Skip tags won't help with an Ultra/Mini/Maxx. However, I have a Pebble watch, and, as a trusted BT device, it's great.
The last update put Motorola Skip Setup on my Maxx, so maybe it will work soon. Also, if you have the Xposed framework installed, you can install the NFC LockscreenOff Enabler module and use a NFC sticker/keychain to unlock your phone. While you are at it, get the GravityBox module as well. It has some awesome options to customize your phone.

If you buy the skip and touch it to the back, it suppose to start the setup. I had to watch about 5 YouTube videos to find that out.
Is the function available on the Compact? I know it's possible due to it using the same processor as the Nexus 5, and it has the option for 'Hotword detection' in the voice settings so I'd guess it should be functioning, but I can't seem to get it to work, even after following this guide: http://www.cultofandroid.com/44949/enable-the-nexus-5s-ok-google-feature-outside-of-the-u-s-tip/

I believe Google Search has the functionality built in but Google Now Launcher enables it to work. Unfortunately, I believe there is some key API code in Kit Kat that is required for this.

Hi guys,
I would like to know if there's a possibility to display the battery status of a connected Bluetooth device on the Oneplus 3? Natively or via a third party app? Ideally for me, it should work on the stock ROM but if necessary I would flash a custom one if it would only be possible that way.

Thanks for the suggestion but it doesn't seem to work with my specific pair of headphones :/ If that means that they don't send battery information to the phone I probably can't get it to work with any solution.

Sorry to hear that.
FWIW after suggesting the app to you, I did try it out. It seemed to work with my pair of blue tooth headphones during the limited time I used it..
Going by the comments about the app in the play store, it looks like the usage is limited based on the manufacturer of the blue tooth device....
Just to close this topic: This feature was released in Open Beta 19 and for me it works great!

I didn't have to activate it. For me it just worked. Your Bluetooth device still has to support sending its battery information to the phone. In this months Open Beta update there were some fixes for this feature. Maybe it works for you now?
Edit: grammar
