Does anyone know how to remap the Search hardware key so that when it is pressed the recent apps pop up instead? I have searched, but all of the "fixes" I have found have either not done anything or been phone specific. An easy to follow guide would be a big help and surely someone else is curious too. A flashable zip rewards you extra points.
P.S. I am on AOKP build 36 and the flashable zip I have seen floating around does not work for our phone.
THANKS AGAIN!

It does but it takes too long and makes me not want to multitask like that... Who honestly ever uses the search button?

This is exactly what I was talking about. I found this thread but it seems phone-specific as I couldn't find that java file. :/ Thanks for your help though! Wait, do I have to open up the ROM file to find this? Im soooo confused. More help would be magnificent! thanks!

Not trying to be rude or condescending or anything like that, but out of true curiosity, in what context do you use it the most? I'm curious that I might be missing out in how useful it potentially may be. Thanks for your insight.

It's great that we have found a way to wake the phone using different buttons but i really still would like trackpad to wake the phone. It does work in amskgh's cyanogen mod port. Is there a way of finding out how or what exactly allows it and porting it over to any rom?
There is a specific file related to that, it's mentioned somewhere here, maybe if you compare it to cyanogen's one..
For some reason, TrackballWake isn't available as a standalone mod. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645481
Ok, dug the zip... Don't have enough time to play with it though (it is for CM).View attachment white-text-trackball-NoSuccessW-WSv01.zip

As I said, it is for CM. (you don't need it as it is integrated in CM ROM already). On other ROMs you will probably end with endless boot. Needs work.

Ahh, endless boot. Maybe next time it's better for me to wait for a reply, I can confirm that it ends with an endless boot if you have a Desire
Just a thought, the trackpad is used to take a picture when pressed, if you kind find the key reference in the camera app, can that then be translated back to be used to wake the phone. Use the reference in the same bravo-keypad.kl file?
The trackpad sends BUTTON_MOUSE form the kernel, maybe that helps.
Then guess add a line to the bravo-keypad.ll file with that and the correct number, wonder if it the same as the N1.

I'd love to test this but using cyanogen already. Maybe someone else can test?
Tried editing the bravo=keypad.kl with a few different numbers and BUTTON_MOUSE, but no joy as yet.

Gutted. Just flashed over to a Froyo rom to try it out but you already did. Damn
Really want trackpad to wake. It's my only gripe with the phone.
Try the 272 keycode, hope it helps.

No joy I'm afraid, tried 230-240 and 270-280 now, think it has to be something else. :-(

Nope, didn't work. With that setup it even ignores power button for both sleep and wake...
I don't think we can achieve this in bravo-keypad.kl...
Is the cyanogen rom so different that we can't compare and find out whhat makes it work? I don't think it is the bravo keypad file in that.
Yep, framework is entirely different on CM....
Is there any way to change/disable/mute the beep that is heard every time you change the volume?
(I know you can hold it down to go to silent -- that's not what I mean.)
Thanks

What rom are you on? AOSP or Sense. I don't know how to do that, but I can poke around and see if I can find the correct sound file for you. Just need to know if you're on sense or aosp.

Okay, thanks. I'll look around and see if I find anything. As you noted, I didn't see it in the /system/media/ui folder. Its got to be somewhere though, (assuming it can be altered to begin with)

any luck ?? i couldn't find nothin'.
However, I'm pretty sure it's modifiable, because one of the many ROMs I've tried had a piano-like sound instead of the normal beep, that actually changed notes for each level...
Hey anyone know how to do this i searched the whole net and many ppl ask about that but noone knows the answere PLEASE HELP!!!
This is probably similar to disabling the camera focus sound. I will post a link before with information on that. Basically somewhere in the code it is invoking a virtual beep so there is not a sound file stored anywhere.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering, with regard to the LT15i, is it possible to assign a different purpose to any of the 3 keys along the bottom?
with the advent of on screen button mods I can still get the 'back' 'home' and 'menu' options on the screen and thought it would be wonderful if I could have on screen buttons and then assign the 3 physical keys to do something else.
maybe assign apps to each one?
If its not possible, and you know why, please try to explain why rather than just saying 'no' as im really interested in trying to learn here rather than just asking random questions
Thanks!

No problem, some things are harder to find than others.
I use flipcover in Note 2. I really like pick up in-calling by power bottun, not by home button. thanks. if you know any ROM or app solving my question, it is also great.

any app can work on my case?
there used to be an app called Button Remapper for rooted devices but now the Dev has stopped support for JB it was only till GB so need to look around if there is any such app try in play store see if you could find
or you may want to try this

Thank for your support. I search my concerns by google, many people meet the same problem, and so far there is no any solution. anyway I can try to answer in-call by shaking fuction. better than nothing.
I appreciate that someone share with us how to answer incall when using flipcover in note 2. so far I know answer call by touching home key and touching screen.
I really like reading ebooks on my phone but when I'm scrolling down it keeps going back or forward a page. it drives me nuts. I already have motion turned off and it doesn't seem to be the app (ezpdf)..
Any way to disable this annoying "feature"?
Thanks

if you can not answer the question, does that not put you into the same Cat.........
as far as the page layout thing I don't have a PDF file big enough to flip pages and see if I get the same issues.
