List your priorities and peeves of what you want/need (or not) from a phone.
For starters, if you want battery life of more than 2 days, DHD is a no go, but so will many other 4" screened phones be.
If you like android OS, then Desire HD is the best for you. Of course, it's still depend on what you want and what you need, but i can say that Desire HD will satisfy all of them.
compare to Galaxy S which using android OS too:
- larger screen (4.3" to 4") but Galaxy S has Super AMOLED screen, Desire HD has Super LCD screen. My point of view, galaxy S has weird color, everything seem to be overcontrast and green, Desire HD screen looks good at straight direction but when you changed your direction, the color changed too (look like contrast drop down miserably)
- dual flash led with 8M pixels camera
- HTC sense, auto fit, smart dial ... which Galaxy S doesn't have
- .... many more points but i don't remember now.
Compare to iP4
- larger screen but it's just that, Desire HD totally lost at display compare to iP4
- iP4 is more smooth than Desire HD when scrolling
- ... no more, i'm just using iP4 for few hours cause it's not mine
its the most powerfull device on the market at the moment....... what on earth could make you feel sorry about it??

Have you tried to scroll pages like Engadget? If you do I slowly its fine but try to do it extremely fast and iPhone won't manage to render the page in time.
Same goes for wide text. Android will fit it to the amount of zoom you have at the moment. On iPhone its non existing.
Remove those 2 options from android and web scrolling will be as smooth as on the iphone
And to answer authors question.
It's totally worth it. I can get 2 days of moderate use phone is extremely fast. Although I have some issues but I don't know if it's handset it self or some applications...

I asked same question before I bought it, and now that I've had it for some weeks I can say that it was totally worth it. Sure its expensive but I came from a old phone which was pissing me of and really only upgraded to get rid of those annoyances, but also get the best at the same time.
I've never had a phone which everytime I used it that made me say wow.
I've had this phone since soon after launch and it's the best phone I've ever used. Sure you have to charge it every night but that's standard for smart phones in general.
I do have one regret though - because I had to have it at launch when supplies were low I paid way too much for it.
Other than that it's been great.
Someone swyped my idea.
its definetly worth it. although mine didnt cost anything

YES it is definitely worth buying. I used to be an avid NOKIA phone user, and beside it, I also use PDA's. My last PDA was a HTC Artemis (NM8) and my last nokia phone is X6. On top of those, I use a netbook at night when I'm in bed, I also have a Tomtom because the Nokia navigation is cumbersome to use and unreliable.
Last week I bought a DHD - and it does everything I wanted to do - brilliantly.
So my answer to your question again is a definite YES!!!
i am going to buy either galaxy s ( captivate )or htc desire HD. .
my main concern is battery.. .
can it last from 8 am to 8 pm with normal use.. ( with internet and games )
or do i need to carry extra batttery or charger with me along )
and some one said that camera lens pops out, which can cause it to scratch . how serious is that ?
and how is battery cover.. some one said its too cheap and floppy ..
it'll defintely last for 12 hours, even with high usage.
the battery cover is just fine..yeah its not that nice compared to the alubody, but mine fits in and is not floppy.
scratches..mh..no problems here...
DN41
Battery life can last 12 hours with average use, if you do a lot of gaming you will drain any smartphone battery in a matter of hours. I used it moderately throughout the day, browsing, some games, music, xda etc and got 14hours use before 10% warning. It's my first smartphone and don't regret it at all, love the big screen and build quality oh and Android.
My cam lens is fine so maybe that's more uncommon than it seems.
It's tough choosing but I doubt you will regret it.

Hey everyone,
My first post here .
So im planning to buy HTC Desire HD, but i heard that it has some issues with proximity sensor. But there was update which should have fixed that issue, and as i readed for most people that update fixed issue, but for some it didnt. So im asking is this really fixed for everyone? Also how about screen? I contacted HTC and they said it has 16million colors and its S-lcd, but i saw some video clips in which people complained that screen look kinda washed out. also it has same resolution as the desire or desire z, so perhaps on Desire hd screen is pixelated (bigger screen) or when you view web page in very small font, instead of clear symbols i would see just black dots (because the resolution is not that big?). Also i heard complaints about poor battery life, but some people say that its because you use network intense apps like skype in background. Well i dont use any social stuff (facebook, twitter) or skype (i use it only on my pc), so the battery life should be good right? I would be happy if it would last at least 1 day. About the build quality i heard that battery cover and sim card cover doesnt get perfectly fitted in its positions, is this true? So far ive been thinking at first to buy htc desire, but now when desire hd price lowered, and since i heard that desire hd has less problems than original desire im thinking on buying one. I also thinked perhaps nexus s? but its price is bigger and it has less RAM, also it has super amoled (amoled is a minus, really). So far for now Desire hd looks like the best choice to me, currently im owning Samsung s5230 star.
Cheers
Its suprising that nobody did answer
By the way i have few other questions to add. How well does the phone sits on a hand? i mean can you touch all edges of the screen without using another hand? Also, i heard that HTC desire had lots of problems with random rebooting and overheating, but how about desire hd? does it still have those problems?
thanks again for answers

ive never had a problem with the sensor, screen acts well during calls the screen is big, but just about fully useable with one hand, the pvt1 & 2 desires had faulty mainboards, thats where the random reboot problem came from, the DHD dosent have this problem
If you would of done some research you could find all the answers already.
I have no issue with the proximity sensor but if you can test it out before buying and make sure it works properly then you have nothing to worry about.
Screen is really really good. When you view the phone on about a 45degree angle it does become a little washed out but why would you view it on a angle. I much prefer a S-LCD then AMOLED or those other newer screens since I feel they don't look very natural at all, they provide better black for sure but everything else looks very saturated with a weird tint. For me the phone fits great in my hand and I can use it with just one hand.
Battery is good for a smartphone with such a huge screen, you can easily get 2 days with little use. I also don't use facebook and that other crap so I find battery life just great. Playing games non stop the battery lasts about 6 - 8 hours, depending on the game.
I find build quality excellent. I too heard complaints like you've mentioned but I find everything fits perfectly and very easy to remove and put back on.
I would very much recommend this phone, you simply can't go wrong. I came from a older phone so the upgrade was huge for me and I really like Android now, bye bye WinMo.
The phone is junk. I'd recommend a Nokia N91 over this crap. I've heard that phone even has a hard drive.
Obviously I'm lying. Best phone ever. Mostly you will find that the unsatisfied buyers are more vocal than the happy ones.
It's not too big unless you have tiny hands, screen is beautiful, chances of getting a faulty one are small.
I charge every night but I could get 48 hours if I am conservative with usage.

thanks for info. what do you mean pvt1 and 2 have that rebooting problem? so if i buy now htc desire i will not get this overheating and random rebooting issue?
@ErOr22 Thanks. ive already done lots of research and as i said for some people update fixes issue for some not. in fact all those posts where like posted in october, perhaps the newest line of desire hd does no longer have that problem. Well i also heard that htc desire hd has not as good viewing angles as original desire with s-lcd. But when you look at different angles to the screen does the washout effect is big or almost unsignificant? I currently own samsung s5230 a cheap touchscreen phone, but its screen is good imo, viewing angles are brilliant, so i wouldnt like to buy expensive phone with worse screen that the cheap phone.
@dr.m0x Thanks. i do also see that many people complain about this phone and many others. thats why i want to hear opinions from a little more optimistic people

they are diffrent hardware revisions, but that was on the desire, the desire hd has never had this problem
i'm really satisfied with DHD, colors look brillant, screen size is the one i wanted and battery capacity is still on try,, but i use wifi 24h and social stuff. I've not encountered any problem on cover slot, it was the first thing i've checked and it fits well.

On a 45 degree angle the washout effect is pretty small, its noticeable but nothing to really cry about, I would say my i900 Omnia had a better viewing angle but not by much. I wouldn't really concern too much about it, just go to some shop and have a play and see for yourself.
Hi everyone, I m also a potential Android owner and was rocking back and forth between the Desire and the DHD. (since I dont like a iPhone copy like Galaxy S)
I've been doing my research in the background since a while and seeing this thread i thought of doing this post.
The main reason I was considering Desire over DHD was the battery life problem, in fact I was about to order my desire a while back but changed my mind and thought of doing more research. All I really need to know is how the battery perform in DHD COMPARED to the original Desire. (because every other aspect about the Desire perfectly suits my needs.) Like the @nece228 i really dont care fb twitter etc syncing all the time, even I am happy with the manually pressing the refresh button on the widget whenever i feel like checking for an update.
What I do plan to do with it is mostly try apps, rooting, hacking, play games (show off the capabilities of Adreno 205 to my friends) watch videos, take a snap and some HD footage, and of course the basic functions of a phone, texting, calling and some browsing.
I really want it to last solid 24 hrs with moderate usage because I dont have anywhere to charge it up during the day.
Would someone having experience from both worlds give an opinion about the DHD battery life COMPARED to Desire? It will make my decision about DHD or original Desire.
PS: I ve seen the huge support and userbase behind the Desire (6000+threads vs 1000+ in DHD forum) will there be that kind of community building around DHD too? (given the same time of existence) And this phone will be my first Android experience too. Looking forward to make a good choice of a phone in the first attempt)
@AndroHero, so you mean that those two revisions of motherboards had that problem? So as of now if ill buy the latest revision of motherboard i wont get those problems with overheating and random rebooting right? If so, then perhaps i should reconsider, and buy original desire, because that was the biggest problem why i didnt want to buy that phone. Also the problem is multitouch, i would usually ignore that because i dont play games (only they require proper multitouch), but since new google earth came with those cool multitouch gestures i saw a video in youtube in which those gestures doesnt work that smoothly, because of those multitouch issues. But this isnt that big problem, the only serious problem is overheating and random rebooting, which i really dont want to see.
@Spaghetti-XRY, thanks for informing me.
@ErOR22, well in the video which shows desire and desire screen comparisons (both s-lcd) desire screen has better angles and no washout effect. but i guess ill go to shop and compare those two devices by myself.
@XartzMAX, i think i can help you. well actually if you count mathematically how much different is 1230 miliamper and 1400 miliamper battery math shows that you gain only about ten minutes of usage, so thats definitely not a problem. as i know all android devices has more or less same battery life. Actually in all what you want both devices will perform well except on gaming. The original desire's gpu is twice times slower than desire hd, so in original desire you wont be able to play newest games smoothly. So i would recommend you desire hd, it has much faster gpu, even latest games are smooth, also this will affect movie playback performance and since bigger screen is better for movies and games i would recommend you desire hd.

What everyone said.
As for battery life, you have to give it a few recharges before you can really see how much it can hold, also there's some info on some sort of battery calibration that is supposed to double your battery life but I haven't tried that.
I keep Gmail chat, SKYPE and a bunch of other online stuff on ALL DAY because of work, plus have it turned on (the screen) a lot of the time, for work, playing intensive 3D games / or not and showing off to iPhone users . It has no problem to get me through a full day until I get home and plug it in.
I have owned an HTC before but switched to an iPhone 3G which I had for 3 years, did loads of research before buying this phone and when I got it all I can say is AMAZING this is the best phone I have ever owned.
Cons: Big phone means one handed operation s difficult but that's something of a trade off for having a big screen.
Pros: camera and video is brilliant, internet is faster than my old 3G and I kept the same SIM card, phone is super fast, never seen a phone boot up so quick. Web browsing made acceptable due to big screen.
I've had this phone since Christmas and I still have only scratched the surface of what it is capable of doing.
AWESOME
Hey dudes
Im buying a second hand Desire HD tomorrow just wondering if theres anything i should watch out for and also do you think ill like it better than my Desire.
Only thing im slightly concerned about is the battery life but surely it wouldn't be that much worse? Just seems people whine about it alot... No doubt from people that dont own one lol
No, people whine about battery life because it isn't too amazing, not because they don't have the phone. As long as you're expecting to not get more than ~10 hours of heavy use, you should be fine.
Although some of the people I know, talk to seem to not get through the day.
Depends in usage. If light, you're fine. If moderate, if you may be okay. If heavy, probably not going to last the day.

I'd check the battery and sim covers that they're not cracked (obvious) and that they stay in place properly. (My battery cover was in fact so loose that it came off by itself, but I got a new one). Another thing that I would check is the camera lens bezel (the ring around the lens) if it's loose, mine got loose after one month of use and I had to send the phone in for a warranty repair. The warranty stickers on some screws under the covers would also be nice to have in place if you run into some problems with the phone in the future.
Thanks guys. With my desire I'm on 59% at the no after 16 hours with 56 minutes screen time. Running AOSP.
Id be happy if I could have a full day from wake up to bed with moderate use. I'd be charging everynight anyway

I'm on the latest Revolution Rom and I'm a heavy user (including the battery draining Whatsapp). I can make it from 6 in the morning till around 6 PM without charging, so that's pretty good I guess. Be sure to check the sim cover indeed, that it hasn't been bent or something, cause that's the only hardware issue I have on this phone. Have fun with it bro! ;-)
I get about 40 hours with light/moderate use(check my signature for my config)... Check if the phone has any physical damage(sim/battery covers, warranty stickers, if its just scratched a bit on the edges, it doesn't matter much, but ask for a lower price ) and check all the hardware and sensors(camera, bluetooth, wi-fi, gps, rotation, etc...)
Very helpfull guys thanks. Can't wait to get it I've been thinking of making a cool rom for it.

Don't worry over the battery life too much as the same as you I also had the original Desire and I've recently replaced it with the Desire HD. Both phones were running their stock ROMs and I must say that I don't notice any difference between the charging cycles. I'm a moderate user and I charge my DHD every two days, the same as I was charging my Desire before.
Yes, the DHD is a beast but trust me the second gen Snapdragon that's in it is a lot more power efficient and the DHD runs on Gingerbread which manages the background apps a lot better than Froyo, ergo saving power.
What's even more interesting my old regular Desire was with AMOLED screen which has proved to be much more power efficient because contrary to LCD screens it achieves black color by turning off pixels instead of reproducing black color and yet the DHD with SLCD collosal display gets me two days of use the same as the Desire did.
I just had a look at a HTC HD2 today im thinking of getting that now instead lol, the guy wasnt home today with the DHD. What you think? would be awesome to be able to run all sorts.
I'd stick and wait for the DHD in your place...the hardware is newer and superior than HD2
Go for it!! You'll be amazed at the raw power it has..
Just bought the DHD looks mean cant wait to root it (no pun intended) lol...
If you are willing to root, then many roms have better battery life.. With the stock ROM that Telus shipped with the phone (2.2.2), battery life was absolutely horrible. With screen brightness at 33% and juice defender, I sometimes would only get 15-16 hours TOPS. I am now running Virtuous Unity and I am actually able to squeeze two days out of a charge..
Here is my Log between 2 One X devices I had in my possession for a couple of weeks. After trying 13 phones from starting this thread, 11 In store and 2 that I owned - I can confirm, unofficially, the Hardware is to blame, along with terrible internal build quality, and buggy software.
Log:
1st HTC One X - S/N: HT23 - Made in Taiwan - Wed 11th April -
The screen is clear and white.
Flickering in Recent Apps screen, anything dulled in the background, anything Grey around hex value #808080.
Battery dies within 20-30 mins of casual use.
Battery takes 2-3 hours to charge from near 15% or less.
Signal randomly stops, and comes on and is unpredictable.
2nd HTC One X - S/N: HT23 - Made in Taiwan - Wed 18th April -
The screen is Yellow, like a more warm tone, like the warm setting you get on some HDTVs.
There is no flickering at all.
Colors are not as good.
Battery is lasting MUCH longer, full day casual use, isn't dying within 20-30 mins of use.
Battery is charging MUCH faster, compared to waiting 2-3 hours, from 15% or less.
Signal never randomly stops and restarts.
2nd HTC One X - S/N: HT23 - Made in Taiwan - Update Thu 19th April @ 8:10pm -
The Yellow screen and clear white screen is caused, apparently, because HTC use two different manufacturers to make the screens.
The Yellow screen is made by Sharp, and the clear white one is made by Acer which also has better colors than Sharp's version.
1st HTC One X - S/N: HT23 - Made in Taiwan - Update Fri 20th April @ 2:38am -
Updated to 1.28, made no difference.
1st HTC One X - S/N: HT23 - Made in Taiwan - Update Sat 21st April @ 12:52am -
Screen is constantly flickering now.
2nd HTC One X - S/N: HT23 - Made in Taiwan - Update Sat 21st April @ 1:43am -
Updated to 1.28, running flawlessly. But screen is still Yellow. An Update can't fix that.
2nd HTC One X - S/N: HT23 - Made in Taiwan - Update Sat 21st April @ 5:57am -
When booting, the screen changes colour and goes more Yellow! Everything washes out.
Log End - Sat 27th April
So, I gave up, and sent them both back to Amazon. After this, I tried 11 phones in store (Carphone Wearhouse) for my Brother, until we found a working faultless phone - or so I thought.
Every phone I tried had similar faults, including an internet cut off issue, and a network cut off issue. Some had dead pixels too.
And guess what, the phone my brother got, eventually inherited faults, including, what I call, Phantom Touch Screen Syndrome, where the screen is randomly registering random presses on the screen, rapidly, and causing havoc. It's like Sonic the Hedgehog is using the phone at hyper speed. The screen started to flicker on greys too, the Wifi hardware fault also kicked in and the signal kept dropping too. This all happened about the beginning of August.
I'm glad that after a few months, the hardware and software issues have finally been acknowledged. It's sad that HTC would lie outright about it all. I'm glad we have been proven right though.
You are taking a huge risk buying this phone, and I would recommend against it, and settle for the HTC One S or the Samsung Galaxy S3 if you want a compromise. HTC will play us for stupid pretending they don't know about it, because they have a reputation to keep and don't want it damaged. It's a business game, and many company's do it.
Would really appreciate if you could click Thanks since I'm new to posting here, help me get started. I've been using the forum for more than a year though.

My One X has a few issues too, but gladly not something that's really show-stopping. Just some screen flickering, a small scratch on the outer ring of the camera lens and a not-so-awesome battery (3,5hrs screen time is my max, with hardly any syncing going on). I got it on the 4th of april.
I'm thinking of replacing it, but in due time. In a few weeks the production process will be more mature, so all small manufacturing errors that can happen now will be fixed.

Get it replaced or a refund. You'll have to live with the issues that will only worsen no doubt over time.

Looking at how disturbing I currently find this, I don't need a replacement. I can live with it right now. As I said, maybe in about 4-6 weeks, when the device should be completely hardware-bug free in the production process. I am still reading too many stories of people getting new devices with the same or new hardware issues, sometimes even worse than they had on their first device.
I got my 1st replacement HOX yesterday and have had some time to spend playing with it and reinstalling various apps. Here's my thoughts:
On the first boot after charging, I was notified of the new OTA update, which I installed immediately. This brings it up to version 1.28.401.9, which I assume is the same one everyone is being sent OTA.
The screen fit is MUCH better! I sent mine back because the screen was poorly fitted along the top and left side and a particle of dust appeared under the glass after only a week. On the replacement, I can report no easily visible gaps around the screen and it looks to be fitted uniformly all the way around.
This is an odd one. The original HOX had a very smooth, silky feel to the screen and it never picked up a single fingerprint in the week or so I had it. The replacement screen doesn't feel quite as smooth and is definitely picking up prints. I can't give a reason for that, but it's very noticeable.
The replacement gets hotter than the original. I expect it to heat up when playing games anyway with a quad core, but this one is getting quite a lot warmer than the one I had before. Interestingly, it heats up much more when I'm using it while it's charging (via USB or mains). Why would that be?
Images look just as good as they did, with exceptionally bright and even whites all over the screen on startup and everything is crisp and clear in use. No complaints at all with this.
General performance is as snappy as I've come to expect and the apps I've played with do work just as well on this new version.
I haven't tried a few features yet, such as GPS, bluetooth or the camera and will edit this post if there's anything else worth mentioning as I use the phone more.
All in all, I'm very happy so far.

My first one had the clear bright screen with nice even whites too, but it had a screen fit issue, slightly lifted on bottom right and a yellow dot.
Second one seems a great fit but a softer image with a definite yellow tint to it. Interesting to read about the screen differences. Both phones are 23's made in Taiwan.
Interesting to see about the OTA as well, sadly as mine is Three branded I guess it will take longer to get to me.
Not sure what to do on my second phone, not loving this screen as much as the first.
1st one x white ht23 no flicker but some banding and very bad ripple corruption under touch pressure.
2nd one x white ht23 updated 1.28 no screen flicker sometimes abit laggy going through menu's, left hand side of the screen has ripple effect under moderate touch pressure along the side of the screen when crimped between thumb and finger.
will report back next week when I recieve third replacment.
Fyi I got a ht24 with flickering on screen and a dead pixel

anyone else's one x have a dual notification led? e.g it shines through two of the dots vertically

Both of mine have been Taiwan so far and both have had issues, Three are considering sending me a third after I was told on the phone that if I have problems with the 2nd phone I need to tell them within 24 hours or it will need to be sent for repair. I phoned them in 2 or 3 hours and they said it has to go for repair so arguing the point, they are getting back to me on Monday.
Edit: Forgot to add, first phone had a bright clear, pure white screen. 2nd is dull, not as sharp, slightly grainy and yellow tint to everything.

Check your rights with this one. I'm not sure how it applies to mobiles, but consumer law in the UK is very clear about returning faulty products. The law for most goods is that if the item is returned due to being faulty within a "reasonable" time after purchase, then it's the consumer who has the right to choose between a refund, exchange or replacement, not the vendor. Double check that 3UK are allowed to force the issue and make you wait for a repair.

Both are HT23. I updated the thread. Both made in Taiwan.
These problems are all to common to the Taiwan built units.
4 friends and myself have sh23 built phones and not one build issue. Just a random crash here and there.
Try getting a Chinese unit.

Gave up with this phone. Getting a refund for it. My last idea is to port the ROM of the current working one to the flickering one with the good screen and see if it does anything. But I doubt it will. Plus, I'd void my warranty. I Love and Hate this phone...
I'll wait 2 months until the phone is fully working. They clearly released it too early and never finished it.
I have 2 HOX and both are sh23. And one screen is white and the other one is yellow.
I had a similar experience in Australia with Allphones Optus branded stock. I went through 9 handsets (7 in store and owned 2) and all had issues including dead pixels, yellow spots and screen flicker.
I have just ordered a replacement from Mobicity from Singapore. hopefully I'll have more luck with this one.
i opened a new thread because i couldnt find any thread related to my problem.
i am plannng to buy a new phone. as the title of this thread says. i am seriously very confused about these two phones. i dunno why i have this soft corner for one x. i think its because of the classy looks and the screen. also i prefer 4.7 than 4.8. but i read some reviews and i got confused. otherwise ryt now i would have had one x in my hand. the things that is holding me back are:
1) battery issue: this is one of the BIGGEST issue.i stay out in the university from 7:00 a.m till 8:00 p.m(thats when i reach home). i need to listen to music for 2hrs. normal call and txting (NO MOBILE DATA). at max one hour of wifi usage. 1.5 hrs of gaming. or sometimes watch a movie in the free time. (thats very rare). ( 2HRS MAX)
if i do all of these in one day then i hav 10 percent left in my sgs when i reach home.( may be less but not more than 10). can HTC one x handle it? with stock rom and kernel? how much battery does custom rom saves? the pokemon one. I GUESS
2) one of my friend bought one x and said not to buy it cz battery life sucks and phone gets heated very easily and the screen flickering problem. which is obv a main issue for me.but still i dunno y i am so attracted to this phone that i opened a new thread for it.lol.
3) since my dad will be bringing my phone from UK so my physical presence wont be there because i live in bangladesh. so i am afraid of all these problems mentioned here:: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24516940#post24516940
and here:: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26000212
what should i do. once my dad buys it. i cant return in because he wont be going to UK for a long time.
I've had the one x and returned it, go for the galaxy s3. Miles better, you'll only regret the one x if you encounter problems. As standing the one x has many problems, I went through 3 devices only to have faults in each one. It overheated, died in 3-4 hours with constant use, software and design flaws in all three too. Got it replaced with a galaxy s3 which battery life is excellent lasting me over 10 hours with constant use, doesn't overheat, software is fluent and smooth as butter and pictures don't do it justice too as it looks badass in reality. I 100% say to go with the galaxy s3, you won't be disappointed
ok thanks a lot for the views but my question is doesnt htc know that consumers are having all this problem? y dont they do anything? this is absolutely terrible. y did htc did a terrible thing to their flagship. does anyone else have any views?
All the issues that u have mentioned have been addressed by the new 1.29 update..no issues whatsover here..n One X looks stunning n s3 looks awful..
S3 has a pentile display which means it will have black clipping n color banding issues like Note n Nexus..the One X has a RGB n its simply superb..
N the build quality of s3 is really cheap n one X feels really premium in the hand n also to look at..
N if u r into mobile gaming then u will be glad to know that today HTC has been officially certified for running PlayStation suite..that means we will get all PS games on One X..
N there are no build issues too in the new lot from HTC ..
PS: mine is a real early build of March n using it for 2 months n I never had a single issue

Heating n battery issues have been addressed in the new update..n no build issues in the new lot either...don't worry..
Gaming is the only thing that's gonna suck your battery..but that will be the case on S3 too coz these are quad core phones n u can't compare them to a single core galaxy S..

The heating only happens if you play heavy 3D games, and mine reaches a maximum of 46 degrees celcius which isn't anywhere near harmful.
About the usage, I'm getting around 16 hours on my one X running faux's kernel and the pokemon rom. This is with ~4 hours of screen on time on auto brightness (lowered the auto value though since the stock one was waaay too high).
As for 1.5 hours of gaming during this time, don't count on playing really graphically intense games (THD) for that long combined with your described usage. Should be fine with other games though.
Listening to music drains very little battery because of the 5th power saver core. Basically whenever the screen is off, battery time is amazing.
Hope this helps.
Check battery stats thread for result. Charmeleon Rom will satisfy your battery needs.

Try them both then decide.
I've not had a chance to try the SGS3 yet but I've got one on order to be delivered on Thursday so will test against the HOX.
Both are high end models. Both excel in certain features.
Now I'll tell you what I like about my HOX:
The screen, it's just lush, sure blacks are not deep as AMOLED but everything else is sharp crisp and natural. It betters my previous SGS2 and any other phone I've owned. Text is sharp, colours appear natural and whites are white.
The camera, some say hox is better some say sgs3 is better. But I like the HOX camera, it's got burst mode built into the capture button unlike the Samsung and can take upto 99 shots and review straight after once again unlike the Samsung. Pictures are nice check out the pictures thread and make your mind up.
The design, it's a lovely looking phone the matte finish is better looking than the glossy Samsung. But this is subjective and a matter of personal preference.
The sensors are hidden so less clutter on the bezel which is a nice touch.
Sense, I prefer it over Touchwiz especially for Facebook integration and looks more polished and refined than Touchwiz. Again a personal preference.
The keyboard built in is very good but I prefer SwiftKey any way.
It would have been nice to have an extended battery and removeable storage but I'm always near a phone charger so not am issue and 32gb is fine for me. But if these are important to you then go for the Samsung.
Other than the software gimmicks on the Samsung they are pretty much the same sure the sgs3 is faster and such but nothing optimises both phones as of yet. Plus HTC do roll out frequent updates.
I'll post more views after playing with the sgs3 but it'll need to be overall much better than the HOX for my day to day usage for me to move to it. Running Charmeleon rom at the moment and now it's perfect.

Completely meaningless information you posted. No technical information at all just opinion, sounds like your trying to convince yourself And yea playstation suite sounds good and all but you can get playstation emulators anyway as I have on my galaxy s3. And how can you say there's no problems when a new thread opened recently about antenna problems? Loads of people affected. Look for yourself on this thread vs galaxy s3 thread to see which your most likely to get a problem with. I think you'll find it's the hox. My s3 easily lasts a day and a half on stock imagine on custom rom (very easy to root and flash just saying). Sorry but it blows the hox outta the water, in every way. Altough design and looks are subjective, galaxy s3 does not feel cheap nor look it, people who say that haven't even held one I'm their hand. Looks fantastic in my opinion better than hox. Good luck in making your choice dude
S3 overhyped
The S3 is so overhyped you can only be dissapointed.
the HTC xone is the first phone i have seen i 3 years to beat the Iphone 4 which is now defo dated.
regarding the were so high.
battery, granted initially it was terrible but with this 1.29 patch it is fine remember we are talking quad core power.
the graphics on this phone are simply mndblowing and the heating problem i have never encountered, maybe cos i put the upgrade on straight away.
you know if your mates reccomend a movie saying it is the best movie they have ever seen and then you go and then you are dissapointed because the expectations were so high.
Samsung media and marketing is working at full power trying to convince the nation that this S3 is the greatest thing thing sliced bread and us Brits as usual are as gullible as ever. dont get me wrong the S3 is ia greeat phone but if you have an S2 and are expecting incredible things, you will be gutted.
The HTC ONE X is defo the phone to go for but make sure yo put the 1.29 patch on it. Its truly amazing.

Not defending one-x or s3.. but seriously what ever you have written is just theorerical..build/better/etc,etc... one thing.. i never carry my phone naked.. no matter gorila glass or w.e... a cover comes up.. feels safe.. so build/looks.. bye bye.. get an attractive cover..
Camera yeah i agree.. one-x is better.. but tht noise.. and dont even get me started on video recording.. my one-x used to record a high-pitched sound everytime i was on stereo recording..
Actually both phones are kinda similar.. only deal break= battery..
Accept it or not.. its the ugly fact of life.. gs3 juices out MAX 7 freaking hrs of screen time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES YOU ARE NOT BLIND... 7HRS!!!!
as far as the galaxy's i have.. stand-by is ok!...
Stand-by on one-x.. lol yeah true it shows on 100% if you dont use it after charge.. but.. just withen 5mins of phone call.. battery drops to 89%.. kept on standby during the college time for like 3-4hrs
Battery is the deal breaker... go for s3.. go for LG's new phone.. or wait for iSh!t-5.. its all the same.. just if one-x had a beast battery like note or s3.. htc would be giving samsung a banana ride.. (if you know what i mean )
EDIT-: Make the on screen time of s3 to 9hrs41mins.. lol..

Sorry to burst your bubble, but screen on time is not the defining factor.
I've seen users of both, say the sgs3 is not lasting as long as their HOX for how they used their phones. (And I've also heard the sgs3 does last longer for them, so both verdicts)
ALSO we have a HOX user with 12hours screen in time, kinda makes your 9hrs comment look a bit ****ty right?

He just left the screen on. We are proud that we are PS certified and we have better standby time. Just post your standby time here. GS3 cant even lost 1 hour without a drop. And every one admit that HOX looks better and it has better life than it has 1800mah. Wtf you are doing with 2100mah ??? cant even get similar battery stats with HOX.
HOX is optimised well and gs3 is a copycat of HOX!!!
