Hello this is just an idea and I hope someone could comeup with something to do this. Now I know that you can install other 3rd Party apps but I like the idea of the three finger swipe and your video popping up on your DLNA capable smart tv or computer client, but after some googling around I couldn't find anything.
So I was hoping I could give someone the idea to create something like this that would trick the phone into sending data to another device than the MediaLink from HTC. Although if I haven't searched around enough and have missed something please could someone point me into the right direction.
Thank you very much
Steven

Yeah, thats what I meant!
The One X does support DLNA and the music, photo and video apps have a play on function so you can stream to any DLNA device. This principle works fine for my WDTV. Just no gesture which isn't a big deal really.

Any suggestions on how to use the EVO to watch what's going on with our babies in their nursery if I put a web cam or some other sort of video camera in there? Preferably a very cost effective solution and one that will allow me to move the camera to a different room if necessary.
There are apps in the market for this.
Thanks, which one with what hardware do you recommend?

what about QIK? it allows you do stream live videos on the internet, so you can log into a qik account via a pc and see what is going on through your Evo 4g....
correct me if I'm wrong on this

I want to watch using the EVO. I'm sure you could do that very easily but that would be an incredible waste of resources.
Probably an X10 camera or similar. Check out smarthome.com
I wonder if my logitech wilife indoor security system would work with this....
Linksys IP webcam for hardware and IP cam viewer lite from the market is my setup.

I was under the impression we'd just be able to pick between light and dark for the homescreen. Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, the leaked photos from MS's twitter of the LG Optimus seem to have some picture in the background of the homescreen.

Edit: Oh nm, I think it's a reflection.

1st word is definately Media. 2nd word is hard to make out...
looks like (CS)h*d**
The obvious one would be Media Center... and maybe the 2nd word is just at a funny angle. Icon seems to convey the phone wirelessly communicating with a monitor/TV.
Even though that image in the background is probably an illusion...it does look pretty good .
Damn wireless media would be awesome!

I don't have a Zune...but does anyone know if it can be a media extender, like windows 7, xbox, etc.? If it can then I can't see the phone not having the same functionality.
I was wondering the same thing.
I don't see why not.

No, it doesn't function as a media extender. And actually, Windows PC's can't even function as extenders. Only Xbox 360 and the few specific extender devices do. The Zune integration with MCE is actually rather lackluster. If a recording is protected or the audio is AC3 encoded (a lot of HD content), you can't convert it for playback on the Zune (easily at least).
That tile offers something and I want to find out exactly what it is.
It's "Media Sharing"...I'd guess the DLNA feature that's been making the rounds lately.

What exactly can I play with HDMI out? I have some .avi movies that I use arcMedia to play. If I just connect my HDMI and play it will it show up on my tv? Or does it have to be a specific format to play?
As of now, the only things you can output are gallery pictures (slideshow mode only), youtube, and any videos the stock app will play. so your avi's most likely wont play over hdmi.
Does anyone know if you can use the slingplayer app with the hdmi output?

Is anyone working on a fix for this?
Is it just me or did it seem like in the Sense2 'preview' given at the HTC show that someone linked earlier today HTC claimed you could use your TV as a screen for your phone? I believe the quote was something along the lines of, 'what shows up on your phone, shows up on the tv'. They didn't go into any further details, and they were talking about watching videos when they said it. However, if true video out capabilities are included in Sense2, that would be pretty bad ass. Something to keep an eye out for when it finally hits!
You can steam movies from this site (iphonemoviez.net/blog/) and use hdmi to watch on tv (wouldn't let me post full link but I'm sure you guys get it)
I don't think its full ui out yet.. Just wireless streaming of vid and pix...
I wonder though what they using to stream to the tv from the phone.. As well as what requirements the tv needs..

works great
I use SPB TV app from android market. It is able to stream live ~100 inet channels to HDMI. Reviews are mixed though. And it costs 10 backs for android while free for iPhone, WTF. Not that it worth to pay for given so-so quality and the channel selection could have been better.

I have seen this question a few times figured I would post it here .
If you would like to stream the media on your phone on your Xbox there is an app called Twonky Server and it works great. There is a free trial version to make sure if works.

Nice. Not going to lie, I think the one thing Motorola got right with the Droid X (besides build quality) was DLNA certification, sharing stuff with the xbox was so easy. I'm a bit surprised Vanilla Android doesn't include this...
That actually how I found this app in the first place. Liberty 1.5 didn't have it baked in so I used twonky
O!mediashare does this same thing for free without a trial.except I run into problems with some file types.apparently the xbox is very picky about what types of files it can play.unless it is something that has to do with the app itself.

kool that'll enable to play multiple pop up play videos i believe
Thanks, it works but I think it is not so powerful to play hd video and some powerful apps.. for example SGS3 handle HD movie with GTA3, but on Hox with this programm, video stopps.. hope it is because of Samsun original optimalisation player

hmm we cannot though compare just an app with s3's pop up play its ofcourse different and maybe the most advanced one in it..
so as we like open a game or something the software would be configured to be stopped when such happens....
because i guess the app would not be crashing but just pausing/stopping so its already just configured that way, nothing wrong with the awesome htc one x ...
though why would one watch videos while playing games?
still enjoy as now u atleast have a pop-up play! and u can probably do all external things like texting and watching, etc
Why you need to watch video while playing. Guys this is phone and not a monsters. Don't expect more from our phone , unwanted things.

I do not see the point in the pop-up play????
Is this just a gimmick?
This is something you'll try once, then never use again!
You not going to suddenly watch a video then check you email!!!
Makes no sense!!! Just pause what your watching, do your stuff, then come back to watching the video.

Actually I missed this functionality a lot. I like to use my phone on internet and reading stuff more than on laptop but sometimes I just want to play some video or song for its sound (some eduacation stuff) but I hated that It just stopped and I cannot minimalise the video.
But I would prefer to include pop up function to some player like Bsplayer/MX player..
Hi,
i've a another issue with super Video:
smartgpc said:
It is HTC ONE 's video hardware (or driver) bug caused by some video sizes. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX IT by us.
However you can ask HTC to fix it.
You can also change the video size to prevent the issue.

well friend the pop-up play app i mentioned is : Super Video, Floating and Popup .
the one giving you prob "super video" is different and i guess comes only in paid version.... its upto you that try Super Video, Floating and Popup free version first see if all videos are working fine or not in pop-up, etc(however you want to check) if it works well then ur wish to go for its pro version or just stay on the free one?!
though i want tell pop-up play is really good i saw seen people using it while texting, so mayb its 50-50 that people like it alot and some don't need it.. so totally upto them but atleast this feature can improve anyone's smartphone points i believe... like just for fun saying that you show it to a friend without pop-up play he gives 8 point, so what's wrong when he gives 9 points with pop-up being installed and enjoying its innovative features ?!
cheers!!
