[Q] Some advices needed.. - HTC One X

I am about to buy this phone..But while I was going through forums and reviews I saw that many HOX were faulty..I did read the defects and how to spot them at store thread..But I am afraid after reading these articles...Coz buying this beast would create a damn big hole in the pocket and getting a defective one is a very messy job as one needs to get it replaced by company which takes a lot of time.
So I was wondering that is HOX is a good and safe buy??I mean it's no doubt the best phone available in market(SIII is not available here in India) but the thing is HTC has defective units in the market ( As I have read ).
If you all could guide me a bit about it's modding capabilities, the chances that one could land up with a defective one ,how to avoid that which units(manufacturing date wise) have a higher success rate..About the screen issues are those fixed??Is this device laggy, sluggish or any problems faced by you..

It's up to you to take the risk. My dad took it and got a perfect piece

Some people have been incredibly unlucky with lots of faulty ones, but I suspect that the chance of getting a duff one is less than you think.
If I didn't already have one, I would still buy one, but mine is perfect, so...

Agreed. More good phones out there than bad. Perfect phone here too.

My views on HTC One X
One X is best phone with best feature and design, best performance screen color is very bright and clear
But bad battery life, it drain fast with screen on like video playing or surfing internet but it is good when screen of as 3G talking upto 9 hours and 24mn and over while 4 hoursand 18mn for using internet and 5 hours and 45 mn for video play

Just read the other thousand threads asking the same questions.

If you decide to buy or not based on xda forum then you can't buy any phone
Any device forum is filled with similar complaints and issues, so if you like a phone just buy it.

I also got a faultless one! I would really buy it if I were you! I'm very happy with the device!

Get the X now?

Is it a good plan to get the X now? It seems many people are having problems with the X atm. Was the tegra failure? I really want to use Android revolution HD so One S is out of the question.

EDIT: Thanks for all replies, I now realised that this is very good phone and will go for it very soon

my phone is running just great..can't tell you any problems as i don't have any!
Most of the complaints you're seeing right now about the phone are the people itself. I haven't had any problems with my phone, absolutely love it and running ARHD on it.

And don't forget that a couple of samsung spies are among us, let you think they changed 6 or 8 times their One X because always faulty.
My poll showed 1/3 of One X have flickering bug, and many people with non-flickering screens are not voting, so let say you have 20% chance of having a flickering on grey screen and 10% of having flex (the other poll)
Just try the phone before buying
100% of people with a faulty phone will join a forum to research and complain about it.
1% of people without faults will join a forum to tell everyone how good their phone is.

lol i find this samsung spy thing really funny.
I'm on the 4th device now, still got that damn flickering, wouldn't mind being a 'spy' as i'd probably make a lot better wage than i'm on now.
however I'm just a perfectionist, and i'm not going to accept a device that isn't 100% (hardware-wise) working perfectly.
Yes of course, people who have no problems won't post on every topic but those with problems will Thanks for replies, I will get the One X

the samsung spies theory is ridiculous. I'm awaiting my second device and if it has screen backlight flickering I WILL write that it has backlight flickering and I WILL change it again. Most people don't even look for flaws as they love to spend money for the sake of spending money just to show off that they have a new expensive gadget or like apple fans or religious people they wouldn't dare to criticize their deity. I don't care about status at all, I'm only interested in having a 100% flawless phone and I am fully allowed to expect that with a phone at this price.
My only problem with HOX is the darn battery witch drops by several % every minutes when in use.
(Got it on monday)
Don't worry dude!
It's same with all the HTC I had (Nexus1,DHD and Sensation)
Playing games or watching videos will deplete battery in no time, the screen is a power monster

They may not work for Samsung but people will come on other brand forums to give the other product a bad name. I used to use a PC forum and any thread about AMD always got derailed by people going on about how you should use Intel instead or Apple if you used Windows.

Go to Samsung service center ad you will come to know how many hardware issues, screen issues and heating issues Samsung customers are facing. People are spending their hard earned money on their favorite gadgets.. don't missguide them just to prove your brand loyalty..

Thinking of selling iPhone 4S for HTC One X

Hello Everyone,
I would like to say that I was 100% sure that I was going to sell my iPhone 4S for the HTC One X until I came to the forum and saw some of the negative posts about it. Now I have owned Android phones before (S2, other HTCs etc.) and the first thing I will be doing is unlocking the bootloader and flashing roms on it. From what I have read here is that there were some issues at first but updates have been released and most of those issues are gone? Would you guys recommend me getting it considering the S3 will be announced soon? Mind you I am a fan of HTC Sense and now that CM9 is being released I cannot see what the S3 can offer over the One X...
Back to the point have all the issues from launch been solved and you guys would recommend it?
Thanks for the help .
I've recently started properly using this forum mainly because I have just got a One X and have the flickering issues. There is absolutely no definite indication at all that flickering issues have been resolved for starters. Nothing yet to indicate that it can be fixed by firmware or not. I'm considering returning mine and waiting a few months and getting a One X again only after that period. It's a great phone, but you might want to let the teething issues get out of the way first, that's all.
Remember that not every phone has issues... Only those that have issues complain, rare for people to join a forum just to say they are happy.
Take a look at iPhone forums.... Read through posts there of issues.... Would that put you off getting an iPhone?
Just to say, my handset is fault free as was my first other than the low signal issue . I took the first one back purely cos it was branded and was too impatient to wait for three to release the latest update that addressed the signal issue.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I really do not know what to do because I will be buying it from a person in a local deal so I cannot return it or exchange it at a store... You guys are saying the screen flickering issues is actually hardware and not software?
i haven't experienced any issues with my one x. mine is unbranded sim free. picked it up off ebay brand new. screen never flickers, although i have seen some people talking about this.
Screen flickering issues aren't as widespread as the forum posts would indicate. People who have problems shout the loudest.
I'd go for it, worst case scenario and it flickers just get HTC to send you a replacement.
I've been an iPhone guy for a while and have tried multiple android devices. The One X is my favourite so far vs my 4S. Mind you mine is the LTE version. My biggest gripe is the WiFi issues but I think should be fixable via updates.

I'm still waiting to get my HTC one x. How is it? I'm chompping at the bits for it.
What wifi issues you experience?
I got a free one x and have my 4s on craigslist.
This phone has some nuances (quad core gets hot baby), but the screen still gets me every time even on dim. I'm in love with android as I had only owned iPhones till now.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Also no issues here, as they said above,it's the people with the faults that shout loudest, it's exactly the same when buying a new tv etc, people leave bad comments who have the worst trouble it's common sense as I'd never go on a site after buying something am happy with and splash my gratitude at the product, but on other hand if I was having trouble I'd love to get on the site and slate the product am having trouble with... Anyways back to reality, I'd recommend the one x over 4s any day but it's all down to you whether you want to chance getting a faulty one x !

I love iOS and still do. I miss my iPhone 4S and I loved my GSII. Anyways, the One X is a really good phone if you can see past the dismal battery life. That's the only thing bugging me but hopefully in time it should get better with updates. GSII is still the best android phone for me. Would I say buy this? Yeah I would its a lovely phone, and as much as I love the iPhone, the screen is too small. Wait and see what the GSIII offers first. If you can't wait then you won't go far wrong with the One X.

Yeah I am meeting someone and selling my iPhone tonight... Unfortunately for Canada it seems that we will be getting a dual core version because LTE does not support quadcores... I might just wait another day and see what is revealed about the S3. Personally I hate the iPhone, screen is too small the software is outdated things take much longer to do than Android... The only good thing about the iPhone are the apps and thats it.
S3 won't be quad core either in the Canada.
I love my One X
I have decided to buy the One X but I am undecided if it should be white or the glamour tray hmm...

white, it looks stunning, you wont regret taking a white piece
Definitely white, it suits the silky smooth phone
The grey / black One X seems to show up scuff marks more than the White version from what I've seen posted on here. Personally, I'd go for the white version.

Grey! White is for iPhones! Although, I will admit.. if I were to ever get a white phone, this would be it.
I was a long time iphone owner, but when i saw htc one x white one i just sold iphone 4 and bought one x. Screen ,performance plus android 4.0.3, its extremly fast it blows my acer iconia a500 away. Only thing that needs to be improved is battery life, its good for talking but big screen eats battery very fast usually i get two days of usage with screen on 3hours

I think i'm done!

Posting in this section because posters on this form have experience with both the S4 and the Tegra 3.
Currently I own an HTC ONE S. I love the way it looks and feels in the hand, the screen and battery life is decent and when its working correctly its lovely and fast.
BUT
I hate the chipping issues and there is no official word on a solution for the black version. The Internet and signal is sporadic at best jumping from 3G to HSDP+ and often not working at all i'm also getting soft resets when browsing the internet. I also hate that it can't play 720p youtube smoothly.
I'm thinking of complaining to 3mobile and upping my tariff and swapping for a HTC One X (international with Tegra 3).
I'll get used to the size and the added bonus of extra storage will be nice. The battery concerns me a little. In work I always have access to a charger so thats ok. But at weekends when i'm out and about just using the phone for the occasional call and text and nothing else am I likely to notice a huge difference between the S and the X?
Would you make the change if you were having the same issues as me? I've had two ONE S's both with the same problems so its not just my phone.
There have been no updates for the S whereas there have been at least 2 for the X. Also the ROM scene on the S isn't great with not many releases and I was hoping to learn how to do that and have some fun tinkering.
What would you do?
Thanks for any help in advance.
If I were you I'd go ahead and get the One X because you seem to want more power to play 720p smoothly without LTE and after reading the Battery Stats thread (which includes the One X international version), I came to a conclusion that the One X has pretty decent battery life. Though I'm already biased because I literally can't sleep at night because I'm thinking about this phone, I would still recommend it over the One S also because of screen size and quality. But before you pull the trigger and get the One X, you should ask around the forums and see if anyone else is using the unlocked international version of the One X on T-Mobile and if they're experiencing similar issues.
they said they changed the process of the one s, so idk exchange it for the one s, if it doesnt work go to the one s!!!!
but i think your meant to post this in the international one x section??? yes no idk
Wrong forum, this is the S4 One X(L) section.
That being said, the S4 version is still a fantastic device.

current One X owner, it eats h264 for breakfast and plays 1080p videos flawaless im surprised the One S can't play 720p, tegra games and the SLCD2 screen have to be seen to be believed
however we have serious list of random build quality defects right and there is a high chance you might get a defected unit, i made a poll and 28% out of 600 voters had a defected unit

My advice: get rid of them and move on. Why stick w something that gives you so much distress and then feel unhappy?
That being said, if I were to get any of them, I'd stick around since they are such nice phones and I cant imagine me using Android on any other brand Sam*cough*sung*cough.
But again: it's just a phone. Dont like it dont use it.

Please don't be misleading when it comes to defective numbers, its natural that when people have defects they come search on a forum like this and when nothing is wrong they don't.
Also after years of reading these forums its clear that out of the thousands there is always a few ocd who nit pick at things that the general public would never even notice as build defects.
My One X is fine btw It's the longest I have ever gone without rooting and installing custom rom, I think because I really enjoy the stock speeds and sense UI re design ^.^

Dust would drive me insane! The chipping issue on the ONE S is not good at all.

I believe the defective unit rate would be more like >10% (Still bad), Remember people like to complain more than they like to praise, hence why you'd see a disproportionate amount of negative results.

Whoa, thanks revoked! That's pretty harsh, lol!!
I'm with basil3...to any of us here, the most minute little inconsistency will drive us mad and we will post and ***** and moan about it all day long, but to most people, such things don't even compute. It's the same reason "most people" buy iPhones...they just don't know any better and any old POS will do.
Fwiw, I also have a perfect OneX. Still stock and brilliant in every way. I also find it difficult to believe someone would keep going back to something that they found defective fifteen times...
get the XL if you are on tmobile..if you buy the international version you will be stuck with edge unless you live in an area that tmo has refarmed their 1900 spectrum to handle 3G (which I doubt it)

Help Needed....

Hi all,
My situation is this:
Moved from Sensation to i4s 3 months ago (didn't want an iPhone, but the bundle deal with the new iPad meant I got the iPad for free and I really wanted the iPad)
Can't get used to the proxy 3.5" screen, so looking to flog the iPhone and sign up to a cheap contract for either the One X or S3. I fell in love with the specs and looks of the OX as soon as it was announced, but now the tales of battery woes, screen woes, etc etc has left me wondering what to do.
I have done hours of reading, and it seems the S3 is the faster phone, but the looks of the OX are in my opinion ahead (also looks more premium I feel). Screen is a toss-up in terms of quality, and comes down to amoled or slcd.
So all you folks who have the OX, if you were in my position but knowing what you know now about the phone and the upcoming S3, what would you do.....
Order the OX, free phone, £21.50 a month, phone with in 3 days.
per-order the S3, free phone, £29 a month, 30th May ( or maybe after).
I won't use the contract at all so what it comes with doesn't matter.
Help a man out please guys.....
Thanks
Stokie
I had to do the choice (but I bought my HOX off contract) between HOX and S III, too and I chose the HOX because it looks better and hasn't a pentile screen
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
I would chose the One X, but then i haven't had any problems at all with mine & i often get 36 hours or more between charges.
The One X does look better & in my opinion as its unibody it will be stronger than the SGS3.
Still its down to personal choice.
I also picked unbranded as you get updates quicker.
hard to say my friend.. i was in two minds as well...if you are a fan about specs then the S3 is the one for you. if you are after a phone with better user experience then One X is the one for you..if i had a choice what to choose id go for the S3 just for the pure reason it is easier to root and easier to flash kernels, modems and roms. It is hard. I am only saying the s3 due to the fact i had the s2..but the one x has potential it is really what you are looking for..both phones are great and whatever you choose you will not miss out
Thanks for taking the time to respond guys.
HOX ordered in White. Hope I get a "no defect" handset!!

Should I return my HOX and buy an S3 ?

Hi everyone!
Well, i just bought a HOX, and it has 1 dead/stuck pixel an one "hot pixel".
Its not a big issue, i can live with it, but im really worried on getting worse problems in the future, like the loss of signal, wifi, etc.
While my original idea is to keep the phone because i really like HTC sense interface, and the phone itself is pretty quick, im still in time to return it and buy an S3 instead.
I payed a LOT of money for this phone (i bought it factory unlocked) and I want to be 100% sure that its a good inversion, as I dont frequently change my phone (im gonna keep it 2 years at least).
What should I do?
Thanks for reading!
Try dead pixel fixer app from play store.
Also the majority of one X users have no problem, i had a yellow spot problem, htc fixed it free under warranty, no wifi issues, and nothing else after that, its really your own decision. As you have posted in a HTC one X thread
we are bound to tell you to keep it as we are biased towards the device we own, but it is a great device, screen is better than s3.

My main concern is about the probability of the device having major problems in future...
The major issues such as screen, wifi, 3g signal and things like that, tend to appear in the very first use of the device or they appear after some time?
Sorry for being so repetitive, but i really want to be sure that im not going to have severe issues with the device in the near/long future, mainly because as I live in a "Third world" country, I have only 1 week of warranty (the warranty that the seller/importer gave to me). There is no official HTC support in my country and if i have to send it to USA for RMA, it would cost really a LOT of money. And as I said before I paid a lot of money for the device (about 5 times the price you get one new in the USA or Europe).
Thanks again!
I bought HOX few weeks ago and not experiencing any problems (which are not normal).
I unlocked the phone via HTCdev.com, flashed recovery, and using ARHD.
I guess it's newer, and those problems already fixed by HTC, I don't think you can suddenly get low signal issue if you don't have it now...
My phones part ID is SH24L i think its relatively newer.
Whats your part ID noamsch6 ?
Thanks!
Yes, buy an sg3 plastic phone and miss all tegra 3 games
How can we know what will happen in the future. Cmon.

Thanks for reading!

hi
im sure u have warranty go back get it fixed or replaced and enjoy
i got this phone for the looks besides its HTC no offense to SG3 but i just fell in love with this phone and got it with the kind a development u have here u will enjoy it dude mine is around a month old i have rooted and all and im using a custome rom iv had no problem what so ever:good::laugh:
No.
Personally I would swap it for the S3 if you don't do much gaming as above comment suggested.... It will keep its value longer too I reckon.
I had one x for 2 months and was really good phone, quality of screen is awesome, fast, good camera, no problem at all with hardware issues. But now i bought s3 blue color, and i just feel good with s3, its really amazig in all aspects. Runing JB, s beam, s voice, motions are really fantastic, and rooting process is really fast and good with samsung. I knew it becouse i jad s2 before. Its just my opinion but: s3 wins for me. Better in all things for me.

That's not what the guys who came to HOX from the SGS3 said. LOL

I just got an s3 for my sis and I'm really glad I have the HOX. Owning the S3 is the same banal experience as owning an s2 and note, it's boring but feature packed. Screen is nothing compared to the HOX and speed improvements are marginal at best.

Lol, like i sad its just my opinion, I had both of them, and i didn't want to say bad things for one X, i liked one x till i got my S3, and was the best phone till i got S3, my Hox was rooted, runing Arhd, everything was good with Hox, Ok battery and overheat was not good. and one thing was terrible, I use to much MHL, and need with subbtitles, and if you Run MX player or whatever with Software Dec... your phone maybe will start burn
If you want a stress-free experience, I guess you have a better shot w samsung, not saying that Samsung's quality control and customer service are great. Otherwise, keep it and pray for the best lol
The s3 will have problems just like the hox and all new top spec smartphones for its down to HTC build style and the screen is better stuck with the hox
