buy HOX in Amsterdam - HTC One X

Hi!
First of all, I hope I'm in the right forum...
If this is not the right forum for this thread, please move it.
I want to buy a white One X (int.) in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Someone know where I can buy it there? I want a store that will let me open the device, and check there are no build issues, and a low price. (If I'm right, I should get a 16% tax refund because I'm a tourist from outside EU)
Thanks for helpers!

The phonehouse should have unbranded phones and proper DOA services, but they are expensive...

i got lost in there site... didn't find the one x on the search.
someone knows more stores?

if you are staying in Amsterdam for a few days, order it online. there aren't many shops with the hox in stock except maybe as mentioned the phonehouse but they are expensive. I ordered mine from midi media, cheapest in the Netherlands (only e513 including delivery) but the phone is Vodafone branded .
check this site: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/

i would be there for only 3 days.
but it will be in 2 month, you don't think it will be in stock?
EDIT: does midimedia has a store in Amsterdam? if so, what is it? (i cant read their site, and google translate dont want to translate it )

I went looking for one this week and the shops I wanted to buy from (ie. were not much more expensive than the best internet deals) did not have any in stock. Maybe you can place an order and check out the phone. I can recommend mycom, I bought many product from them, tried them out, decided I did not like those products and got my money back without hassles (even after opening all the packaging)

i cant order from the internet to israel, because when it will get here ill have to pay at least 16% tax.
and midimedia is much cheaper...

have it delivered to your address in amsterdam
also the new government in holland (already dubbed the butt **** coalition (sorry mods, that's what the new coalition is dubbed)) decided to raise VAT from a whopping 19% to an unbelievable 21% , so you will likely have to pay even more. Why not get the device back home?
(edit: vat probably won't matter a lot because you might get a refund, okay than preorder it from mycom to get it from the store of your choosing)

bought my white One-X at Belcompany in Eindhoven, no problems with the phone, build date 28 march 2012
in the stores, they're always more expansive than online

First of all our vat is currently 19% rather than 16% as mentioned. I got mine from marktplaats.nl (like Craigslist), brand new in an unopened box from a guy that got it with his corporate renewal for €400, not kidding. You'll have to go pick it up at someone's private house though and be prepared for some haggling.
Make sure you call ahead and ask if the seller has the receipt that states the imei. If it doesn't, leave it as it's likely stolen. You might still be able to get the vat back at the port of exit if the receipt is recent enough (most people that get a renewal put the phone on marktplaats the same day they get it). Make sure the receipt doesn't state the buyer's name, which it mostly doesn't.
Good luck. I get all my phones this way, no problems so far. We're a pretty decent and friendly people ;-)
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium

sorry im bumping up this thread....
i want to buy from MidiMedia.nl , someone knows if they have a store in Amsterdam?
it is very cheap there! only 400 eur (=1900 ILS, here in israel its 3008 ILS (=623 eur)!!!!!!!)

bought/contract /best deals

as some one who is about to take the plunge and get a TP2 im wondering how people purchased them and what deall they got
if im right they cost £504.85 including vat
best deal to suit me on contract is voda talker £30 + with mobile web
500 mins, 100 text (dont text that much) and unlimited mobile web 18 months @ £34.26 + £616.86
now for that the phone comes with no branding and unlocked, so why just buy it then get a contract is there something i am missing
so whats deals have people gone for and why
thanks for any input
Vodafone 1 year contract, 27.50 € a month, + Unlimited Online Blox
I need to pay 286 extra for the TP2, total is ~650?
Not too bad. Because the the TP2 alone cost 600€. So I can call 200 minutes/400texts a month, for around €50 a year
And I'm getting a free 16gb microSD card from the e-tailer I'm buying it from. Great offer if you ask me.
Best deals I could find
Hi there,
I posted this on a different page but this is probably the best place for it...
I'm currently talking with T-Mobile and they have told me that they will be getting branded handsets in at the end of the week, personally I prefer a sim free version but it looks like it will be possible by next week to buy them on the network with a lovely discounted rate.
Handtec are selling the phones at £502.40 inc VAT
As I'm a fussy git I've managed to wangle an upgrade through Carphone Warehouse so it will be fully unlocked, sadly they dont have them in stock yet so I will have to wait until the end of the week :-(
For anyone who could do with this phone on a new contract on T-Mobile/Vodafone I urge you to check out www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk as they are doing some amazing deals, I couldnt help but drool, I would recommend the Combi 30 + package, £25 for the phone and £35 per month with web and walk thrown in and a shed load of free calls and unlimited texts.
I hope this info is of use to some of you.
UPDATE - I have cancelled my old T-Mobile contract and gone for the Combi 30 + Web 'N' Walk deal on www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk as it seems the best way of getting the phone with a very useful tarriff.
Cheers guys
Terry

Neckermann!
I was doubting if I should buy it there, but thought that it would probally end up in paying 600 for it. As the price is now 599 but it was indeed 440 before.
But it is a pretty sweet deal you got there !

Hi,
I to ordered with neckerman and have a "confirmation" e-mail for the 440eur. I got no mail as to the price being changed or my order being canceled. I however also did not receive any unit yet nor did i get a shipping confirmation.
I'm pretty sure there is no way to hold me to a higher price.. the other way around however..
How / why are you so sure you will get the unit for the " confirmed" price.. there is some small print discaimer for wrong pricing.
I'd be interested to get my order definitively confirmed to...

Thre are a lot of people who asked confirmation from neckerman (in a dutch ICT forum: tweakers.net). It seems that all people who have paid already using IDEAL get it for the prize they paid. People who asked a transaction form (accept giro in dutch) still have to pay 600 or get their money back.
The product is available in the Netherlands since today, so I expect to receive it pretty soon
(the fact is: people who used IDEAL closed the buying agreement by paying.)
got mine from MPD
£25 for the phone and a 18month contract with vodafone
£34 500 mins 100 text and unlimited web (which is what i want it for )

help/advice please
i am planning to buy tp2 and saw this but it looks too good to be true. the listing says that it is single camera version. is this a true/original htc touch pro 2?
has anybody seen a new tp2 as cheap as this? the seller has good feedback but still i want to be sure and hence seeking advice here.
Looks OK to me. I bought my TP2 from a UK based ebay shop 6 months or so ago, cost me £170 brand new. Mine is the US T-Mobile version, same or similar as the one in the listing you're looking at. There is no front facing camera on these models, also a few other differences to the EU phones, but they are genuine TP2s. Be aware though that any screen protectors or cases you look for will have to be for the specific model that you are getting, the UK ones will not fit, usually. I found a flip case & screen protectors for mine but had to buy from abroad, took about 6 weeks to arrive. As for the device, I couldn't be happier with it, flashed a custom ROM from this forum & all working 100%. Hope this helps, & if you go ahead with the purchase enjoy your new phone!

are other specifications same as any other tp2?
why would other screen protector not fit? is screen size/shape not the same?
Yes, aside from having no front camera, all other specs are the same. The screen protectors won't fit because the hardware buttons and speaker are different. Also the USB port is moved a little on the carrier specific models I think, so some cases may not fit properly. The T-Mobile version has a different colour scheme and provides access to the SD slot without removing the battery cover.

Where did you get yours?

Hi all,
Just out of interest and for any future defects / issues.
Thought I would start a poll on where you sourced your Rhodium.
Would be intersting to see how this develops, I'll start another later in the week to record poor customer service and another to track defects.
Those of you that select other, could you please post in the thread to let us know where (if you don't mind telling) you sourced it from.
Cheers,
Beasty
Whilst mobilephonesdirect seemed quick and efficient with the ordering process, their '3 months free insurance' is a pain in the rear. I already have adequate insurance through my LloydsTSB bank account (nice perk), not to mention my home contents policy also covers it, even out and about. MPD make it hard to scrap the insurance, or make it easy to forget somehow! If I forget, it's £6 per month direct debit. Now I gotta go through the cancellation process and explain to their sales team that I'm already covered and I'm happy with it, blah blah...
2 FROM Clove UK.
best price around and next day delivery from UK to channel islands for £10.
and...£25 voucher .
MPD
very good service and next day delivery. customer service was good so overall was happy. i use online banking quite alot so once DD for insurance is set up i will cancel. 3 months free is good actually but not needed if you already have cover
i got mine from MPD i seen the 3 months free insurance on the bill but nothing about having after that or a charge
whats the crack do you just phone up and cancel

In Montreal, at www.cellengros.com
They're quite a bunch of crazy fellas, but they do deliver. Mine arrived a week late, tho, they said problems with customs. But all in all, they have great service when you're friendly, if not, well you're screwed.
Seriously. These guys are crazy I tell you. But you should not have any problems. They always delivered when needed.

Faria,
What's the deal with this £25 voucher of which you speak?
Can that be used to reduce the cost of TP2, or do you get it after purchasing to spend on next purchase?
I'm VERY close to just buying a TP2 without contract so I can stay on my current O2 simplicity plan. But it ain't cheap! £25 less might just seal the deal...
Do people reckon that the outright cost will drop when the networks start to offer it on contract?

Hi Orb,
Glad to see you are still hanging around here.
I doubt people would be too happy to advertise how much they much they paid for theirs. I had mine on pre-order from Expansys for £500, but canceled it when MPD released their deals. I ended up paying £24 for the device on a 18 month contract with TMob, £35 / month 700 minutes, unlimited web and texts.
Others feel free to advertise what bargains / deals you got with yours too.
Perhaps for future devices, if we have enough users that are interested in Sim free deals, we may be able to negotiate a decent discount based on bulk orders from one of the suppliers.
Take care my friend
Cheers,
Beasty
from handtec.co.uk ..... international shipping to Qatar
total cost with shipping 475 str pound = about 783 usd
I got mine from talkthisway.de - unbranded version in combination with a new contract with t-mob.
Usual it costs there 559€, about 782 USD
Got mine in Holland from smartphonestunts.nl with T-Mobile subscription extension. I guess the prices in Holland are about the same with most (internet)stores, since it is still very new, but I got a free car usb charger so I decided to go for this one.
By the way isn't it strange that there are some people that take the time to vote on the poll, but give the answer "not telling"..... that seems a waste of cpu cycles to me.

Where to buy Rhodium without contract in UK

Where can i buy Rhodium without Contract in UK. I buy HTC touch HD without contract at Carphone before but just wonder if i can buy Rhodium there too ^^. My house is quite far from it so i dont have time to go there to ask -_-
Not sure where the best buy is at the moment
Check places like Devicewire, Expansys, Clove, and Handtec I suspect they will be cheaper than Carphone Warehouse. There was a thread here about prices, but not sure if it's still active.
Good Luck!
Gordon
Hit google with the UK only radio button. There's 1000+1 places to buy from. I got mine from launch at Amazon.co.uk
The good things from carphone is u can go there to check if there is something like dead pixel on the fone before make decisions.
Last time when i bought my HD there it took me only 450 GBP for the fone while i checked at clove it was around 500 GBP -_-.
#3: I know how to search man -_-
Try eBay.
oh man ebay is not different from the other online site. If u buy it and u get smt like dead pixel on the screen u have to send it back -_-
I got mine from http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/ £434 on voda pay2go. For some reason it was cheaper than simfree. Phone is not branded or locked as using with my 3 sim.
That's a pretty good deal from mpd ... only problem I'd have with buying from them is that I've heard nightmare stories about people having probs with the phone, and mpd won't have anything to do with them...
For Sale Touch Pro 2 - Vodafone Branded
I currently got a touch pro 2 on vodafone as an upgrade but the wife had already bought me one offline.
So it is up for grabs for £375 plus £5.00 to cover royal mail registered post.
cash to be paid ia bank transfer or paypal. If paypal used then buyer to pay paypal charges.
How about handtech which advertise on xda forum. I found it quite cheap only 438 with simfree
the problem with a lot of uk sites these days is their quality control. i always buy sim free and hate it when the "new" phone arrives in an opened box, factory screen protector half off etc.. they do a **** job of putting it all back in the box after "checking contents".
i used to buy from Play but their prices aren't competitve any more and no confirmed despatch date.
try King of Gadgets. all their stuff is factory sealed and there's a really good bloke over the phone who wont muck you about.
good luck.

Thank u very much ^^ . And about handtec ? Do u have any info about them ?
no experience sorry. but I'm always weary of low prices. I think with them you still have to pay a fair amount for next day delivery. over the last few years I've learnt the hard way there's no such thing as a bargain
i've just chatted with them online and they told me that i don't have to pay any fee for nextday delivery but the problem for the dead pixel is. HTC only accepts to replace fone with more than 3 deadpixels -_- .
Handtec sell brand new and sealed phones but they are gray imports meaning no automatic network settings and detection and probably some warranty issues. This was the experience I had when I bought a Kaiser from them and when I returned it and asked for a UK spec, they simply sent the same phone back to me in a UK spec box (lol). I returned it and did a charge back when they started trying to act funny. Devicewire sell UK spec phones at the most competitive prices in my opinion.
Seriously boss. You can buy from anyone of these sellers and if you're not happy, dead pixel or otherwise then you can send it back with no obligation citing distance selling act. The common vendors like expansys, amazon etc are all good for it. Pick someone whom you trust and pull the trigger!
thank you very much. Maybe i will try with clove.co.uk kkkk

Desire availabilty in Hong Kong?

Is the HTC Desire available in HK. I will be there from 12-14th of April and Im really hoping to get it then. The legend is already available but no news about the Desire.
Not sure but try either the top floor (entry level) of Wan Chai Computer centre or the places around Sham Shui Po. If you have never bought electronics from HK, you need to be aware that there are two prices - one for HK stock (usually pricer) and the other for grey imports from China and Japan. Warranty coverage for the latter is done by the shop, so if you have a problem you will have to send it back to that shop. That being said, HTC probably wont provide warranty coverage outside of the country of purchase (according to one of the other threads).
Thanks for the advice. My iPhone was bought in Shenzhen so no worries about warranty. I have been coming to HK since last 7 years on business. Buying most of my gadgets there. I was only concerned regarding availability of the phone in HK as cant see it mentioned anywhere in any of the forums or Google.
I've checked out WanChai just last night actually and there's no sign of the Desire.
Good news is, because of the current favorable exchange rate with the GBP, you can just do what I do. Order overseas from Clove! I'm expecting mine to arrive in HK on Monday. And even with shipping, it's cheaper than it would be when it goes on sale in HK.
A friend was 4 days ago in HKG and he found it somewhere in Kowloon.
Sorry, i've no more details and no price tag...

I will try to the same as I will be in Hong Kong a couple of days after you.
I have bought HTC devices several times in Hong Kong and never had any problems.
The computer stores in Wan Chai and Mongkok are your best bet. Look around though do a bit of bargaining.

I cant order it to HK as I will be there only for 3 days and also cant order to India as then too expensive after paying import taxes. N1 is around 4500HKD in Mong Kok if Desire is same price or lower it will be ideal. I will look around Mong Kok and Sham Shui PO. Also Kowloon ( Thanks to Atomicman). If found and bought I will inform on this forum immediately.
I've been looking around for the Desire in HK too, so far nothing. Most of the shops either say they don't know the release date, or "maybe next week", which is the typical answer when they have no idea.
The latest from the HK forums (using google translate) is that HTC HK has said they're not sure of an exact date, maybe in June. The consensus is that they want to give the Legend (out March 31st) some time to sell before releasing the Desire. I'm sure grey imports from the UK will start to show up soon, but at a premium.
Not sure if it'll be cheaper than the Nexus One, since you can get an N1 directly from Google for less than $4500, so their price in Mongkok just includes a small mark-up. The Legend is $4180, down to $3980 in some places, so I reckon the Desire will be at least $6-800 more than that to set it apart.
Based on all that info, I also ordered from Clove today.

Ordered on March 8. Already shipping. Expecting it on Monday.
So slim to zero chance of getting a desire in HK before 14th April? So what do you suggest I do buy the Legend or N1? Please advise as Im quite eager to buy an android phone now. I will be able to change it only after 6 months so have to live with whichever phone I buy till then.
ohyeahar if you feel like selling your Desire let me know ;-)
@sickboy888
I got your PM and was trying to reply, but you've disabled receiving of PM's. You might want to look into that.
Finally bought the Nexus One as couldn't find the desire and cant with for an android phone any longer. I'm in HK till 15th Morning so if any one knows of a definite place where desire is available here do let me know. I don't mind buying that as well. Can always sell my N1 on Ebay in India.

Well to TBH you can buy it at Clove at a cheaper price...but what happens if your phone breaks down ? You won't be buying a round trip ticket to UK to just fix your phone... (Rmb the warranty for HTC UK is 2 years !!)
They include a one time FREE deliver service to UK center to repair the machine...and afterwards they charge you $200 only.
Just like ordinary HKers time is important...hehe

That's a good price actually. If you consider the price difference between the Legend and Desire in UK and that the Legend's retail price in HK is 4199, I'd expect the Desire to cost about 4389.
That is a good price considering the phone isn't available in the usual shops in HK.
Regarding the warranty, according to the spec on Clove the phone comes with a 2 year International warranty, so if anything goes wrong you should be able to get HTC HK to take care of it, right?

how do i import desire from UK to INDIA ???

hi guys, i started a new thread few days ago for the very same fact that i wanted to know whether handtec/clove technology can able to ship htc desire from UK to INDIA....
they said they will be mailing the parcel with international courier. they also warned me that once the parcel leaves their office for delivery to my address, they really can't control if any customs duties are applied once the parcel enters indian borders.... i am also scared that customs officials might take some bribe to give my parcel.... this also couldnt be confirmed from the company side selling this product that it will not happen like that....
thats the sole reason i am very much apprehended to book online... bloody india... it will never ever mature... people r so sick... being an indian, its a shame for me to tell this very true fact.... i hate to be an indian....
sorry for going off topic.... i wanna know for sure that desire reaches me without any problem from UK to INDIA once i make purchase online from either handte.co.uk/clove.co.uk.....
kindly anyone throw some light on this issue.... even local courier people are not aware of the fact that it will be delivered for sure....

they said they will be mailing the parcel with international courier. they also warned me that once the parcel leaves their office for delivery to my address, they really can't control if any customs duties are applied once the parcel enters indian borders.... i am also scared that customs officials might take some bribe to give my parcel.... this also couldnt be confirmed from the company side selling this product that it will not happen like that....
thats the sole reason i am very much apprehended to book online... bloody india... it will never ever mature... people r so sick... being an indian, its a shame for me to tell this very true fact.... i hate to be an indian....
sorry for going off topic.... i wanna know for sure that desire reaches me without any problem from UK to INDIA once i make purchase online from either handte.co.uk/clove.co.uk.....
kindly anyone throw some light on this issue.... even local courier people are not aware of the fact that it will be delivered for sure....

Did you ship it with a courier like DHL or the regular Airmail? DHL are almost guaranteed to pass it through customs but airmail depends.
Nice to see that you are ashamed of your own country you idiot!!! Ever thought of paying the damn customs duty because you ARE SUPPOSED to? Morons like you keep putting the country to shame. Grow up and be responsible for what you owe to the country.
Now that I have it off my chest, either you can get it imported from outside and leave it to destiny how the phone reaches you; ask someone you know abroad to buy it and get it along for you or wait till its launched in India so you can LEGALLY buy it by paying the full amount owed for the phone .... And please keep your anti-national drivel off these boards the next time. Hating your country is sooooo 1970s!!!
I've shipped quite a lot of expensive stuff, and normal stuff to India, mainly Chennia but also to Pune via couriers such as DHL and it's always got there. Post / airmail is a different matter - I just wouldn't trust it, for some of the reasons you mention. In my experience as long as a good courier is used then you will be OK.
Clove etc are quite right in not being able to guarantee delivery to you or custom charges, these are completely outside of their control. Importing stuff into the UK can be the same - sometimes I've been charged, sometimes not, and that's without trying to dodge the import tax. You should expect to pay the import duty and add that to how much to plan to spend on the phone if you want to get it before it's sold in India.
As the previous poster seems to suggest there are legal restrictions preventing you importing the phone then you may want to think twice or get someone from the UK to buy it for you and send it out.
India's not such a bad place there are plenty worse.
P.S I understand you're frustration, I know many people that feel the same as you.

You're guaranteed to get it on time with DHL. They don't mess around. The only thing is that I am almost certain you will have to pay customs unless the depot is lazy.

i think you are proud about the GREAT system in india & i must appreciate that people like you are making this country as it is at present now... ever wondered why india is still a developing country with standards not at all comparable to most other countries ????

i think i have right to express what i feel. this is a community forum & it has several members...and moreover india is not urs only... it belongs to all of us who are residing in here...moreover, being a citizen of this country, i have legal right to express what is good & what is bad in this country, which is an effort to improve the standards which are prevalent in this country as a plague & not in any way to degrade the value of my own country....
i hope i have conveyed what i meant by those words to you now.... stop judging people so impatiently, dont jump to conclusions right away buddy... nobody likes here to listen to the preachings from other members unless they r so morons to do it intentionaly... got it ???
keeping my responses to ur false allegations aside, i have mentioned it clearly in the post that is there anyone who has imported a parcel like mobile phone from UK to INDIA. i was expecting answers from people who have done what i was asking for, not that we r having a debate about the system/conditions in INDIA....
waiting for a genuine response from a valid members who care to help me rather than preaching me how to behave on public forums. i hope no one expects such treatments from other members... i assume all are well behaved and well educated here... thanks for giving me an opportunity to express my views on this issue...

I would assume it to be the same as people found when trying to import Nexus Ones and iPads to the UK. When they could be bothered, the customs charged them the VAT and some got it through without paying the VAT. I am sure I have read it on one of the other forums that a guy shipped a Nexus One through DHL from US to UK and the DHL guys asked him to come and collect it as he had not paid the VAT on the phone.

I really couldn't tell you. I know DHL charge a small fee (€4 over here) of their own if they have to collect customs charges but since i've never been to India I can't really tell you how much you'll pay in customs.

thanks buddy... i will try ordering it tomorrow.... lets see what happens at customs. i will pay extra 2.5k INR if the customs officials ask me.... what to do, i need to compromise to get the things what i want right ???
Sure I mentioned this to you before, but here we go again. I ordered mine from Clove and shipped it with their express to Pune. They Use Fedex not DHL. I did get my parcel within 3 days. It had been opened for customs check, but nothing tampered with. Did have to pay around INR 6000 on delivery for the local delivery service and the Customs duty fees. Good luck
