to avoid being locked out of the secure element i reset my info in the google wallet app before i wiped my phone
i redownloaded the app and went through the initial set up...this time it gives me an error when i am trying to link my citi card to it...the same card worked earlier so i know it works
is there a waiting period or something between resetting the info and re-adding the card? i reset the app like an hour ago...wiped and re-flashed...maybe i have to wait?
can anyone who has done this please chime in...thanks
Have you already updated the app?... Seems like theres a new update for it could be the reason.. And as far as i know your info should be there as your card its linked to your account and thats in the cloud not in the phone

when i logged in with my google account the info wasnt just there...i had to re-do the entire set up...
also to note...when i selected my gmail account it attempted to log in and it said the password was wrong...i had to manually type the password to get it to log in...i dont think that happened the first time i did it (when the credit card link was successful)...idk if that makes a difference

have you ever reset it and had to re-add your card?
No, i cant add cards since im outside usa but i got cards registered in the website wallet to be able to buy apps in the store.. So no matter if I wipe my phone the cards are always there, same as your contacts, pictures, everything should be restored.. Try a. Factory reset, backup your stuff and try again

yeah...i have my citi card linked to my gmail account because ive bought apps from the playstore...funny how there isnt a correlation....the app acts separately...when i log in to my gmail there is no card attached in the app but when i log on to google wallet from my browser my citi card is there
i called citi and they put a ticket in and told me to wait 24 hours and try to add the card again...they said that they saw that the first time i ever linked it it was successful and they arent sure why i can't add it again...after 24 hours, if it still doesnt work they want me to call back
I have a ticket open with Citi Bank for the same reasons. I will not let me add the card again. I have wiped the app before and never had a problem. The person I talked with at CitiBank said there was a problem on their end and would not be fixed till Sunday night. They took my info and would call me back. It apparently thinks the card is still active in the system and will not reauthorize it. They have to go in and delete it but it cant happen till Sunday..... I hope so anyways.

ahh ok...it makes sense that the issue is on their end...its not a secure element issue because i reset it before i flashed anything...not that im glad to that you also have the same problem, but im happy to see that my issue isnt isolated
also...you said that you've reset the app before right? in the past after you reset it, you were able to just simply re-add it again? my first link was successful and very quick...just wondering if its a simple process to reset and add
i guess ill have to just wait out the weekend and try it again
if you happen to get it to work please post it here...i will as well
Actually, they told me same thing last Friday (the system will be back until last Sunday)... and the issue was not revolved until now...

tried to add my citi card again this morning...still had an error
not sure if it has anything to do with it, but when I moved to a different ROM i used mybackup pro to restore the apk and data of google wallet. I had all kinds of problems and could not get it to work correctly. I assumed it was due to me restoring the data with the apk.
I uninstalled the app, re-installed just the APK and went through the setup again and have not had any issues....

Verizon - Can't add cards
Wallet just started working today for the first time in months. I upgraded to 4.0.4 manually on May 25th, but for some reason on reboot today, Wallet initialized. I cannot add a prepaid or a Citibank MC - phone gives me an error. Any thoughts?
i totally forgot to wipe the wallet data before rooting/unlocking/flashing/etc and when i loaded a new rom, wallet still worked perfect! it seems sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to wallets behavior.
This is still not working for me. It's been about a month now. I called Citibank twice, first time they told me to call back after the weekend. I called about two weeks later as I didn't have time earlier. That time they claimed the problem is new and they've only known about it for a week, and they're working on it!?! After some clarification they claimed that adding a citibank card was a new problem, not re-adding after a factory reset.
I had a yakjuxw 4.0.2 Gnex, everything worked including google wallet, but changed the rom to takju 4.0.4 when I got pogo pin docks. I am not rooted and have not been rooted. Google wallet asks for Citibank to be added, and it seems to be going through the same process as originally, but at the end it gets stuck, then tells me "unable to add the Citi Card card, please contact your issuing bank or try again Citibank, N.A. contact number 1-800-842-6596".
Well after the calls to Citibank, this is obviously not getting me anywhere, so I'm not sure what to do. I have the backup of my yakjuxw 4.0.2 rom, would putting that back on the phone help? Or is this a google issue and should I be opening a google ticket?
Sorry, I'm totally lost. I didn't even know about the secure element possibly getting blown by a factory reset until after I couldn't add the card back in, and it turned up in some searches. Could that be the problem? Any way to fix that?
Thanks to anyone that can offer any advice.

Since nobody gave you a fix for this here's mine.
I just experienced the same thing after doing a RESET GOOGLE WALLET from the SETTINGS option inside Google Wallet.
I called Citi and they told me that they have to put in a request to have my card unlinked from my (i'm guessing) Google Wallet account.
She said that it will take 24hrs and i should be able to add it back after that.

i gotta go see sprint, i have ins. and rooted but i just odin back to complete stock. no longer rooted but if they simply went into my market, they would see how ive purchased apps like root explorer and titanium back up and setcpu. will i now be turned away because they saw i was obviously rooted? can i fix this, maybe delete my google account or something?
side question, how can i restore data (contacts and calendar) without root? i did TB and CWM backups before i odin but dont see any backup and restore options in three finger boot,
They're not putting you on trial, they aren't going to go out of their way to look for evidence of root. If you're on the stock rom, theme, boot animation and recovery they won't know anything.
Factory reset and don't associate your device with a Google account. Or create a new account and link it to your phone so that nothing syncs up (primarily the market apps).
Or use Titanium Backup Pro to "unlink" those apps from the market, then uninstall TB.
Though I suppose that having apps which require root does't mean that you are in fact rooted. The ignorance defence should be adequate here, but why risk it?
Tell them you use that same account for your tablet..
thanks guys! i didnt even think of that quick! thats a great idea. im going to create a second google account. it will be the one ill use and log in on my phone for those times i need to go in.
may require a lil work at first but will be worth it in the end. ill download a few games and what not for that account, tweak it a bit but when i dont plan to see sprint any time soon ill go back to running my main google account. with all the rooted apps logged. ill see if this works.
can contacts be saved to my computer via usb? i returned to my old set up atm, rooted and all so i can try to save my contacts somewhere else to bring back after i odin again. although this is all a b*tch, im learning a lot

There's quite a significant security flaw in Google wallet at the moment.
Going into application settings and then clearing data for wallet is the same as resetting wallet from within the application, without having to enter a pin. Know what that means? You're able to set up a new password and have access to your prepaid card.
That's right. If a tech-savvy thief has your phone and you don't have a passcode on the lockscreen (possibly because Google's implementation of passcode stuff sucks) or the screen hasn't timed out yet, the thief will have access to whatever funds remain on your Google prepaid card, regardless of the pin you set in the application.
This is yet another reason why Google needs to add the ability to lock out INDIVIDUAL applications with a code or face recognition, not just the friggin' lockscreen. If someone gets your phone after you've entered your lockscreen code/pattern, they have free reign over the device as long as the screen is on. Third party software for this purpose just doesn't work very well at this stage. This functionality needs to be integrated into the OS. Sorry for going off on a tangent.
Basically:
1) Go into application settings
2) Clear data for Google wallet
3) Open wallet and set it back up
4) Everything remaining on your Google prepaid card can now be used.
That's a good point I don't know if Google wallet is supposed to more secure than a credit card.
If some one steals your wallet, what do you do? Suspend any transactions for that stolen card. Just do the same with the cards you have on Google wallet.
Or I'd just remotely wipe the phone , so they have none of your information on your phone .

Any actual cards that you add to Wallet will of course be removed, but the Prepaid card will still work. How easy would it be to suspend transactions with Google?

You have to have a passcode to use the wallet feature. I am not following this at all seriously.
To use this application, you have to get into line, make sure that your screen is on when you get to the counter and then make sure you put in your pin #/Passcode before swyping.
The only way for a thief to get access is to take your phone while its in your hand and the screen is open but then also if the screen shuts off, the application closes and you have to input your pin #/passcode again.
Try it.

You can reset the application without the passcode. Once that's done, simply open it up, set it up with a new passcode and you have access to the prepaid card immediately.

try this:
open clear google wallet data, run google wallet again.
it will prompt you for new passcode and link it to the google account on your device.
of course, all the credit card info is wiped, but your google prepaid card can still be added without passcode, so whatever remaining balance you have on it will be usable by whoever activate it

That means anyone who gets your phone, even while it's turned off, can follow these steps to remove whatever pin you have set. They can then set up Google Wallet with their own pin and add your prepaid card with all its funds back onto the app and start using it.
To be safe, you'll need to set your lockscreen to use one of the other security types such as pin, pattern, or password, and then hope nobody gets ahold of your phone while the phone itself is unlocked. I don't find face unlock to be very safe at all so I won't even recommend it for protecting Google Wallet funds.
to add some other failure of google wallet...somehow ur wallet gets registered w/ ur device...or that's how it looks like...i had a nexus s w/ wallet fully functional and about $12 left on the prepaid card...bought the GN and gave the NS to my wife...fully wiped the device, reinstalled the wallet and activated w/ my wife's account...guess what she got my remaining balance and when i activated mine on the GN i only got the $10...but to be 100% fair it could be something related with the fact that we're not really supposed to have this running on our phone...so might be something related to that, since my NS was on t-mobile and not sprint...hence i was running a "not approved" app...

Nope. How would I go about doing that? Knowing Google, even if we were to inform them today there wouldn't be a fix for at least a month.
Still can't believe that after three years they haven't got a solution allowing you to passcode protect individual applications in the OS. Dumbphones could do that back in 2004!

No surprise there, then. Thanks for the link. Hopefully they'll fix it by Q2.
MIUI had a sweet security app based on individual apps. I would lock down my games cause my boy liked to get in there and press buttons aka delete my saves.
I don't know what process it would involve to port this over. But it would be a welcome one.

I guess I just don't see it as big of an issue as you do.
I mean if you lose your real wallet you have to track down the phone numbers to your credit card companies and call then all one by one. It would be easier and quicker in this day and age to find an internet-connected device.
All my friends and family have internet-connected devices (smart phones) so I could change my Gmail password faster than I could call one credit card company, get through their phone system, get a live person on the phone and cancel the card.
When it comes to money, credit cards or any thing being use as either of the two there will always be flaws that someone will try to exploit. And with this flaw it can be correct/stopped by the end user within 5 - 10 minutes.
But seriously good find on this!

That's true, I was trying to look at the worst case scenario. The flaw itself is pretty serious, but the consequences wouldn't be that great yet. I've only heard of one person who had over $100 on their prepaid card, and I think there are extra measures in place when purchasing larger items? Not sure.
But something as simple as this certainly needs to be fixed before NFC payments go mainstream.

I agree it is simple and does need to be fixed. They could make a quick fix by having each app that is based off our Gmail accounts require the Gmail password re-entered when an app is setup and not just ask permission.
I recently restored, locked, and went completely stock again to test out a few things and I have realized that the device no longer automatically sends my apps to the phone as it previously did. Is there a setting in the account im missing or anything I can do? Its a pain to have to go download all of them one by one
Yeah, i have this problem aswell.. Anybody knows what's up?

Dude.. ya think that most people don't know that?
I have the same problem. Did a clean wipe and fresh flash today, and suddenly Google Play is not syncing my apps anymore. Does fine with the contacts and everything, just not Google Play. Note: this is on a Galaxy S2, not a Nexus, but I figured it would be good to know for everyone that this does not appear to be a Nexus issue, but a Play issue.
I've noticed it depends on what Rom you use. When I was on the more stock roms it always did it but now that I'm running aokp it doesn't.

My C2P stopped working too. I switched to Chrome2Mobile (I think is what it's called) extention on my desktop, it works again and that ext lets me send links to my iPad too.
i only ever remember this working with gingerbread on my ns4g. from ics on, the restore feature has only been good for wallpaper and wifi passwords
I found a potential fix
I want to preface this by saying I wasn't having the same problem as you all are having when I log back into my google account after flashing my apps start downloading. My issue is that after it started I ended up in area without service(subway) and then half of my apps failed. I didn't feel like clicking each and re downloading them. The only thing I could think of was signing out of my google account which supposedly wipes your info and then signing back in to restart the sync and it worked for me so try it out and let me know if it works for you all. If it does please Thank this is only like my 2nd post here.

OK so I had an instagram account get flagged and banned. This happened before about 2 months ago but all i did was make a new account with a fake email and it worked. I know iphone users have to go switch thier phones or do a factory reset at the store or something. So i thought i was good. Well now it seems the program knows when your phone is YOUR PHONE . Even if i had another account tha wasnt banned I wouldnt be able to get in. So i tried changing my Android Id with Titanium Backup Pro and it didnt work. That led me to believe it is the MEID i have to change maybe.......
Im not sure but i really do love instagram and i honestly think HATERS are flagging my pics because none of them are complete nudity and if its close its more of a photography/artwork nudity then porn ...
any help would be appreciated even suggestions .. lets work .. and thanks in advance
You could contact the instagram admins to find out why you got banned and if there is an appeals process to get your account back.
Or you could take your lumps like an adult and accept the fact that you violated their t&c.

but im not worried about getting my account back..
but it basically banned MY PHONE not my account .. bc i had more than one account for business purposes and now i cant sign into that one on this phone
ive been banned and all i had to do was make a new account ... i know iphone users have to factory reset thier phone or take it to the apple store ..
ive factory reset , flashed a different rom, use titanium backup to change android id ... used a paid app to change android id ..... nothing ..... this is retarted of them as a company why not just delete the account ... what access did they have to ban my entire phone .. HOW DOES IT EVN KNOW ITS MY PHONE

Lol Thanks .. i dont know what it does but I got my phone to be able to accept accounts. Im not 100% sure but ithink it puts a file called .profig.os on your sd card root so it can know that its your phone but i basically formatted my sd card and ODINED to fc19 and signed in with a different gmail for the initial setup
so it either has to do with the gmail u use with the inital setup and the market

but thanks for the tip anyway bc i would of been SOL if i changed my MEID probably
Yes it's the profig that is the one doing that I just kept deleting it every time I logged in thanks very much for this and God instagram sucks for banning both accounts even tho I only did "immoral"stuff on one

I recently have the same problem. Hoping someone can shine some light on my situation. I feel like I tried everything but get a new phone. I was in the process of using Titantium Back Up Pro to change Android ID but came across this thread. Then what I did was clear data for instagram then removed SD Card then reinstalled Instagram but still says my account is disabled. I even changed my android ID removed my current Gmail account made a new one and then installed Instagram all with sd card out and still says im disabled.

It's an Instagram issue that must be taken up with Instagram support.
Rotted Users.
Here is a fix for instagram banning your device.
ROOTED USERS ONLY!
Step 1 : Find a none stock rom or a different rom from what you are useing.
example : Stock LG G2 rom to AOSP
Step 2: Flash the new rom no dirty flash complete wipe.
Step 3: Create a new account with a new email.
Step 4: http://www.bluestacks.com/ i request downloading this VMWARE type of android to create your instagram account.
Never had an issue with this app doing this before, but here we are. I've made sure my number was correct, and even added the Messages app to MagiskHide (which I've never had to do before). It still is stuck. Eventually it gives up trying to verify, but tapping the button just repeats the same issue again. Any ideas?

It's really annoying I've had this before. What I did I'd clear data cache in the messages app restart phone then do same again delete data cache then open messages app and try again. If that fails then you have to turn chat off for 7 days don't try turning chat on within the 7 days otherwise it resets to 7 days again. It's a right pain in the but.
I wish I had a answer for you. I was having the same issue on stock, switching to global, switching to eu, etc. Just a couple nights ago I installed magisk and no modules and left my phone alone for a bit (maybe a hour?), When I picked it back up I had 10 encrypted messages I couldn't read come in from a friend that must have came in over the past couple weeks. It was just random.

Seven days?
Seems excessive. How/where did you get this length of time?

That's unfortunate. Have you ever had this issue with any other device?

Not that wasn't cleared up with a wipe data/cache and restarting the app.

I tried Dale's suggestion, clearing data and cache and rebooting the phone. After a minute it popped up the message "enabling chat features, we'll let you know when it's ready." Checked the settings 15 minutes later, and it said "Trying to verify..." STILL but the button to manually verify was usable.
This sucks.
This had happened to me ever since I got the phone and since my carrier is Verizon, It didn't work right out the gate and tried so many different solutions.
then I read that it could still be linked to your old phone so i put my sim card back and then turned off features and then popped it back to the OP and then just left the messages app run in the background and then it suddenly said chat features enabled.
I don't know if this will help you but it worked for mine.

I turned it off on my old device (doesn't have service anyway). Still no dice. Ugh!!
I've had multiple issues with apps not sending OTP codes or being able to log in completely, and I even think I've had the same issue you are having when I had "dns.adguard.com" set as my private dns setting. Also, if you use AdAway, that could cause the issue. For some reason I have to disable AdAway to use the Amazon app. Weird.

If you have some sort of vpn running, try disabling it and activating chat features. For me it won't work until I turn my vpn off.
is Google carrier services app is up to date on your phone?

Oh yep, in fact I had another thread about that. Turns out the new AdAway seems to inadvertently block a lot of things. Try adding "*amazon*" (without quotation marks) to the whitelist. PayPal was another I needed to add to the whitelist. I also added Google to see if it'd work for this, but nah... No such luck.

No VPN in my case, that I'm aware of.

Yes. I did find it disabled, oddly, so it's enabled and up to date now. Matter of fact, I even installed the latest from APKmirror.

Thanks for the Amazon tip! I was trying to figure it out for the longest time. Even tried the hard way of adding it a long time ago. Just got used to disabling it to use the app or using Amazon through a browser.
It always takes a minute for my chat features to be enabled. Whenever I get a new phone, I always get the message saying "chat features are unavailable for this device" then after a few hours/days, the pop up says that they're ready. I think I leave Messages open in the background. Never had to disable it on the previous device. T-Mobile user here.

Sure thing, glad I could help. If anything, though, you should thank @terlynn4 for that whitelisting suggestion.
In my case this has been going on for a good few days. I've done websearches and researched all the possible causes and solutions I could find, but nothing has worked in my case. Yet. I think the main issue is that I'm not getting the authorization code that Google sends via a short-code service text or whatever those are called.

Usually when I don't receive the code, it's because AdAway or private DNS settings as stated before. But since you're not using any of those, I'm not sure what else would be preventing from sending the code. Is there any way you can use the Messages for Web feature, bring up your messages on PC, send the code that way and see if it comes up on the web?
I had the exact same issue as you, the issue was that Verizon still had my old phone associated with my account. Verizon support asked my for my iccid (16 digit number physically printed on the sim card), and after they associated it with my new phone I received the backlog of all the sms from short codes that I had missed and rcs verified after 15 minutes and a reboot.

LMAO, was that what it was? Funnily enough, now that you mention that, that might be the case for me as well. I had recently jumped from a OnePlus 7T to the 9 Pro, and everything had transitioned smoothly, other than this.

I could give that a try, sure. I do have access to a PC/web browser.

I don't think it did. Or would. Still no message on either end. Something isn't allowing it to be sent in the first place, it seems.

I had the exact same issue on verizon, but with a globel version. Wouldnt recognize the phone at all. After calling, they pushed me to tech support. Because the phone isnt in their system, the guy had to take an IMEI from another CDMA-Less phone, and enable the CDMA-Less feature. Then he put my IMEI back. Rebooted, and got 2 days worth of texts, and chat features enabled instantly.
The guy said there's a chance that "cleaners" will comb through accounts and reset it, but if it happens, I just have to do the same thing again.
