How to troubleshoot an app that does not autostart? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have an app that autostarts fine on three other phones. On the GN, it does not.
It is registered to start on phone startup, new outgoing calls, app installs, etc. When these events occur, the app does not start (or tries to start and fails).
I couldn't find any related errors using a logcat reader.
Is there a way to troubleshoot this?
Thanks.

Problem with Twitter App

Hello,
I'm having a problem with my Twitter app. Every time I go into it, it's attempting to log in, and I'm unable to cancel the login attempt or do anything else other than leave the app via home button.
I can force it to close, or at least, my phone tells me so, but I when I restart it, it still attempts to log in.
Even after shutdowns and restarts this issue persists.
I have recently rooted my G2, however, this problem was occurring before the root anyways.
Does anyone know a possible way to fix this?
PS. I'm new to the whole smartphone thing and rooting scene (1st phone and 1st root) so, any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
EDIT: I've chosen to just delete the app via Titanium Backup. Reinstalled 1.0.5. Problem gone. So much for restoring stock 1.0.4.
Tweetdeck is way better any way to be honest

I had the same issue. Go into settings, accounts and sync, click on the twitter account, then remove the account. Go into applications menu under settings and click on twitter then force stop. You should be able to log in again after that. Haven't had any problems since.

Push noification/GCM not working

I've encountered a strange problem which I can't figure out.
It first came to light when I tried to enable push notifications in the BBC News app, which kept coming back with 'push registration failed'.
I thought this was just the app playing up, but I downloaded a different app which also is not able to register with GCM to register.
I've tried disabling my google account, then logging in again but no change. Rebooting the phone also has no effect.
Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks

I was just playing around with Greenify and noticed that the Xposed Module has a feature that will keep apps hibernated, but allow push notifications... Do you have this enabled by any chance? Could be causing the issue.
Also; is your phone rooted? Any mods?

Problem with Deepsleep

I decided to use the "Migrate" application to transfer my apps between ROMs more easily. But I noticed that after I used it, WhatsApp stopped being always active in the background to notify me of new messages, and worse, did not receive the message, it's like I force it to stop.
I believe it is the "Migrate" application that caused this condition. Is there anything I could do to solve this?

Anyway to keep Google Phone app from being disabled at boot?

I have the unlocked model LG-G820QM running Android 10 software version G820QM20a.
I'm using the Google Phone Dialer app instead of the default phone app. It works perfectly fine and can be set as the default app. However it is disabled every time the phone boots. I'll see it on the screen for a second and then it's gone. I have to go back into the play store to enable it, add it to my home screen, and reset it as default every time.
Has anyone else experienced this or know of anything I can do to stop this from happening?
Hmm... wonder if adb disabling the LG phone app (com.android.phone, or maybe there's a more specific package for this?), then installing the Google Phone app would work. Disabling the LG app may cause some pages in About device to not load (i.e. Network information), but it's easy to re-enable, so if anything goes wrong you can go back.

Thank you sk8223, I gave that a shot.
I used Application Inspector to track down the stock phone app name and then ran this command.
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.android.phone
While that did stop the Google phone app (com.google.android.dialer) from disabling at boot, it broke phone functionality. I kept getting a pop up that com.android.phone keeps stopping. Trying to use the Google phone/dialer app wouldn't connect. It would let me enter the number, but then clicking the call button just caused it to reset.
I also tried disabling the stock Contacts app com.android.contacts, and that didn't solve anything. I tried combinations of both stock phone and contacts disabled. One of each. And the same with the Google equivalents.
You're probably right about there being some link in the chain that I can disable to solve this, but it seems there are quite a few dependencies baked in to the phone applications, that I'm not sure which service I could disable to let the Google app work without the actual phone functionality breaking.
Interestingly enough I couldn't re-enable either the Google Phone or Contacts app from adb after reboot. However I could navigate to them in the Play Store and click enable there. Then checking the disabled apps list in adb showed they were no longer there.
That's weird, you should have been able to adb pm enable the apps again without issue. I think LG's heavy skin over Android is affecting the way the app is supposed to work. Probably because the stock LG Phone app is labelled com.android.phone when it really should be com.lg.phone... which is probably why upon reboot the phone app keeps reverting back. Stupid LG. Wish a safe BL unlock was possible so we can get a nice AOSP ROM on the G8 already
tl;dr don't think this can be fixed because of LG

Question gmail keeps crashing on S22

Howdy!
I have been generally happy with S22; however, there is one small persistent problem I am facing every day. I use the Gmail app a lot, and every day I write emails and keep them in my draft folder to continue writing/modifying at a later time.
When I access draft versions of my email in my draft folder, my Gmail keeps making my screen freeze or crash. I used to use a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and I never had this issue. And to my best, I kept the setup identical between the two phones.
While troubleshooting, I went in the safe mode, and there is no lagging, screen freezing, or crashing occurring with the Gmail app. This probably tells me it's the system components Samsung or I added that is causing this issue.
I'd appreciate it if anyone has an idea as to resolve this issue.
Thanks!

If the issue is not happening in safe mode then that indicates it's likely caused by 3rd party apps or a setting that was set by either you or an app (very likely 3rd party app).
Reproduce the issue or when it happens again, submit error report to samsung members app > get help > error report.
Samsung engineers will be able to look into and help with figuring out what is causing this issue.
My guess is that it's Google's issue.
I had problemas with Deezer, whatsapp and photo editor. All of them freeze and then crash when accessing the same functionality. Reinstalling apps solved the problem. Very strange.

Try to clear Gmail data and cache, uninstall update and then update Gmail again. It works for me with Samsung photo editor
