Happy Friday Fellow Xperia Play Owners and developers!!!
While perusing trough the development section for xperia play devices I was looking at a couple of things I could do to my Xperia Play when I got an idea.
Would it be possible for at the home unlock screen, instead of a pattern or code unlock, would anyone be able to develop a Game Pad unlock?
For example, Cheat codes.
I've grown up on PlayStation enough to memorize up, down, left, right, left trigger, right trigger, triangle, cross, square, circle to unlock a cheat code. Could the same be attempted for the xperia play?
Let me know what you all think

But, would you want to open the gamepad every time that you want to use your phone?
Sent from my R800i using XDA
If you just don't set up a passcode/pattern, you can already unlock the phone by sliding open the pad while it's still in standby. If the phone is already turned on and showing the slider, it won't work though
Well I've never really had success with opening the screen with just the gamepad, I just thought it would be completely attractive to have that kind of option.

This is a cool idea! It could be a really good security feature because almost nobody would be able to guess the code and realize that you have to use the game pad. I'd probably set it to be Yoshimitsu's turning sword suicide from Soul Caliber 2 because it would be ironic that you must use a very powerful move that could kill you if you miss or you don't get a ko. I might also do up down left right a b start from Sonic 1 because it was the first code I ever learned. I might also choose to do a simple haduken because you can't go wrong with that classic right?

That's exactly how I feel, and in term of getting it done the question is how?

Hi guys. I don't know about you, but I'd love to play a little game while the phone boots up.

Me too, would be great if one of the techies could some up with something...
it's like me saying : i want to make a phone call while it's booting up Lol
You two are taking the biscuit
Not necessarily, some resources are dedicated during a boot to run an animation sequence or soundclip.
BUT I think at best it would be something akin to the Wii progress bar where you make Mario jump as he runs across the screen.

the title of thread : Interactive :means he wants to play a game or something while the phone is booting up.
bootanimation: you can't interact with it
you can't interact with the phone ,till when its fully booted
We are merely assuming that the current code during its boot sequence blocks any input whether from the display or hardware keys. We are further ASSUMING that perhaps a limited interactivity could perhaps be unlocked via new code.
You've made your stance perfectly clear on this so why bother trying to undermine what others deem to be a potentially novel feature?
There's actually research to support that end-users are much more patient when waiting for a download or load time if there's some form of interactivity involved, thus making the initial wait seem all the more shorter.

A game could simply be a key input to correspond to a rough graphic blob. Pop the weasel.

I think a shooting game with 'trolls' would be good...

You can interact whilst its booting up. Take ChainFire's logcat and dmsg apps. Whilst booting you can tap the screen to change which one you want, split, logcat or dmsg. Whether or not it's possible to have a game who knows but nothing is impossible.
Swyped...
Hello, I just downloaded the demo apk for Minecraft (a 3D building game}, BUT, it's only for xperia play. Using the "Virtual trackball" app, it successfully emulated the D-PAD, and one button. That button Is used for jumping, but since it auto-jumps, it's kinda pointless. The 2 important buttons are missing. Jump and put. My question: Can we somehow, emulate, those buttons? Of course, via root.
Thanks!
Swyped from my HTC Desire.
I am looking for this too. I've been able to get directions as well as jump, squat, and cycle through blocks (via a dualshock 3 hooked up bluetooth to my galaxy 10.1 tab) but it seems the only way to truly get it to work is to somehow fool it into thinking it's a xperia play pad somehow.

Oh sorry
Next time i'll read more carefully
I keep searching for the official playstation games in the market of my Xperia Play and I can't fine them at all? But when i search for them from my web browser on my PC they come up but they say that "This Item is not available for your carrier"?? They were last night, I bought one from my phone?? Any reason why this would happen?
Open playstation pocket and there will be a search button at the top right. Just click it and there will be 7 official psone games to buy.
Sent from my rooted R800a 2.3.3 BL locked
Thanks that helped!
It took me a week to find that lol, they need to make it a little more obvious IMO

Now I'm having the problem again!! Everytime I click on the search button in the Playstation Pocket app it shows all the available PSone games but when I go to buy one it still says that the Item is not available to my carrier?? It was available last night now all of a sudden there all not 0_o
Edit: Nevermind I just restarted the phone and all is well again.
I've been an Android owner since the first myTouch 3G. I've owned and loved/hacked/modified both the 3G and myTouch 4G... I've played with IPhones and Blackberries.. And I can tell you the T-Mo SGS2 is the definitely the phone for me.
I'm running the stock ROM, rooted with SuperOneClick (zergRUSH exploit). I unlock my phone with facial recognition (Visidon AppLock Pro, in combination with WidgetLocker) and it works flawlessly. I'm running Wave Launcher which allows me to choose from multiple apps instantly with a swipe of the finger, LauncherPro Plus which cleans up stock home lag and offers endless customization, Sign (paid) which allows me to call/text anyone instantly by gesture, Minimal Reader Pro serving me multiple RSS feeds in a scrollable widget (so I always have my most important news constantly), LPP Facebook scrollable widget with the feed updating every five minutes, the coolest weather app ever IMO (BeWeather), the list goes on and on.
All this on a huge, vibrant and bright beautiful screen (yes there are good screens, not everyone gets the shaft and there are a LOT of very picky complainers) and the best part?
This phone flies. I mean fast. Not to mention I get between 14 (minimum) and 20 hours depending on how heavy my usage is.
Maybe I have some freak phone/battery and I got lucky. Maybe I know what I'm doing and some don't...
I'd be happy to help anyone who wants their phone to perform like a champ.
I don't use custom kernels. I'm on the stock ROM. I took the time to make this bad boy perform like the supreme phone it is, and honestly I couldn't be happier.
Trust me, get this phone. I'll help you hook it up!

Cool story bro lol not trying to be a douche haha I'm also loving the heck out of this phone. I've had so many phones but the gs2 just blows them all out of the water. Oh and thanks for mentioning the face recognition app and sign I checked them out and decided to download them they're awesome!

Thanks for the info! I switched from Sprint a few months back and traded my Evo 4G for a Vibrant. I'm running MIUI. At first I loved this phone, but I have yet to get GPS truly working which apparently I use more than I thought. I didn't buy a phone when I switched because I was waiting for the GS2, but it took so long to come out that I'm now interested in the Galaxy Nexus, but who knows when/if that'll come to T-Mo.
Now that I've waited this long, would you still recommend getting the GS2, or waiting for the Galaxy Nexus? My patience is wearing thin though. If I were eligible for the Magenta Saturday discounts I would jump on the GS2, but it's for new Unlimited Value lines only. Any advice or thoughts?
for RSS i prefer Feedly https://market.android.com/details?id=com.devhd.feedly&hl=en
it makes fund again, like reading a Magazine, but in your phone
it has a build in Black screen mode for SAMOLED+ screens to save battery life
also comes with a widget

Craigslist?? Other option is if you're eligible for a renewal on your contract..you can consider getting the phone at the subsidized price & pay cash for it..
If that was the case, I'd just sell the Vibrant on craigslist and take the cash to put forth on the GS2
I ended up selling my Sensation to get the GS2 and am very happy I did

i downloaded visidon applock...what is your workaround for the home key? i thought i was clever and made the app block GO launcher so that when you press the home key is still prompts you..unfortunately it doesnt work, it still unlocks..what did you do

you have to be using WidgetLocker
In WidgetLocker, go to: Settings > Advanced > HomeHelper
Check all three boxes:
"HomeHelper Compo.."
"HomeHelper Block Home"
"Block Home in other.."
Then click on "Select System Home" and choose WL HomeHelper.
Mission accomplished.
thanks...it works! still a little buggy though...but i guess thats just the app...the stock lockscreen comes up before the camera unlock...really annoying that you have to slide that first...is there a workaround for that?
edit: i disabled stock lockscreen in WL...seems to have done the trick..for now its working great...i like that it still shows the status bar when you turn it on...that way i can see see the time and battery info without unlocking it
another edit: found that if you long press the home button the recent apps list still comes up...if you have anything listed you can go to that app which then unlocks the phone...so this camera lock app is still useless

That only happens because you disabled stock lockscreen (it turns on "easy wake" ) otherwise long pressing the home button does nothing.
And I haven't found it necessary at all to disable the stock lockscreen, what you're talking about does not happen to me at all.. I've never used "disable stock lockscreen"
yeah...i figured out a way to get rid of the stock lockscreen...still..this app is a little annoying because after you unlock it, you have to use a slider unlock anyway for widgetlocker...if they ever get the unlock feature to work right (one that goes straight to the homescreen, without any bugs) ill gladly use it...but an ICS rom will probably be out by then..ONE CAN DREAM
try this- put some of your most used widgets on your lock screen so that when you unlock the phone you can read your news/check weather/texts our whatever so that it doesn't feel pointless to unlock your phone
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
yeah...i guess...i already have a widgetlocker set up that i like...by the time i come up with a new layout its not even worth the face lock feature..cause hopefully ICS is right around the corner
From what I read ICS is a major system hog. I'm not sure I'll even run it unless it's a custom ROM.

I just ordered mine from Best Buy. T-Mo is gonna ship it to my house and I can't wait! (Luckly it's before December or Cyber Monday)
well just ordered myself Sony Ericsson LiveView to use with the note (and S3 maybe)
don't know too much about it other then it's cool and well... bought it for cheap
can someone give some tips?
Not really a tip as such but I have found mine losses connection between Note and watch if I dont keep checking it or getting incomong data eg texts etc.

Yeh because of the connection loss I decided not to get this tell us how you get on it still looks like fun
I bought sony smartwatch, It works really good and no connnection loss.
I read some time ago that there is an app that keeps check connection with liveView and keeps it connected...
any chance you can find the name?
the reason i got the lifeview is because it was way cheaper then anything like it so... why not play with it abit

Good to know, any tips for apps / plugs for this little fellow?
Sent from N7000 with paranoid 0.1
Well gave in an ordered it lol main worry was battery and connectivity, had a quick look some good apps if they do what they say. calc for 1 will save me getting my phone out everything I need to work out how much stuff Im putting away.
The main add on i use is the music player one. It allows you to change the tracks playing on thephone whilst keeping it in your pocket. Also shows you the cover art etc which is nifty. I didnt bother setting up twitter or facebook apps but having seen vids of them they seem to work well.
About the calculator app I am not sure how well that will work as the screen is fairly small so can imagine it very easy for anything too complex ie that you cant work out in your own head.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA
Well this came today and first impressions the pre loaded music app works fine just shows the name of song and artists. Have not tried facebook or twitter might later the one thing I dont like is that when on wrist the watch face and icons are facing wrong way (fingers to arm where on a watch its top of wrist to bottom lol hard to explain).
Also cant get it to see any plugins they are in the liveware manager but when I go to liveview manage plugins there is nothing there
What wrist do you wear this on? I wear on my left hand side and icons are correct way round etc. Check on the application manager you have told it what tiles to display on the watch face.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
shall i buy it?
what about the display?
can you see something, when the sun shines bright outside?
I'll review mine when I get it, just shipped it from the states to isrsel

Sent from N7000
Just got mine in the mail, charging
One thing I must say, it came with the fixed watch back.... But with one problem, it's hard as hell to remove it
So... What apps do I need for it after I update it?
Sent from N7000
got my liveview ..updated software...installed liveviewcharm to stop disconnects
But no plugins are showing as installed on phone plus when I go to add plugin it says all plugins already assigned. what am I doing wrong ?
EDIT
Google is my Friend
quick search & I found this
All credit goes to adam1000rr from modaco.com
If anyone wants to know how to get #LiveView Plugins working with #ICS here is a small howto:
1) Install ADW Launcher
2) Open ADW Launcher, longpress on the homescreen and create a "Custom Shortcut"
3) when selecting the shortcut target select "Activity"
4) Search the Plugin within the list and select the "****Preference" subnode
5) Press OK
6) Click on the new shortcut so that the preferences of the plugin will open
7) check the "Enabled" checkbox of the plugin
8) you are done the plugin should work now... but you need to restart LiveView-App to see them!
works well with all plugins I've tested for now ;-)
