[Q] Paid Apps from Google Play? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have looked around this site and the entirety of the world wide web and haven't found an answer for this. Maybe I looked two hard and missed the forest for the trees, but I don't know. So, here goes:
I have rooted my Kindle Fire and installed Google Play/Android Market. It works great and I am able to download free apps at will. When ever I try to purchase an app, however, I get the message "Error. An error occurred. Please try again." This goes for new apps purchased directly from the market and for apps which link to the market for purchase (Avengers Live Wallpaper, for example).
I am able to purchase apps using my computer and they download to my Kindle just fine, but that process won't work with the Avengers wallpaper, for example. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks.

Just a shot in the dark here...have never seen or heard of this one...
Did you set up a payment method in Google Wallet? If not, just go to your Gmail account on a PC, click More at the top and select Wallet. From there you can manage your payment method and enter a credit card number, etc., or update an expiration date, etc.
If you already did that, about the only thing I can think for you to try is to go into Settings | Apps | Google Play and Clear cache. If that doesn't work, I would go back in and Clear data (and cache if it has something in it again).

At least if you haven't seen it before, there is a good chance I didn't miss something about this problem.
1) My Google Wallet is set up and works fine from my computer. I even tried changing my credit card just to see if that helped; no such luck. Google Wallet is not the problem.
2) I have tried to clear the cache, tried clearing data and cache, and then restarted. Tried again and had the same error. Cleared everything again, tried again; no luck. Did it a third time, including another restart: still have the problem.
Thanks, but any other ideas out there?

Next question...and more shot in the dark stuff...
I take it you have not loaded a custom rom, so you grabbed Google Play (vendor.apk) and the Google Services Framework .apk and side loaded it to your KF. Before I loaded a custom rom, I did the same thing. Which version of the Google Framework did you load? I know that when I did it, I was careful to grab the GingerBread version, since the Amazon Stock KF OS is GB based. If you grabbed the ICS version, perhaps the payment processing is different between the two, but they are close enough that you can download free apps.
Perhaps you used the Kindle Fire Utility, so you may have no clue as to what I am talking about! I don't think KFU did the market install back then, I had to to it manually.
Unfortunately, I cannot remember if I actually bought a Google Android app and downloaded it when I was still stock. I did download paid apps, but they were processed on another device prior to that. If I had tried to pay and download, I might very well have gotten the same error as you.

Shots in the dark are still better than what I've got so far.
You are correct in that I have not installed a custom ROM and that I installed the Google stuff using the Kindle Fire Utility, (and that I have no idea about the differences). I would assume that the software used by the KFU developer was the GB based Google Services Framework (since you said the Fire is based on GB).
What's annoying is that I don't really buy many paid apps, and the few I do, I can buy from my PC. The main thing I want to do is get the unlocked Avengers Live Wallpaper (my 4 and 5-year old boys keep asking why they can't see Capt. America and Iron Man). To get the $.99 unlocked wallpaper, you have to link from the app (no direct paid download), so I can't get around this problem.
I appreciate the help and if you have any more shots in the dark, I'd love to hear them.

You can try to install this zip thru TWRP. This is what I have setup on my modified stock 6.3.1. This is the latest Google Play version.

I tired several more ideas, all to no avail. Thankfully, though, I reset my Kindle and started over and now it works.
Don't know what was wrong, but grateful for the help.

how to install android market?

i rooted,and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351283 i used vending 3.3.12,...i succes market installed..
but, every times running on message show `add on account on market`then disappear .. how download apk???
Since you're going through the trouble of trying to install the market manually (and the lack of specificity), I can only assume you're running the stock Amazon software. In which case, I would strongly suggest saving yourself a butt-load of trouble and flash the MoDaCo rom (you do have recovery installed, don't you? Gawd, I hope so)
MoDaCo is not much different from stock, except it has Google apps and Market pre-installed, and it's missing most of Amazon's "assume the position" software. Besides you'd be hard pressed to find a better "stock" experience anywhere else IMO.

What is latest version of Google play services
I have no idea I don't have to worry about that since I'm not on amazon os. Just use a utility like kffa to reinstall Google. Or kindlefree, that also can do it.

After Lollipop, Package Access Helper has stopped when moving some apps to SD card

I have the Note from Verizon so everything is stock. After updating to Lollipop I factory reset it and after that the Package Application Helper stops every time I try to move certain apps to the SD card. First I noticed it every time I try to move Skype, also quite a few apps from the amazon app store. I factory reset it again and installed no apps from Google backup, then I installed just Skype and the Helper app crashed on trying to move to the SD again. I can't find any posts about this crash except for on the Kindle. I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing this problem?
This is now happening to me.
I factory reset, and this message appears while trying to install an application from the Amazon App Store.
I'm having the same issue with the Package Access Helper when trying to move some apps. Specifically two games from Humble Bundle 11, which I purchased yesterday. Helper crashes when when attempting to move 80 Days to SD. Riddick crashes on installation, so the "App not installed" prompt shows up 15 seconds after.
I'm also having the same issue both trying to move apps to the SD Card and simply trying to install apps from both Humble Bundle and the Amazon App store. It seems limited to specific apps on each store - some install fine, some get the error. I have not run into the issue where I have gotten the error and been able to install the app on another attempt. My Verizon Note 4 was factory reset after the upgrade as well.
I haven't encountered the error on any Play Store Apps at the moment (Badland couldn't be installed via Humble Bundle or Amazon App Store, but the F2P version on the Google Play Store installed without issue).
Has anyone tried on another lollipop device or a non-Verizon Note 4 running lollipop? I'm going to try installing one of the problem apps tonight on my wife's lollipop GS5 and see if the error occurs. I can't seem to determine if this is an incompatibility/format change with old APKs, or if Verizon simply pushed out a dud Package Access Helper build with the Note 4 update.
We tried installing one of the problem apps on my coworkers lollipop Nexus 5 using the Amazon App store - no problems there with the same trouble app. Looks like something with either Samsung's or Verizon's update package that is corrupted and causing this issue.
I had the same message when trying to restore apps via Helium.
How can this be fixed?
It is still happening today.
I haven't found a work around for it. Seems like Samsung may have pushed out a broken image for their update. I started a thread on the GalaxyNote4 subreddit and it appears that other people are having the same issue on the AT&T varient of the Note 4. It's probably going to remain in a broken state until Samsung and the carriers push out an additional update, or individual APKs are updated to work around the bug (unlikely).
I am unable to install any of these apps from the Amazon appstore: Angry Bird Transformers, Braveland, Knock-Knock but that is only 3 out of 50 and rest installed fine. There are quite a few Amazon apps that won't move to the SD card though. I haven't had any problems installing a Google Play app and only Skype refuses to move to the SD and crashes the helper app.
Same problem here, although I'm on AT&T. Now I didn't factory reset my phone after the lollipop OTA yet, so I have apps not from Google Play still able to move on to the SD card. The apps that are not from Google Play are from the Oculus store, what's odd is that I just downloaded two apps, however one was able to move to the SD card and the other spawns the error.
I am unable to install Pinball Collection HD, Badland, Back To Bed and a few others from the Amazon App Store on my Note 4 due to this error. Both Badland and Back To Bed install without issue from the play store though. I definitely get the error more often trying to move apps to the SD card - same issue with Skype. It's definitely app dependent - probably some of the apps calling whatever code is corrupted in the Package Access Handler component vs others that don't call the suspect functions.
My wife has the GS5 and it's updated to Lollipop (and has not been factory reset - simply upgraded). We tried installing the same apps on her phone using the Amazon App Store and it worked fine.
This looks like Samsung pushed out a shoddy ROM for 5.0.1 on the Note 4. I can't believe nobody caught this before all the carriers propagated it to the public.
I put in a tech support inquiry to both Amazon and Samsung about this issue. Not sure if it will get any traction, but the Amazon support request has been escalated. Maybe they'll put some pressure on Samsung to push out a fix in the near future.
Same thing is happening to me since the update. Then I got to thinking sometimes apps are moved automatically to the SD card. Also looked at other forums regarding older updates like kitkat, and someone noted they removed their SD card.
Let's give it a shot! Sure enough out of the 4 apps that wouldn't install from Amazon I'm on number three that is installing with no problem.
So try this as a work around.
Yeah. I can't install any non market app. Have the right security checked, too. No Humble Bundle, no Amazon. Either they hang and install forever or I get the Package Access Helper has stopped error. This happened after the lollipop update, so I did a factory reset and it didn't solve it.
This might be because of the Internal SD write problem with the last versions of Android. Go to the Play Store and get the "Foldermount" app and run it. If the problem is there it'll tell you and offer to fix it. After the fix reboot.
That seems to be for root only. I'm on a Verizon retail Note 4.

Well fiddle sticks. I guess that leaves that one out. Sorry.
Yeah, my Pinball Collection HD won't install either.
I did a factory reset upon updating to Lollipop on Verizon.
When will Samsung fix this?
I love that game!
Still no fix for this?
I got Amazon to credit my account $5 for my troubles.
possibly solved.
Hey guys,
I might have found a fix that did in fact work for me which I found on a reddit post I believe, I don't remember the site.
Verizon Note 4 5.0.1
To install an amazon app store app, first unmount your SD card, then try downloading and installing again. For me this worked and afterwards I just went back into settings and mounted my SD card again.

Error 963 downloading from play store

Having bought and attempted to download a game from the play store (they're having a sale) they took my money and then didn't give me the game, I've wiped data on play services and play store several times and even logged out of Google altogether. Still gives me this horrible error.
I'm currently running viper ROM 1.6.0.
Has anyone seen this error?, does anyone know a way to fix it?
Thanks.
Edit: now getting error 940.
Really getting on my nerves this. Can't install anything.
EDIT 2: Have uninstalled Viper for the time being, I don't know if it was the rom's fault or not but i've went with another until i resurfaces, funny thing is, this was apparently a real issue on the M8 too (I didn't own that phone) either way, will leave this here incase a fix arises.

I had the same problem with this error 963 when I wanted to download a certain game but I solved that as I was logging in with my computer to the google store and give a permission from there to install the game, the result a good working limbo on my HTC M9! I hope this will help you too!

Actually went ahead and re-installed the rom, all working now, I've heard of HTC devices having this issue before, namely on the M8, although I didn't have that device, could be a google issue i suppose, just never seen it before.
I'm having this issue rite now, and reinstalling rom has not helped at all. What else can I do?
Just had the same issue myself. Try initiating the download via the play store, I switched to another app and downloaded that.
Seeing as though you reinstalled your ROM, that's interesting, the can only be so much that remains consistent..
The content on your internal and external memories and your accounts.. The problem resides in one or the two, the fact that the user before you was able to deal with the issue via the internet I'd say its more an account issue..one of the problems I had with the 963 error was the download changed size in the play store.. The initial size of limbo was around 120MB and after the first error the size changed to around 27MB, what I thought had happened is a corruption had taken place in my memory and it was failing for that reason.. Personally I'd clear the downloaded data for the app that you're getting and I would initiate the download via the web. Fingers crossed it works. Good luck, let me know how it goes.

i went on my PC and installed some apps through play store on my PC, but some are still failing with some different codes. ive tried wiping play store, google play services and and frame work, but no good.
What ROM are you using? I switched from viper to leedroid but then it happened on Lee droid too. After reinstalling the ROM the issue went away. I'm really not sure what else to suggest. Could there be a flag on your Google account which is stopping it? I dont believe its luck at all, there has to be a reason why this is happening. Try this.
Disconnect your Google account, wipe data for Google framework, Google play services and Google play. Delete the nearly downloaded file. Go to recovery and wipe dalvic and cache. Boot back into the phone and sign into your Google account. Then pull the game from the play store on the web, do it in that sequence and hopefully it'll work. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a suggestion or a fix.
Also list the codes which you're getting, might spark an idea with someone else.
I'm starting to think its something installed or a corruption. Between ROMs I always wipe the internal memory and simply select key folders which I want to keep, ie: downloads, dcim, Zedge, co pilot, maybe I'm inadvertently fixing the issue without knowing it.
i believe i fixed it.
1) download a file manager then navigate to sdcard\android\data and obb and delete the files of the apps that are failing to install
2) clear cache and delvik cache in recovery
3) open play store, go to my apps, then scroll over to all apps
4) locate the apps that are failing to install and click the little "X" on the top right of the entry and delete them from account, even if they are paid for, you will still be able to re-install.
5) log on to the play store via a computer, search for the apps that wont install and install them through the play store on the PC
I think whats going on here and why we are getting errors is because we may have restored a backup and then stopped it from downloading apps or lost connection, etc, and play store thinks the app IS already installed on the phone and wont let you download it. i had about 15 apps that wouldn't install and i fixed all using this method.
Sort of along the same lines as what I said, nice one for reporting back on it I'll try this next time it occurs. Cheers fella.

i tried cleaning the apps data (play store, frame work, and services) and signing out and in etc, but i think that only made the issue worse.

ive done this multiple times and every time i did it, more and more apps would fail, so i think doing this made it worse.
Besides removing the apps from the apps list in the play store, its no different mate. Haha let it go.

I have/had this issue. When I unmount my external sd card everything downloads fine. If I try with sd card mounted nothing downloads
This was happening to me on a bone stock ATT 32gb... It just started working again for some unknown reason..
Confirmed, unmounting sd card makes updates/downloads/installs work again.
Because google is too ****ing retarded to implement an option that gives you the option to select what storage to use when you download a certain app...
Really how hard is it to add that google?!
Press install -> get popup with either SD card or internal memory for the app -> done..
No instead we have to use ****ty apptoSD crap..
But it's all part of the typical google mindset "our way or **** off"

I deleted my Play Store...and more.

So, I'm quite new at all of this, and I understand now why you shouldn't mess with stuff you don't know about.
Now that that's out of the way, I'll explain my issue. I rooted my tab 3 with kingoroot, which worked perfect, but then I decided to go and use Lucky Patcher, which is when things went bad. I attempted to get the Modded Google Play store, which downloaded, however when it was finished installing, it gave me a message I didn't see, and tapped away from accidentally.(I think it was asking me to reset my device). I then left Lucky Patcher, and realized that Google Play was gone, no mod, or original, and so I reset my device thinking that's what the message may have said to do. Of course, I get back and it's still missing. It's totally gone. Not in applications manager, couldnt find it in my file explorer. I factory reset as well and nothing was solved. I now get messages saying that an application needs me to update Google Play Services..."Which your device does not support.....". So finally I tried 2 things: 1, I downloaded a Google Play store APK, which would open, then promptly close right after, and then announcing that it had failed/closed. I also tried to side-load google play services, which also didn't solve my problem.
Im still rooted with superuser
Now, I've looked everywhere on how to reset my actual android version(without a computer), and all I could find was using ADB to downgrade, then upgrade, which I'd like to avoid using ADB, since that just opens up more possibilities for me to destroy my tablet.
Please help me
good news! you do NOT need google bloat-adware to install apps from the play store.
