Not to question you, but do you actually have the skills to do this? Something like this is not an easy task for people that know what they are doing so when you say you will help, does than mean you will test or can you actually contribute?
While some do not like TW, I do not understand why people would complain if there are more options for you phone. If you do not like it, move on to something else but don't tell people not to do it.
If the new TW was ported with all the new features in the SGS3 I am sure people would jump on it. Even the TW haters.

As I say that, it's better than sense 4.0. Nothing is better than stock ICS imo.

U can install it as a normal apk, or if u're rooted u can also push it to /system/app to enable delete apps directly from app drawer. In that same section u'll find another thread with tw launcher. This is of course TW4. Anyways, i've lived the tw experience and my final thought was "i'm never going back" , it was for sure my worst android experience.
And finally, as a response to the guy that claims that tw is a God in comparison to sense, i would propose to go jump off a cliff. They both suck and are no way close to vanilla feel, but if i had to choose between those 2 , i would go with sense, i've tried all sense versions up to sense 3.5 and neither tw3 nor tw4 are not even close.

A bit much there. Some people like like touchwiz because of some of the features it brings to the table that, quite frankly, should be in the Galaxy Nexus. The one that is bothering the HELL out of me right now is Wifi-Direct.
The S2, running Gingerbread, has a fully functioning, built-in Wifi-Direct Application. The Nexus? Does not. (Also every single video codec native to it without needing an app)
The S3, will have a better camera app, S-Beam, and a whole host of other features, that are only included with TouchWiz.
The features I've mentioned are not limited by the hardware differences between the S2 or even the S3 in comparison to the Nexus.
It's not always about looks, it's about features as well. I doubt telling someone to go jump off a cliff if they don't agree with your opinion on design is warranted.
Not a fan of touchwiz or sense
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Jump off a cliff was metaphoric of course (didn't expect i would need to explain that). Anyways, all this stuff is a matter of taste, and yes there are people who like tw, for whatever reasons. As i mentioned i spent time in both worlds, the only feature I liked in tw was the memo app. The features in sense such as widgets (weather, stocks, htc email, news feed and so on), more practical and nicer lockscreen, better transition and scrolling animations, recent apps and settings shortcuts in starus bar, and visually nicer and more colorful UI etc... plus, the whole general feel and smoothness of sense, i'm not talking about sense 4, although htc will polish the software on one x in future updates. Unless someone hadn't lived with both UI's his/her arguements are not valid.
Anyways back on topic, the "features" u mentioned in ur post above are directly integrated into the samsung framework and other system files, and u can see the progress of such ports in the gnex dev section. But that's not the point, people who NEED TW features should go and buy samsung phones with tw, gnex is clearly not the best choice for them.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
OK some of you guys need to understand that if wants to bring TW to the galaxy nexus so be it. I'm tired of reading crap about how "why would you want it" if you don't want it don't flash it when there's a touchwiz rom simple as that. Don't sit here and tell him you hate TW for what ever reason. He is asking for help to port it. If u are not going to contribute then don't say anything at all.

Why buy a gnex if you want a manufacturer overlay?
Seems kind of strange to me. I got a gnex because I wanted pure google.
The Sensation forum is also full of people complaining they don't want sense.
It's all very strange, like buying a vw golf and being disappointed that you can't put a 7 litre v10 in it.

from what ive seen, touchwizz is more functional and more customizable than sense which only 'looks nice' but i dont think it does look that nice
guess it is simply an individual matter
i never tried touchwiz, from what ive seen on videos it doesnt really make me want a SGS2.
one desire developer, baadnewz, recently bought SGS2 but he sold it very soon after and bought HTC Sensation reason: "cant live without sense"
so like i said, everyone likes what he/she likes
It's not that I don't like sense I just wanna try something different. I sometimes get tired of the look of sense and wanna try Touchwiz out. Is it just me or is sense just getting boring their are just so many devices with it on them its no longer fresh.

Note:

didn't Moto even rename it?
I will also be trying MIUI after my device is able to be rooted.

Go under software and you can see some of the features if you guys still don't know much about the SGS3 yet and what it is capable of. I'm sure with the brilliant and dedicated developers we have, they can definitely pull most of the things off on that last that does not require special sensors. So what do you guys think? I'm ready for S voice, smart alert, face and voice unlock, and the plethora of other things that the S3 has to offer.
I could be wrong, but I don't see Samsung updating older phones with those 'new' features if they want you to go out and buy their new SIII.
Though a few of those features has alternative means.

I think he's talking more so about if developers would be able to port those features to the galaxy nexus. Pretty safe to say samsung won't be officially handing them out but that's not to discount the great xda devs being able to port them.

I'm hearing you there, this is the first Android phone I'm utterly in love with. It's so wonderful, fast, gorgeous display and it looks good too. I've had five Androids since 2010 and I'm going to be sticking to this one for a while. As Cyanogenmod development steams along I see no reason to look elsewhere.
Certainly the Galaxy III is a sexy phone but it's just not worth the cash for the extra features to me. Especially since it will be another wait until Cyanogenmod reaches a decent level of development for that phone.

I know I'm getting the features because I'm getting the phone. And no I don't think the gn will get some of the features due to CPU and GPU power and nfc speeds .
CPU and GPU on mirroring all share cast.
Nfc speeds on the s beam.

I am pretty sure that the GNex will get most of the features of the SGSIII eventually, either officially or unofficially!
What do you mean NFC Speeds on S-Beam? S-Beam works by initiating an NFC Connection, which then establishes a WiFi Direct connection between the devices to send the files, so there is no reason that GNex couldn't have it?

This for me also.
Saying it looks like an iPhone isn't the real reason because you can customize MIUI much easier with it's built-in theme engine - there's hundreds of themes available for it that looking NOTHING like an iPhone and NOTHING like aosp as well.
The reason it isn't popular here is because it runs like crap on the galaxy nexus. If you popped in over at the Desire HD or SGSII forums you'll see it's one of the top ROMs used there because it runs beautifully on those devices.
oh so miui isn't optimized for nexus ? one more thing is there a difference between aokp , aosp , cm10 ?

you guys that have never tried and think its too much like the iphone check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hICCWO8vaXU
It doesn't take advantage of GPU rendering and therefore is God awful slow and painful to view. Basically its not at all optimized for the nexus. You can change the scrolling style on the launcher, or use apex/nova, but as a workaround its a poor trade-off.

1. i'm not particularly fond of its smoothness or appearance. i ran it on my evo for about a day, just to see what all the fuss was about, but was not terribly impressed.
2. closed source. not because i really care either way about re-contributing to the community (sorry guys), but because i've spent enough time working with slightly-less-than-reputable foreign programmers to be cautious of it. before you start ranting about how i'm some kind of racist/anti-chinese douchebag, just stop. i'm not even suggesting that there are sneaky things going on, because it's awfully hard to hide those kinds of things from the rest of the community. their fierce determination to keep all their code/modifications to themselves, for some reason, just makes my spidey sense tingle.

There is a ROM for most popular HTC phones called "ViperRom". It is probably the most insane ROM I've ever seen, simply because of the sheer amount of tweaks.
The greatest feature I have seen on it is live, on the go framework tweaking. Load some .pngs into your phone, and use the built in editor to select them and use them as images in your status bar, such as the battery, signal, wifi, or ring mode images. There is no installable theme or .mtz file needed to theme the images; just select them from the tweaks menu.
Is there any ROM that has this ability or can be built to add this ability for the GSM Galaxy Nexus? Because that would be awesome.

You bought a galaxy NEXUS. Not "sense-box-2230349039" or "blur-spaz-X08" or whatever the hell else you're looking for.
If you got a NEXUS device hoping that you'd be surprised by sense/b2g/windows/Android2.2/MacOS/whatever-else to be available...and working without show-stopping bugs...You have no idea what a NEXUS device is.

ANY DEVELOPERS WHO BOUGHT A NEXUS ARE FANS OF ANDROID AND WANT TO BUILD ANDROID. NOT SOME AFTERTHOUGHT SKIN WITH CLOSED/SEMI-CLOSED/"SOON-TO-BE-AVAILABLE" SOURCE.
If you came in to the game just to cry about the lackluster roms you shouldn't own the phone.

You will likely never get a Sense ROM on the Nexus and if you do it will be a port from another device. If you enjoy sense, you should stick with HTC devices. I came from a Sensation that had 1.9 million sense ROMS with few AOSP offerings.
The Nexus is the exact opposite. It's going to give you a 'vanilla' Android experience without the skins that you'll see from other manufacturers.
For me, I love the stability of the 'stock' builds and I can get enough customization through APEX launcher and some creativity.
Here is a great example of how much you can customize this device (and mind you, Black Bear is doing all of this without root): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804627

I guess I just had the wrong idea about the nexus. I kind of thought it was the phone that would have the most development, be it ROMs being ported, built, or whatever. Currently my prepaid Virgin Mobile Optimus V has a wider selection of "different" ROMs than the Nexus does. I guess I was wrong. I was by no means trying to start a fight, however, so I sincerely apologize if anything I said offended you in any way.

There are plenty of widgets for that.
Not gonna happen since there aren't any TI based HTC phones.
