I was wondering if anyone who has updated their nova launcher had any luck with getting wallpaper and live wallpapers to scroll on any ICS roms. I was just wondering if anything was fixed in the update to resolve the issue. I know Samsung took it out a while back. Thanks for the help.

I think this is a known issue that was supposed to be resolved soon (hopefully). I know it still works in Go Launcher.
From what I know, the recent ics stock based roms had this feature removed so its going to stay that way eventually. If you're on an AOSP type rom, your wallpaper will scroll.

Nova doesn't have built in wallpaper scrolling. It piggy backs on the phones native ability, which has been removed from this phone since el29 gingerbread. Its not broken, it just can't work on this phone. Same goes for apex launcher.

I've noticed significant lag with the Galaxy Nexus and I suspect its the GN launcher. I believe I've tried all the variations of the modded launcher. I'm wondering if everyone else is seeing the same thing?
Do you notice laggy transitions?
Are you dealing with it or running a new launcher?
Which one are you running?
What do you miss from the stock launcher the most?
Do you really like widgets in the app drawer? (i'm on the fence about that one)
Adw ex launcher ftw.

I'm a huge fan of adw launcher ex!!! That was my first thought.
I tried adw ex right away but didn't like it. Was early on though. But I like the stock launcher enoughcit will be awhile before I try again.

Are you running a live wallpaper? A stock live wallpaper? If so, there is the cause of your lag.
I've never heard of anyone having a laggy launcher unless it was when using one of the included stock live wallpapers that wasn't the phase beam one.

There is extreme lag when using live wallpaper that isn't phase beam but even without there is noticeable lag. Its usually stuttering in the animation when going in and coming out of the app drawer or when scrolling from apps to widgets.
Are you on 4.0.1?
4.0.3
Different roms and different kernels and there isn't much of a change. I mean don't get me wrong its not like painfully slow that I want to hang myself or throw the phone out the window but it isn't even close to as smooth as the early alpha of ICS on the GS2
ADW launcher EX
Odd.. I've never experienced lag :/ try using nova launcher
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yup. Tried that as well. And "Home Launcher" which is currently my fav as well as the CM9 launcher. Pretty much the same thing all around. I did use adw for a few hours and that was buttery smooth but they have to make some changes to their folder implementation before i can use that everyday
Using the stock ICS launcher. I need to get around to trying some of the other ones on ICS.
Stock and I suspect some of the lag will be addressed by 4.0.3 if you're not already on a custom ROM.

Nova Launcher Beta7 > *
As much as I like Nova Launcher and ADW Launcher Ex, my first choice of launcher is LauncherPro because, as far as I am aware, it is the only one that has built in widgets for Facebook and Twitter.
I know you can install widget packs like Android Pro Widgets or Colorize Widgets but they all have issues, like jerky scrolling or the Twitter app only showing up to 100 tweets.

guess thats an alright reason
i only use 3 homescreens, *usually only 1* and only ever use 1 widget *beautiful widget 4x1* and leave facebook/twitter to the apps
widgets are battery suckers
and if you need to see more then 100 tweets on your homescreen you should be opening the app
I'm surprised no one mentioned Go Launcher Ex, especially when it's free and provides a LOT of support. Check it out, it has very awesome animations for everything. Only downside right now is a bit of lag when opening the drawer, i'm sure that will soon be fixed.
Nova launcher. Best one. No lag. 4.0.3 custom and Franco kernel

I use ADW.Launcher EX cuz it supports more than 16 apps using the built in Folders feature. Also icon skinning support.
I can't believe the stock launcher can't hold more than 16 apps in a folder... wtf is this, iOS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I've seen a thread on here about scrolling wallpaper being disabled with el29. Somebody posted modified APK, yet it doesn't seem to work, other than it allowing for.different dimensions in resizing. Most custom roms have it working, how do you fix it? I'd like to have stock el29 with wallpaper hack .
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
To my knowledge only miui doesn't have scrolling wp and thats only with certain themes.
Bump

Why would Sprint/Samsung disable scrolling on wallpapers?? That's stupid, now many live wallpapers are ruined since you can't see the whole scene.
I would like to know a good fix as well. Even knowing which roms have it enabled would be nice.
You dont need a custom rom to fix it. Just install a different launcher. I use go launcher ex and everything works great, including scrolling wallpapers.
I'd like to keep the stock launcher.
Also when I upgraded to EL29 the microbes live wallpaper went poof and was gone. Had to google it to get the apk to get it back.
Calk 2.8.1 fixed the scrolling wallpaper issue.
+1 I've tried everything to get the scrolling wallpaper back on stock EL29 without going to a custom ROM. I even pm's Calk to see if he could do a zip for that feature, but no response yet.

Hey, can you point me to an apk that works please? Thanks!

I like to use tw 4.5 launcher and even though it is custom, scrolling wallpaper still doesn't seem to work. Getting a custom launcher still doesn't let you properly resize the wallpaper, unless you replace the gallery apk.
I appreciate work by all the devs, but there isn't a rom out there that I like too much. Most of them make visual changes I am not fond of, or brightness settings. I know that both calcs rom and blazer have working scrolling wallpaper and are both on el29.
Am using unnamed now, since it is still very stable and fast. Had to disable updates via terminal emulator to prevent el29 from downloading and notifying me every hour. Problem with that is it also disables profile and prl updates.

Bump, anyone? I really hate that my tw launchers nor none of the gingerbread launchers work. I'm not fond of adw, lp, nor.go.
I flashed the AIO mod and it has working scrolling wallpapers. I think samsung disabled it when they turned on continuous scrolling through homescreens. It looks a little funny w/ some wallpapers to jump from screen 1 to screen 7 backwards.
Edit: make sure you flash the "preflash" zip too or it won't work.

Don't want to be "that guy" that brings an older post back up to the top, but if I'm wanting to stay stock (I just got this phone, I've had several other Android phones in the past and I don't feel like messing around with custom ROMS anymore)... there's no way to make scrolling wallpapers work again?
I use ADW EX and if I use "Wallpaper Set and Save" from the market, I can get static wallpapers to scroll, but that doesn't help with live wallpapers.
This is irritating!

Flash the AIO mod and then flash other packages to make it stock again. I did that and now have scrollable wallpaper on my story k build. The only modification I have is crt off animation.

Thanks for the tip, but you lost me at "Flash..."
Not that I don't know how, because I do... but I've had a Moto Cliq, Nexus One, EVO 4G, Epic 4G, Nexus S 4G... now this E4GT... my flashing days are done, I'm just tired of the hassle.
I made upgrade my t989 yesterday from T989UVKL1 to T989UVLDE.
Problem is the live wallpaper and wallpaper which do not scroll in the picture screen. It stuck vertically. the horizontal wide image picture cannot scroll or to be taken into a wallpaper picture. Please let me know anybody know how to fix or how to downgrade to the previous rom.
Mine is not rooted. perhaps I need to wait to upgrade to ICS...
How can I save my stock rom before ICS upgrade? Please help.
Thank you
Root then do a nandroid backup.
As for scrolling wallpaper, use a different launcher that supports scrolling wallpaper like Go Launcher and ADW EX.

I had/have this problem too. I reloaded an earlier version of the stock ROM to get scrolling back. I went and updated to UVLDE again yesterday and my scrolling wallpaper in LauncherPro still works as long as I don't change it. You'll see now, regardless of what launcher you use, the selection window in Gallery is one screen wide. That won't change until the ICS update. So either revert to an earlier version of the stock system, load a custom ROM or wait until the ICS update hits Monday.
thanks and question
thank you for all who respond:rolleyes. I will try ICS upgrade first. However I am curious if there is any way to change stock rom without rooting?.....

Emailed with Apex Launcher support team, said JB support will come in next release, would not give me a time frame.
Update has been posted for FC on JellyBean (JB)
This morning an update was posted that fixes the FC while on a JB build.
The new update fixes this. Its now 4.1 compatible

Finaly WORKS!!!!! goodbye nova for now!
So glad apex is jb compatible now
DO YOU JELLY?
Updated today and now works. It doesn't have the cool JB features like AutoArranging widgets and shortcuts, but who cares. I use the same setup all the time.
Anyone else have a problem with their widgets not updating? Happens to me on CM9 and stock ICS. BeWeather, DoubleTwist, Apollo player on ics, lg weather on ics.

Restart your Launcher and see if that helps, or try a different launcher all together and see if you get the same issues.
I have the same problem

i'm using Atrix 2 ICS official release and it worked perfect , but now my widgets freez/won't update , i was on apex when this first happened and i thought that this was a prob with apex so i uninstalled it and started using stock blur but still it happens from time to time , restating the launcher helps , but it would be awesome if someone can give me a proper solution for this .
