can anyone explain what the factory reset option in the bootloader do to your phone?if does it revert back to stock rom if i'm on a custom rom? or it just wipe user data like CMW do?
I think its do same factory reset as CWM, but i think if you already flashed CWM that factory reset on bootloader not work.
They are the same they just wipe certain partitions

I unlocked my bootloader, rooted and got s-off on my wildfire s. I would like to sell the phone, but don't want my Google account on it. It's still running the stock OS but has cwm recovery on it. Will I brick it if I try to restore to factory settings? If so, is there a ROM of stock MetroPCS wildfire s I can download to just flash over it?

You can factory reset no problem, or in clockwork recovery wipe data/factory reset, the wipe cache, then finally under advance wipe dalvik.
Then when you reboot it will bring up the setup wizard like a new phone.
Then switch off and give your phone to the new owner.
Hey Guys..Verizon GN here. I was curious if someone who is rooted with a custom ROM goes to the Backup and Restore menu and clicks Factory Data Reset, what happens?I'm assuming it wouldnt go back to a factory rom.
you would assume incorrectly. it wipes user data, but does not restore stock images.

it just factory resets.... deleting all logged in saved info/apps/etc.
I'm on TrueAncestor now and want to try out Gin2ICS. Do I need to flash the stock .ftf ,root and install CWM all over again or can I just wipe and factory reset in CWM and flash the new ROM?
Yup! You need to do a factory reset if you don't want to get a bootloop
And also don't forget to 'wipe cache'..
If your current fw is match or compatible with gin2ics, you don't need to flash fw again. Just flash the rom via cwm and don't forget to factory reset and wipe cache before

actually you only need to wipe dalvik-cache, the rom installation it self will do a wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache.
And backing up the previous ROM should do just that (back it up) in every aspect (restore apps, widgets/shortcut setups)? And what about restoring myapps back on a new ROM im flashing? Do i have to just do it the slow way with play store or is there a better way? Same question with restoring home screen setups/widgets/app placement when flashing over to a new ROM? Can Titanium backup do this? BTW Im usingTWRP for recovery.

I went from stock GB to .58 enhanced+TrueAncestor following the ROM-guide for TA. Should I have done any factory resets/cache resets and what not during this? Everything works fine but I dont want any trouble later.
Some custom roms require you to factory reset . Some wipe cache and factory reset automatically
I rooted and unlocked my HTC one X I want to do a factory reset on it to clear all setting and files. I do not have clockwork installed just the stock rom.
Can I do a factory reset and not brick my phone?
I would assume so, I cant see what bad would come from it
I have an HTC One V that was originally on Virgin Mobile. I unlocked the phone, flashed a recovery, rooted it, flashed it to PagePlus, and then flashed a ROM. I have a new phone now and I am giving the One V to a friend. I need to factory reset the phone, but I am worried that doing so will result in the loss of the PagePlus flash or problems with the custom ROM.
Will a factory reset cause any problems? If so, what's the best and quickest way of removing my apps and information from the phone? Flashing another ROM over it?
You can only factory reset from recovery! Do not reset from within your Rom! This will only erase all user data. you will not lose your Rom unless you wipe system.
