[Q] Does Draw Something Free crash on your phone? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

It does on mine, very frustrating.
It usually freezes on the ad screen and won't let me progress from there, so my drawings never get sent.
ROM: aokp_toro_milestone-4

worked for me the few days I had it. Paid version works also.

I'm using the paid version but I dont have a crashing problem.

What ROMs are you guys on?

AOKP B36 since this morning, haven't played yet today, but doubt anything has changed. It has always worked fine for me on previous versions of AOKP: B35, M5, M4..
EDIT: Just played a few games on B36, all is well.

That's right, no ads. But I do play with a few girls who have VZW GN stock rooted 4.0.4, they use the free version and have never said anything to me about it crashing. Do you have AdFree or a similar app that could be causing the problem?

Yep. Aokp or cm9. Just stopped playing it

What matters is the kernel. Saw this issue so many times in the LG G2x forums, suggested using a different kernel, and Viola! It works. Not sure which ones work and don't for the Nexus though, try different ones out till you find one.

Works just fine for me.

Nope, I have nothing like that installed on my phone, unless it came stock w/the ROM.
Funny thing is that I just uninstalled and re-installed it and it still crashes about 20-25% of the time on the ad screen.

Thanks! I'm using Franco kernel as well, the latest milestone release. Which one are you using?

Free version worked fine for me today. Aokp.

AOKP B34, Glados kernel 1.31 - it works fine for me, it will crash on the ads sometimes though. I've got the free version.

Paid version on AOKP no crash

I'm getting the crashes too. Though the drawings gets sent most of the times, not like before when i had to draw again 2-4 times to get it through.

I think I know what might be causing the crashes.
For those of you who are experiencing crashes, are you logging in with your Facebook account or your OMGPOP/normal email account?
I quit Facebook since Feb'2012 and so I'm logging in with my regular email account.
I wonder if that might be why it's crashing?

I have the same issue with the free version. It will go back to my launcher after completing a drawing. Sometimes it sends the drawing, other times I have to redo it.
I do not have facebook, so I am using the omgpop login. I'm on Liquid 1.35 with Lean Kernel 3.4.0

For me, draw something often crashes in between rounds. After the ad.
Happens on my gnex with AOKP M3 and with Apex 1.12. Haven't tried with stock.
FWIW, I use facebook for my draw something account.

Draw Something not compatible with GNex

For some reason when I try to install Draw Something it is grayed out and says not compatible. I know others have the app on their phones so I don't understand why I can't install it. I was able to side load it and it runs fine but I'd rather have it from the market so I can get the updates. Has anyone been able to load this from Market on a CDMA from Verizon?
Haven't had the issue. Are you stock or running a rom? I have had it show up find on stock bamf and aokp.

I was on AOKP B28. I just flashed the latest CM9 nightly and it lets me install from market now.
Yah it's something the build.prop on AOKP that doesn't allow you to install certain apps. Weird.
Works perfectly fine for me.
Working fine with ARHD 3.0.0, se def. it's something about AOKP
BTW, whoever wants to play can start a game with me, my username is migatohacemiau

hi guys
how is draw something working for you? For me, I have a lot of problems. For example: After I finished drawing the ads show up. Then - sometimes - the app closes (just returns to homescreen) and when I relaunch the app, it seems that my drawing got ignored and I have to draw again.... this is very very annoying...

I was gonna reflash my rom thinking something was wrong. Hopefully they'll get it straightened out soon.
Mine just started doing that today too and I've been on 4.0.4 for a while. Must be the app itself.

Google play movie freeze

I purchased 3 movies through the Google Play store. I can download them or stream them. My Nexus 7 will play the movie fine but my galaxy s3 will only play the first 9 seconds. The phone just stops at 9 sec then it will kinda "boot loop" that 9 seconds until I exit. Not an actual boot loop, just the best way to describe the problem. What can I do to fix this? I want to play movies on my phone while away from my Nexus 7. The phone is rooted running stock 4.0.4 I747UCLEM
Thanks
I have the same issue. I'm running rooted Nostalgia 7.5 UCALH1 ROM
I also have this issue
In just guessing, but it may be because your rooted.
My tablet is rooted but doesn't do this
I also have this problem. Tried to watch the walking dead in hd on the google play movies app. At 9 seconds it goes into loop until i stop it. Any kther ideas besides that we r rooted? I would really like to watch the new walking dead lol.
Thanks
I am also having this problem on Jellybean. Downloading my movie now to see if it's just with streaming.
Downloading it made no difference.. Still crapped out at 9 seconds
I'm having the same issue. Thought maybe because I was rooted but that gives you an error message and wouldn't let you actually start streaming. Works great on my Nexus 7 but I get exactly 9 seconds in as well.
Are you on a DeOdex'd ROM too? I have not seen it on an odex'd rom or CM10... Just DeOdex'd TouchWiz.

So I tested the issue out on a CM10 based ROM with no issue...what ROMs are you guys all using with the 9 second freeze?

I'm on JellyBombed v11 and have the same 9 second freeze. I even restored back to the stock rom (still rooted) and i got the freeze.
Is it confirmed that CM10 based roms don't have this issue? Thx for the help, glad i'm not alone in this.
I have this problem as well. Galaxy S3 T999. Currently running Wicked ROM v7. It's a TW based ROM. I just uninstalled it for now. Luckily all I got were some free TV episodes, and didn't actually sink any money into it.

Was there ever a solution to this problem? Its made its way over to the S4.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
An official one, no. However I do not have the issue anymore. The only thing that I can think of is that I am using a slightly modified kernel by freeza found in his deodexed MD4 thread. There might be a list of tweaks done to the kernel in there. Or try asking him.
Hope this helps!

Same issue...
Has anyone got any more info on this? I have the same issue with a sprint s4.
I'm also seeing something similar on an M919 S4. I do think it may be kernel-related, because I didn't see it on stock; I only got it once I tried to flash a Google Play Edition rom (mrvirginia's "Virgin Rom," which does use a custom kernel). But it also seems a bit idiosyncratic, since there's only one other person in the thread about that rom who has mentioned it, which suggests it's not a widespread problem.
My problem is slightly different than the one described here, though; it still plays to precisely nine seconds and then freezes, but rather than a "boot loop" (which to me suggests it keeps restarting from the beginning and playing to that point), mine screeches to a halt, with the screen not moving apart from a few graphical glitches, and making terrible noises. The "nine seconds" aspect makes me pretty certain it's a fundamentally similar problem, though.
As a side note, I sort of wish Google had chosen a better name for the app than "Google Play Movies," because it's seriously difficult to search for this bug with such generic terms.
I'm currently having the 9 second issue as well, ever since I updated to MJA on my Sprint S4. I've used the stock kernel and KTkernel, still the same issue (I'm currently sitting stock, rooted). Hopefully the update to MK2 might alleviate the bug.
Update: The MK2 update fixed the issue with Play Movies.

It's working on Galaxy S3. So I don't think it's made for tablets only.
Bump for interest. I was going to try that game today and I'm confused that it says my phone isn't supported. If you look through the Play Store reviews, there are many other phones using it including the S3 and HTC EVO something. So it's obviously not tablet only...
:S
Strangely, I get the option to install it on my nookcolor and Moto Droid from the desktop Play Store, which both definitely have inferior hardware to the GNex. I'll see what happens when I get home.
ok! in the reviews section, i see a guy with a GNex giving review about the game on his phone.. i wonder how he made it run on his!!
So I got it downloaded and installed. It crashes on both the Droid and GNex, but I can at least get through the menus on the GNex. On the Droid it crashes on the loading screen after the Nekki logo. On the GNex I have the same experience as the OP. Oddly the app itself doesn't report/show a crash, it causes other things to crash.

Build number JWR66N breaks Netflix on all devices. Wait for the next OTA or install it yourself with one of the guides.
I'm still on JSS15J though... no updates yet.
I had a similar problem. I just cleared the app data, force quit, restarted the app, and logged back in. I'm on JSS15Q though. Not sure if that matters.

This does in fact matter. As far as I know, netflix is broken on JWR66N and will only work on the JSSXXX builds.
You can fix this issue manually here. You must have the ADB tools on your computer, and can get them from this thread. This is how I fixed mine. Just make sure you pay attention and know what you're doing.
EDIT: I recommend going to JSS15Q from whatever build you are on.

A reboot didn't do it for me. This only happened on my first run of Netflix on my new N7. Netflix was one of many apps that were automatically restored on sign-in, and I'm thinking it restored the data along with it. I don't recall being asked to sign in the first time I ran it, when it failed to work properly. After clearing the data and signing in, it worked fine for me. Either way, it works now.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I am having the same type of problem.... I have a rooted 2013 N7 on the latest firmware (JSS15J).
If I use the netflix from the play store I get stuck on the first red screen with the spinning logo and can never get past that point. I have tried uninstalling about 100 times, clearing app data, force closing app, rebooting, etc.... nothing works for me.
I had to go back and install an older version of netflix to at least get it working at all.
Is this happening to anyone else and if so please let us know the exact steps needed to work around this.
Thanks!

To be quite honest, stock android on this device is buggy as hell so far. I am a stock/rooted whenever possible kind of guy generally speaking(I always prefer it since you can get OTA's etc), but I was forced to switch to CyanogenMod 10.2 KANGS on this device, due to crazy bugs. They are now a thing of the past. From the smart-cover bug to the GPS bug to the Netflix BREAK, all of these problems are no problem for me. So go get PA or CM or something until Google/Asus gets their **** together! :good:

May need to install, and do a force stop / clear data before it connects. The Netflix Android app seems to have more bugs than functionality.
