It isn't installing someone else's kernel if you are flashing the one made by Faux.
It is Faux's kernel. It just says Paul in the name.

Is there a changelog available somewhere?
Btw, I too noticed one small issue with smartass2. Maybe it's the same as the one you found?
When playing music, I noticed a fair amount of skipping when the screen switches off. I initially thought it was the player, the dsp manager, etc. Finally, I came to the conclusion that the governor was the issue. Using CPUSpy, I found smartass2 scaled the cpu to 320MHz when playing music with the screen off. When I changed the minimum CPU speed to 400MHz, the skipping went away.
Was this the issue that you noticed or is this isolated to my phone?
Edit: Will try out your kernel and see if that issue persists. And test the kernel
Flashed the kernel. Doesn't seem to fix this particular issue. If you could somehow implement a fix for this particular issue, it woulde be great!
Will continue testing and let you know how it goes.
Just reporting, one thing I noticed is that 3 of my apps were broken after flashing the new kernel but reinstalling them brought them back to the original state.
new test kernel will be up soon i updated the cpu govenors and add a few more for users to test to see what should stay and what should be removed
quick q: will nightlys be available through rom manager update?
Accelerometer
Hi! Im testing your kernel right now, will post results later.
I have a slightly offtopic question but it's a kernel question.
I have myself a T-mobile Wildfire S wich uses a different hardware form the European Version, the only problem with it is that the accelrometer doesn't work with custom Roms (I've red Alquez said it's a kernel problem).
I wanted to ask you for any tips to star fixing it, I have programming and linux experience but I wouldn't know where to start. Any ideas?
Thanks again, keep up the good work!

I was wondering why you had written to the developer section. Here is the kernel of disciplexone (einstein.frat). I use the DSCPLX1 and it is the best kernel in terms what the CPU control and battery power. The Links:

No, it's a ROM made by Cowithgun, and it's kernel is oc. But I don't know if there's a package with the kernel only for flashing... But I know that Mutant ROM has this Kernel as option for install on Aroma Installer. So this may be available somewhere.
can't seem to find just kernel - if anyone else can let me know ,
thanks

Advice about kernels(ViperX)

I have took the plunge and finally rooted my HOX, and I've noticed the difference already, the question is though, whats the best kernel out there for viperx or coreDroid, battery is my primary concern and I have no interest in overclocking my device.

Welcome to the party
I'm on ViperX and have only been using Faux since the 006 series. The newest released kernel which is not a beta is the 007 kernel. If you want to go for great battery then the 007m is the one you want.
There is a new beta from Faux called 10b5 which also has great battery life. I just got 5 hours of screentime out of it, but do keep in mind that this is a beta kernel which is overclocked.
Hope that this helped shine som light on the subject
The best way is to download the zip to your computer.
Extract the boot.img from the zip\kernel folder and put it in your fastboot folder.
Place the .zip on your sd card.
Boot the phone into fastboot through the bootloader.
Open cmd promt (windows button+r --> wirte: cmd)
navigate to your fastboot folder (eg. cd C:\fastboot)
use the following commands:
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
On your phone go into recovery
advanced --> wipe dalvic cache --> go back
Install from sd card --> choose zip file --> locate the zip and install it
Reboot your phone --> done
Hope this doesn't sound too complicated, it really isn't as soon as you have done it a comple os times it takes 2 minuttes or less to do

First you will want to update the rom using the OTA service that the Viper team provide. This is found the same place as the normal OTA from HTC (Settings --> about phone --> Software update), newest version is 2.1
Use the step by step guide provided a couple os post's back. Go to faux thread in Original Development and find a download mirror.
Listen guys, this is important: For ViperX you should not repack you kernels. This will only make the rom unstable.

The "Original Android Development Thread" is for ROMS that have been built from the Ground Up. (From Scratch?)
Where as the "Development Thread" is for ROM's that are based on the Stock ROM but have been tweaked etc
Hope this helps.

1. install the Viperx V2.0.0 downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745176( use the boot.img from the rom)

Were you able to flash kernel?
If the phone is working ok, you don't need to flash modules. For recovery you need to flash cam recovery. Root required.
