[Q] Caller log not showing number - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

A friend left me a voice mail but his number did not show on the phone call log. This is kinda new since I always got the person's number in the log using my Exhibit 2 running gingerbread. Is this usual on ICS? It's not a good system because incase I did not know the person and they do not leave a call back number, I would not be able to get back to them. Anyone else have this issue?
Running Stock 4.0.4

Did it not show in the call log in the phone app or voicemail? I use Google Voice for voicemail and it shows everything about the contact. Its supposed to show in the phone app, it does for me.

Double post

Didn't show on the phone app. It displayed the voice mail icon on the status bar, if not I would not have known there was a call. It doesn't show the number in voice mail either which might be due to tmobile. I can get the number through the voice mail system but its a pain if I need to dial it since it its read out by the machine. Not using goggle voice facilities here.

Google Voice routing bug

So I just got my GN, and it's pretty freakin awesome! One thing I noticed though is that if I swipe calls to the left to ignore, it sends them to my new voicemail on verizon as opposed to my GV. If I let it ring all the way through though, then it routes to GV. It's not a super big deal because I can just push the power button and ignore calls that way, but still...
Also, the messaging sends through regular texts, and not GV...this last part I had heard before, but in case anyone else didn't know that.
Here's hoping they update the GV app to take care of these things.
My voicemail routing works correctly, however you're right on the auto-reply texts. Even with Google Voice set as the default action for messaging, they still send via the stock app.

Are you on verizon?
I went through a hassle to get Google Voice setup correctly on this phone. Had to upgrade my Voice account to a full Google Voice number, instead of just a voicemail number. Doesn't really matter, since I'm only using the voicemail functionality of it, but still.
Go to the phone and call *71 and your number (so *718001112222 if your GV number was 800-111-2222) and it'll set the call forwarding up correctly. Just have to make sure it's a *FULL* Google Voice number (can be done on the website - voice.google.com)

Yes, I am on Verizon. I use a full Google Voice account for calls, voicemails, and texts, and have call screening services turned off. I now use it on Galaxy Nexus and a Galaxy Tab 10.1; it's a wonderful setup.
On a side note, I did not have to call the routing number to set up my Voicemail forwarding. I simply selected "ok" both times during the Android setup process, ignoring the warnings about "incompatibility."
You should double-check your settings: https://www.google.com/voice#phones

My send to Google voicemail is working correctly when I dismiss a call, but the text messaging option still tries to use the built in messaging app even though I disabled it.
Anyone know a way to force it to use Google Voice for text messaging?
Thanks for suggestions everyone. Just did the *71 thing and will check to see if it worked when I get to work.
Not sure what you mean by full gv account... I use it for everything, so I'm assuming I am on full.
I also pushed OK and ignored the incompatible warning, but that didn't work last night... Maybe because of 4.0.2? Either way, hopefully im fixed now.

Edit: Just checked, the *71 plus the GV number did the trick. Thanks again everyone.

[Q] "Reject Call and Text Message" with Google Voice

So I'm really loving ICS and all its glory. I do have a question that I'd like to pose.
I am using Google Voice with a Galaxy Nexus on VZW, all is well in terms of making/receiving calls and text messages through the app. I did have a weird setup issue where I had to verify the phone through a phone call and not a text message. Weird, but it didn't stop it from working.
My problem is that when someone calls, with ICS you get the choice to reject the call and send a text message. The problem is that it the text message source is from the phone number on the device itself (which I dont give out), NOT my Google Voice number.
Is this a known issue or has anyone else since this? Maybe this is something we can look forward to in CM9?
I'm surprised this isn't more commonly requested. I only use my GV number for texts and don't subscribe to an SMS package, so I'd like to see this as well.

Google Voice Problem-> Sends real number

When I try set voice mail service on my JB (AT&T JB/Rooted) it fails to register. But I have fowarding set to my GV number so it does send voice mail there.
I have GV settings (online GV settings) set to display my GV number, not the real number (Don't want texts sent to real number...have that turned off). But I learned today that my real number is displaying on the other side.
Any suggestions?
Everything I have read states AT&T doesn't support third party voice mail providers. I'd love to see a solution too because AT&T vm is terrible.

If you are running 4.1.1 stock, it will not work, have to wait for an update.
Boy. Google is getting as bad as some others. Even their own products not working together. GV seems to not be getting much support/update or enhancements from Google. I wonder when they will add it to their list of products to drop.
I did have this solved, on my last gs3 on AOKP. VM went to GV and all calls went through GV with my caller ID showing as my GV number.
New phone, new flash and I'm working on it again.
In my case I use GV for all texting, and all calls. I did have the problem of phone VM set up originally. And I thought I had it set up well and then borked the phone.
I'm still starting over since yesterday.
IF you look at the screen that shows up under phone> menu> voicemail> set up. That screen looks like an old GB screen and has your google voice number listed as you voicemail as area code+number. There is no "1" before the number. if you de activate and reactivate from teh web interface and start using those codes *00xxxxxxx whatever, notice forwarding has a "1" in front of your number to forward to.
I thought this had somethig to do with it, maybe not.
But I'm working on it today
I noticed that whenever I receive a call from my GV number, my native dialer disappears when I try to hit the 1 key to answer the call. Reminds me of a game of whack a mole, lol

Can't get google voice, voicemail to work

I am not getting any voicemails on Google voice. I have Google Voice selected for "Voicemail service" and I am running Wicked V2. I have never used Google voice before so I don't know if its Wicked or what. When I get a voicemail I get a notification saying that I have a new voicemail and when I tap the notification it dials to my voicemail over the phone. When I have a voicemail and open Google Voice, there is nothing in my inbox or under voicemail even after I refresh it.
if you log in to gvoice thru your web browser on your computer, in the settings it'll give you a forwarding code to type into your phone's dialer

Thanks. They should have that info in their app.
I concur. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the phone itself. In the past I never had to set it up this way

I figured out on my own after fumbling through the call settings then additional settings. Figured it out and it worked. 3 weeks layer I began to not get gv mails again.... Somehow the call forwarding reset itself to tmo voice mail. I called them and had them disable my vm feature and gv is back to normal fwiw

I managed to find the forwarding settings myself as well. Now I created a contact with Google's voice mail number because it was such a pain to find on their site. I'll be watching to see if it flips back to T-mobile.

I got mine to work.. finally as well.. but.. i still get my voicemail in Tmobile voicemail and Google voice.. weird.. but.. it works, lol
The fix I used on my phone and works is to insert the following MMI code into your dialer as well as ensuring Google voice is selected as your voice mail **004*1412532****# (insert your Google Voice number after the *after the 004 and insert a # after your number. A message should come up on your phone saying the change was successful. This will also change your forward settings phone numbers as well

[Q] Voicemail in call log?

I'm aware that the HTC One M9 doesn't support visual voicemail natively (it's through carriers) but after spending an hour on the phone with AT&T getting Google voice setup as my voicemail provider (VOLTE needs to be turned off...). Google voice now works as intended but voicemails aren't being displayed in my call log. I have the option to display them checked in the Google Voice app but they still don't show up in the call log. Any ideas?
Do you use hangouts? Curious if you get different results vs the voice app. I use google voice for voicemail as well . It doesn't show up as a voicemail option but changing the voicemail number to my GV number seems to work fine.

I don't use hangouts no. Does your voicemail show up in your call log?
Just did some tests. Nothing I tried gets it to show up in the call log. Only in the app unfortunately. Does AT&T visual voice mail typically show up in the call log?

I'm not actually sure. I have an unlocked HTC One so I don't have any of the carrier apps. On my GS4, I used Google voice as my voicemail provider and it showed everything in my call log. It's possible that the htc one just doesn't support it.

Not sure if you've figured out anything on this or not?
I've had a few HTC One phones (M7, M8 and now the M9)..... The only way I've EVER been able to get Google Voice to show up in the call log is when I'm using a GPe ROM. It isn't 100% compatible with Sense ROMs. Even when it did show up in the call log, I would get random notifications from GV show up in the call log, from even a year ago. Sometimes on a restart, sometimes when I received a text and sometimes when another voice message was left. I ended up un-checking that options and it's much more reliable on notifications now.
Never got it to work 100 either. Like you I've had the most success on GPe ROMs. Too bad cause it is a useful feature.
