[Q] What Rom Should I Get? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I Love ICS On The Kindle Fire But I Bought My Kindle For Video Watching What Is My Best Option Besides Stock?

I think most of the roms out are capable of video playback if I'm not mistaken.
I'm loving the AOKP rom. Yet to try the other roms. Don't seem to catch my attention as much.

Hellfire CM9 ICS is the best in my opinion. Hardware acceleration works great so no problem with videos.

It comes prepackaged in several of the ROMS.
It's also in gedeROM.

[Q} Amazon Instant Video App?

I know that one of the main reasons for the current Amazon Instant Video apk not running on most devices is that it has to be a Jelly Bean device, if I am not mistaken. Since the Kindle Fire HD is based on Android 4.0.3, can we expect to see a working ICS, possibly JB apk?

Skipping 1080p video using allshare to tv

Not sure this is in the proper section but...
I have my galaxy and I have a Samsung television. Both are hooked up to the same network.
When I try to stream video to my television in 1080p, which is just the video size that I recorded using the camera app, the video comes in choppy. Lower resolution videos seem to play fine.
This feature worked flawlessly on ics, not entirely sure though as to why is choppy on Jelly bean.
Has anyone experienced this issue before? If so, what did you do to solve the problem.
Are there ports that need forwarding? It used to work, but now it doesn't. The only thing that has changed is the upgrade to Jelly bean. I help! :banghead::banghead:
FreeGS3 2.0.0 Jelly Bean
Also interested in finding a solution to this. It happens between my phone and tv (samsung) and between my phone and the parents' home theater (sony).
I can play videos i have on my phone from other sources just fine, but videos recorded on the phone are very choppy...even 720p.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy SIII on MetroPCS!

Glad to see I'm not the only use experiencing this. I haven't tried 720. When I was on ics, This feature was working just fine.
FreeGS3 2.0.0 Jelly Bean
Tried 720p, still a no go with that. Does Jelly bean use a different video encoder than ics?
It's hard to believe that only two people in the community are having this issue.
FreeGS3 2.0.0 Jelly Bean
Should be in Q&A

skipping video on allshare
Yeah same problem here. All my pre jelly bean update videos stream fine. Videis post jelly bean skip. When i try to play them on my samsung tv i get "preparing to play" message every couple of seconds and video freezes. It used to be a great feature but now its ruined. If i change to lower resolution in camera settings it seems to play fine but no 1080 anymore. Anyone know the the problem might be and mist importantly whats the fix? Thanks
Same prob. here Anyone ?

Stuttery Netflix streaming

Hi there
I use the Netflix app on my HOX to stream TV and movies and find that the playback is very s-s-s-tuttery/jumpy despite being on a 30Mb WiFi connection (indeed, the same WiFi I use to stream to my XBox which works great).
Therefore, is this an issue that the HOX is just not powerful enough to stream movies smoothly? Does anyone else use Netflix on their HOX? I don't own any other handheld devices to compare to but I do find this hard to believe given it works on iPhones with lesser hardware.
For reference, I am using ARHD 33.1 on stock kernel - i.e. a pretty standard Sense 5 & 4.2.2 set up.
Thanks
James
I'm running a HOX+ and see the exact same problem, running a very solid Wi-Fi connection with 16Mb broadband. It's pretty much unusable, very frustrating in use.
Phone is completely stock Sense & 4.2.2.
i've used netflix on sense (stock), rev HD, venom as well as CM 10.2,10.3 and 11 using ART and delvik and have had no issues with play back.
OK thanks. At least it's good to know it's possible to have it working smoothly on the HOX. I will experiment with some custom kernels perhaps.
FYI, I installed Lyapota's kernel and I have just watched a whole episode of Breaking Bad stutter-free. Might just have done the trick.

[Q] does CM11 works well on Skype?

I am using stock rom now. I use Skype a lot to chat with my parents. I want to know whether cm11 rom perform well in video chat?
Besides, does cm11 works with flixister app to stream moive, I tried cm11 in Bn nook hd+ but flixister cannot stream motive.
I prefer a rom with everything works rather than just run fast in a few things.
Any suggestions?
You install Skype on CM, not CM on Skype!
Generally It doesn't have any problem with CM11, unless there is a specific bug with the build for your device.
