Is your phone roaming on to another network? Mine shows 3 as the main network but if I roam it shows the roaming network's name beneath it on the status bar. It sounds like this could be the case with yours but the name won't show correctly.

No I'm not roaming or at least I don't think so. I'm in Denver so plenty of coverage. It goes away when I reset NY phone.

Yeah I guess so. I've been in Pittsburgh through Rochester with this phone and I've never seen that symbol, which causes me to doubt that it'd be roaming.
And even if it was, which carrier could it possibly be that the phone can't display? It obviously can show the major ones.

I have just started seeing this as well. Didn't have it before. Also with T-mobile, running 4.0.1.
Love the comment about how expensive the phone is - brilliant.

are you running any custom rom or anything?

I saw a similar topic in a German board and there was also mentioned that it could be some kind of homezone thing but I don't think that this is the solution.
The Nexus is my third android phone and I have a homezone with my provider for years and on no handset with android I had any sign or indicator neither on my Nexus.

Running stock android.. Powered off, powered on - pound signs gone.
Perhaps some app/process that's causing it? Loaded all my apps one by one but didn't affect anything..

Some lock screens have the ability to put like your name/contact number in the lock screen. Maybe you accidentally got to the page to edit that and somehow entered those characters ??

The owner info appears on the top right corner, so it wouldn't be it. Just tried though, nothing.

That is really odd especially if you are not running any apps that alter the lock screen or other notifications. You could always root it and install a ROM, that will fix it

I saw these weird symbols in my notification bar this morning and was curious if anyone else has gotten this or knows what it is?

Are you talking about the H above the signal bar or the three monetary symbols at the bottom? I can't remember which symbol that one is.

No that's a weird one...I'm in Verizon and I've never seen anything like that. Its not hspa is it?

Have you used an editor to change your carrier?

Lmao the H is hspa and is standard on T-Mobile GSM phones.
I was referring to the bottom of the screen under T-Mobile . They almost look like euro symbols.
No changes to any carrier on my phone as this is stock ota 4.0.2 unrooted with minimal apps

Yes precisely! This is a UK version of the phone being used in Los Angeles, but still this a first I have seen this.
Something else to note is I had major idle battery drain last night for the 1st time in a long time and my android OS was a major resource hog. This is NOT normally the case for my phone.

Mine actually had that last night. I cleared dalvik and cache and rebooted and it was back to normal. It happened right after updating to the latest Franco kernel. Don't know if that caused it though.

It did not cause it because I am on stock 4.0.2 unrooted

it could be malwar because when you have malware it changes some fonts on your screen e.g the Google search bar won't say Google but it will have a magnifying search icon . Make sure your installing trusted apps

Stuck on 1x

I've been traveling around today and have been to place where I should have 3g
Places were I had 3g still shows 1x
Speed test shows DL of 85kbps
I used goo manager to get team win recovery
Went to use paranoid ROM
Had 1x and thought it was a ROM problem
Flashed free GS still stuck on 1x
What can I do to get back 3g?

On stock it shows 3g but speed tests claim 1x

I did prl and profile updates
I even redid hands free activation through nV restore
Billard your method was the only one that worked

so at work im roaming pretty much ALL DAY. this warning comes up on my notifaction bar nonstop. can i turn it off?? its so annoying becasue i will come up ever time i close it.

Are you pure stock or do you have root/custom recovery?
If you are stock there is no way to stop it but if you have custom recovery there was a mod created in the development section to stop it.

im stock damn. I just got my s3 like 3 days ago, i was going to wait to root it but because of this reason imma root it to get rid of this damn thing!

In settings raise the bar for roaming like 100GB.

[REQUEST] Verizon or AT&T 4g LTE icons in status bar

Anyone know a theme that has this already, ive been flashing around and having a hard time. Or can anyone post a .zip file i can just flash ?
the 4g LTE icon just like verizon, or even the AT&T are pretty sweet!

Try edititing your build prop values to match either Verizon's or AT&T.

I found this set of Verizon data icons online. I haven't tested it. But from what I can tell, you are supposed to be able to flash this through recovery and reboot. Try it and see if it works for you.

Rom tool box is the easiest way that's what I use.. changing the build props work you can use any carrier stock icons there all built into this phone. I'm Rocking the att icons. I'm with sprint and we just get 4g. No lte with it

Running Jamison's Alpha 8.6 and tried to change the 4g/lte icon to Verizon's with 3minit app to no avail. So then I tried changing via build prop editor and also getting fc's on the dialer. Is anyone else getting this?

When i do edit the build prop, i get the carrier label t-mobile fixed in the status bar. I dont like it there. Anyway i can romove it?
Edit: only happens with att 4g icon not with vzw.
