What's your preferred screen density? - HTC One X

Ok, I know someone has its preferences about that but I think standard 320 dpi icons and Widgets too big.
For me 292 is a better value. It allows me a 6x5 grid so I can use the real estate of this big screen. What's yours?

LCD density change requires root. There are many apparently to do it but I like LCD density modder pro that fix market compatibility issues too
The battery notification is from battery monitor widget. You can use different icon packs. If you are referring to the numbers on the system icon they're from the cm9 release (themed in green with Androidiani theme)

Always 280 with smallest fonts for me. I use LCD density Moder pro too.

[MOD] qHD on Samsung Galaxy S2 tested and working

HTC Sensation eat your heart out.
This app lowers your screen density allowing more content to be displayed on your screen. Whole web pages seen with no scrolling. Most of the settings menu viewable with no scrolling what so ever.
Step 1: Install apk
Step 2: Select menu > settings then check save density as system density.
Step 3: Enter a value of 200 in the New Density Value textbox. (Working well on 200 with ADW Launcher EX not tested twLauncher adjust to suit).
Step: 4 Select save then reboot.
This works beautifully on the SGS2.
Download: Seems LCD density changer is the only one on the market that can do this permanently.
Is this just a density changer? Why do we need this app when there are others... or we can just edit build.prop manually?

yeah, sounds like it:
"This app lowers your screen density allowing more content to be displayed on your screen."
Build.prop methinks
Yes it is but built prop edits dont stick using file explorers text editor etc only would change to 220 max. This is way more easier. HTC should use this save performane haha.
Yeah, but don't post a paid app to do it please. I took the link out. It's £0.64 on market.
Ok free app link replaced
Is the app changed? Changes removed on reboot with free app?
Yeah removed by mods but works excellent with AWD.Launcher EX.
Useless?
This shouldn't be ment to be rude... ^^
Swyped from my overclocked GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
The default Phone application on Galaxy S II didn't like this at all though. But that's only the numpad / keypad that didn't scale up to the density of 200.
With this apk, even the TouchWizz HOME is resized and feels ridiculous with 200
This thread should be replaced in the Themes and apps forum
Horrible thread. Can you DE-Thank someone?
Build.prop DPI editing has been around for at least a year now.
I agree the title of this thread is very misleading and will make people believe they can actually make the resolution higher on their phones.
Also... the change in density amplifies the poor colour gradient we are seeing in most apps so even more reason not to do this until some devs solve that problem.

If you want to change screen density, why not just edit the build.prop?
At least it fixes the CRT effect (for me), changed density to 240 from 240 , no more glitches in CRT effect

LCD Resolution - WOW!

Hi all,
After coming over from the EVO 3D, I found the HUGE fonts, etc on the SGS2 disconcerting and ugly. I longed for my small clear fonts and tight spacing on the EVO3D qHD screen.
So I just downloaded LCD Resolution, a free app from the Market and set the Resolution to 200. Wow, what a difference! It is now just like looking at my EVO 3D with a better screen.
Awesome.
P.S., If you are using LauncherPro which doesn't have the ability to resize icons or fonts as Go Launcher does you will find this especially helpful. I have found Go Launcher to be an FC fest on the SGS2.
The resolution changing doesn't size right with some stock apps so I stay away from it. If the font is to big or not to your liking just change font size and style...try a ics ROM it has the option to change the font size built into the ROM.

What rom are you running?
LCD Density Pro set to 200 causes my phone to freeze on boot with FC15
I used LCD Density Pro to fix market on Touchpad.
Switched my LCD Density to 200 using ROM Toolbox, no problems there on CM9.
I had used LCD Resolution...with my Thunderbolt and ET4G- until I started getting incompatibility to download apps from Google Play (Marketplace). So if you do experience that, you may have to uninstall the app.
Hi guys. Thanks for the responses.
A couple asnwers here regarding LCD Density Pro. Have no idea as my OP is regarding an app called LCD Resolution. I am running the latest EL29 modem. I've tried this on a number of the top roms and all worked fine.
The benefit of this is that it also makes my icons smaller which was the problem when using LP on this device.
I've now set mine to 190 because I like that even better. Sorry it doesn't work for some. Works perfectly for me.

For any questions, please let me know.
Is there a specific density that keeps the dialer from shifting or a fix?
I love 200 but the dialer is way off.

Which DPI's can I use?

I want to get bigger icons so I was wondering what the DPI's are that I can use, because if I use the wrong ones it might screw op my phone right?
Or is there any other way to increase icon size?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Dry decreasing the dpi, i think that will lower it, and u wont mess it up as long as u dont have it completely changed. Use an app from the market and find one you like and then change it in the build.prop to make it permanent

please correct me if i'm wrong but i dont think you can change icon size in sense drawer. With ADW launcher or Nova its possible.
Density with 192 dpi are no problem but it ist realy small...
I use 240 dpi
Using the Nova Launcher, back on my Wildfire I could change icon size easily with ADWLauncher.

ok, may you use following option: (root needed)
get root browser lite from the market
- open /system/build.prop
- search the line:"ro.sf.lcd_density=XXX"
- the XXX is your density change as you wish (try 360 | 320 is stock)
- save it (an build.prop.bak will be created with your original settings)
- reboot
I tried up to 450. Its possible but there u got little problems.
stumpyz9 mentioned this way before...
This will increase everything. Not only your icons...
So the only way to just increase the icons would be to get ADWLauncher again?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I think so. I was pretty sure the there is an option for icon change in nova but I don't find it right now. Sorry.
You can change your desktop icons with "desktop visualizer" by adding them as a widget. But I haven't tried that.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD app
Can't find it either.
I don't need everything to be bigger, only the icons.
the desktop visualizer method will only change size of your desktop icons!
get desktop visualizer from the market
install and create a widget "desktop visualizer 2x2(?)"on the desktop. size depends on you.
click widget
select symbol (app icon)
select action -> launch app
confirm with ok
your done.
you may change size by click, hold and choose edit.

[MOD][THEME][22 May]PA Colors Preset for Hybrid Properties[PA3.56]

Hello community,
essentially PA COLORS is a .xml file that contains definitions for apps and its colors for navigation bar, -buttons, -glow, status bar and -icon. It can be applied within HYBRID PROPERTIES and colors every app defined.
The original one includes just a few apps. My interpretation of PA COLORS includes every system app of PA Rom, PA Gapps and some of the most common user apps.
The colors are picked precisely from apps or their icons by taking screenshots and catching hexcodes with a colorpicker on PC. My goal was to make a preset that works for all the different UIs + PIE! And it does :good:
So, if you are new to PA, you need some inspiration either what’s possible or not or you're just to lazy coloring apps on your own feel free to try my interpretation of PA COLORS. Let's start...
HowTo:
1) backup your PA preferences in hybrid properties
2) backup your existing 0_colors.xml in system/etc/paranoid/preferences by renaming it to 0_colors.xml.bak (use your favorite root explorer)
3) extract and copy my 0_colors.xml in the folder mentioned above
4) set permissions to rw-,r--,r--
5) apply (new) PA COLORS in Hybrid Props
6) reboot
Themed Apps:
see screenshots down below
Notes:
- settings for „size/layout“ and „extra“ don't get changed by PA Colors
- only colors of defined apps are getting changed the rest of your apps will stay as you set them
- some apps pick up colors from their host apk. e.g. phone/contacts or maps/local/navigation will always look the same
- play music gets the colors from android system (just to mention)
- you don’t like my colors: restore your pa prefs or delete/edit the corresponding lines in 0_colors.xml (use notepad++)
IF YOU'RE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD IT,YOU CAN HIT THANKS :good:
regards
O
[size=+1]Due to the lastet style changes on PIE that comes with the build of May 26th my color preset doesn't work as intended if you use PIE! There is no individual color for the navbuttons of PIE! Now it is linked to the one of status icon color which is a mess IMHO![/size]
Great work thanks!!!

Glad you like it.
Will see where this thing will go. Depends on the community if I may ask which apps should be added?!If I do a poll for that?! Or if I just keep it up to date when apps getting updated and add the ones I like.
I'm open for suggestions.
Really loving it. This speed up the customize of the color... Only one question what do you use for setting well the color I used to screen shot the app and with an app catch the color in the screen, there's something to speed up the process? It's really annoying that pa doesn't have a hex color catcher in the pop-up... Maybe can be implemented later...

Had a look into it. It can't work due to the fact he messed up the file:
<setting type="Hybrid" target="com.google.android.keep.colors" value="FF585A5B|FFBBE535|FF75DDBB|FF585A5B|FFFFBB22"/>
<setting type="Hybrid" target="com.android.launcher.colors=4A000000|B2FFFFFF|FFFFFFFF|4A000000|FF33B5E5"/>

He simply forgot to set up the values correctly. First line for 'Keep' is how it should look like the second misses the correct phrase " value=".
So, if you have time, add the correct phrases or use mine and add his colors for the additional apps.

android system should coloring every app thats not set with own values + lockscreen and app drawer. That's why I decided to leave it on default. Reboot is needed for the last two ones to get applied.
Ahh, that's why I didn't see another change..
I'll wait and decide
Have colored chrome too, if anyone wants the colors just ask.

Maybe we could organize a bit to not have multiple work.
Like making an extendable list of apps and people who use them choose nice colors (it would only be important that it has a consistent look)
If one likes an app more colorful or not, he can change it manually (like in the chrome case)

Nope doesn't fix it.... The LG weather widget fits perfect with 530 .... The smart notice doesn't
After change the resolution to full hd and 530 dpi i can't fix the doc icons, any help please.trying with app settings on xposed
Changing the DPI messes up the QuickCircle case display. Im using ART so xposed is no go to change it.
