Hey, I was chatting with Samsung, and they kept giving me the runaround "we don't know, it will be on the website" and she kept referencing "the team" who works on the software... so I asked for the software team email address, and she could not do that. But that she would "send feedback about my request" when I asked if they could email me back when they get my request, she said that they would update the website. I asked what they would do with my request and she said " they could release the update quicker".
Does that sound right? If more people ask, they will release it faster?

Good idea. I'll see if I can do that too later tomorrow Good first step!
two things:
1.) If they (Samsung) have not released the update yet, a longer wait is gonna happen. Might be because of carrier issues (like ATT and Rogers adding bloats etc).
2.) If they already released the update to carriers, it's ATT/Rogers doing that's keeping ICS delayed. Samsung might not tell customers about this, well, maybe they don't want to point fingers..
This is only what I think....talking through experience...
Adding bloat. Give a few apks, samsung puts that in system/app in the zip, done >_>
But there's a point in the passing down to carriers...if this holds true should we try ATT soon? However I think they have a deadline by end of this quarter. They did say "coming months..."

But absolutely no proof. All just rumors. When Froyo was coming to the Epic even the magazines had dates (which were wrong) listed. Google it. The only thing that comes up is Samsung to release to Europe and then to US carriers, oh and all the rumors here. Hasn't released in Europe yet. If you ever think it has released, just go to Sprint.com and check update firmware for your device. The first day of OTA it appears on the site.
Kenny is correct though. However it doesn't matter what the date is. As far as were concerned its most likely end of this month.

I really hope it does come at the end of the month but there is absolutely no mention of it in any Android publication other than Samsung's tweet that we will get it. The rags. Always have better sources than we do.

Ive read all over the internet that the OTA update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 is a leaked version...so when does the REAL official update get released??
No one knows for sure, not even Samsung. It was said to be 8/29 which obviously didn't happen. Now they're saying possibly this month. But who knows.. these things change all the time. My guess is about a week before the iPhone 5 hits.... cynical? Perhaps...

I live down the street from T-Mo headquarters here in Bellevue, WA, and I have a couple of friends that work in the dev department and they said within the next week. Before the iPhone5 announcement is actually a very very good guess.
Seeing as we have had a couple of decent leaks, the last one being pretty stable, it shouldn't be too much longer.
No one not even Samsung or Tmobile knows when its going to drop.

Disclaimer:this is coming from an employee at a smallish Sprint store, so please know that it's far from confirmed.
So yesterday I was at the Sprint store upgrading to the S3, and I was asking about the S3's JB update. After he told me that it's for sure coming soon(non help on when), and while he was porting my sister's number to my E4GT, he started to tell me that the E4GT would be getting JB, and that Samsung had told their store this information. The lady at the counter next to his had agreed with that he had just told me. I was given no time frame either, just that the device will be getting it.

I was kinda thinking that. The same guy and lady both said that Sprint would not be getting the Note 2, when they've personally announced that they are and even had a hands-on with the Sprint device in new york. I would make a way better Sprint employee that that guy. But I'm only 16, so that's a no for two years for me.

I hope it happens, but Sprint is probably telling them that to make sure the S2's keep selling
When JB arrive to Epic Touch, i think all of us will be in the galaxy 3 or note 2 forum postin LOL

It's coming for the E4GT, all the rumors from reliable sources point to it.
Your backup source should be the fact that the phone just started rolling out for Virgin and Boost.
(Meaning they're not going to EOS it anytime soon.)

Seriously, it's a point of competition against Apple. You'll probably see even longer support as they get closer to a standard build for most phones; one of the biggest reasons for delays on our device is the fact that more changes are needed.

This thread lost all credibility in the first paragraph. S2 to s3 really? What's the point it's the same phone. Go return and wait for the new nexus or note 2. No reason to blow a 2 yr upgrade on a same generation phone.

I for one think it is a completely different phone. It has a whole different feel from the S2, it's faster and lighter, bigger screen, that physical home button. My sister had me use her upgrade on the first to buy a new phone anyways so she would get my S2. So I still have my own upgrade to use, which probably will go towards the Note 2. On AT&T. I'll be switching once my contract is up in December.

Mmmm.....I think Verizon has TMo beat when it comes to delaying updates. When I had my galaxy nexus, the rest of the world got updates a month before we did.
Seems everyone thinks they're always last! Lol!
The sprint guys were saying this is the first time they've ever not been last, let alone first!
"All good things", guys!

Big Red is always the last to receive updates. They take too long to lock bootloaders and revamp their data plans to realize that manufacturers push updates to them with plenty of time to bloat it out.
Oh, and this thread is closed. Please open one when there is actual "news" about T-Mobile and something that isn't already plastered across multiple forums/sites/blogs....
Just got the full confirmation from my Samsung mobile rep yesterday that sprint will be dropping the 4.2.2 firmware for the S3 in mid June. Anybody hear anything differently of can back up what he told me?
Edit: it's mid June and we've seen nothing yet lol *(clearly)*. Either my rep was mistaken on the ETA or the rumors are true about the delay for the S3 and the Note II. I apologize for the mixed information.

I'm fairly sure they meant only for the international version because that's been all over the place.

But news leaked that the international will get it in June....and I've never seen them release it for Sprint at the same time

Interesting but history doesn't lie... usually international will get it then the US gets it months later. So I would not be surprised if you have been told false info.

I'm guessing that to get that OTA 4.2.2 update I would have to go back to stock everything from something like this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099)
I feel like quite a bit of people on XDA already are rooted and have a custom ROM that is already 4.2.2; is there a reason to unroot and go back to stock when 4.2.2 comes back?

Right now only AOSP based Roms are on 4.2.2 for our phone. Some people like Touchwiz Roms better. You don't have to unroot. When OTA drops you can just flash a rooted version of the OTA update or other OTA based TW Roms when they update.

Is your Samsung contact actually from Samsung or just a 3rd party marketing partner like MarketStar or Marketsource?
MarketStar and Marketsource folks don't know squat.

All I know is that my note 2 is rooted but my wife's s3 is not and I still find myself using her phone all the time. It's a great phone and if it's updated to 4.2.2 that will definitely hold her off till her upgrade.
And like someone said, Sprint is getting better with updates, probably the best from the 4 major companies.
