"Fooling" Samsung Apps - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi there,
I have found several times free apps in Samsung Apps when I had a galaxy S2. Unfortunately there is no such app for this market unless you are from Korea.
Can we "fool" the Samsung Apps that it is running in Galaxy S2 and not in Nexus?
What do you think in this issue. it is not fair to remove this app from Nexus.

And that is why its a nexus phone.
...of the people, by the people, for the people...

I think it's possible in some way, but who has the energy to do it? In my opinion, Samsung Apps sucks, and I bought a Nexus so I didn't have to put up with developer-specific ****.

I got tapatalk free, some dictionaries free, 2 major newspaper subscription free at Samsung App. Trust me, it is a good option to have Samsung Apps in Nexus like in Galaxy S2.

faster cpu but lower MP camera... also is the nexus coming out for tmobile? and when is it coming out??
Get the Galaxy S2 now (especially for 400) and sell it later on once the Tmobile Nexus comes out....
Get the SGS2. We are getting ICS soon and we have good devs here. Galaxy Nexus doesn't have external SD which is a deal breaker.

get the s2, the nexus isn't anything special just a overhyped s2 for Verizon plus the Tmobile compatible version might not even come to the US
if it does you can sell the s2 for 300 and just upgrade to the nexus if it's even worth it

[Request][Port] Galaxy note Premium Suite applications

Developers can you please port the premium suite applications available in the Galaxy Note such as S Memo and S Note. It would be an awesome feature in our Galaxy S3. Please.
I have pre-installed s memo in my sgs 3

But the Premium suite S memo from the Galaxy Note have a lot of other special features available other than our galaxy S3 S memo.
"Premium" suggests that you pay a premium to get the note with advanced features. Therefore there may be legal issues surrounding porting that.
Reads as a Samsung update for large screen products .

It's not a paid app but it was included in the update of Galaxy Note to ICS. The features of the apps were increased in the update. So I think it won't be illegal in porting the apps.
friends found this while surfing around in the Galaxy Note forum
https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0BxadWqrhgc33c2lQYzRBb1Npc0E&export=download
This is the premium suite app from the Galaxy Note and it works in our S3 on a normal install without root. But some work has to be done in adjusting the resolution so that it looks perfect on our S3.
Can anyone confirm that the premium suite does indeed work well on the S III? I have the AT&T Note and use the upgraded S Note app and S Memo app everyday. Especially "formula match" which is part of the productivity tools in the updated S Note app. It connects to Wolfram Alpha to show the different solutions to whatever equation or science problem you hand write. I'm thinking of moving to the S III but cant if it doesn't support these apps which Ive become dependent on. Thanks.

How is Galaxy Nexus so far?

This is my original post about how my N1 died.
Farewell to Nexus One
I am looking for new phone, and I am interested with Galaxy Nexus, as I am a Nexus fanboy.
So, how is Galaxy Nexus so far? How big the upgrade if compared to N1? I don't read any reviews about it yet, and I want to hear some small opinion or review from xda members.
Thanks a lot.
A giant upgrade!

Use the search feature and read existing reviews with 10+ pages. Its a lot more efficient than starting a thread.
You'll get a lot of biased posts as well since...well..you are in the Galaxy Nexus forum.
Its $350 without a contract. I think that's a steal. Get it.

Its the best phone out there.

I went from a G1 to N1 to NS to GNex... Each phone has been better than the last.
It's a huge jump from the N1 to the GNex, don't wait any longer.

I had the nexus one and loved it, but switching to the galaxy nexus was the best thing, don't know how I used the screen on the nexus one its tiny, plus you get faster radios, way better camera, a ffc and you can actually play games without the multi touch crapping out or being limited by the Adreno 200 GPU. And last but not least you get [email protected][email protected]!.
Get the galaxy nexus and you won't look back.

Nexus gives you wings?
.. but yeah, N1 to a GN is a HUGE upgrade. Any phone of this generation will be a huge upgrade. A caution of word though, after using Galaxy Nexus... your N1 screen will look like a joke. At least that's what GN did to me to any phone with a screen smaller than 4.5"
Hell, I went from the HTC One X to the GNex and it felt like a massive upgrade. I couldn't imagine going from N1 to GN. Do eeeet.
Get the GN and no mistake.
I'd changed my GN only with the next GN.
A big upgrade that's for sure.

Just use the open VPN for android off the market and you don't need to worry about tun. Just import your openvpn profile. Its nice app as you don't need root. It works on stock.

-> Galaxy Nexus vs. Galaxy S3 in term of usage longivity <-

Hey guys
So currently I'm using a Gnex w/ a minor crack in the screen. I am honestly thinking of upgrading to the S3 due to a opportunity.
However, since the Gnex is from google compared to S3 from samsung, I know the Gnex will get more support apps and ROM wise. right?
Also, I don't really like to upgrade too often... so would switching to S3 be a smart move? since I heard the new google phone might come out w/ android 5.0
In terms of longevity, which phone should I stick with? in terms of support, accessories and that I won't feel it's outdated
Cheers in advance
go to galaxy s2 forum and see how much development is there. S3 also like S2 is very very popular even being this new.

yes I know the S2 was very popular
but would google's flagship phone be even more?

Upgrade to GNex or?

Hello Gnex owners!
I've been using my Nexus S for some time now and I believe it's time for upgrade. I was thinking Gnex because it is cheap but I need your opinion. If there are any previous Nexus S users here, you do know that after Jelly Bean arrived, NS became too laggy to support it and it was terrible. People reverted to ICS.
So,
1. How fast is your phone today on 4.2.2, how often does it lag, crash and so on...
2. How fast is it compared to Nexus 4 and Galaxy S3?
Selling my Nexus S and adding not a lot of money does get me Galaxy Nexus, so I'm pretty excited. Or get Galaxy S2/Note 1? Thank you!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
1.Phone is as fast as i need it to be. It lags occasionally if i play a game like gta iii, but I'm not a big gamer.. Doesn't ever seem to crash, unless i'm experimenting.
2.As far as side-by-side comparisons, The nexus 4 is only about 4 months old; the galaxy siii is about 11 or twelve months old, and the gnex is about 16 months old; Things change quickly in the phone world. So you have to keep in mind the time frames.
If you're seriously considering a galaxy sii, I'd go for the galaxy nexus. Why haven't you mentioned something like the htc one x, etc.?
All in all, I think I'll be quite happy with this phone for another year or so.
No lags on a daily normal usage for me. Even when there is lag while running a lot of apps it‘s nothing that‘ll make you crazy.
None of the games like NFSMW or GTA III lag or slowdown noticably.
If I were you, coming from the Nexus S I‘d have upgraded to the Nexus 4 than the GSIII or even the Galaxy Nexus.
for the right price def do it!
I made the switch from Nexus S to Galaxy Nexus because of the JB lag you mentioned, and I couldn't be happier. I never even considered getting a Nexus 4 because my phone works so well.

Former ns4g user here. I was in the exact same situation as you and made the leap back in December. Speed and smoothness are fine for me (don't play games). I think for the money/android experience, there's no better way to play it than to annually upgrade to 1-gen old nexus devices. I'm generally happy, but must say that I thought the ns was the ideal form factor. I even went back to my ns4g on a slimmed down Rom for a while before finally deciding to sell it. I just use web, email, maps, and a few apps, so the larger screen didn't add much to my user experience. Whatever though, I digress ... if you get the gnex, you'll be happy with 4.2.2

I'll be honest and say that i do miss my Nexus solely for development purposes. You'll always be ahead in the game with the Nexus. I have a S3 now and the only complaints I have are development community, I wish it was bigger. There is a ton of pros and cons though so you have to go with what suits your needs not everyone else's. My main reasons for getting rid of it were camera and no external SD card but I should have kept it around to mess with. All around it was an awesome phone though and if for some reason my S3 broke and that's the only phone I could go for I would be just fine with it.

I like the phone so much I just bought an used one for the wife.
personally my opinion is that if you plan to keep the phone for about 2 years or so, spend extra 100 and get a Nexus 4. The reason is that while the Galaxy Nexus is fast enough, with new software update, it can bring it down a little bit. I have used Galaxy Nexus and feel it is a bit slower than the newer Snapdragon S4 based phones due to the CPU. In addition, the Nexus 1GB RAM is fine now but with next round of OS update, it may not be.
It is no doubt that Nexus 4 should support the upcoming Key Lime Pie (or whatever is called) and probably so would the Galaxy Nexus. While Galaxy Nexus will run KLP fine, I think you may possibly ended up feeling that it is a bit too slow once the software hits while the Nexus 4 won't. In addition, with N4, you would also be able to keep it a bit longer and enjoy the future software updates.
if you're on verizon, gnex is a good bet to switch. i was in verizon yesterday and none of the phones they have interested me. if you're looking for a gsm phone, nexus 4. i'm on verizon so nexus 4 is not in my future, but i'm very happy with my gnex being over a year old already.

I got my phone around November 2012 for free with Verizon. Though a year old I have to say that it is still blazing fast. If your looking for a great looking phone, this is it. There is a bunch of phones that are much faster than the Galaxy Nexus but don't let this deter you. It runs 4.2.2 super smooth under clocked. I'm sure it will run the next update just as fast. The nexus 4 is a great phone but depending on what you do, the extra speed is a little overkill.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Nope, I'm in Europe, so I'm one of those who have to buy unlocked phones, no contracts or anything. Personally, my Nexus S is pretty fast, but after using my sister's S3 for a while the screen became to small, the phone itself became too small. I gave it a thought and I don't think speed will bother me that much on it. I won't play any games except Temple Run or something like that, I use Nexus 7 for high quality games like Real Racing or Deadzone.
I can sell Nexus S for 150€ and get new Galaxy Nexus for 260€. Nexus 4 is only sold by retailers here, and you can imagine how big the price is. At least 400-450€, Note 2 and S3 are cheaper! Evil retailers. Second hand Galaxy Nexus is no more than 220€.
So yes, thank you all for replying!
