Hey do you guys think may 31 when boost comes out with 4g and the HTC Design 4g i will have to switch phones because i flash my HTC EVO 4g to boost awhile ago. Or do you guys think it will just become part of a plan and just wait till someone post then 4g APN like how you used to get 4g by going in EPST and change sprint to clear-wmx.net???????????????????
No 4G settings are unique not universal.
People may use 4G profiles from the EVO Design to get 4G on OG EVOs because of the amount of ROMs the OG EVO has compared to the few ROMs the EVO Design has.
So what your saying is im going to probably have to get the HTC Design to get 4g on boost
You will absolutely need to get a Design to get 4G.
Similar to how a 3G enabled boost donor phone is required to get 3G on a boosted EVO.
The dude at boost mobile sated 4G is coming to the og soon he said. I live in west palm beach Florida so it may be different but less than 58days its coming.

If u have hspa+ coverage (like Tmo) get Simple Mobile. Unlock & use any compat phone. I'm friggin loving it. Dumping VZ was a great day lol. I found u don't even have to unlock a Tmo phone. Just put in the APN for SM and ur good. Love it! I unlocked the doubleshot anyway tho

So what is more logical ? Sprint dumping 4g for LTE deal. Or dual banding. I personally will be pissed if the ditch 4g.

I'm guessing you read the article on Engadget or something...
http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/17/lightsquared-and-sprint-reportedly-sign-15-year-lte-agreement/
I don't think Sprint is going to completely get rid of 4G, instead they are going to try to expand their service with the new deal with LightSquared and provide their customers with 4G LTE.
When a provider gets a new service, they don't get rid of the old one completely! Think about how 4G got introduce to Sprint......they didn't get rid of 3G did they???..hahaha
They're not dumping 4G. LTE is 4G as well. They do appear to be introducing LTE into the mix, but we don't know yet how the transition from WiMax to LTE will work. Both will probably co-exist for awhile. But they're not dumping 4G.
you think they'll update the evos to get 4G LTE when they upgrade?
They would most likely not upgrade Evos. It is a hardware issue.
They would probably use LTE as its main system after it grows a bit, and Wimax as its backhaul.

So we still have a few years for that
What pisses me off the most is that, I got the Evo 4g knowing that one day I would get the ridiculously fast speeds. If I don't get that, I will not be a happy camper. I know there is nothing I can do about it, but if they can expand the 4g before going LTE on their phones I will be fine. I'm not rich, I can't get a new phone every year. This really makes me question sprints reliability
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
The actual deal sounds more like an agreement for Sprint to use their backhaul and for them to use Sprint's towers. It doesn't say anything about Sprint getting rid of 4G.
4g LTE.
at least there will be some sort of 4g in az. we have been promised for about a year and still nothing. however from what i have read wimax is faster than LTE. oh well just want 4g sometime in az.
what i think is the more likely scenario depending if LTE gets a pass from the government (since it interferes with GPS satellites) is that sprint will dual band essentially achieving what both verizon and ATTTMOBILE have already achieved which is voice calling while using data.there fore having wimax and LTE it can be achieved plus if u think about it where ever u are u will have 4G
Yup, you'll just need a new phone to use it. And I'd wait for the network before deciding on a phone. I was told my area would be getting 4G by the end of last year. Still nothing. Not that I care, 3G and WiFi are plenty fast for my needs, I can stream Pandora, Netflix, etc. and my battery lasts longer.
Chime in guys. I'm looking for the one that will give me the best service for my EVO in the Tampa Bay Area. Boost of course will be 35 after 18 months. I assume both will give me the serivces, I have come to love with Sprint.
Thanks.
I'm from tampa to, metro seems like the best way to go, I know a few people who have evos on metro.. But then again metro service is a bit iffy. Mostly a personal choice if you do metro.. I had boost before coverage was good, I'll go with boost over metro
My Oreo Evo 4g G-bread(synergy rom)
Sell ur evo and go simple mobile. I live on Tampa to.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Boost or Metro is personal choice they both kinda whack for 3g service. Payment wise is different but coverage in my area I seen the market take minutes just to load up- **smdh** not good.
I agree sell Evo go simple mobile with a HD2 or find a nice HTC sim card phone
if your sprint coverage and 3g speeds are decent then definitely stick with boost because its the same exact service as sprint, just no fancy 4G service. Plus like you said, the shrinking payment are great. Metro doesn't have a(or i believe very recently only has a few) 3g network. they work off of 1X so data is unbearably even in great coverage areas. Also, it tends to be more of a pain in the ass working with the whole metro flash thing and getting all the functions of the phone to work correctly than with boost. Its a win win with boost for me. If i didnt have 4g in my area I'd sure as hell switch
I successfully flashed my Epic 4G Touch to Boost Mobile using the Incognito guide and was able to get my settings absolutely perfect, if not better than if it was with Sprint.. My download speeds are averaging 1mb/sec, MMS works flawlessly, and for the first time ever I was able to download something using 4G, and 4G service has not been released in my city, there is just a small stretch of road that picks up 4G signal briefly. I live 54 miles North of San Francisco so i guess it came from there? Anyway, I would be glad to help anyone trying to set up there phone on boost but I make no promises as too the success rate. I updated my PRL through settings, update, and I am on 61007 now. This PRL is ten times better and stronger than any other I have tried, and could be the reason why 4G works. I dont know.
I included screen shots to show the 4G Active on my Epic Touch, and a picture showing the speeds im getting on 3G. Yesterday I could not download any faster than 15kb/s on my OG Epic running Boost and now im averaging 1mb/s!
Congrats I'm sure a few others will find this useful also.

You can't roam in boost like you can with Sprint right?

Question: How did you do 4g without a valid subbed 4g mac id?
Or did you use a donor 4g mac address?
Thanks in advance
a guide would be great. i am considering boost mobile.
I'm working on a guide, however it's going to be difficult considering all the tweaking of settings I went through. I think the best thing is for me to share my QPST and other configuration settings

i have my e4gt flashed to boost as well. My 4g connects but directs to a sprint website saying my plan doesn't support 4g. How did you get around that?
Have mine working but 3g suck not getting good speeds at all and signal goes up and down

Mine too... I've tried speeds in Pittsburgh DC and Vegas this week... all really slow!
Why would you guys be expecting better service or speeds? Boost is owned by sprint (last time I checked) and uses their equipment.

You are correct sir..lol, I am also looking into boost since their plans are cheaper then Sprints and goes lower per every 6 month of on time payments. I really don't need 4g and have only used it maybe a hand full of times since the days of the epic.
Boost is pretty much Sprints little bro...just that Sprint gets the better phones and Boost gets the hand me downs in a way.

I understand going to them in order to save money. I just don't want people leaving this thread thinking that if they flash to boost they will have better speeds or service.

Yea i know where you are come from same towers, I am really considering of switching to Boost after 13 yrs of Sprint to save some $$$$ now that we can flash the EpicTouch. I will still be getting pretty much everything just like my 450 Sprint plan the only thing different is that I just will not have 4g service yet will be paying less for my service.
im not expecting better speeds. I left sprint for boost and my 3g speeds on my evo were much better. I was hoping for the same speeds on boost. It sounds like its a sprint 3g problem lately and will hopefully get better(for boost users as Well)
i would like to know how to do this....
the OP has shown screenshots connecting to 4G.. but never a screenshot of active data moving. Id be willing to bet the browser redirects him to the 4G signup page.
I was with sprint for 15 years before i switch to Boost. Most phone i bought without contract feeling that they offer better customer support when not under a contract but at the end was paying to much paying $125 on a unlimited plan. My time to overpay is over. lol
Ive owned the Evo 4g and the Evo 3d on Boost and speeds are way better on those devices than on the Epic Touch 4G. Hoping for a updated soon
The op left us hanging with the 4g info..
I know there is a way but it requires a clone of a valid 4g subbed account.
If anyone can outline this please post
Did anyone get OTA (over the air) programing to work?
I would really love to know if anyone can get that working
So i've been paying an additional $10 a month per line on my phones with 4G capabilities. Initally I had the OG EVO, 3D, and now Epic Touch. Its been well over a year probably close to two and I still dont have 4G not that this is something I need but it is something ive been paying for.
I dont live in some rural area (San Diego) so I dont see why they are lagging. Maybe this whole transition from 4G to LTE but that change was fairly recent.
Of couse when you call sprint they are not going to give you any time frame.
So I guess im stuck still paying the additional $10 on each line for a service I cannot access where I live and havent since day one.
Oh well, hopefully once LTE gets going SD will be one of the first to run it.
Anyone with some inside info care to provide some good news?
Sprint now defines that $10 as a smartphone surcharge and applies it to anything that runs iOS, Android, Bby, or WinMo 4g or not, although I don't think sprint has any current smartphones that aren't 4g.
You would've been better off to fight the 4g battle when the evo came out IMO.

True..
At the time when the EVO came out I believe was the only 4G phone they carried so I guess was under the impression the charge was for 4G but I do see it has changed to a general charge for smart phones.
So I guess at this point its just a waiting game.
Techincally the evo was out first, but idunno where you lived, but the Epic was available first here due to false demand scams by HTC... either that or they made them one at a time. Seriously didnt you get enough of this topic in the evo forums?? I know we got sick of it in the Epic forums...
http://s4gru.com/ I found this site online, not sure how accurate their information is, but good to read through.
Al major markets se supposed to have LTE by the end of 2014 but we've all been hearing these ETAs for years with 4G so I wouldn't count on either. I'm in Milwaukee WI and have head we will have 4G by 2011.. never happened lol

im near Milwaukee and I have less hope than you. I know Clear has been putting 4G towers in milwaukee and madison, but I have yet to pick up a 4G signal.
4G LTE...not happening.
Keep in mind, Sprint's 4G LTE is their own, with their own network, own buildout, and own spectrum.
I have read in several places Q3 for L.A. and Orange County and Q4 for San Diego so its safe to say before Christmas you will be rocking LTE

Best answer to sprint lte is 3 years before most places fully see it. Hell I have been in a wimax test arear for over 2 years and at a sprint store I heard a salesman tell a customer there was no 4g at all but when it gets here it will be awesome. When sprints own staff has no idea 4g is even in their own service area how can I even trust them to put towers up.
Good for you people in great big luscious data driven cities, sucks every where else
I have had several sprint employees tell me that here in Virginia it should be within 2 years.
I have a question of my own. I have had a few people tell me that when LTE comes around we will have to have new phones because the hardware like in the Epic Touch will not work on LTE. Any truth to this?

Yes if you want lte you will have to get a lte capable phone..... Ie sgs3 HTC evo4g lte , etc .... The hardware in this phone will not work on lte . But until you get lte if you have 4g now there is no reason to change unless you're a phone junkie like me

This summer I am guessing since that is when they are releasing the Evo Lte, Galaxy Nexus etc. Boston market looks like lte will cover almost the entire state, and if it's anything like how when the original htc evo launch, lte will most likely be already on in boston market.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I didn't know if anyone knew if you could take a Sprint branded EVO Design 4G phone and put it on Boost Mobile. I wasn't sure if they had some database of what ESN's are Sprint EVO Design's and what are Boost Mobile EVO Design's.. does anyone know? If so, if the Sprint EVO Design has a bad ESN on Sprint, would they activate it?
Yes interested in this as well.
I have an evo 4G and was wondering if you can just call boost when your term is over.
Would love to save the hassle of 'donor' phones and related processes.
message me for detaill i know he can do mostly any sprint phone
im currently running gs2 epic on boostmobile i can even say i get better 3g loll
also w 4g
I tried to call boost mobile customer care and activate an EVO 4g(not the design 4g) and all 4 times the took the DEC then told me that they are aware that people want to activate sprint phones on the boost network but an not compatible. (which isnt true) I told them that it was the new EVO design 4g and one time i told them it was a sprint branded phone evo.
chodey big balls
I am also interested in how to get sprint evo to boost mobile.

No, I don't think you can use any Design, it has to be from Boost.
