Accidentally dropped on one X on the floor in work today ( luckily it's carpeted so no damage, just bounced, heh ), but as I picked it up I noticed a new icon next to the wi-fi icon that i've never seen before on any HTC device, anyone know what it is or means? it's the grey one, can't find any reference to it anywhere i've looked today.
I think but not so sure..... it is 75% Google Tag
RSS reader.

As far as I remember, i've never added an RSS reader and can't see anything in running apps suggesting anything like it running, any ideas how to get rid of it or find out what launched it?
If you are rooted you have to uninstall it from system, just check it now it is Tag from google.

ok, after having a further play with it, i've found out what it actually was, it's the Near Field Communication icon (NFC) , must have pressed the activation button as I was picking the phone up off the floor, no wonder i've never seen that icon before, lol.
so when u turned it off the icon disappeared ? or not yet? coz i just turned on my NFC now and i got icon, i am on Energy Rom now

I woke up this morning and could not get the display to change. I normally have auto rotate on but nothing happenes when i turn the phone. The only way i can get the display to change back is to uncheck auto rotate. Iv tried pretty much everything except a factory reset which id rather not. I have insurance but this is a pretty minor claim. Anyone that could help id love to hear from you.
Thanks.

It sounds like the accelerometer might have failed. There's a calibration tool built in that you can run to see if it's responsive there. It shows two bubble level indicators. There are also apps that have similar display information. If they don't move when you move the phone around, then accelerometer may have died and you need to exchange.
have you tried the htc auto rotate widget?
Yep, thats what i thought. The sensor isnt picking up anything using both the stock app and a third party one. Im on my way to Verizon right now. Good thing i have insurance

Just an update on all of this, just returned from Verizon store after a nice birthday dinner, i started talking to a rep who didn't know what a g-sensor or anything else for that matter was. After explaining in extremely simple detail what its function was the man said that i was wrong and that my phone infact didnt have one of those sensors. I immediately requested to see a manager. This manager also happened to own a Droid incredible 2.. this is the best part, he said this was a brand new phone
With SENSE 3.0! After that i just walked out of the store. So ill be calling a service department im the morning. You would think if you work at the store you would know what parts of the phone are. Sorry for the wall of text. Hopefully this gets sorted out.

There is a device called a accelerometer and there is a device called a gyroscope. The I2 has an accelerometer, but not a gyroscope. I would be careful calling it a g-sensor as, yes, it can measure g-forces, but some may assume you are referring to a gyroscope.
Well I used both terms in the store to avoid confusion, but it's fine my replacement came this morning and everything works just fine.

got the Firmware back in May and to this day it hasn't been fixed, WTF
how do I fix this, the keyboard goes blank every other time I text, texting is a basic thing for mobile communication how did they let this slip by! I doubt this firmware was tested at all before release it's like releasing a car and forgetting to add a wing mirror......
No one is forcing you to use mods if it's not upto your high standards. FYI, I text a lot (hardly call), and am still to experience this bug you are referring to.
Someone else posted the same problem in the Cyanogen community, got no response, I'm not saying I wish to remove this mod, I'm asking what do I have to do to fix this issue, I am not the only one having it!
try this, text your friend, press the back button or home button or even the power button after you have done texting. tada! blank keyboard = reboot
Am I missing something I've been in this forum everyday and have never heard of a bug like this???? When was last time you flashed?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
had some recent problems but nothing i couldnt fix with help from xda members but never had a single keyboard problem (fingers crossed). i would say if you dont or havnt then you need to do a clean install.
I literally flashed it like 3 days after they figured out how to put Cyanogen on the wildfire..
this bugs been here from day one, my friends have it also (2) and I saw a recent post from an american having the exact problem.
I have unlimited texts so I text lots everyday...
and if I keep texting and play about with my phone like check phone logs (basically, pressing the back button often from texting to menu etc)
I will get a blank keyboard, very frustrating, I only can fix it by REBOOTING
There's been like 200+ updates since may?? Why don't you update??
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
never had this issue.. :/ and i texting 500+ everyday
where are the updates?!? I've been on 7.0.3 since may and have never updated I haven't seen a new release?
Download
Download from here http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=buzz
There's a stable version called cm7.1 rc1 in the development section but I recommend flashing the latest nightly which is updated daily as its better, faster and more stable in my opinion.

This thread still makes me chuckle, are you guys waiting for someone from the cyanogen team to pop round and fix it for you?

Getting quite annoyed with this now. About half the time when I unlock my HOX by pulling the ring up, it launches into the dialer instead of the launcher. I thought I might have been accidentally dragging the quick launch icon, but just tested it about 20 times to make sure, and I can drag the ring anywhere on screen, after the quick launch bar has faded and it still happens.
This happening for anyone else?

Unlocking the phone brings you to the last open activity. If you lock your phone after using the dialer, you'll unlock it on the dialer. (Un)locking is not like pressing Home.

I know that. It does this no matter my last open app
this thing happen to me when i charging my phone.. my guess its has something to do with HOX screen sensitivity when on charging status..
yeah it seems related to the touch sensitivity issue when charging, mine does this occasionally.
Happens to me too. I think it has to do with bad coding and unfinished software. My previous phone was Dedire and never had any problems with it. But I'm very dissapointed with the hox. It seems as if it was built with only one thing in mind, get it oit before samsung. Bad move in terms of quality

just a follow up, not near a mains charger at the moment, and can't seem to reproduce when charging from PC.
Is everyone having it launch the dialer, and if so, do you all have the dialer as your first quicklaunch app?
Will be fiddling with this issue later on, because it's just weird
I noticed this when I first got this phone, I just moved the Dialer icon elsewhere on the Dock and it never happened again, strange but a non issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775638
Pls read the above thread, just posted my theory there for this issue, its probably about time we start a proper thread for this issue.
I'm sure this is related to the charging issue, the charging problem screws up the touch's on the screen, which is why the phone app seemlingly appears randomly

I have noticed at times that when an update occurs to some of the apps, this app if on my home screen disappears and I have to recollect and drag it back from the menu list.
This strangely doesn't happen to all apps but a selected few and that too not always to them.
Eg. It happened to xe currency app today and it has had so many updates till date but never before this have I seen this behaviour.
Also I have owned a htc desire in the past but never experienced anything like this.
Has anyone else seen anything similar. Is it a bug or a feature of the phone.
Thanks to everyone in advance who can help.

Happend to me with XE Currency, and I had it in a folder on my home screen, i can only assume that sometimes the app must be totally removed first before install of newer version, hence the icon dissapears!
+1
Happened today with XE. Never noticed it with any other app, it seems its specific to this latest XE update.
I can turn it on but I get no little icon in the status bar as well as nothing happens when putting it against a HTC ONE with NFC enabled. Stock rom and kernel It's rooted and I've flashed a few different roms but I always come back to stock for the camera. I'd rather not flash a new stock again because I don't want to set it all up again.
I've disabled a few apps and stuff through app manager but none have to do with NFC.
other questions i want to ask but i dont want to start a whole thread for them. When i try to pair my S4 to the stereo in my car it says device full and I've done it before is this a problem with the phone or the stereo?
and does anyone have the link to a thread with all the processes they succesfully disabled without causing FC's?
I have a friend who has an HTC One, and we had a hard time getting it to work. I think one reason is the HTC One's NFC sensor is near the top of the phone, while the S4 is near the bottom. I didn't notice any icon, except when transferring files. I had better luck connecting to a Motorola Razr M, so I know that it does work. Also, you may want to make sure bluetooth is enabled, since some files are transferred that way.
As for trying to pair your phone to your car, you probably need to delete a device from the car. I had to do this with an old phone no longer in use, and then I was able to pair my new phone.
I hope you're able to get the NFC working. I bought some tags which work, and I'm trying to think of cool ways to use them.
Dude that is the first thing I noticed when I bought my S4 from T-Mobile. Seems like the NFC icon on status bar is for the AT&T model.. I haven't seen any other model with this icon. I managed to changed the build.prop to AT&T because I like the 4G logo and the carrier text appeared on status bar and says tmobile. This was something with att model as well. I noticed my NFC toggle logo changed to the one on status bar but yet it wont come on status bar... As of now i'm looking for a att rom to flash and see if it works but lately everybody have the idea on creating international rom... As of NFC working mine does
I flashed a stock Rom onto my s4 for this along with other reasons like turning on voice control FC'd camera but I still don't get NFC icon in my status bar. I feel like I remember seeing one on the day I got my phone but I can't anymore. I need to get somethin to test my nfc with

Maybe the NFC icon on status bar was in a oldest build. When I got mine a few weeks ago it had the latest MDL. A friend have a att model and her shows. Like I said even on the nfc toggle icon is different.
